Ironically videogames have been proven to improve reflexes so there you go
But on the Hard/Normal thing, take SSBB and SSBM they actually made Hard on Brawl the Normal on Melee. Anyway, im not a super expert, but i put myself above average, just below those people who win/qualify at championships for money and crap playing Gears of War, Halo, etc

To tell the truth ive always been good at reflexes like something randomly falls off the top of the fridge i can usually catch it without directly looking at it, crap like that, but i always thought videogames made them better, ive also been playing since i was 4.
Anyway, i would like someone's opinion on a game ive had for almost a year without playing, does anyone know if Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria is worth playing through? Ive not been able to give rpg's the full effort as much as i used to. |

I'm amazing at crap like that myself and when I'm not thinking too much I'm an excellent boxer because of that. The problem with me is that I over think everything. So by the time I respond to things, it's too late because I thought instead of reacted. I noticed this mainly during Guitar Hero when playing wtih friends; I was excellent when I wasn't thinking and just doing, but the second I thought about upcoming notes, I missed every damn one. You have to see how good I am at CoD4 when I drink as opposed to when I normally play Make it go away!! x6

Haha, well the definition of reflexes are how you fast you react, so that may not be the problem, i sometimes overthink crap too, but at times thinking alot goes into strategy. Im an amazingly great boxer/fighter when i base most things on reaction and adrenaline rush as well. Sometimes though when you just "do" things you die in the next 3 seconds, ive got that from playing on harder modes. It depends on what kind of game i suppose. |

The fine line between the thinking and the doing is practice. Practice, practice, practice. And there's that awesome zone, that nirvana of the reflexes, that comes along now and again that's just amazing, like you can do no wrong, like your body knows, your mind knows, it's all melded into one seriously badass gaming machine. Same for playing sports, or chess, or anything competitive I suppose, when the physical and the mental and the present action coalesce and it's just an amazing "zone", so to speak. Sounds cheesy, hells yeah, but you know what I'm talking about. I used to get it in Street Fighter II and Virtua Fighter when I was on the top of my game; still get it from time to time in World of Warcraft (mostly PvP). It all just comes together.

Just started up Lost Odyssey. I'm only about an hour in, but I think I'm going to love it. The graphics are great, the music is INCREDIBLE, and the Judgement Ring or whatever it's called adds some fun to the turn-based battles. I just hope it holds my interest for the entirety of the game.

Yes, but if people gave average games 5's on this site, we'd have a shiotload of flame wars from fanboys of their respective game/genre.

Good turn based strategy fun but pretty basic and no online play (only ad hoc). Plus it loads for all the pretty attack cutscenes, which are cool.

I don't think this is a spoiler, but you should be playing Crisis Core before FF7 since from what I hear, the ending of Crisis Core leads right into the beginning of FF7.

Lost Odyssey - 9/10 - Only about 6-7 hours in, but it's still fantastic. The combat is getting more interesting... it's just hard for some reason. I didn't expect it to be this hard! I had to go back and gain a couple more levels before the first boss because he kept kicking my ass across the mountains. I didn't die at the second boss, or the fight that comes immediately after, but I came oh so very close. At any rate, the game is highly interesting, so I don't mind watching the lengthy cutscenes or reading the (very) lengthy memories. Good stuff, gooooood stuff.
