I've been hitting the older titles lately. Not sure why...
Need for Speed: Most Wanted - After giving up on this a few months ago because it got too hard (with about 5 blacklist memebers to go) I have picked it up again and only have 2 members left now. I dunno why I'm suddenly able to continue with this but the difficulty seems more about not making mistakes. If you crash hard in one of the longer races you will prob never get back to 1st place so it's better to just restart. So it takes a great run to win but I've been making great progress and have really enjoyed this game.
Also playing Prey which is good but I'm not sure I'm going to stick with it. I'm not too far into the game but am already kinda tired of the gooey walls.
What are you guys currently playing on the 360? |

KQuick- I love CS Source, I'm just saying that CS Source is a few years old, and that it looks better than one of the best looking console games out right now. I've heard CS Source is more noob friendly than CS 1.6, which is why I like it.

I'm currently playing nothing. Rainbow Six Vegas isn't fun anymore. Halo 2 is atrocious. I'm mainly using it as a DVD player, and it's great.

Anybody wanna play some Halo 2 sometime? I don't like playing against random people cause they're much better than me... I highly prefer people I know (and hopefully they suck like I do). I really wish there were bots.

I consider suck not knowing what level I am. I haven't played in like a year, and when I did play, it was only occasionally with my friends. I never payed any attention to my level.
I'm not horrible, probably average I guess.

You're too good though.
I like 1 on 1, or 2 on 2. I just like running around half the time and trying to do the exploits.

Well if your just running around doing the exploits then that isn't really playing now is it? You should ask if someone wants to go screw around in a custom game of Halo 2. Not ask if anyone wants to play a game of Halo 2 with you.

I said HALF THE TIME. I like playing regularly, but it just gets a bit boring after a while.

I guess depends on your idea of good. I'm not some uber player. But yeah I can play pretty good. I however am not some elitest who can get 40+ kills and 1 death.
I dont' know... ask Wii how good he thinks I am or something. Maybe he can give a better idea being another outside source. |

I don't think the Xbox360 makes a good DVD player at all. It won't play any of the DVD-R movies I've tried on it. The old Xbox did though.

I upscale them to 1280x768 with the M$ VGA cable. Looks pretty decent actually

PS3 will upscale regular DVD to 720p. I'm pretty impressed with it as far as a movie-player-machine.

Damn, that sounds pretty good actually.
Honestly, I don't see many things on the 360 that catch my eye that my brother doesn't want on the PS3. If he wants to buy the games, I don't have a reason to keep my 360. I might buy a nice upconverting DVD player, and a DVI port to HDMI port adapter so I can view DVDs in HDMI.
My DVD collection is fairly large, and my game collection shrinks weekly.

on my front TV (65" HD Misc) it only has DVI due to age but I got a Monster cable DVI - HDMI cable and my sony dvd upscale does great. , I got a 50" plasma (Pany) 1080p and the HDMI with my PS3 is excellent it upgrades the DVD to 1080p but my front TV max at 1080i bewteen the 2 both pictures are great its hard to tell 1080i and 1080p apart unless up closeafter 8 feet or so I do not think it matters based on same view light and material being viewed, I have not hooked my Xbox 360 HD player on the back TV to try out 1080p I am not sure my back TV will show 1080p with component cables

I have monster cable component and if you have a set up that will upconvert with them and you already have a good set no need for Hdmi though i really like the 1 cable hookup but would not upgrade if you do not have to
a new version of hdmi is coming out so with better conversion rates ( if you have the right gear TV DVD player etc )

The problem is, that I have only 1 component HD input, and I wanted to use my PS2 for it if. However, if I keep my 360, then I have no available Component HD inputs, and that sucks. I'll look around for more info and reviews, thanks for your help.

You could alwasys get a HD Component switcher. (Probably should as more and more devices are going to use them if you want to take advantage of HD). |

I've heard they are very expensive though. I can get a $5 adapter or a $10 DVI-HDMI cable and be set. Do you have a link to a good component switcher?

Yeah they can be expensive. But they don't have to be. Plus is $30 really too much to ask so that you can have multiple devices able to be connected at their best connections? If anyone with and HDTV says that something that cost $30 is too much to be able to take advantage of their HDTV then they probably shouldn't have one in my opinion. You payed to have HD... why not make sure you can have the best connections? |

Yeah you can buy a cheap adaptor and use that for now. But what about the next thing you get that you want to hook up with component and then you don't have the space? Then what? You are back to square one. My opinion it's better to just get a Switcher. As for a good link.. not really. I got my component switcher at Wal-Mart for like $30. |

I don't really want another large object cluttering up my small entertainment center. If I sell the 360, I can have the Ps2 hooked up via component HD, the DVD player via DVI-HDMI input, my GC through composite, and my SNES through composite. I don't plan to put the PS3 in my room, and I don't plan on owning a Wii again. So really, multiple ports that a component box will give me just doesn't seem worth the extra space and money.

IMO the PS2 looks about the same through component as it does through S-Video or composite. Sure you can't do progressive scan but graphically the quality is about the same (especially if you've been playing 360 games). So if you have to give up a spot, just downgrade your PS2 cables. At least I would if I was in that position. |

S-Video and composite look atrocious on my HDTV, partly because it's an old model and the scaler isn't that good.

Well, obviously the PS2 can only do so much, but the scaler for even 480i TV programming is pretty bad.

It may have been my imagination, but when I first got my component cables for my PS2 a few years back, I could tell a world of difference with GTA3 at the time. You could see the details in his face a bit whereas with A it just looked like a block of head. However, with technology the way it is now and the PS2 graphics, I wouldn't even hesitate to convert my PS2 back to AV if it meant I needed the port for something new. Just my .02

Personally, I think PS2 games look great connected with component, and since it is my most used console, I think it deserves the best connection it can have.
