I've heard rumblings the the 1.51 firmware has been/ is in the process of being cracked.

Doesn't matter, because I'm sure someone somewhere will release a firmware downgrade to 1.0 or 1.5 sometime.

So basically all you'd have to do is have a separate memory card with the firmware downgrade? Interesting...

Firmware is just basically updates to the system that change how certain areas work, or don't work...Easiest way to explain is that it locks or unlocks aspects of the hardware, as in DVD player firmware, you can remove the region lockout or macrovision, etc.
What would cause it to NOT play stuff? ...easy, the firmware is software that runs part of the hardware, if the firmware upgrade 1.52 tells the hardware to look for coding on a UMD upon bootup that only "unlocks" the game for 1.52 firmware, then you if you have 1.50 firmware it will either ask you to upgrade (possibly via firmware upgrade on the UMD) or it will display a message like "Your firmware is out of date. Please upgrade firmware at http://sonyblahblah.butt to 1.52 or above." and you won't be able to play unless you have the correct firmware flashed to your PSP. Of course Sony will have to include a notice on the UMD's case that it "requires firmware blank" much like FF11 requires a HDD.

It's their hardware, they have the right to do whatever they want. It's up to the software folks to agree with it...after they agree, then it's bye bye 1.5 firmware if they choose.

Good News, Bad News. The good news is someone’s created a Game Boy Advance emulator for the Playstation Portable. The bad news is it runs very slowly, has no sound and won’t play ROMs larger than 16MB. Oh boy, I can play slower, soundless low-end GBA games on my PSP, can’t wait.

get a GBA and a 256Mb Flash cart for alot less then the PSP if you want free GBA Games

THE TRUTH COMES OUT!  Haha, I'm sure now that people can play the games for free, they'll regret having waited this long to play them.  Recommendations for the GBA:
Castlevania series
Metroid series
Mega Man Zero series
WarioWare
Even just those alone are worth owning the console for, let alone playing them for free.

I stopped playing that when I got to the final boss and couldn't beat it. But I just started again last night. My favorite Zelda game so far.

kirby, why exactly do you just keep popping up every so often knocking the PSP? I've never looked into this thread since I didn't get my PSP until recently. Now I'm here and I keep seeing "PSP suxors" out of nowhere.
How is that SNES emu for it? That sure could be nice.

My guess is that Kirby is pissed that everyone doesnt care about gizmondo and when people talk about PSP he gets all fanboyish...
