I currently have a trade going with jppeepers: my 80GB PS3 hard drive for his Kane and Lynch (PS3), FFIX, and $15. The trade was pended on the 26th of April. I sent on the 27th, and he has indicated that he sent on the 27th as well (after I asked him to mark that he has sent, since he didn't until the 30th and I wasn't sure if he had or not).
On May 13th I receive this message: "hey i recieved my games back and they said return to sender? was up with that." I said that's a good question, and asked if he verified the address was correct with what is in the trade report. After receiving no response (he was online several times as well), I sent him a message the next day asking if he had sent again, and to please keep me posted on any further developments. You know, just generally keep me in the loop. The day after that, he sent me this message: "im sorry yes i did resend no prob. i asked the post office why it was returned and they said i put cash in the box and i cant do that apparently? they said customs opened it. i never had that happen before."
Now, that makes me roll my eyes because why are you marking that there is cash in the box? But it also makes me think that he never sent out the package to begin with. Checking his ratings, he has several trades that report him being very slow sending out packages. I also contacted several of his pending trades (ALL of whom have not received their end), and some have informed me it's getting close to BTR time.
Anyhoo, I asked if he sent a money order this time, and he told me that he sent cash again, but just didn't indicate it on the box. He last contacted me on the 15th. On the 19th, I asked him if he has received his end yet (he definitely should have, although it was sent to a P.O. box so who knows if he's bothered to check or not), and if he has, to please indicate it in the trade report. He hasn't logged on to the site since the 17th.
Any ideas on what I should do here? Could a moderator possibly get in touch with him, just so he knows the severity of the situation (not just with me, but with his other trades)? If there is one thing I don't appreciate with other traders, it's a lack of communication.

I traded with the guy before and never had an issue. Unfortunately, this sounds like he's dicking you around in full. Your only course of action currently is to have the mods contact him to make sure he's aware of what's up (as you stated in the end of your post) and wait it out. Sounds to me though like this is going to end in a Bad Trader Report unless he can scan a postal receipt that shows he sent on the say he claims (the receipt will say the country code for Canada, which is 134, or it will say something like "shipment to Canada XXX XXX).

Yeah this guy is not to be trusted when it comes to money. I never dealt directly with him, but he told a guy I was trading with that he sent PayPal but somehow sent it to the wrong e-mail, even though he clicked the "Pay Me With PayPal" link. Then he said PayPal put a hold on the money, which I can understand, but he claimed it was 2 weeks before the hold was removed and PayPal does not take that long.

I've heard of other cases with that paypal hold thing happening. 2 weeks isn't bad, I've heard of Paypal holding for over a month.
Honestly, I don't get the impression that jppeepers is trying to pull something here. Canadian customs does suck. I've heard of many case where they did something annoying and took a while, etc.
I PM'd jppeepers and let him know about this topic.
I'd just recommend staying in contact and try to avoid getting too paranoid. Give it a chance to work out. |

Check the trade details between us. I've done nothing BUT try to stay in contact with him, but he's not making it easy. His current pending trades don't help to relieve any of my suspicions, especially since none of them have received yet (even a trade with a gold star from April 15).

I sent him dvds and he said he will pay me on 15th.... I havent heard from him since... he paid me before with paypal... he just disappeared... i saw his myspace and its odd cuz it said 19 and oklahoma and doesnt even look like him!
ultima_gamer is waiting on his payment as well...

There is no problem with sending cash in the mail to Canada and vice versa. None at all. The only issue would be if customs thought the cash and items value combined didn't match the declared value on the customs form (I assume he marked it a little lower due to fees).

Ugh.
I just sent him a message informing him that I'm going to post a BTR tomorrow if I don't receive by the end of the day, or at least hear from him. I hate letting people know in advance how displeased I am, because it will almost certainly lead to retaliatory feedback. Is there any way I can negate said feedback, should it happen? I've been nothing but courteous with him and sent out promptly, but I just know he'll be looking to give me some unwarranted unacceptables.
Is it sad that this is my main concern? The trade items I'm receiving aren't even that big of an issue for me. I only did the trade because I wasn't using the hard drive at all, and I figured I might as well just get whatever I could for it.

