I don't even know what QQ'ing means. Anyways, I was very sure that the Wings would win the Cup. I just didn't know that they would play like crap for the last two games. You have to hand it to Talbot though, without him, the Penguins would have lost two straight years. Good job to Osgood though, he will for sure be in the Hall of Fame after the amazing performance in this year's playoffs. The better team won this series. Oh well, there is always next year. Good for Malkin too, jesus, what a point-producer. That's what was expected of Crosby, but at least one of the Pens got it done this year.

It's a team game -- a team effort. Talbot was huge this game, but Christ..
If you didn't have Cleary, the Ducks would have beaten you! If you didn't have Datsyuk, you would have lost Game 5!
It could go on and on. People step up. Just by subtracting them doesn't mean the game would go as it did. The Pens stopped attacking in the third. Whose to stay taking away Talbot's influence, that they don't get it elsewhere? If someone gets two hat tricks single-handedly in a game, the team as an entirety must have done something right. One guy isn't a team.
C'mon..

Sure, The Canadians did make a HUGE impact. Every team is filled with them. Now you probably meant Canadiens, and yeah they crap the bed... Key injuries, bad coaching sloppy play..... So please go QQ some more please. |

Stop with the excuses, Pittsburgh wanted it more. Insulting the best player in Game 7 is stupid. |

THIS.
I actually wanted Detroit to win but was happy anyways for Malk, Crosb, Fleury, Guerin, Boucher (who came from Dallas, my team).
With that being said, people just need to lay off their CRYING and WHINING and just accept the win.
At times,I hate to practice, but I love to play. I know I need to study and I know I need to practice and I know how important it is. That doesn't mean I have to like it. The question I have to ask myself is am I willing to do that? And the answer is yes |

Ha, first off Detroit has had more PP oppurtunities then the Pens, and secondly, the Wings lost without Crosby even playing in the last half of the game. Lidstrom coulda tied it with 1 second left, but Fluery made a huge save. The wings need to learn that in closing out teams you have to play hard for more then a period to win a damn hockey game. I am glad the penguins won, and as far as Talbot goes, he has actally made a habit of scoring big goals in the playoffs. He is a pretty good player, and Fedetenko has had a rough career after leaving Tampa, but only offensively. He has become more of a two-way player, and put defense first now. Stop whining, Detroit has had there runs, this one just fell short, at least he Wings aren't the Lions. |

that's true. although the Lions can't get much worse then last year, so this will be a good...um, better year for them.
EDIT: So why does everyone hate the Wings? Is it the Yankee syndrome, where they are hated for being at the top for so long? Or just that all of GameTZ are Pittsburgh fans?

Obviously they just got beat this year. I have made some very strong statements in this thread, and the Wings (with their lackluster play) proved me wrong on most of them. Everyone has been hounding me and my posts with very strong and usually harsh statements themselves, so I was just curious as to where the animosity was coming from.

Still cant believe it. Pens are a strong team but if dasyuk and Hossa werent so ineffective i believe the outcome would have been different. Detroit was getting carried by their lower lines instead of their power forwards for most of the post-season. I thought Detroit had the most depth but i guess in the end Pittsburgh did.
Congrates to Malkin getting the MVP! I bet on Detroit so thats why i was rooting for them but Malkin has always been my favourite player. |

It's true. I hate how the Canadian media is all obsessed with Sidney Crosby all the time. He played great in all the series before this one, but really, he basically did fudge all in the finals. CBC had a montage that says "Congratulations Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Pengiuns." Get off Crosby's dick already.
Malkin played the best hockey of ANYone in the league when Crosby was injured earlier in the season, and he played better than Sid in the final too. It is crazy how little all the superstars did for either team in the finals though.
Crosby is 21, Malkin 22, Jordan Staal 20... all with a cup under their belts already.. crazy how young the core of this team is.

Ghaleon
| | #188 posted June 13, 2009 at 11:58pm (EST) |
They will be back to the finals many more times too in the next couple of years. Unlike Tampa Bay(the next team with a great core of young superstars), the core of non superstars are welcomed to stay in Pittsburgh. |

Honestly, CBC has lost there touch. Ever since losing there theme song and going with that one that call there "theme" now has killed them for me. It has to be the worst sounding theme music ever! What a fudging joke. When Cherry retires and Ron Mclean leaves (only a matter of time) it will be the end for CBC. They are the only reaons I watch there games every Saturday. TSN is MUCH better now... this year they really stepped it up IMO. To bad they don't have tax payer money bidding on the TV rights for Saturday... HNIC is sadly turning into a joke now, and thats really sad to see CBC should let it go and TSN take over HNIC. |

CBC really is horrible. Don Cherry is the only reason it’s still floating. When they kicked him out they had to bring him back because the ratings dropped like a stone in the ocean. TSN could be better but they are just as lame. Needs more women reporters! |

What's funny is I was on vacation in the Bahamas, and the only station they carried for Game 7 was CBC. Being from New Jersey, it was the first time I even watched the station. But holy crap, they do so much more than an American broadcast of an NHL game. I would want to see what CBC was if you don't think it's good now. |

Great seasons by two awesome clubs. I was glad to see pitts pull it out, since Detroit has plenty of cups without this one. BUT it will be interesting to see if pens can keep that nucleus together for a while. Fleury/Malkin/Crosby is gonna be tough, let alone some of the other guys - I mean what is the Rangers bid gonna look like for those 3 dudes? |
Finn

| | #198 posted June 15, 2009 at 2:38pm (EST) |
in the "Previous HNIC intro" thats actually the intro to the 2nd game on the double header..... The 2nd song you here is the good old theme, the one I am talking about! The one CBC had used for almost 40 years or so. TSN has picked it up though, and since doing so they show games with Canadian teams (TSN2 carries whatever) They have the best panel, better commentary and but on a really good show. HNIC still does a few things right however, there commentary is still pretty good (if you can stomach the heavy Toronto bias) there Hot Stove on the 2nd int of the first game is awesome! At the end of the 2nd game (if you stay up that late) they have a interview with someone that took part in the 2nd game! it lasts 30min then of course Coaches Corner! But HNIC's quality has gone down in the last 4-5 years though, and even though TSN has not been doing it for as long, they really grew this year! They beat the crap outta Sportsnet! my god some of the hosts they have on there for the Edmonton games are bad! They are not nearly as professional!
What needs to happen when Ron Maclean's contract is up with CBC, is TSN needs to offer him big money! He is the best in the business! I love his interviews with Bettman! Maclean is just so damn smart! He asks the right questions and does a lot of the reasearch himself... he comes to the table with his facts checked and double checked! I also like Kelly Hrudey! He does a damn good job. But the need to get rid of Cassie Campbell she is horrible! |
