The home field advantage thing sucks. As does the All star game.

Homefield advantage should go to the team with the better regular season record. The AL has such a lopsided winning percentage in All-Star games because of the DH.

I think Greeny had an interesting idea the other day. If they are going to play for something why not play for the rules in the world series.

Like what kind of rules that aren't normally in regular games? DH rule?

Yeah I guess the DH rule is the only rule that isn't standardized b/w leagues. So if the NL won the All star game there would be no DH. And if the AL won there would be a DH. No matter what stadium they played at.

The team with the better record should have home field advantage in the World Series. The All-star game shouldn't count for anything. The better team should have home field, not the team from the best league; that just doesn't make sense. |

They're both pretty much useless. Francoeur's plate discipline is pathetic. |

Agreed. You have to suspect some mega baggage in a deal like this. Just what the mets need, another egotistical prick. |

Well, hopefully the change of scenery helps Frenchy because he's had an OPS of .653 and .634 last year and this year. Those are absolutely terrible offensive numbers. I don't foresee that ballpark helping him out, but hey, the Mets probably can't drop any further than they have. |

An absolutely great pitching duel tonight in Boston.
Lester went 8 shutout innings, just edging out Bannister's 1 run performance. Papelbon had a 1-2-3 ninth to close the game out. |

LOL!!!!! You know somebody is not a Braves fan with they call Frenchy a "stud".
I'm glad to see him go. The Braves were actually starting Diaz over him towards the end there.

They can have him. We've been trying to get rid of him all year. If we really thought he was a "25 year-old stud", we wouldn't have dealt him within the division. We tried the Marlins first, they didn't want him at all.

Well, to be fair, Frenchy IS 25 years old and his serious flaw is plate discipline... something many young hotheads dsiplay. I wouldn't be shocked to see him come around and get back to form. Something about hitting over 30 hrs and winning a gold glove made too "comfortable," his attitude was bad. He seemed to consider himself "proven" after a couple of good seasons... I think his negative impact on the clubhouse must have outweighed any potential he may have. I'm glad he's gone, but do wish him well; he is a good baseball player.
Now, let me get to praying for Ryan Church's injured brain and hope we haven't acquired a full-on retard. He's had like 3 concussions, serious ones.... |

The guy hit 20-30 homeruns and knocked in 100 RBI only a couple of years ago and has plenty of potential . Also he is 5 years younger then Church. BTW How did they start Diaz over him ? He played 82 games and if they did start Diaz over him for the last game or two it was because he was involved in a trade almost all teams do because of the injury risk. |

I just saw this today. I know Church didn't play every day in '08, but he seemed to have been a decent player.
What the Mets need are some bats, especially when Santana is pitching. He should be at least 11-5, not 9-7.
