The wife wanted to get me an early Christmas present, so she offered to pay half on a Switch and some games. Was able to renew my GameStop card to get the buy 2, get 1 offer and got Zelda, Splatoon 2, and Mario Kart 8. What other games should I consider?

I liked disgaea 5 if you haven't already played it for the ps4.

Snipperclips is a good one for the eshop, shovel knight is good.

Upcoming games for switch that should be great: mario oddessy, xenoblade chronicles 2, shakedown hawaii, hallow night, yoshi, metroid prime,

BotW and Mario+Rabbids are definitely the best games so far IMO.

Aside from what you already got, Mario+Rabbids as others have said. Easily my second favorite game of the last year or more (first being BotW).

But it's the good kind of worms, the ones with rocket launchers and ninja ropes.

I second this. Haven't had this much fun in quite a while.

I am enjoying ARMS- very unique and fresh control scheme. Also, if you have some friends that would be into couch co-op, Overcooked is a lot of fun.

Its impossible for a game to not be fun when theres a combination of Mario characters and this battle music:

If that doesn't sound like fun then you're dead inside.

It's Grant Kirkhope, same dude that's done a lot of Rare games. It's such a fitting soundtrack for a game like this.

I didn't think M+R would be good, but I actually really love it.

Yeah, I love GKs music, hes awesome. I didn't know he did the music for this game but while playing the Midboss levels I was thinking to myself that the music sounded a lot like BK. I also loved the remixed Mario 64 castle music he did for the hub, it was nostalgic but also fresh at the same time. Guys' a legend. Said working on a Mario game was the greatest thing hes ever been able to do in his entire time in the game industry and was something he never thought he would be able to do.

Bunch of great games people already said.

But beside Zelda and Mario.

If you enjoy the old school Sonic from Genesis days-
Definitely get Sonic Mania

Can it be bought as a physical release or is it only sold as a digital download?

Sadly as Max said - only Digital...

they even made a Collector's Edition and just had a digital code with it :(

but it is such a great game that I dont mind it being digital only.

The Switch actually had me seeing the benefit of digital copies (on Switch). Changing out carts is quick and easy, but it's pretty annoying to deal with that weak flap/cover. I also can see the benefit to having your entire library on the road with you without fear of dropping or losing a cart.

Mind you none of this is enough to dissuade me from buying physical if that is an option. The option to resell or lend is just too great to overcome for the same price, plus you can usually get a physical copy cheaper at some point.

The carry case I got for the Switch came with 2 cases that held 4 games each that fit snugly into the carrier, so that makes it a bit easier to bring your library on the go.

But I honestly have no issue with going digital on certain games on the Switch because of the portable aspect. That's how I'll be getting NBA for sure.

My issue with the games is that the carts are much cheaper for the most part. They will eventually have some sales on the eshop for switch the way they do for the wii u and 3ds but that could take a while.

And when are they going to open up the switch to the old

Really? I hadn't noticed that much of a price difference for the games I've sought out unless it was on Prime or there was some deal going on. Using Prime, I agree it's better to go physical. Honestly physical is the way to go regardless if there's the option, but there are a few exceptions. NBA is just one of the primary games I've wanted since that first Switch trailer dropped and considering physical won't be out until October, it's digital for me. Plus physical sports games just take up space after a year haha

Also, finish your last sentence damn it. The old WHAT!!??!

I've got to be honestly, I typically loathe these types of games, but the more you guys keep talking about it, I'm considering it. I may bite if I see i for $40 or less.

I don't like these games either. I got XCom for free and never even booted it up. I got Banner Saga and stopped playing after like 3 fights because I didn't like it. I can't stop playing this game though, everything was done so well.

Seeing as how its a Nintendo game I wouldn't expect to really see much in the way of Black Friday sales, plus its only like $48 with GCU, I doubt anything on BF is going to beat that.

Yeah, since GCU doesn't work for BF anymore, I expect $40 is the cheapest we'll see, so it I see it for that, I figure it won't get much better if any.

That was supposed to say they should put the old wii shop channel games and wii u eshop games on the switch(I mean the dkc series, the turbografx games, the snes games, all of them). That is one area microsoft and sony are better at.

As for the cost of games, if you do a b2g1 free at gamestop for the 60 dollar games(55 used, or 49 with power up card), and buy them with credit you miss tax. so 3 games for 99 dollars that could cost 180 if you did the digital download. That is how I got my switch library.

I'll pick up three more games for the switch on black friday weekend, or maybe if they just send out more b2g1 free coupons(mario oddessy, mario vs rabbids, and one other, not sure what game).

The other option is the birthday coupon(20% off a used game on your birthday at gamestop) to bring the price down on a used game(like a mario+rabbids or a mario oddessy that won't get a price drop anytime soon). Or just wait for b2g1free deals
