It seems like lately I've been the butt of many jokes, mostly because of an old pic that I posted a long time ago. When I first posted it and some select individuals chose to make fun of me for it, it pissed me off. After a while, things died down and there wasn't any mention of it up until one day HashPipe decided to talk about it in a post he made. Then things got ugly once again, with people making references to the binoculars that I was holding in that pic. I've been trying my best to tolerate the jokes as best as possible (and yes, I realized how stupid that pic was), but there are some things that I wish you guys would just let die. It really bugs me that some people were asked to chill, but then decide to continue on with the jokes. I don't want to say that the jokes hurt my feelings because I can see why the pic is joke material, but I am asking those who have been making the jokes about my pic to please stop and just let the matter die again.

This is ridiculous.
Wormer, I think you enjoy being the butt of the joke -- the victim, the helpless town deficient. Why would you even make a post about this when the matter has been addressed to the individual people whom continue to harp on you about the past?
You don't think other users have been the butt of the joke continually? DanielP and HashPipe are proof that you aren't alone in this matter, and that you are craving more attention than you really deserve. Excuse me for being presumptuous in addressing this matter -- but come on.
Do us a favor and audition for reality television already. |

So if you think he does it to be an attention whore, why give him the attention? 
For the record, the mods asked him to make this specific post. So, that's another thing you can all stop harping on.
Please re-read Bill's post, and recall that he does follow through on these things. Sometimes painfully. Is it really worth it to keep taunting him when it could mean restriction/suspension/bannage?

I don't have the binocular picture so I don't see what I did to ignite this whole thing. As Mackey stated, he is quite the strange person but I haven't ever looked at him as a bad guy. Sure he loves attention but "that's what he do." Bill's e-mailed me to lay off a bit and I feel that I have. I still threw out the occasional joke but I do that to a lot of people.
Did you still want any help with what we've talked about before, Mike? It'll be a while before I'm back up to par on typing and stuff but if you're interested, it's a can-do thing in a few months.

Why would you even encourage him to make a post about this matter? I'm all for respect for Dyne -- I like him -- but isn't this just fodder for the fire? Aren't you giving him what he wants essentially?
This reminds me of what convicted pedophiles have to endure. Those who go door to door, making it known to the neighborhood that they are, infact, convicted pedophiles with a boy-hugging/molesting problem. |

Well, it wasn't me that suggested it, but I think the idea was that with all the kidding around on the site, people don't always know when someone is sick of it. So how else are you going to know? Either he needs to tell people, or it ends up as a complaint in the mod system. Isn't this preferable?

Everyone knows kidding around to be funny, yet in a respectful way is all right. (Which Dyne has stated he's willing to go along with for the fun of it.) Once someone lets you know that it isn't funny to them anymore and to stop, (I've seen several postings where he's asked this) it's no longer cool to continue. You just look like a bully. It's making to site an uncomfortable place to be. It's too bad that every one is scared of posting pictures of themselves because they know the trashing that will happen.

I guess people can get sickl of stuff but is'nt that why you can filter people? thats just the thing though no one will filter someone who they think is a prick. For the simple fact they want to see what will happen next....
Im going against the grain on this one, I think Dyne is playing victim yet the people who harp on him should move along. These topics are great reads but just get to be b.s after a point.
Also getting banned or whatever is for sure not worth a crappy pic joke, go join one of the recent racist topics in the forums EVEN MORE FUN!!!

I gotta go with what seems to be the majority here. Showing that things are getting to you is just provoking others to do it more often. It dies in time when you yourself lets it die....it may pop up again here and there but it fades out eventually. Vdub is a good guy and he gets plenty of recognition for being that ....just look at the nominations he frequently gets in the GUM voting. He does set himself up a bit for the jokes though. Most are good natured and it's normal for people to jump on the bandwagon for things like that....it's not a hate thing. I give and take alot of ribbing myself but I also realize that I'm not living with these people and I know what is a joke and what is an actual attack. As some have said this the NET .....don't hold what you see and hear here in high regards. I'm sorry but when I find something funny I post about it.....I'm sure theres instances where Vdub does the same. Unfortunately for him he lets it be known when the things are bothering him and it compounds things. Most of the time its as I said a bandwagon thing where each person just adds their thoughts. If its just one person that keeps harping on one thing without a break that might be alittle different but I don't really see that happending .....it may die for a while and then something reminds them and they refer back but I haven't seen post after consecutive post about the same thing from the same person when something hasn't been said to relate to it. To sum it up just take it in stride and roll with it ....and throw some crap back as well that will keep some from doing it as often if you can best them at their own game  .

It's true that VW leaves himself open to jokes on a nearly daily basis. The fact that he "doesn't get it" so often makes him an easy mark. But everybody knows when enough is enough. Some people just like to turn everything into their own personal crusade and or tweek others for their own pleasure. VW is always going to be VW. He is not a bad guy, he's just a little slow on the joke uptake. You can't control how he acts. You can control how big of an assmunch you are.
