Halo Wars - First time playing this as I had a chance to rent it. Been wanting to play it forever, just no money. Its pretty much falling in line with what I expected. A solid, fun RTS with a cool Halo storyline.....not sure if this game is worth a purchase at $60, but a very good rental. |

from the short demo I played of inFamous, it's nothing like crackdown aside from killing people. inFamous has a storyline, crackdown sort of does, but it's really not there. In Crackdown, you can't kill civilians for fun and not get penalized unless you're fully maxed out :( |

Crackdown was like, one of the biggest surprises of this generation We all thought they had to pair it with the Halo 3 demo to get it to sell.
And inFamous looks great......PS3 is improving. |

inFamous: 9/10 A lot of great stuff in this game. I think what impressed me the most was the lack of slowdown; there were some battles where I was going up against 15 bad guys in the middle of the street with pedestrians running for safety, cops providing back up, and cars and grenades were all blowing up around me, and the game never stuttered. I played through the game as a hero the first time, and I really liked how cleaning up the streets inspired bravery in the people, which led them to fighting back against the bad guys with or without me (despite the fact that they didn't have too much success ).
Punchout (Wii): 7.5/10 The motion controls aren't as intuitive as I would have hoped, but they respond well; using the balance board to duck in and out is fun and a real nice touch. Playing with classic controls is really the way to go, though. It's fun and challenging, and fans of the original should really like the new looks of the old characters and the new characters add some freshness to the fights. But, for better or worse, this game plays almost exactly like it did on the NES.

I agree 100%, we need to play sometime, I am really enjoying the multiplayer. It is not quite as fast paced as a shooter like CoD(which I am not complaining, love the fast pace action.)It just seems nice for a change. |

Agreed! I played it for a few matches last night, and had a blast. It seems to be a bit slower paced, which is great for me, and very well put together. Can't wait for the full release .
We must play soon, we will pwn bishes...well, you might, at least...I can provide cover...or at least some chaotic encouragement under fire...

Super Metroid (Wii VC) - 7/10
I don't have a classic controller, so I'm stuck using a controller. The controls aren't as tight as they were with an controller. Fun game, but lost some points for crapty Gamecube controls.

Shadow of the Colossus
Got the itch to play Ico and SoTC after watching The Last Guardian video. So I picked this one up on the way home from work today. I'd played it before, but never finished it.
Played through the first two Colossi, such an excellent game, about time I get around to devoting my full attention to it. Easily a 10/10 game though, quite beautiful.
I'm buying a copy of Ico off a friend tomorrow after work, so I should have some awesome PS2 goodness for awhile now.

I replied telling him that I was looking to own it, and he was like, "well I could use some extra cash, if you really want to buy it off me you can" |

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (Nintendo DS) -- 8/10
It's the first court-case lawyer game I've played, and it reminds me so much of Trauma Center. And it's got so many twists and turns in dialogue that I don't know if I had made the right decision or not, which is cool. But, it is ultimately easy (I haven't failed a case yet), and the anime expressions A) have me laughing (10%) or B) have me cringing (90%).
It's pretty damn fun, regardless. And the first DS game that I still haven't pressed an actual button to advance the gameplay at all to. Try winning a case drunk. I just did

Crackdown-I haven't heard any bad reviews on it ever. It was lots of fun, like GTA with superpowers. You get to jump around a lot and that's awesome. The weapons are awesome, especially the automatic grenade launcher. It has excellent graphics and I liked the briefing segments when you went to take out a gang member.
Marvel Ultimate Alliance-Pretty fun so far, not a fan of the camera angle though. I only played a couple levels so far but it's fun.
Forza 2-Meh, I don't really like racing games I don't guess. I used to be a big Gran Turismo PS1 fan but since then the only racing games I've ben able to enjoy were Need for Speed 2 Hot Pursuit and Burnout Revenge.
PGR3-Same as above. |

Mass Effect
This game is excellent. I loved the RPG elements, the story and most of the characters. The graphics are fantastic but it has many many bugs like textures popping etc. I would give this a perfect score if it wasnt for the fact that it had bugs....a lot in fact. The combat is very good but it could be better and gets some time getting used to. Main story arc is very short but the replayability is very high.

Bomberman Ultra -
It's fun but the online still needs a lot of improvement. When in the lobby with the other players and everyone has to press X when they're ready to play (the "X" turns into a check), for some reason the game keeps resetting everyone back to "X" every few seconds. This is really annoying because sometimes there's one or two people who don't press X and everyone has to wait for them to get the game started (you cannot kick people out of the room). There is a delay when kicking bombs or detonating remote-controlled bombs, and it just feels very sluggish. There is no team play which would have made it more enjoyable. The SNES Bomberman games are still the best ones to play. |

The main quest/story whatever in Bomberland for Wii is terrible, but it has the old mode as well. You can also edit alot of different match types and tweak settings, it's awesome. Bombermanland is worth a purchase just for that, I'm sure it can be found for cheap.

Despite its flaws I'm having a lot of fun with it.
Cross Edge 7/10. The battle systems is a little tough to work with, but once you get the hang of it its pretty fun. Load times are horrendus. All in all it's worth a rent if you want an RPG to play on PS3. It's a buy if your into fan service games.

Final Fantasy XIII DEMO
100% completely reinvigorated my excitement for this game.
Just based on what I had read and watched, I was kind of assuming this was more action oriented combat, or more real time kind of like FF12. But, now that I've played it, and got a chance to experience the battle system, I love it.
You encounter enemies similar to games like Chrono Cross, where you see them on the field already, and once you make contact it transitions into a battle screen. It's not quite turn based, but not quite real time either. It's kind of hard to explain. You have a meter that fills up, and you can input actions that drain from that meter, and that takes up your turn. It's all in Japanese, so I'm not 100% sure on it, and I'm sure there is more to it that I don't understand. But, I got the basic understanding, and it seems like if you input the commands in a different order, it can change the outcome of what happens.
The graphics are incredible. Obviously Square always does awesome graphically, but there was a few times where it would transition seamlessly from a cut scene to gameplay, and I didn't even know I was back in control until the HUD stuff came up. It's basically just like playing Advent Children, the graphics are amazing.
Since it was all in Japanese, I don't know what was going on with the story and dialogue, but it seemed relatively interesting. Something to do with a resistance movement fighting against the military/government. All the characters seemed pretty cool though.
One thing I'm still kind of confused on is how XIII, Versus and Agito all tie together. They all seem to be set in way different time periods and settings, and all have different characters. |
