My dads looking for a tattoo, I will describe what he wants and will offer 6 months (or more) of subtime to any one who can draw it up decently.
Only one person will get the subtime.
He wants the confederate flag with Sic Semper at the top and Tyrannis at the bottom of the flag.
You can watermark your drawing or whatever, and everyone can email me the results. If you require more subtime for this let me know.

Of course people from the north were taught it was slavery that caused the Civil War....read a history book, that's wasn't even a factor in the war at all.

Please tell me exactly what caused the Civil War then. I'm curious as to what factors actually started it if slavery never played a role... |

You know you can never convinced a racist that they're racist. Or rapist, pedophile, psycho, etc. etc. That's why they have psychologists. But even they fail.

RiseAgainst540

| | #101 posted August 20, 2008 at 3:22pm (EST) |
Well I'm not racist at all.
EVERY state in the US at that time HAD slaves. The Civil War was not faught over slavery people! If it was then someone forgot to tell the thousands of blacks that faught for the Southern cause.
It's about Lincoln trying to control every move the south did.
Simple history. The South didn't want Lincoln to control their lives, they believed the states' had rights, Lincoln did not.
 |
Scavenger4
| | #102 posted August 20, 2008 at 3:32pm (EST) |
Yes former slaves fought for the south to gain their freedom (aka you fight, we free you)... they didn't fight because they believed in a state's right to decide the slavery issue for themselves..
You can't seriously be this stupid, can you? |
RiseAgainst540

| | #103 posted August 20, 2008 at 3:35pm (EST) |
What the hell was stopping them from running away like the others? Nothing, they believed in the South's point of view.
It's well documented in history books!

LMAO!!!
Welz I aint much fer reddin butts yuz go eyhed an shows me dem der hestury boks.
EDIT:
On a more serious note...
You do realize that the vast majority of slave roles in the southern military were unarmed right? If they ran, they were shot, hung, beaten to death, had limbs removed, etc...

Tony let's just agree to disagree. Everyone has their opinions.
I know it's taught different in schools across the country, so I have no problem saying my teachers may have stretch the truth.
Oh well. It's really not worth arguing over.
EDIT: Tony, actually I didn't, nice info....hm, then what the hell was the point?
 |
Scavenger4
| | #106 posted August 20, 2008 at 3:47pm (EST) |
The truth on what caused the Civil War is something that people shouldn't agree to disagree on... It was a horrible time in our history and the truth should be the only version that stands to exist.
The point for slaves to fight? It actually gave them some sight of a free future (despite the fact that southern slave owners would likely not free those who fought). I've never had to experience enslavement and I'm sure you haven't either, but anything that gave hope of eventual freedom would surely be enticing despite the large risk of death. |
RiseAgainst540

| | #107 posted August 20, 2008 at 3:52pm (EST) |
When I said what's the point, I ment if they didn't arm them, then why have them there?
I understand why they didn't arm them, but just seems pointless to have them there just to load cannons and crap...I dunno.
The Civil War was more about states right to choose whether they wanted slaves or not, more so then the actual slavery it's self. I understand what you're saying.
It's hard to un-learn things when they have been taught to you that way for years.
That's why I like the debates here, I usually learn something new each time.

Wars are won by supply lines and not by riflemen. There are plenty of other war effort tasks an enlisted individual can partake in rather than just shooting the enemy. |
