- 18 player game limit - Are you fudging kidding me!? Might as well be called "Modern Minor Battle 2"
- No console, can't change things like FOV or graphical tweaks.
- Can't kick players from games
- 5 second pause for host migration if host leaves game IW.net sounds great.
Please don't buy this crap. Play the single player on one of your friend's console versions.

Meh, if it gets us dedicated severs, I'm all for it, especially if it'll get us our own.

IWNet was built from the ground up for their core audience:

Told 'ya. Straight up copy and paste of the Xbox Live matchmaking system. I have no idea why people thought it was innovation.

Default, name one successful game that has a subscription fee on top of the already existing Xbox Live Gold fee... (Talking about Xbox 360/PS3 Games)
When Activision is talking about subscription fees, that's almost guaranteed to be towards the PC market

The saddest and most obvious one of 'em all: World of Warcraft.

That's not an Xbox Live game though, you have pretty much proven my point
Thanks

Final Fantasy XI? The poor saps with the console version pay both fees.

Also name one PC game without dedicated servers or one PC game that costs $60 in 2009. Activision has obviously come to the dangerous realization that 99% of consumers will buy your game regardless. They're trying to break new ground in fee-charging.
Test the waters with the market you don't care about (PCs) then bring the pain to consoles.

Final Fantasy XI wasn't even close to a success on the 360 though. Same with Phantasy Star Universe. These two games were once again, more successful on PC because the MMO market is strong there and whatnot.
To answer second post, I believe Operation Flashpoint 2 had no dedicated servers as well (and was also a complete disaster).
Activision is making it's post-release money from console gamers with DLC. I doubt that they'll risk charging a monthly subscription fee instead (You'd have to pick between DLC or Subscription). They would likely stick with DLC since it doesn't alienate gamers as much.

God forbid we actually buy a game because we want to just play the game.

What's the sense in boycotting a product you wouldn't normally buy?

Dedicated servers are now available in a current cracked version.

Risk it on your IWNet account and Steam account or pirate the game! Soon they'll patch this out so there will only be one option!

This is why dedicated servers rule, that looks like a blast
Edit: By the way, this is just proving that they have dedicated servers
Not all dedicated servers are like this and has nothing to do with the reason why IW removed them from the game

Triple Post! Noticed this comment on Kotaku, sums it up quite nicely
MW2 really is a mess on PC.
It's became rather clear its a port of the 360 version, and on top of that they also sabotaged the IWengine. Who the fudge does that. Who goes in and turns features off. They have the code for Lean in the exe. they have the code for Dedicated servers in the exe, they have the code for xbox live in the exe, and they have the console commands in the exe too(and in the manual too, WTF, sloppy job IW)

Theres the tweak to the ping bar (bars, really, in a PC game?) to show your ping, and its clearly showing host advantage and 100ms to 200ms ping.

Oh yeah, you know how they said IWnet would be hack proof?www.callofdutyhacks.com
And the great thing, there's no Admins on IWnet to kick cheats n hackers. Hooray!!
Even Crecente has been hit by some of the bugs
"Hmm, MW2 on PC has garbled text for me when I try to play. Is anyone else seeing that on Windows 7?"

Really, Infinity Ward have really let themselves down with the release of MW2 on PC. It has been one huge cock up of a PR disaster. And I don't think anyone can sanely blame PC gamers for their rage at Infinity Ward.
Really if they want to stop developing for PC then fine, its clear they stopped developing for PC with COD4 anyway.
Edit: for those who wish to try out the stuff in above video:
