And j, we expect you to give a niche game an 8/10, what I wouldn't expect is for you to run with the crowd. If you ever gave a mainstream or current game anything above an 8, I'd go into respiratory shock. But as shags said...

Minerva: Metastasis(HL2 single-player mod)-9/10- Very well done, probably the best mod for Half-Life 2 I've played so far. Better than most shooters that I have had to pay for.
Echo Night: Beyond-6/10 weird, clunky, funky controls. Very confusing, but I love From Software for some reason.
Blood Will Tell-8/10-Fun stuff so far(only about 30 minutes into it).

Define "mainstream". Does mainstream just mean successful? People here bash popular games all the time, and I don't see such snarky comments directed at them.
I simply don't care for racing sims, sports games, or GTA-style games. But then again, I generally wouldn't bother playing them and rating them, since I know I don't care for them. You make it sound like I go out of my way just to be contrary. I honestly don't. I sincerely don't find any appeal in Madden, I doubt I ever will, and I don't think that means I'm just trying to "go against the mainstream" or whatever.
Not everybody likes every type of game. Some people hate puzzle games, or adventure games, or whatever else. There's nothing wrong with that. We all have our own individual tastes. That's why different types of games exist.

I have a sense of humor. I enjoy jokes. I laugh more than the average person.
Guru is correct about my sex life though.

Elebits (Wii) - 8/10
Finally got around to picking this up (I've been wanting it since before the Wii launched). For the most part, it's really fun. But the slowdown issues bring it down a notch, plus the opening of doors is kind of wonky. Still, overall I'm having a lot of fun with it. This game really didn't get the attention it deserved.

One thing that really took the game down a notch for me was the fact that it took over a hundred blocks of save space... NONE of the other Wii games I own take more than 5 blocks, with most being just a single block.
With all the VC games I own, that 100+ blocks was just too much.
I wonder when/if Nintendo is ever going to implement "direct from SD" saving/loading in games or for the Virtual Console, because the limited storage space is pretty much my only gripe with the wii.

Tekken: Dark Resurrection (PSP) - 9/10 - Still hard to believe the PSP looks this awesome. Great game, love the Dojo mode (stolen from VF4, but still worthy).

Really now. I'm not very impressed with the SD card setup; it seems like trying to do anything with it is a real pain. |

Here's post #1000:
Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles - 9/10 - Tough as fudge, but fun as hell. I managed to unlock Maria, Symphony of the Night, and the original Rondo of Blood already. The ports are smooth, they both run well on the PSP, although I thought I noticed the music skipping while playing Rondo of Blood.

Zack & Wiki - good stuff, reminiscent of the old Gobliiins games on the PC. Point and click puzzle solving adventure, with nearly as much class and humor as the old LucasArts games. I recommend that anyone with a Wii at least rent this game... it's certainly worth playing through at least once if you like environment and object oriented puzzles.

Dementium: The Ward {DS} 8/10
The controls are great, as are the graphics, FMV clips, music and sound effects. Just like the box says, this is pretty much DOOM meets Silent Hill. |
