I currently have a trade going with jppeepers: my 80GB PS3 hard drive for his Kane and Lynch (PS3), FFIX, and $15. The trade was pended on the 26th of April. I sent on the 27th, and he has indicated that he sent on the 27th as well (after I asked him to mark that he has sent, since he didn't until the 30th and I wasn't sure if he had or not).
On May 13th I receive this message: "hey i recieved my games back and they said return to sender? was up with that." I said that's a good question, and asked if he verified the address was correct with what is in the trade report. After receiving no response (he was online several times as well), I sent him a message the next day asking if he had sent again, and to please keep me posted on any further developments. You know, just generally keep me in the loop. The day after that, he sent me this message: "im sorry yes i did resend no prob. i asked the post office why it was returned and they said i put cash in the box and i cant do that apparently? they said customs opened it. i never had that happen before."
Now, that makes me roll my eyes because why are you marking that there is cash in the box? But it also makes me think that he never sent out the package to begin with. Checking his ratings, he has several trades that report him being very slow sending out packages. I also contacted several of his pending trades (ALL of whom have not received their end), and some have informed me it's getting close to BTR time.
Anyhoo, I asked if he sent a money order this time, and he told me that he sent cash again, but just didn't indicate it on the box. He last contacted me on the 15th. On the 19th, I asked him if he has received his end yet (he definitely should have, although it was sent to a P.O. box so who knows if he's bothered to check or not), and if he has, to please indicate it in the trade report. He hasn't logged on to the site since the 17th.
Any ideas on what I should do here? Could a moderator possibly get in touch with him, just so he knows the severity of the situation (not just with me, but with his other trades)? If there is one thing I don't appreciate with other traders, it's a lack of communication.

Iced, I'm a little late but I'm probably going to call the Olean police soon. What exactly should i say? I've never had to alert the police of anything before and it seems odd given that it's over something on the internet. |

Just tell them that you're reporting an online theft, and the person who stole from you resides in Olean. Let them know how many people he has taken from, that you don't have his address but are hoping they could seek him out and have a talk with him. Also let them know that you know of others who have called to report him. Most of all, just be polite and let them know you'd really like their assistance in the matter to the best of their ability.

bill, do you happen to have your correspondence with Jayson saved somewhere? If so, could you possibly send it to me? I just want to check it to see if he has said anything which contradicts anything he has said to me.

Well...I am just baffled.
I got the package from jppeepers today. It was supposed to include Final Fantasy IX, Kane & Lynch (PS3), and $15 US. I got the first two, but seemingly in place of the $15, he included a Fujitsu laptop hard drive. This is baffling to me because I was sending him a hard drive in the first place. I have absolutely no use for this.
I told him I'll drop the BTR and finish the trade once I receive the $15 originally agreed upon. I...I just don't understand.
I'm under no obligation to send this back to him, right? I mean...I certainly didn't request it, and it seems to be in lieu of the $15 I'm owed, which I did not agree on. Even if he eventually sends me the $15, I don't feel I should have to be arsed to send this hard drive back. Am I wrong?

If he tried to send the hdd in place of the $15, he can pay to have it shipped back then

Well that is still more activity then he has shown on all his other BTR's but yeah you should leave it up.

I would say that you still expect 15$, but if he pays extra for shipping, you would be willing to send the hard drive back.

Called the police, doesn't seem like it will do much though. Anyone think it would be a terrible idea to go to Olean and possibly talk to the police in person or maybe try and find a concrete address? I live in Jersey and have a ton of free time right now. |
