This is the "official" thread for the GameTZ Cache. The cache is a traveling collection of items sent from trader to trader. The items in the cache can range in value from being worth only $1 or so to almost anything. Each trader removes one item from the cache and then adds in an item of their choice. The items should be video game, movie, music, or book related in some way -- although that is fairly open if you want to add anything interesting. (You may remove more than one item if you replace it with more than one item or a single item of "value" equal to or greater than what was removed.)
The goal is not really to get great items of value out of this. It is more for the fun of trading the cache around and make swaps within it.
Try to replace whatever you take with something of equal or greater value.
If you would like to be involved, post here to get signed up and I will add you to the list. (Signups are now closed -- GameTZ Cache #2 signups coming soon!) When it is your turn, you will be contacted by the current holder of the cache. At that time, a trade should be created between you. The next receiver of the cache must send 40 weeks of subtime to the cache holder! This is to help ensure that the cache continues to move along. Once the transfer is completed, the cache holder ships the cache out. When you receive the cache, be sure to report here so that we can mark it on the list and you can contact the next person. When you send the cache to the next person, you should post here what item you took and what item you put in.
Note that since I am starting it, I will actually receive 40 weeks subtime without having sent anyone any. I will hold onto this "in escrow" for the final person. When we decide to retire this cache for whatever reason down the road, I will send that 40 weeks to the last person when they send the cache back to me in the end. Just so people know I'm not stealing subtime here.
If you are unwilling to ship the cache out of your own country, you must indicate so when you sign up! If you do that, I may then need to bump you down the list to make things work. Please keep in mind that you may need to ship overseas if you do not specifically state that you will not (although, I think this will be rare).
I will start the cache off as soon as we have a few people signed up and I have time to put the initial items together (as cache starter, I will put 4-6 items in so that there is always a selection as people swap their single items as it is traded).

Sort of a mix of what Mxyz and Ramsey said.
The address is most definitely correct though, and I will ask the P.O. about sending it again, although I doubt they will do it for free.

Guy and I are discussing this right now to figure out what went wrong. I wrote the address exactly like the one provided with the pending trade... he says it might be because I didn't write it in all capital letters. I'm going to ask the Post Office about that, although other packages I've sent to Canada without all capital letters arrived fine.

Yeah, I'd definitely complain to your post office. Sounds like they messed up and now expect you to pay all over again. I'd argue it.

I don't have time to really be part of the Cache, but I'd like to cover the cost of Helen sending it to Canada again, because she shouldn't have to pay for it twice.

Any motion on this? It has been over another week... I'd really like to get this moving again. I'm even willing to reorder a bit if we need to pop a US person in there to make it easier for Helen -- then they Guy can be next on the list. Just let me know if you'd like that, Helen so that we can keep it moving. It's been dead in the water for too long...

Perhaps, to avoid problems, once it enters Canada, it should be passed along through Canada, before returning to the US?
Might saved some time. Althought, I think this is an isolated problem.

Hmmm... I could see that. Maybe once Guy has it, I'll bump you up in the list. We could have a policy that anyone that joins from a country while it is in that country gets a position to keep it there. Might make sense.
I'll give it some thought and decide once Guy has it -- just in case we end up bumping someone else ahead of Guy to help out Helen as I suggested earlier today... We'll work it out then...

me and helen have been in talks through the gametz message system trying to figure out a way it gets here safely. I also did mention also perhaps grouping the canadians with each other to avoid shipping getting expensive. We just dont want the same thing happening twice, trying to figure out what went wrong. Could it have been weather related?? we did have some heavy snowfalls

No problem -- I moved you down two for now. If you are frozen when it comes to you, I'll just keep bumping you down until you return -- then you can have the next or maybe second next spot at that time.

Things to Canada have been taking crazy long for some people lately though -- especially with some of this crap about capital letters and what-not. So, I'm not too worried yet...

I'm wondering if we should bump Ghaleon up now -- just to keep it in Canada for one more thing (since it took WAY too long to get there this time) -- then Ghaleon can send it back to the next US person (bse) after he gets it.
Thoughts (mainly from Ghaleon, Guy, and bse)?
