Ummmmmmm no. It was a horrible comedy. The only redeeming factor was the cops.

It's a surprise for those not paying close attention and maybe if you haven't seen much of these recent type horror movies. There's almost always a trick to them. At first I thought the trick was it was all a dream or some crap, but something made me give up on that theory.
I knew the sister wasn't really there when she doged out the dad. I first suspected it when Anna nailed the chalkboard up b/c the stepmom was talking about Alex [the sister] as if she hadn't just been there 2 seconds ago. Nobody ever directly reacted to the sister and it was very easy to picture the sister as not there at all once you looked for it. I thought the stepmom was bad & a killer until she didn't choke the girl out with the pearl necklace. Then I was like "ahhh, the girl killed her mom, and is going to kill the stepmom." I'd forgotten about the boyfriend already being killed, but retrospectively it made sense too since he'd seen her blow up the house. I also figured Mildred Kemp was the psycho girl's name at the mental hospital sometime before they actually showed it. She had earlier said the line about "who will I tell my stories to?" so it was obvious at that point.
Not a bad movie, A LOT better than I was expecting. I'm adding a point for having 3 hot girls. 7/10. The sister Alex was the hottest imo.
Taken - total kick ass movie, I loved it. I was actually really looking forward to this, and it didn't disappoint me at all.
8.5/10
The Rocker 5/10 - Had a few great lines, but was clearly intended for the younger crowd.
Rocky Balboa 8/10 - Finally got around to watching this. Pretty good, even though Stallone's face is now molded into one wax-like position, the series was given the closure it should have had years ago.
Pineapple Express 7/10 - I enjoy Judd Apatow's flicks and this one kept me chuckling. Ready for this crew to try something new though.
Meet the Spartans - 2/10 - the reason these parody movies suck so much is that they put jokes in there for the sake of making a joke. There's no cleverness or anything like that to them. I got so bored with all the homosexuality in the movie because once you've heard one gay joke, you've heard them all. The only 2 points it gets is from Carmen Electra being her usual hot self.

Kevin Smith and his crap excuses for movies are far worse, so I guess I would agree with that to some extant.
Both make the same kind of movie over and over. After 2, maybe 3, movies it just gets old to watch the same thing with new lines and a couple different people.
Zack and Miri is probably his best....Clerks 2 was also amazing.

Things We Lost In The Fire - Tasteful enough, with some great acting from Del Toro, but it never really struck an emotional chord with me. Not bad, just kinda flat.
I have to agree with the Superbad comments...it's basically non-stop monologues. You can visibly tell they're throwing all their jokes at the screen....especially the chubby dude. He rants and raves without anyone around him responding.
I do laugh at the move but so far Apatow's best is Knocked Up.
Knocked Up or Pineapple Express would be my favorites of Apatow. Knocked Up is the easiest to actually buy, if you can look past someone like Seth Rogan getting someone as hot as Katherine Heigl. Hmm...nevermind, Pineapple Express IS more believable. Freaks & Geeks was easily, to me, Apatow's best work though. Which, he wasn't the creator of the series.
I also thought Clerks 2 was lame overall. Clerks 1 is good, but overrated imo. Kevin Smith turned me against him quite a bit when he started publicly bashing more talented directors like Quentin Tarantino. It really came off as extreme sour grapes. I haven't cared for Smith's films since Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back. Red State at least reads interesting. I'm personally relieved that they haven't let Smith ruin a comic book movie yet, although in all fairness he might do just fine with a comic book movie since he's a giant comic book nerd. He probably would've made a better Superman Returns.

Fudge that. Despite him being an egotistical ass, the dude can fudging make movies, and make them gosh darn well.
ripping off? Most of the industry is a carbon copy of something else. Quentin can fudging direct a film. He knows how to move cameras, he knows his shots, he knows his dialogue, his music mixes. . . So, yes, he's talented. I hate the guy personally, but he is one talented fudging movie maker.
Overnight (9/10) -- Great documentary about the rise and fall of Troy Duffy -- writer/director for the indie flick The Boondock Saints. For anyone who liked that movie, watch this doc about the fascinating tale behind the scenes and how the movie was made. Duffy became an overnight Hollywood superstar but his own ego was his downfall and everything comes crashing down around him in this 90 min film. Really crazy story about a talented guy and his group of friends who let their own bullcrap get to their head. Must watch!

Every artist... wait scratch that, EVERY artist... in every medium from music to movies to painting "rips" off their influences. Except it's not ripping off but "inspired by" the artists who come before them. Any truly great artist will admit to this, the key is to put a fresh take on an existing influence.
If anything, Tarantino has created his own following to be ripped off, influencing tons of amateur and student filmmakers around the world. So what, the guy likes kung fu movies and bikini girls with machine guns. You can't tell me Tarantino's films have a been-there-done-that feel to them.
It's called paying homage to your predecessors. There is no such thing as being completely original.
