exactly. the common response was normally something like "oh wow, really? hes great!!" or something along those lines. that is, if there was any response. there was often just a confused look. |

Dollar General just down the street from where I live. I applied for a sales associate position. The interview only lasted about five minutes, so I'm thinking my chances of being hired aren't so great, but you never know. I don't see any reason why they wouldn't hire me, since I already have some retail experience but I could have answered some of the questions better.

for example, they asked me to describe a time when I motivated a co-worker. I told them that I couldn't think of anything (since there's never really any time I'd have to motivate a co-worker at a gas station). They also asked if I ever received any bad customer service, and I told them that I couldn't think of anything recent (which is true). I've never really had any major issues with customer service.

Dollar General LOL. Dude, you should have just been a straight up DICK and let them know they should be so lucky to have someone of your calibur to even consider working at that mother fudgeer.

you just need to have some crap made up beforehand. if they ask you your weaknesses, you give them more strengths. strength is your weakness!

Except it's not really in my nature to be a dick to someone unless they're being a dick to me first. I can be such a pussy sometimes.

I was anticipating those types of questions more than having to describe situations and what they mean to me.

you noob, situational questions are how all interviews are going now.
tell me about a time you failed
tell me about a time you went above and beyond
tell me about a time you led
etc.
its all about being able to tell the most glorious lies creative truths in the spur of the moment

yeah, for my (lolz) leadership class last quarter, we had like a dumb little "exit interview" thing with the professor, and she kept asking these kind of questions. I had no idea that's what it was gonna be, but I kicked that interview's ass. I even surprised myself how great I was at spontaneous and effective bullcrapting.
