General Questions
Q: What is Steam?
A: Steam is Valve's digital distribution software that acts as an online PC game retailer and game organizer that also includes many community features such as friends, messaging, groups, stats, etc.
Q: How do I get Steam?
A: Visit Steam's website here!
Q: I have Steam now, what should I play?
A: Steam offers games from just about every PC game publisher. You can also download plenty of quality free titles. Nvidia and ATI users get some good games.
Trackmania Nations Forever and Sam and Max Season 1 Episode 4 are also free to all users.
You can register and link many games you already own with your game's CD-Key! Click here for a complete list of games supported.
GameTZ favorites include The Orange Box, Counter-Strike Source, Left 4 Dead, Call of Duty 4, and Audiosurf.
GameTZ Steam Community Group
Started in September 2007, the GameTZ Steam Group has been open to all members of the site!
When you join, you will be connected to all the other Steam users here on GameTZ. Chat, compare stats, and play games!
For membership, send me a message through GameTZ. click the "Join This Group" link found on the top right of your page. (Group has now been made Public!)
Click here to see the group and its members!
To join the group, please make sure you have a Steam ID.
To do so, head over here and enter your Steam login and password.
Don't forget to put an avatar on your profile!

xFire
The final "essential" program that PC gamers often use is xFire.
Like Steam, it provides many features such as friends, messaging, game tracking, etc.
It's great for games that are not supported on Steam or to those who only purchase boxed PC games
Many of the GameTZ users who use Steam also use xFire
Download it here.

I'm on it lately at some point every day, just not on our server since it's always empty.

Well if you guys figure out a time and a game to play this weekend, I'll throw up an announcement on the Steam group
Tonight or tomorrow night would be cool, I'm up for TF2, DoD, and CSS (Been getting into DoD lately, it's a lot of fun  )

I loved the originals when they first came out. Not sure how I'd feel now. And I have GRAW on the 360...still, I may snag 'em.

Yeah I was talking to a few people, sounds like 6-7pm pst might work for people

go for it basically the tf2 server is up for you guys if yall dont use it ill just end up closing it because i really dont ever use it myself and it strikes me as dumb to pay for it for no reason.

Well our TF2 server was fudgeed up tonight, so the meet kinda fell apart
We just went into some random server and played for a bit
Hopefully we'll get something going tomorrow night

Our main server config person hasn't been on for a few days, and we're not really sure where he is, and I don't know much about TF2 servers, so I couldn't really help when gun told me the problem. Sorry.

TF2 really gets ruined by the butt-holes that play. That said, I had a good time once again, hopefully we can get more organized for next time.

Agreed, online games are easily ruined by asshats and fudgeheads. I'm there the next time we get it going .
