I have to agree with Admiral's praise of Deus Ex. That game craps all over many an overrated FPS. Every time I play the latest overhyped FPS, I ask myself, "how is this better than Deus Ex?" Almost invariably, I answer myself, "it's not."

Deus Ex owes everything to System Shock 2. I love Deus Ex too, but props must be given where they are deserved.

Deus Ex owes homage to SS2 but it wasn't an SS2 clone, it had its own flavor. Every gamer should play both, they are neato. and whoever owns the rights for SS2 are idiots for not re-releasing it.
Deus Ex 2 woulda been better without the consolitus small levels, long load times, and constant back tracking. but it's better than a lot of games if you can stand the load times.

I like System Shock 2 a lot also. I prefer Deus Ex a smidge, but I love both. They both deserve props.
Deus Ex 2 didn't do it for me. Maybe I would've liked it more if I hadn't been mentally comparing it to Deus Ex at every moment, but I was pretty disappointed.

Admiral needs to put down the crack pipe.
Half-Life, Deus Ex and System Shock 2 are all divine, deserving of all holy praise, even compared to many of today's FPS (many of which owe their very existence to the Trinity). Bow down; crap on Admiral--poo for joo!

Napoleon Dynamite {DS} 3/10
All these mini-games suck except for one. You're on a flying pegasus in a shmup level and it's pretty fun but too short. That shmup mini-game alone is the reason this even got a 3. |

SSBM-I've been playing this a lot recently with a couple of my roommates, while mixing in some one-player. The auto-handicap really makes this a great multiplayer game.

Yeah, I read a few opinions, no one seems to really be dinging it like some of the reviews have. I think it was Gamespy that called it the first big flop of the next generation, which had me curious. Nevertheless, game looks like a blast to me, although it sounds repetitive.

Did you even hope that this game would be good? Seems to me it would be on-par with Nacho Libre for the DS. |

It does look really good, im just hoping that when i get it i'll agree with the half of the reviews which give it 9's-9.5's (GI, Gamespot, GI, Gametrailers) to the other half which give it 7's (IGN, Gamespy, etc) |

i have AC coming from GF so i will soon see for myself. i think most people were expecting a GOTY candidate and it sounds like it might just be a fun game but nothing revolutionary.

you could say that about any game tho. even RE4 or, god forbid, Bioshock. i'm just saying for the "average reviewer", it's not GOTY-material. or so it seems. like i said, still waiting on my copy to arrive. i would love it if it's a GOTY-candidate and those reviewers are just on crack or something.

Call of Duty 4 (360)- My friend brought this over today, and we played a few hours of multiplayer, and it was a blast. The combat is fluid, the graphics are superb, and the custom classes are very non linear. However, I noticed some lag not present for the most part in CoD2/3, and I feel grenades are much more powerful in past CoD games. Multiplayer= 9/10

Heard amazing things about CoD4 from a guy at work. He's obsessed with GoW - in a clan and everything - and yet he said CoD4 is better. This'll likely be the next game I pick up after I beat what I'm playing atm

Kororinpa: Marble Mania (wii) - 6/10
I love this type of game, way more than most people. But I don't like how most of the challenge is in which marble you use. There should be more to it than selecting a marble that's harder to control and bounces more. It's not necessarily bad to have that, but the later levels should still be tough even with the easiest marble. The other thing I'm not too crazy about is the level design. It's not bad, but there's a lot of wasted potential. They have cannons and magnets and conveyor belts, but rarely use them. I wish there were more of them, and more stuff like that. I do like the control, and I like how the levels are really three-dimensional (ie, there are parts where you have to rotate it 90 degrees and roll on the "wall"). But it's too easy, too short, and doesn't have enough "stuff". I had fun with it regardless, but it really could've been better.

i just played some of Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction (way too long of a title), and this game is da shizzle manizzle foshizzle. graphics are amazingly good and crisp, it's like yo're playing in a Pixar animated movie or something (a recent one). The game play is also pretty sweet, blasting away with lots of guns and crap and various scenes where you have to jump from the right rails to avoid damage (very Psychonauts-ish) and other little "mini-game" things. the story is pretty cool too so far. i can see this game being a system seller for PS3, for fans of the series, cuz it's really quite good, a vast improvement over Deadlocked if you ask me. hopefully it stays as good as it starts.

it's a regular R&C game, game play is a tad different that the previous but it's a single player third person shooter / platformer. it's not for online. not even sure if it has online, but it does have multiplayer (local) competitive, sort of like death match. but the main focus of the game is a single player story mode. i haven't played all the games in the series, so i don't know what one you might be thinking of.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune Demo - this is pretty cool, but not what i expected. this is sort of a cross between Tomb Raider and Gears of War. there is a lot of combat in the demo, way more than any of the Tomb Raider games. there were no difficult puzzles in the demo like TR has (where you have to figure out how to get through a room or whatever by pushing blocks or climbing all over the place) . there was a decent amount of climbing and jumping but it wasn't a challenge in any way and just seemed to be a way to get you to move from combat area to combat area. what this really is, is Gears of War for PS3. you have to take cover or you die, you lean around the cover to shoot the baddies, and there's a lot of killin'. ammo management is important, etc. this essentially is a third person shooter, not really much adventure. in the demo at least. for the full game, who knows? as far as graphics, this game is A+ great. maybe as good as gears, it's really sweet. as far as sound it's also good, decent voices, gunfire is good, good ambient jungle sounds, some really cool "outback" music and stuff. i will definitely be picking this up sometime eventually, but probably not for full price and not before Christmas. Demo Fun = 8/10

Dont bother, if you didnt catch the story in HL it'll blow right over your head in HL2. You should just avoid all of Valve's games if you dont like HL.

There really wasn't much story in Half-Life.
There was a good deal of backstory and setting (shady organization doing secret teleportation experiments) and a couple of plot points (things went wrong, cold-blooded higher ups send in the cleanup squad to bury the evidence), but not really much of a story at all within the game itself.

Ultimate Mortal Kombat (DS)
Same cheap Midway AI that has always plagued the series makes even the easy course frustrating.
Puzzle Kombat is a breeze until the last stage and then your butt is handed to you several times in a row until you get lucky.
Thank goodness for the full-featured wireless on this game (download & play, multicard play, and Nintendo WFC play). Tried the wi-fi last night, and though I lost 4 matches in a row, surprisingly there weren't any lag issues. Good times if you like old school mortal kombat, whether you've got friends or not.
Score: I give it a number out of a larger possible number.
