It's only like 5-6 hours long. The first time I beat it I think I just fiddled with the button until it worked, I never understood the mechanics until my second playthrough.

If it's that short I might just suffer through it then.

You fix it's broken combat mechanics then.

Just practice. It takes a while but it will become second nature. But once you go 2 weeks without playing it, you will forget everything. |

The controls are perfect for me. Is your controller broke? If all else fails, just mash the fire button down, line up your sights, and let it go.
 |
Forgotten_Freshness

| | #168 posted May 27, 2009 at 11:23am (EST) |
Jeffro, my controller isn't broken. For some reason it just doesn't work for me. I have to mash the button to fire the shot and it's a pain. Also, note that I'm playing the SUbstance version. Is there a difference in the controls between this and the regular one?

Are you fully pushing the button or just tapping it? Those pressure sensitive buttons can be a dog. |
Forgotten_Freshness

| | #170 posted May 27, 2009 at 11:33am (EST) |
Tried both ways. Can't get it to work right. Still have to mash it. Think it might be a reaction issue playing it on an HDTV? I've heard there's button delays on some games.

Dunno. I haven't played many ps2 games on my HDTV. |

I dunno, but it sounds like something wierd is going on. Are you playing it on the PS3 with the DS3? That might have something to do with it.

Forgotten_Freshness

Nope, playing it on a PS2. This is dumb.

DefaultGen

| | #175 posted May 27, 2009 at 1:23pm (EST) |
It's something like you have to lightly press it to bring up the gun, press it further to squeeze the trigger, then quickly let go to fire. If you slowly let go, you won't fire.

How about turning the game off. taking it out of the PS2 and playing something good?

That was the step I was going to take, but everyone insists I keep trying.
I think I'm going to just play Maximo or Zone of the Enders, or Shadow Hearts Covenant. Anything but MGS2.

Play ZotE, it's fairly short and really unerrated imo.

I'll be sure to dog about RE5's controls every step of the way whenever I get my grubby paws on it.

RE5's controls are horrible unless you change them to the RE4 controls. I won't disagree with you there. I hate the default controls in RE5. I didn't even try them before I changed it to the RE4 controls. I only tried them long after to see why everyone was so mad.
And I still have a 360 copy you can borrow whenever you're ready.

Ninja Blade - I bought this game on release day (4/20) and just beat it yesterday. The gameplay was pretty ok, and the QTEs weren't as much of a pain as they are in most games. Not quite worth $60 though because of how short it is and the low replay value.

Beat Mother 3. Fantastic game. The ending was ruined for me though, which really killed part of my reaction to the ending.
As good as Earthbound? No. But a worthy successor indeed. |

Quite a transition when you're used to the punch out series. Great game, though I wish they did a better job on story mode, and had more voices than the announcer and the KO count.

Just beat Fable II today. It almost felt like I stumbled into the ending. And the real lack of a final boss kinda sucked too. Oh well, on to the DLC...

Just finished inFamous.
OMG loved it. Probably my new favorite PS3 game. Also probably my new favorite open world game, even over stuff like GTA and Crackdown.
The action and gameplay is all pretty stellar, but I loved the story. I thought it was well done, and I liked the way the story scenes played out like a comic book. The characters were all very good.
The game is just friggin' amazing, I'm honestly quite blown away, which doesn't happen too often. It's been a long time since I was addicted to a game like I was with this one. |
