Adam LaRoche (and possible Jack Wilson) have been traded to the Red Sox.

I like that the Yankees and Red Sox seem to trade with the Pirates annually. I like the deal. |

The Yankees and Sox don't need a farm system - that's what the Pirates are for. |

The Red Sox also traded Lugo for Chris Duncan.

I like that deal too. Lugo is useless, while Duncan can provide a bit of power and additional insurance for Lowell, Ortiz, Youk, and LaRoche. |

Wait, so the team that's been in first for nearly most of the season needs something that the Yankees rely on? I'm confused. No "hGH" = Red Sox 8-0 vs Yankees? hGH for Yankees = 2-18 against Angels/Red Sox? |

Maybe it's the standings that confused you? I'm confused too... ESPN preaches how the BoSox are so much better while the Yankees are surging past them? |

Mark Buehrle tossed a perfect games against the Rays today. Extremely impressive.

Also, I just saw somewhere that has Halladay going to the Phils (rumor of course).

Five years ago according to the story on Yahoo.
The Phils do make the most sense for Halladay. I think they should trade pretty much whatever prospects Toronto wants; no prospect should be untouchable for a year and a half of Halladay with the talent they have everywhere else on the major league club. |

If I were the Blue Jays I'd sign Halladay until he retires and build around him. Buehrle
I still can't believe the Braves traded Francouer to the Mets. The Mets fudge. |

And the Mets are 4-5, while the Braves have gone 7-2 (excluding today's unfinished game, which is probably going to be a loss).

If I played you in CoD4 and I won all 8 rounds, would that make you better? If I bashed you in the face 8 times with my cock and knocked you out, did you win the fight? ESPN is "preaching" facts. Standings show how you compete against every team you've faced, not who you are better than. Just because the Yankees manage to beat crapty teams but not their rivals doesn't make them a better team, it makes them better against the other teams (such as last place Baltimore...). |

Last place Baltimore took 2 out of 3 against the Mets this year. |

Matt Holliday has reportedly been traded to the Cardinals for prospects Brett Wallace, Shane Peterson, and Clayton Mortensen.
http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2009/07/cards-close-...
Wallace was drafted just last year in the first round by the Cardinals. He's a pure hitter who has been playing third base. His defense supposedly isn't good, and many figured he'd have to move to first base in the NL. The main problem with that of course, is that he was blocked at first base by the best hitter of this generation, Albert Pujols. With the A's, Wallace could get a chance to DH, allowing him to hit without hurting the club in the field. They could also try to improve his defense at third base or play him at first, especially if they trade Giambi and/or others.
I don't really know much about the other two, but John Sickels ranked Peterson as a C+, noting he has great on-base skills but little power. Mortensen also received a C+ from Sickels, who said he he's an erratic starting pitcher. |

I like Matt Holliday and think it was fairly obvious that he was unhappy in Oakland. If he gets back to form the Cards may finally get some breathing room in the Central. |

Here's a link to John Sickels's intitial reaction to the trade. It gives some quick info for those that are interested a bit about what sort of prospects the A's are getting.
http://www.minorleagueball.com/2009/7/24/961439/qu...
I agree with you Feeb. I think going back to the NL and a contending club will help Holliday and the deal only makes the Cards better for the rest of the year. They could pick up a couple draft picks if Holliday leaves after the season, too. |

Phil, we cleared this up already, Roy Halladay is far from being worth what they're asking from any team. NO ONE will give up 5 major prospects for a guy that WILL test the free agency market.
I wish talks about this guy would go away and we'd start to hear more on Cliff Lee. |

Adam, Cliff Lee is the same situation. They wanted even more for him than the Jays wanted for Holiday. The wanted Joba ,Hughes ,etc so what's your point? |
