I have it on DS... I got addicted to it.. then very pissed off. I think the only game to piss me off more in the past 12 months is Prinny: Can I be a hero's boss battles. |

Monster Hunter Freedom 2
Not going to rate it because I didn't get far before I gave up. One reason was, while a gorgeous and huge game, there is frequent loading just to go from field to field. It really slows things down.

Fighter's History Dynamite (Saturn) - 6/10
The game feels exactly like Street Fighter II but with different characters and backgrounds. Controls are spot-on and are better than most SFII-ripoffs. Lee is a pretty cool character design. I'm surprised they bothered to do an arranged soundtrack seeing as how unpopular the series is.
It's really lacking for a 1997 fighting game. There is just arcade and versus modes, no super moves and uses SFII-era graphics/sound. What were they thinking releasing this at a time when everyone was playing Street Fighter III and Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter?

This game is extremely addicting and with the mix-in of Street Fighter animations, how can you lose? Very well put-together game.

Jak 3 (PS2) 7/10 - Recently got this here for $5. Lots of repetitive fun. Controls - on foot and in vehicle - are tight, graphics great for a last gen game. My 3 1/2 year old loves watching me play, but why in the hell did the developers decide that crude language and swearing was a good thing for a cartoonish video game like this? I dropped score down just because of this.
Resistance 2 (PS3) 8/10 - My 11 year old and I are having fun with this in Co-op mode. While the controls are crisp the graphics almost make my eyes bleed with their jaggies. I would also say that that there is very little compelling content in the single player to keep you chugging along. This one is all about the online play, I'm afraid.
Far Cry 2 (PS3) 9/10 - I'm enjoying this more than I did Fallout 3. The open world environment - that is visually stunning - is fun to take time to explore. Like most, love the fire and explosion effects and the ability to plan out and execute a multiple strategies to complete a mission.

Arcade's Greatest Hits (Williams) - 5/10
Great games on here: Defender, Defender 2 (Stargate), Joust, Bubbles, Robotron 2084, Sinistar. I love these games, and the emulation is perfect, but they're all on Midway Arcade Treasures, so the only reason to play this older collection would be if it had superior controls or something. Unfortunately, this game is a big fat FAIL in that department. The control schemes are okay, but they're not customizable at all. And worse, there's no analog support (which is definitely useful for the games that originally had trackballs). There is no Twin Stick option for Robotron 2084 -- granted, this may have been released slightly earlier than Virtual On, but if they'd simply made the controls remappable, you'd be able to make it work. If you pretend this compilation exists by itself, then it's a great set of classic games. But since they failed to take advantage of any of the Saturn's control offerings, and every game on here is available on MAT, there's simply no reason to play this.

I'm going to have to go back and change this. The game rates around an 8 for me after beating it. The game was so incredibly short that it just lost some respect. I know it's just a DLable addition to 4, but aren't the huge world and phenomenally lengthy stories the high points of the GTA franchise? Hell, at least it got 1/2....

MLB 09 The Show - 9/10
One of the better sport's experiences I've had in awhile. Excellent presentation, gameplay, management options, just great all around. I'm glad I'm finally able to play it instead of the 2k series baseball games. Those are pretty good too, but this is much better. |

Hit up Dave & Busters and Chuck E Cheese with a couple friends today. Oh yeah, Chuck E Cheese.
Let's Go Jungle - 7/10 - Roffles at this game. Giant spiders, frogs leaping out of water, swarms of bugs! Infinite ammo machine guns rail shooters are just the way I like it. This one mixes it up with motion-based quick-time and button mashing events just the right amount. The whole love compatibility between the two players gimmick is pretty good too. This game drips with japanese cheesy awesomeness.
After Burner Climax - 7/10 - Merely decent game that's greatly enhanced by the motion cabinet and sweet graphics. It's no R360, but it's so fast paced and crazy that it almost doesn't need to be Very short though, even for an arcade game.

Star Ocean: The Last Hope (Disc 1) - This is the game that starts the whole series, since it's a prequel to the other games. You will probably end up spending the first 45 minutes of the game bored because it's nothing but dialogue and cutscenes. However, once you're past that and start getting into actually playing the game, it becomes a lot more enjoyable. I'm probably about 20 hours in (counting side-quests) and I'm sure I probably still have 20 hours to go (don't quote me on that) until I hit the next disc. I'm almost afraid to get RE5 now because I don't wanna end up losing interest in this game.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (X360) - 9/10
Not certain on my current score - it might be a little higher.
One of the best "war" FPS I have played. It feels great having a competent team helping you out on single player, as you feel like you are not alone on the battlefield. Combat feels great overall - I like the feel of the modern weapons compared to what I'm used to using in a CoD game. The game is exceptionally short (I completed single-player on Normal in a little over a day), but I think the length really lends itself to replaying. I'm currently playing through on Hardened and I find myself appreciating the game more. There were also quite a few very, very cool moments - including the sniper level (All Ghillied Up) and the way two critical story elements were portrayed.
One gripe is the amount of grenades the enemy AI tosses around, but the grenade indicator really helps with this. |

I think I actually enjoyed COD2 more than I did Killzone. I traded for KZ on another site (sports cards....traded a few rookies for Killzone) and I only got to the third (?) level.

Ughhhhhhh I'm getting so frustrated with MLB 09.
I absolutely cannot get any offense going. I make tons of contact on good pitches, but it always turns into fly balls and hits straight to basemen.
Its making it really hard to actually enjoy the game, because my pitching and defense is all pretty much flawless, but I still can't win if I can't do anything on offense...
Other then that, the game is superb, which is why I really want to enjoy it. All the management and stuff you can do in Franchise is excellent, and set up well so it's easy to navigate and understand. |

YES. At least I'm not the only one. I manage 5 hits per game most times though I had a miracle against the Phillies with 17 the other day, though it was against old ass Jamie Moyer. But yeah, i feel your pain Nick, I've already gone through 1 controller. Also, any idea how to make your players not go down in attributes? Every one of them do - even the guys hitting 400 |

The best game I've had so far was a Spring Training game I played, and I just equated that to the fact that I wasn't playing against starters and stuff.
I also had that extra innings game today that went to the 14th, I still only had like 12 hits though, to the Twins 20. |

Give it time. Also, adjust the sliders if you need to. They seem to get hits nearly everywhere you throw it on nearly any pitch sometimes, adjust it so they get more fouls and less solid hits along with increasing your pitching accuracy. Increasing your solid hits also helps as well as your timing. I never like adjusting the sliders but it seem it's the only way to truly make it an enjoyable experience. |
