Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition - 5/10
I know I'm in the minority here, but I just really cannot get into this game. I've tried to play it before on GC and PS2, and both times I got about 20 minutes in and never came back. So, now I figured I would try it on the Wii, just because everyone loves this game soooooo much, and the Wii one is supposed to be the definitive version now.
Same thing, except I think I liked it less this time. If I was going to force myself to play this game I would definitely rather do it on the GC. The Wii controls feel clunkier then a regular controller.
Overall, I get that this game is trying to be a step in a different direction for the RE series, and while the controls are drastically different, it still just feels like the same ol' Resident Evil to me, and I've never been a fan of the series, and I don't think this one is ever going to change that. |

I've never been an RE fan, but I was able to play several hours' worth of RE4 before quitting (got to a part I couldn't beat, then said screw it).
I guess it held my attention more because it had a more action feel to it, rather than walking around like a tank.

Yeah, I really don't get it.
Sure, I can understand why some people would like it and think its a good game. But, I've heard numerous people claim it as "one of the best games ever" and stuff like that. I find that a little hard to grasp. |

Columns Deluxe (mobile) - 9/10
Despite the name, this is actually a double pack of Columns and Puyo Pop. Both games have an Endless mode and a Vs. CPU mode. It's easy to point out what this game doesn't have. It doesn't have multiplayer, it doesn't have the little cutscenes in the Vs. CPU modes, it doesn't even have sound effects, and it doesn't have "real" music (just one short clip for each game that loops continuously -- very annoying, you'll want to play with the sound off). And this is basically the original Columns and the original Puyo Pop -- none of the fancy gameplay features of the sequels. Still, it's awesome for what it does have. There's a lot of gameplay packed into this little Java file. Both Columns and Puyo Pop are very addictive. If the two games were separate, or the price was higher or something, I would definitely quibble about these "missing" details. But this game actually has more than a lot of mobile puzzle games do. There are versions of Tetris and other puzzle games for mobile phones that are just the one mode (usually endless), and that's it. For the same price. Even some puzzle games for (usually older) consoles/handhelds/computers are very lacking in modes and stuff and pretty much have just the main game. This is clearly a better value when viewed in that comparison. My biggest complaint is that the Vs. CPU modes don't have multiple difficulty levels. I think that really could've extended the life of those modes, and thus the value of the whole package. As they are, once you beat them (which can take a while, practice/skill is needed), you're done with them and go back to Endless. Still, this is two of the best classic puzzle games ever, in one convenient package. I imagine I'll be coming back to it for a long time.

The first one got a 9 at IGN. I regret downloading it based on that review (they actually said it was better than the console version!). A 6 is slightly generous. It's not glitchy or anything, but there's almost no substance to it. The level design is very basic, the levels are too brief, there are few levels total, there's only one difficulty level, and there's pretty much zero plot (there's a little dialogue with Jones, but that's it). It's not painful to play, but it's disappointing.
I'm not sure what possessed me to download the second one after not liking the first very much. But it's a good improvement. The levels are longer, the level design is better, and there's actually something of a plot. It's far from groundbreaking, and it's still pretty short (though longer than the first, and it has multiple difficulty levels), but it was enjoyable. I'd actually recommend it.
My cell is a RAZR2 V9. The games are J2ME (Java) though, so my phone is a little irrelevant (almost all phones are Java compatible). The only difference it makes is that my phone has a pretty fast CPU, so I have good performance; some games chug on older/slower phones. My phone doesn't have Windows Mobile, Palm OS, Symbian OS, "N-Gage 2" compatibility, mobile Linux, or BREW, so I'm somewhat limited, but Java is the #1 mobile platform when it comes to game selection. I'm just getting into mobile games right now, so I'm downloading quite a bit. Unfortunately, I can't find a good source of mobile game reviews, or even information. IGN (nevermind the fact that at least one of their mobile reviews was way off the mark) only reviews a fraction of what's out there. For example, the second XIII game doesn't have a review. You'd think they could muster a review of the sequel to a game they gave a 9, and is by a major publisher of mobile games (Gameloft). Whatever. I was looking through other mobile game offerings from various companies and some of these games just don't seem to be reviewed anywhere at all. And I've only looked at major publishers like Gameloft, Digital Chocolate, Sega Mobile, Capcom, etc. Nothing terribly obscure. I guess I'm in for some trial and error.

5? Wow! The Wii version I found by far the best version of the game on just about all levels, especially controls (One of the few games where the pointy controls worked well). To each his own I suppose. 5!? Meh, this is coming from a person who thinks God of War and Halo are dreadfully unremarkable though

I've been playing Assassin's Creed Mobile lately... it's ok. Typical Gameloft Prince of Persia clone, I'd say. The quality on this one took a dive compared to past Gameloft sidescrollers, though. The Splinter Cell games, I believe, have been Gameloft's best. Anyway, 6/10.

I've tried it on the PS2 and the PC and both times I quit after an hour or two. Something about Leon controlling like a tank that reminds me of the old RE games, in a bad way. Plus Im not a huge fan of random dude's backs, because even at the highest resolution it still seemed that Leons back/head took up 20% of the screen. I dont understand why they would put the thing your controlling right in front of you, it gets in the way constantly.
It is a very pretty game though.

I played that one. It wasn't bad.
I tend to download cell phone games on a whim, while I'm out and about and bored (maybe like sitting on the toilet, etc), and try 'em out. A lot of the Gameloft sidescrollers remind me of 2D SNES sidescrollers, and that's a good thing.

Juiced 2 (PS3) gosh darn, I don't think it's possible to make a car drive any squirrelier than this. It's almost like they made a figure skating game but then replaced the ghey skaters with cars. I'm not sure how I feel about this yet but man, it kinda reminds me of how touchy Daytona USA was on the Dreamcast. Only this is probably worse than that was. And this is just the regular racing parts...the drifting is actually easier to do than to keep a straight line.

Not too bad but its really short. Game has some super easy achievements (ie I got 44/50 in maybe 8 hours)
Culdcept Saga 7.5/10
This game is pretty fun, finally beat it the other night now I can enjoy playing it for about 200 hours more if I want all the achievements |

Hmm, if they got rid of that perspective I wouldn't have even played the game. Don't know what it is but I just cannot handle 1st person perspective. Wish most 1st person view games had the option to switch to 3rd person (and not in the crappy way Oblivion did it). As for the game itself, I would give it an 8.5.
That's the same score I give for the game I just recently finished, Professor Layton and the Curios Village. It's surprisingly engaging but the replay value is almost non-existent. Can't really be helped though considering the type of game it is. |

It should of been more of a "Gears of War" type 3rd-person than a "block-my-vision-constantly-while-my-head-gets-chainsawed-off" 3rd person view.

FFTA2 - 8.5/10: Clocked over 21 hrs on it and really enjoying it. Also, this is the first FFT game that I've played, which might be another reason that I'm enjoying it more than others who played the previous titles. Here is a list of the stuff that I like about the game and don't:
+ Excellent 2d sprites
+ Soundtrack
+ The gameplay is rock solid and very deep as far as jobs/character customization
- The battles are a little on the slow side (character animation). Also, you can't skip any of the special skills/magic animations. For the most part, this isn't a big deal and I got used to them.
- I might have to finish the game to say for sure, but from what I've seen so far, the story is very weak.
Now Playing:
