...I bought a PS3.
Nabbed myself one for $210 shipped from ebay -- not a bad price, definitely in the price range I had in mind.
Well, I managed to get a different one at $240 shipped w/2 controllers...since the first butt-hole backed out.
Anyways, now that I've gone over to the dark side [lolsome pun, there], are there any games I'm missing out on from the must-haves?
This is the list I have so far:
Uncharted
Valkyria Chronicles
Siren: Blood Curse
MGS4
Infamous
The Last Guardian (Project Trico)
I know Resistance and Resistance 2 are on alot of peoples' lists, but I hated what I played of Resistance 1...maybe I need to give it another shot, but I thought it was generic as hell. I also didn't like Killzone 1, so I doubt I'll crap myself over Killzone 2. Convince me otherwise
Anyways, is there anything else spectacular that I'm missing from my list that I can't get on 360?

Ratchet & Clank: Future is a really fun game. You should check that one out.

Yeah... I think. SMG is kinda a rip-off of the R&C series.

Hated R1, R2 is a bit better, worth a rental. Never played Killzone 1 but heard it wasn't so good, but I love Killzone 2

I hate First Person Shooters and Resistance is one of the best I've played. I loved that whole game.
Also, Heavenly Sword is something you need.
And the asian import of Demon's Souls!

lol, why?
I mean, I know I just spent $200 on a system that only has about 4 games I care about, but I do have some hope for the future (namely The Last Guardian)...and I won't use it for Blu-ray for sure (still rocking a CRT stand-def TV)...but anyways

Heavenly Sword was a bit blurg for me from the demo...I might give it a shot.
Could you point me in the direction of some info on your Demon's Souls? (and don't say Google)

Nevermind. I should read more thoroughly sorry man. Try Folklore, its hit or miss for most but I enjoyed it quite a bit. |

When I've played R1, it always just seemed run of the mill FPS to me. Some cool weapons and nades I guess but nothing is truly revolutionary.

Not interested in LBP. I don't care much for user-generated stuff. I don't want to be creative when I'm playing games...that's the developer's job.
As for that Demon's Soul game, it looks awful. LOL, why the hell would you think that looks any fun?

Uncharted and inFamous are my faves so far though, so those get my votes. |

Because I've been playing it for the last 4 days! And it's awesome!
If you like your games to difficult they make you want to hang yourself anyway.

Ratchet and Clank is awesome - unless you didn't like any of the previous games, you should definitely pick that up. It's probably my favorite platformer right now.
Little Big Planet is great; even if you don't create your own levels or player user created ones, the game is worth $60.
The Mortorstorm games are very good, too as is Hot Shots Golf Out of Bounds. MLB 09 the Show is the best baseball game on the market right now if you're looking for a sports sim.
Killzone 2 and Resistance 2 are probably 2 of the best FPS that I've played this generation. But, a lot of that is because of multiplayer, so if you're not into multiplayer, then pass on those. But, if you are into multiplayer, Warhawk and SOCOM are a lot of fun, too.
I also second Frank's suggestions: Heavenly Sword is really good - I actually prefer the battle system of Heavenly Sword over God of War (though, God of War is ultimately a better game). I haven't played Demon's Souls, but it looks amazing. I'm waiting for the NA release.
Lastly, I played Buzz on the PS2 and I imagine it's just as good if not better on the PS3.

I'll definitely go ahead and agree that LBP is a must-play, regardless of whether or not you make your own content or play online.
The game is *FUN* and the content on the disk is well worth the money.
As far as the must-haves, you've already covered everything, though I tend to disagree with one or two of the picks. If you like SRPGs, you could check out Disgaea 3... especially if you like the tongue-in-cheek humor and the near-limitless amount of hours you could *POTENTIALLY* spend in item dungeons and what not.
Someone above mentioned Folklore... I'm not too sure about that one. It definitely is hit or miss and with its cheap price tag may be worth a pick up. If you can get past its' quirks, its a great game.
I didn't feel that Resistance 1/2 or Killzone 2 really brought anything to the field that no other game did; I'd pass the both of them up. |

It's not a series, it had a definitive end, but you can still get all the trade paperbacks and stuff. I don't remember exactly how many volumes it was, I think maybe 9. |

I meant, did it end... I only read like the first 8 issues or so, then my local store stopped carrying it back in the day. I loved the books. Also loved Oink: Heaven's Butcher and Blood & Circus...it's too bad they never got to finish that book before Kitchen Sink took a dump.
I got out of comics soon after that.

I agree with pretty much everything that everybody else has posted. About all i can add are Motorstorm and Motorstorm Pacific Rift. There are a bunch of ps3 exclusives which are on the playstation store which are definately worth owning as well. Killzone 1 did suck, but Killzone 2 is sic as all hell and a must own shooter.

I don't need the BC since I already own a PS2 and a PS1, so that would be insanely redundant for me...I would have liked to get a 20Gb for the all-black casing (I'm not a fan of the "silver lining"), but I'm not paying the premium prives for the BC-ness.
