I've been hitting the older titles lately. Not sure why...
Need for Speed: Most Wanted - After giving up on this a few months ago because it got too hard (with about 5 blacklist memebers to go) I have picked it up again and only have 2 members left now. I dunno why I'm suddenly able to continue with this but the difficulty seems more about not making mistakes. If you crash hard in one of the longer races you will prob never get back to 1st place so it's better to just restart. So it takes a great run to win but I've been making great progress and have really enjoyed this game.
Also playing Prey which is good but I'm not sure I'm going to stick with it. I'm not too far into the game but am already kinda tired of the gooey walls.
What are you guys currently playing on the 360? |

I'm still playing Mass Effect. I'd probably be finished with it, but I had to start over. I originally chose the class that's a mix of soldier and adept... vanguard or something... but I realllllly wanted to use assault rifles. I'm content with making my other party members use magic and tech stuff.
It's kind of hard for me to continue, though, as Lost Odyssey came Friday and Bioshock came today... gah, so hard to just stick with one game.

I wanna either get Bully or the new Lost game. Nick, I saw you had the lost game, is it any good? I know I'll get both eventually, but which would you suggest?

Didn't lost get really poor reviews? With Bully your pretty much guaranteed a good game, plus you'd get way more play time out of it. I thought I heard Nick telling someone that you should rent Lost not buy it.

I'd recommend Bully but its been glitchy and i just crashed. Hopeful they'll get it patched or something though. |

Yeah Derm, don't waste a full $60 on Lost, its super short, and not really that great of a game, its just fun for fans of the show.
I'd say its a perfect rental, you should be able to beat it and get a ton of achievements in a 5 day period of time.
I'm considering getting Bully, since GTA IV is still kind of far away, but I'm not sure yet. Obviously Lost Odyssey is great looking, but I know I won't finish, I suck at JRPGs nowadays. Smash Bros is this weekend too... |

I'm glad I can actually play this one for more than 20 minutes at a time, unlike CoD2 which gave me bad headaches. |

COD2 was great... 3 is mediocre, 4 is EXACTLY like 2 with some polished graphics, new maps, and new weapons.

Not at all IMO. The multiplayer set up alone makes CoD4 infintely times better than 2. 2 was entirely 2 short. I literally beat it on the mode below veteran (can't remember what that was) in one sitting. I may be wrong about some of this but 2 doesn't have cooked grenades, airstrikes, helicopters, etc. The tank level in 2 was stuidly difficult. They made that way tougher than it should've been. I'm sure there's other stuff that I can't recall. IMO, the story line is much better in 4 than in 2, as well.
As far as new weapons go, in multiplayer, the ranking system is amazing. It's exactly what you want in an FPS (although I wish there were some multiplayer achievements). The ability to upgrade your guns with the challanges is a great addition as well.
3, as you said, was just kinda "meh". It was a good game, but it seems like I'd seen all this before. It had better graphics and more guns than 2, but overall it wasn't that much of an improvement.
Partially, I think the major appeal of 4 is that it's "Modern Warfare". I'd much rather play a current war game than that WW1 and 2 crap.

4 is amazing, 2 is pretty damn good though no major accomplishment, and 3 is unplayed.

CoD 2 is easily still in my top 10 for 360, maybe even still top 5. Its not the cream of the crop anymore these days, but it has a special place in my heart. |

Rams, did you play CoD2 when the 360 launched, or did you play it after a lot of the good shooters and stuff were out?
I played it right about launch time for the 360, and it seemed revolutionary at the time. The graphics and action were all so intense. |
LiL_Ramsey
| | #344 posted March 7, 2008 at 2:02pm (EST) |
I played it later. You're suggesting that it's still one of the top 10 games on the 360. Excellent games excell past their prime. I still play games like Goldeneye regardless of how crappy the graphics are, it's still an amazing game. CoD2 doesnt have near the same appeal. 4 is infinitely times better IMO.

I remember playing COD2 at my nephew's house around the time when Xbox 360 first game out, I was in awe. This was back then though and now that we have the heavenly game that is COD4, it doesn't even compare in my opinion.

Sure, CoD4 is great, but it isn't THAT great... I doubt we'll ever see a better shooter than Halo 3.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but in my opinion, COD4 was better than Halo 3 in both single player and multi-player aspects, and I think a lot of people would agree with me.

I'd also like to point out that Halo 2 and 3 were basically the same game. Not much changed. 1 to 2 was a great jump, so I was expecting much more. Halo 3 kinda let me down.

Okay, you don't like CoD2, but to say that...
Halo 2 was mediocre at best. Halo was amazing. Halo 3 is one of the best games of all time.

The campaign is 1000 times better. The gameplay and weapons are nice. Better and faster online play. (I never liked Halo 2 online.)

Playing through Halo 3 campaign was just like playing through all the other games. The only thing I liked was the 4 player co-op. The gameplay is the same and there's only a few additions in the weapons department. Online play is literally identical. I've played both a ton Online...

I'm going to have to agree with ramsey on this one, Halo 3 just felt too much like Halo 2 to me. Campaign in COD4 is much better in my opinion, it took the COD series to a whole new level.
