hah. the gaps are usually puzzle games. like i said, 7 months in the most active gameshare group on gtz did wonders for my collection. we'll have better luck here with future games, since some in the other group aren't really into puzzle games (we generally never pick up stuff like cuboids, puzzlequests, zuma, etc. unless they are extremely high profile). |

still not a bad deal if we wanted to go that route. |

zuma dries my eyes out, for serious. i don't think i blink for an hour at a time. i HATE its save system though -- it only saves if you 'exit' the game and come back... so the 'optimal' way to play is everytime you finish a level without dying, exit to menu... and if you do die, just let your game end (without quitting out) and you restart the level at your last save. i was in the zone one night and got to the ninth stage, then finally died... and now i'm back on stage 4 thanks to having never 'saved'. grrr.
and galatrix is... oddly great, and oddly badly paced. i think i love it? |

Only scratched the surface of Cuboid myself, was fun when I was mesing around with it though. Want to finish off galatrix first before moving on to another puzzler to eat up my time. Wife tried to play lemmings the other night it totally confused and fustrated her, she couldn't even finish the tutorial. |

i wish i could have more quests at a time. and i hate the gate hacking mini-game. i enjoy mining quite a bit, but gate hacking, at least easy/medium (haven't gotten to hard yet) takes far too long for something far too easy. fights, mining, etc are rad. gates and haggling, not so much (best score was 40% off so far). |

have namco (sorry guys, not a puzzle game... had i known earlier i probably could have voted no in the other group and picked it up here since everyone was on the fence there). yes on go! for me, though in generally i'd say lukas is pretty on target.
flock - nowhere near as good as it should be. cute, but... the magic is missing, at least for me.
magic ball - beautiful and fun breakout game, but way too easy. probably great for kids.
elefunk - cool if you like bridge building games, not really my cup of tea.
trash panic - very original, and VERY hard. as in, i think i'm stuck on level 4. no really, it's HARD. trying to get decomposition going is insane.
so yea, i basically have everything except for go, but would put in for go. |

updated matrix.
so far we have 2 titles that have 3 or more yes votes. so how do we want to work it?
I don't think it would be fair to make others who already have a title pay for it a second time, unless they are fine with it.
so the question is do we do a majority rule where if a title has 3 or more yes votes we get it and split the cost by as many people who do not have the title or how should we work this?
do we go with a point system where a yes is 1 point, maybe is .5, and no is 0 and anything that gets 3 points or more is a get?
as far as the games I put in that matrix
Flock - played the demo back when it was part of the free Qore issued and enjoyed it. seemed like something fun to play with the wife.
Magic ball - no demo to play : ( but really looks like another fun one for the wife and I.
Elefunk - played the 2 level demo.... just evil to have a demo that short. liked it for what it was but the short demo was annoying.
Trash panic - played the 3min demo.... that is a pain to figure out what you are trying to do. seems like it could be fun but hard to say.
Go! puzzle - played the demo. the games seemed a little cheezy but when you break it down to getting 3 games for 6 bucks they aren't that bad.
Namco - downloading the demo now. still on the fence as it seems like it would be fun but not really a puzzle game. (I'll edit after I play the demo some)
P.S. sorry if it feels like I'm being bossy, just wanted to get some Ideas on where we stand as far of how we want the group to work in the future and such. Just tell me to shut up and I'll keep quiet. |

magic ball is definitely good for coop with the wife - exactly how i've played it.
trash panic is hard to figure out what to do even with the full game. it's not bad... in fact, in many ways it's brilliant. i just don't know that it's... fun? it's almost too hard of a tetris game to be truly fun. for example, to really get decomposition going well you need to keep feeding it water. which means while you're dealing with everything else, you need to make sure you break open everything that contains water, avoid breaking anything that contains oil, make darn sure you don't accidentally start a fire, and maintain enough water until you get a second decomposition ball... then, if you can keep the board watered long enough after having 2 decomp balls, you finally get a true decomposition tunnel. i've pulled this off twice. it is NOT easy. and even though it sounds like i know what i'm talking about above, i really don't... i figured this out through playing, and i'm not totally sure i'm doing it right. hard. hard. hard.
i don't think anyone would be 'missing' anything without the games being discussed (unlike, say, pixeljunk monsters or even flower), but they aren't terrible either.
speaking of PJ monsters - best coop game with the wife, ever. worth full price, even. |

updated the matrix again.
Now if we go with the idea that if you already have the game you shouldn't have to pay for it again, and the 3+ more yes votes = get and do just a rough idea per person per game it come out something like this.
Flock (7.49) [7.49/4 = 1.88]
Elefunk (4.99) [4.99/3 = 1.67]
Go! Puzzle ($5.99) [5.99/5 = 1.20]
Magic Ball ($9.99) [9.99/4 = 2.50]
Magic Ball (level pack $2.99) [2.99/4 = 0.75]
Trash Panic ($4.99) [4.99/4 = 1.25]
Namco Museum Essentials (9.99) [9.99/4 = 2.50]
46.43 (total)
synth,flip,omega = 11.75
Lukas = 10.08
Kilter = 1.20
(note: didn't add in paypal fees but like I said it's just a rough estimate)
that seem fair? |

