Bill Maher doesn't have balls for trying to be controversial. Someone with true balls doesn't bring people with views different than his onto his own show/movie, in his own arena, then attack the hell out of them for disagreeing with him. And on his tv shows, he always brings on 1-2 that support his views to help mock another guest. That's called being a giant douche.
The real people with balls are the ones that willingly go on his show when they know he will try to ridicule them in front of the nation/world.
I like Maher well enough, but he pisses me off when he gets all "my view is the only way and if you disagree you're retarded" about issues. I'm surprised he's not a scientologist. |

Oh yeah...
Push - 7.5/10 - I liked it, interesting story, decent action. It lost a full point for a couple of the "powers/effects" looking funny instead of cool. I wanted to punch the screamers in the face, repeatedly. I added half a point for the hot girl, Dakota Fanning. KIDDING. Camilla Belle, whoever she is, I hope she gets a lot more work. She's probably why my 10,000 BC review/opinion is higher than most. |

YES. My father is a fan of his for whatever horrible reason and whenever I bring up his douchosity he claims "yeah, but they always have someone on that disagrees!" Not only as you said does he have the 2 guests that get constant quips and interruptions in, but you get an entire audience that claps at nearly every word that fits Maher's beliefs. Also, the show is terrible.
Hulk Vs. - no/10 - No. |

Spirited Away - 10/10
Nothing short of perfection.
Slumdog Millionaire - 9/10
Really really really good, but I didn't leave the theater feeling like it should have won all the Oscars or anything. Still though, awesome movie. I think I would have rather gone to see The Wrestler though. |

Surprising to me. I thought it was an ultra religious preachy low budget flop that should've gone straight to DVD. I didn't see it, that's just how the promotional material at my theatre, Starmax, made it look. I'll check it out sometime. |

American Psycho: Unrated-7/10- Not real sure what is "unrated" about it. Anyways, it's worth watching strictly for the 2 whores/Bale flexing in the mirror part.

Stein actually approaches the issue of Intelligent Design from a more intellectual point of a view than a religious one. But I am not surprised that it was sold as a social conservative movie especially in Gaffney. |

Saw V - 7/10: I actually kinda like the Saw movies, I guess they would be one of my guilty pleasures. This one was decent, better than IV and way better that III. I actually like how they jumped around in the timeline to explain more of the series. I did find this one extremely predictable though. |

Life (TV series) - 7/10 - I enjoy the show, but once you start watching episodes of it back to back, you start to realize just how average and somewhat predictable the show is, especially when it comes to solving the crimes that book end the show. The only good thing about it is Charlie Crews and trying to figure out why he was set up and wrongly sent to jail for 12 years. However, while Crews is an interesting character, you might get annoyed at all the Zen things that comes out of his mouth and you'll probably find yourself wishing he'd just shut up altogether.

quarantine- 2/10
This movie blew, especially after seeing Rec first. It wasn't scary at all. All of the characters were annoying. It really is a shame rec couldnt get a US release because they wanted to release this instead. The ending was also much worse. |
Kommie
| | #784 posted March 1, 2009 at 3:10pm (EST) |
Yea, Rec was a lot better. they also added more to quarantine to have it fit a typical movie length, Rec was a little under 70 minutes IIRC |
boova
| | #785 posted March 1, 2009 at 3:44pm (EST) |
It was longer, but none of it was really worth adding. I liked that once Rec started going, it didn't let up until the very end. |

REC was excellent, just saw it a few weeks back.
The ending part (where they are in the dark room) was great, I wish it was longer though.

I've been sick and have had a killer cold for the last week and been watching the hell out of some movies.
The Wackness - 7/10
I was surprised to see Ben Kingsley in this movie. He was brilliant as usual. Overall, I thought everything was really good. Took a couple points off 10 because while it is creative and easy to watch, it's just another take on an old theme.
Slumdog Millionaire - 9/10
After all the hype I've heard and the awards it won the wife and I went to view it Friday night. It was really good. For all the sad and unfortunate events happening, it is also upbeat and exciting. Was it worth all the awards? I don't know, maybe a few... but I haven't seen all the contenders either. Definitely worth a viewing.
Nixon - 7/10
Looooong, at 3.5 hours. It was good though, my interest was held until the last 30min or so when it was just getting to be too long. Ordered it from Netflix as a prelude to watching Frost/Nixon sometime in the near future. The movie ended with me feeling like Nixon was a decent guy.
Eagle Eye -6/10
For whatever reason unbeknownst to me I like Shia LeBoeuf. Typical action flick, but enjoyable to watch. Nothing I'd buy.

White Fang-The movie was based on the Jack London story. It moved really quickly through some parts. I just read the synopsis of the novel on wikipedia and the movie doesn't seem to follow the plot of the book very closely. It wasn't a great movie, but it was definitely worthwhile. |

Ah, white fang, haven't saw that movie in a long ass time.
I remember as a kid I got obsessed with it and Iron will at one point in time and wanted to go to alaska and ride a dog sled and befriend a wolf...the things we think of as a kid... |

Charlie Wilson's War - Very entertaining and thought provoking movie about the Soviet-Afgan conflict and America's influence over it. Tom Hanks was good, but I thought Philip Seymour Hoffman's character was amazingly funny. 7/10
Grindhouse - Both movies are great and the commercials and trailers complete the experience. I liked Robert Rodriguez's film, Planet Terror, but Tarantino's film, Death Proof, was superior in my opinion. Death Proof was far more unique, and at times I was WTFing from the plot twists. 8/10

I liked that, but I'd probably only give it a 7/10. It just could've been so much better. Viggo's 8 gauge was pretty fudging awesome though. Too bad he only used it a couple of times. |
