Nothing new here, Mets win the division, Cards or Giants take WC. In AL, Yankees miss post-season with Boston and Tampa getting division and WC. And I still say Seattle gets in somehow. |

And just got finished with watching Griffey highlights from the past few weeks. He still has one of the most beautiful swings I've ever seen in baseball. |

Fair enough, but how come you think that the Phillies win it over the Mets? Philly is mostly healthy right now and can't stay more than 2 games ahead of us at any given time. As far as I know - with the exception of Ibanez - they have no one on the DL that's going to come back and 'spark' them whereas the Mets have Reyes, Delgado, Beltran, their set-up man, and 2 closers all coming off the DL. |

The Phils are missing Ibanez, Lidge, Myers, and Scott Eyre.
They also like to instill false hope for the Mets before having another great September. |

I simply think the Phillies are a better, more experienced team. They also have a better farm system that they've been able to and will continue to tap into. They can use that farm system to trade for more pitching help, while the Mets have a thinner farm system. The Mets do have some very good prospects, but they don't hold the same kind of trade value that the Phillies prospects have. Michael Taylor is a name that I'll throw out there as a Phillies prospect that could be the center piece of a deal for a premium starting pitcher, much like Adam Jones was in the Bedard trade.
I give the starting pitching edge to the Phillies. Johan is obviously the best pitcher on either team, but Hamels isn't chopped liver. Neither team is great after their ace, but I much prefer the depth of the Phils' rotation. And, as I state in the previous paragraph, the Phillies have the pieces to improve that rotation if they want.
The bullpen edge is close, but I might give that to the Phillies if Lidge comes back healthy and effective. I'd probably prefer a healthy, effective Lidge to K-Rod (I think Lidge had a better season last year despite K-Rod breaking the saves record). Then, Madson is clearly the best set up pitcher that either team has. Putz was pretty bad while in there this year, and Parnell has been severely overrated after a quick start.
The Phillies have the better offense hands down. Utley, Howard, Ibanez, Victorino, Werth trump anything the Mets throw out there, even having an edge over a fully healthy line up of Wright, Reyes, Beltran and Delgado. In part due to injuries, the Mets have a weaker bench/depth.
The fact the Phils have strangely been so bad at home, to me, indicates that they're going to improve. I expect them to improve that home record, and consequently, open a bigger lead on the Mets. |

Not a Yankees fan, but I've been keeping my eye on him for a little while:
He's Ellsbury-lite. He can be exciting to watch when he's hot, with blazing speed and very good defense. However, he doesn't really have any power, and I fully expect that to lead to struggles very similar to what Ellsbury went through last year. Pitchers won't be afraid of being hurt by him, so they'll challenge him. Like Ellsbury, he doesn't have the ideal plate discipline for a lead off hitter.
I'd say that Austin Jackson is the current favorite to be the "permanent" center fielder for New York. He might be ready next year. Barring them buying or trading for a more established center fielder, of course. |

I am really shocked at how bad the Chicago Cubs have been this year. They were such a solid team last year and even the year before.
They are only 2-3 games out so I do think they will win the Central Division again for the 3rd season in a row. But they are making it very hard for me
to watch them. Last year I looked forward to every game on t.v but now I dont really care to much anymore about watching them. I keep track of the wins and losses on cubs.com
but thats about it unless nothing else is on t.v at the time of the game. They were stupid to get Milton Bradley for one thing. And also I think Fukodome would be fine if Lou would
just keep in one spot in the batting order and let him play everyday rather than benching him for a few days and then moving him around in the order.
Last year was Lou's fault in concerns to Fokudome. It was his first season playing in America and instead of letting him get used to playing everyday and having 1
spot in the rotation he moved him around almost every game he played and hed bence him and then get mad when he wouldnt hit . I think hes a great player and just needs
to be left alone. |

That's a perfectly fine excuse for why we may not be able to dominate teams we should, but absolutely no reason why 8 major league hitters can't hit Burnett AT ALL for 6 innings - namely people like Sheffield, Wright, and Church. 1 hit by Cora against him and the Yankees bullpen? No excuse. |

That is why it breaks my heart that he did so little in a Reds uniform over eight years' time.

This sucks for me. I ed DeRosa when he was on the Cubs. He's apparently batting cleanup on the Cards now. I guarantee Wippy is going to be cursing his name a few times for the rest of the season.

They haven't exactly been losing them. Last year was the first time the Mets took a season series from the Yankees. From 2003 until last year they were tied. And the Yankees didn't just win it this year, they slaughtered the Mets. And we swept you! The Mets are to the Yankees what the Yankees have been to the Red Sox so far this year.

Slaughtered? Two of the games were lost by us because of stupid plays in the field. If we made the plays every team should be able to make we'd be 3-3 again, far from slaughtered.
0-9, that's slaughtered.
BTW, your team is fudging boring. Wang and Joba are by far the most boring slow ass pitchers in baseball. The biggest laughs by the crowd tonight were my "THIS ISN'T FUDGING GOLF!" and "IT'S ASHAME WE'RE NOT BOSTON!" screams. While the crowd didn't enjoy the game, they did enjoy my big ass mouth. That's what she said. |