EDIT: Ok ignore this I went ahead and used our account and my Credit Card to pick us Flock! for us so that we didn't miss this sale on it. nope, since our total per person was going to be over the 7.49 that flock was on sale for I can just deduct that from the total owed when we finalize the listing of what all we want to get. that way we get flock for the cheeper price and everything evens out in the end.
EDIT: oh and it was tax free thanks to Kilter's address being the main one on the account and him being tax free. of course if we want I could go ahead and get the rest of our wants and everyone could pay me. but either way it's all good. |

i think part of the issue making this one difficult is that originally, this was a 'puzzle' gameshare for selected older stuff that has been slightly converted into an 'ongoing' sharegroup that occasionally wants to pick up newer stuff that isn't puzzle oriented. so i'm now the wet blanket, since i'm already part of existing groups.
the four of you might be better served longterm making a new group and finding a 5th interested in a 'new games' group that covers non-puzzle games. though, that advice probably isn't the best for me since i still want to be able to pick up new puzzle games in this gameshare and so if you started picking up puzzle games in the other group i'd be left out. but for stuff like fat princess, etc, that i'm definitely going to be getting in my 'new games' group it seems silly for you guys to be paying 1/4 in a puzzle group when you could be paying 1/5 in a new games group.

I think Kilter has a good point. It would be a good idea to break things like the namco title and wolfenstein into a new group with the 4 of us as the start so that we just need 1 more. But still keep this one active for puzzle games. This way we can keep this one more to the core of what it was orignally intended for and just keep an eye out for new puzzle games as they come along. As it is right now the only "Puzzle" games we don't have by the PSN stores' sorting (baring the ones listed above) are Brain Challenge, Echochrome, Go! Sudoku, GripShift, Mahjong Tales: Ancient Wisdom, PixelJunk Eden, Piyotama, Super Rub a Dub, and Zen Pinball. Out of thoses 9 I'd say maybe 5 are really puzzle games. (I personally can't call pinball, racing, trivia or the more adventure esque eden a puzzle game.)
Also it might be a good idea for each of us to add our main PSN Id's to each others main accounts so we can message each other on there if need be for quicker coversations and descisions. |

of those, the one's i don't have are: suduko, gripshift, mahjong, and rubadub.
of those, the ones i would want are.... mahjong. maybe suduko if the reviews are good. maybe gripshift, i've never even heard of it somehow. reviews? rubadub gets a no, i think? remember playing the demo and not really digging it. |
OmegaX01

GripShift really looks more like a racing game then puzzle. Here's the offical trailer.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q-_Q4AwvVF4
Super Rub a Dub sucked hard. had to be the worst demo I've played. I quit playing it before even finishing the 5 demo levels it sucked so bad.
Go! Suduko seems to be getting pretty solid ratings. everywhere I looked it was high 6's almost 7's But I think it limits your to just 1000 puzzles.
Mahjong ( lets be real it's really Shanghi but since it uses Mahjong titles to be played everyone has taken to calling it Mahjong) Looks good. I'd be down with it.
well I have to get to work. |

Questions for all:
1. So then are we wanting to split off into a secondary group -Kilter and look for someone so that we can pick up a more random collection of games?
2. We curreltly have 7 (6 +flock since I went ahead and got it at the sale price for us.) that we have voted yes on [8 if we don't want to do the split into a secondary group] do we want to list the remainder of what is in the offical puzzle genra and vote on them as well or just go with what we alreay have voted on and take care of that first?
If we go with the idea of keeping this strictly a puzzle only group and vote through the remaining offical puzzle games here are my votes:
Brain Challenge - no
Echochrome - no
Go! Sudoku - maybe
GripShift - no
Mahjong Tales: Ancient Wisdom - yes
PixelJunk Eden - have
Piyotama - maybe
Super Rub a Dub - no
Zen Pinball - no
Shatter - undecided |

shatter = breakout,, not really puzzle. my other group just got it.
still a yes on mahjong from me. i wish it was real mahjong (as in, the poker style game that's amazing) and not the uber-americanized 'match tile' version, but even that is fun and relaxing.
of the ones i already have, i'd say echochrome is the only really good one. that said, you'll either love it or hate it. |
