It made me laugh. Gotcha, lol. I'm glad to hear you say that, I had been starting to feel like I was getting too negative on here. I've been trying to stop that but I guess I've been a little off today. |

| Iced | #12 posted April 11, 2012 at 6:14pm (EDT) Am I wrong here, or does the article not actually give away the location? He says it was named after Springfield, Oregon. He doesn't say Springfield is IN Oregon. |

| IlovePhysics | #14 posted April 11, 2012 at 9:08pm (EDT) yup, thought the movie was held in VT because it was a contest....besides, we all know it is Springfield Mass, Mike Scully came from there..., "America's Crud Bucket".. and frankly, Springfield Mass is the only Springfield with a tire fire... |

The location that Groening named it after is revealed, not the actual town that it's set in. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |

It actually angers me a little that so many people, who I know personally, cannot read an article properly. Anyone who has actually watched the show knows that the actual location will never be revealed. It's meant to be Anytown, USA. Just watch the movie, where Ned is pointing to several geographical locations that aren't even near each other in real life. It's like the briefcase in Pulp Fiction: we don't know what's in it, we never will, and we don't truly want to know, either. |
| Renaissance2K | #20 posted April 12, 2012 at 12:07pm (EDT) I thought everybody already knew this.I was visiting a friend out in Eugene, and we drove past the bar that Moe's was based on. |
| sinnie | #21 posted April 12, 2012 at 12:33pm (EDT) I always thought it was somewhere on the west coast because:1. Near a beach with rocky type mountains and forests 2. Close to Las Vegas there was some other reasons but I forgot but those were the main ones. |
| Iced | #22 posted April 12, 2012 at 12:35pm (EDT) http://simpsonswiki.net/wiki/Springfield%27s_stateRead that and you'll realize that it literally cannot be in any particular, real US state. |
| Iced | #23 posted April 12, 2012 at 12:54pm (EDT) Also, apparently this Sunday there will be a chalkboard gag related to all of this. It's worth noting that the first Simpsons short aired on The Tracy Ullman Show on April 19th, 1987. Next Thursday marks that short's 25-year anniversary. |

| BasiliskFang | #27 posted April 12, 2012 at 7:32pm (EDT) Oregon: In "Dancing Homer", it is learned that the state capital has a Major League Baseball team. Salem does not. Although Capital City may refer to the city in the state with the best economy not necessarily the government, Portland produces more than Salem therefore leaving more room for debate. Also, Matt Groening is from Oregon and the Simpsons is supposed to be based on his family.Trading Subtime? |