Thanks bill, it's good to know.
And I just noticed the BTR. I wasn't even in contact with that user, so it's kind of a surprise to me that he filed a BTR. Although after reading it, it's not too surprising, really.
I've been scammed out of bigger things on this site, so this one isn't too big a deal for me, but it's a shame he's gotten a PS3 (albeit broken) out of someone already.

He got in touch with me today:
"sorry my internet was shut off and i just got it back today im real sorry about this i have to go to the post office tomarrow so i will get your stuff out to ya. again im sorry for all this."
This goes against what he told me on the 15th, where he said he resent again no problem. So, he's shown himself to be a liar, so I simply cannot trust anything he tells me. I told him I want a tracking number.

If any other traders of his are reading this, is he continuing to lie to you as well? It's actually getting insulting. I've told him he has until this Friday to provide proof to me that he has sent, or else I will be filing for mail fraud.

He told me he was going to send on Saturday, but then I just got a message from him saying he'd be sending soon, and that the reason he wasn't able to resend before was because his internet cut out, and technically, he couldn't get my address. Well, he told me on the 15th that he "resent no prob", and if his GameTZ activity is any indicator, he last had internet on the 17th. Doesn't add up. Nevermind the fact that he'd still have my address on the box from the first time he apparently sent.

Well, Friday is his deadline. I'm going to be messaging everyone soon requesting that we call his local police. If they get enough people calling, they're more likely to investigate it.

I sent this message out to everyone jppeepers currently has a trade with, as well as jppeepers:
You're receiving this message because you currently have a trade going with jppeepers and you either haven't received your end of the trade yet, or you have filed a bad trade report against him.
Last week I gave Jayson a deadline of today (June 5) to give me proof that he has resent my package (check my BTR for a history of our trade problems). Today is June 5, and I have received no communication from him whatsoever since I issued the deadline. I am of course going to allow him the full day to get in touch with me, but if this does not happen, I am going to go through with what I told him I would do from the start: file for mail fraud, and call his local police.
Now, I asked around GameTZ this week and I was told that, although filing for mail fraud might not get me anywhere, calling his local police might--especially if they get enough calls.
So this is where you come in. Message Jayson now and inform him that you will be taking action this Monday (the 8th) if nothing is done. On Monday, If you haven't received notice from Jayson about payment/shipping, call the local Olean police department at (716) 376-5678. One call will likely be ignored. Two might raise an eyebrow. But if all seven of us (yes, he is stealing from seven of us) call and let them know what is going on, we just might be able to get the ball rolling. Let them know that we were not given his real address, but have the PO box address handy in case it might be of any help.
I received a possible address from a user on here (he/she shall remain nameless):

I asked how he/she got it, and he/she said it was through publicdata (I'm guessing the website), and that it also comes up on whitepages.com. Might be Jayson's address, might not be. It's worth offering up regardless. I did a similar search ("Olean phone book" in Google) and came up with:

Olean, NY 14760
(716) 372-0676
Again, both might be wrong, but it gives the police something to go on.
I am going to pass this message along to Jayson as well, just so he's aware of how this situation is escalating.
If anyone has any information to offer on the procedure to filing for mail fraud, please pass it on to me and everyone else. Feel free to message me if you have any questions or concerns, and please, PLEASE take this seriously. What is happening here is theft. Don't be a victim.

Just got off the phone with the police. He took down all the information I had and told me he would look into it. Also sent out another message to everyone reminding them to call the Olean police today if at all possible.

I haven't had trading trouble in quite some time - the last time I had trouble with a trader, I called their house and talked to his dad. My end of the trade got sent very quickly after that.

Most white pages sites seem to point to this location.
Some pointed to another address, which was apparently shared with this Allen fellow.
I'm guessing that one of those numbers will connect you to him, or to his relatives.

I had a trade with jppeepers whilst he was in the middle of moving and he gave me his new address in our trade log. I can't dig it up because it was a canceled trade but if a mod can take a look, it should be there (granted it's still saved in the logs). |

Is there anyway to get it from PayPal? I know he has a verified PayPal account and they don't take PO box addresses as far as I remember.
