...I bought a PS3.
Nabbed myself one for $210 shipped from ebay -- not a bad price, definitely in the price range I had in mind.
Well, I managed to get a different one at $240 shipped w/2 controllers...since the first butt-hole backed out.
Anyways, now that I've gone over to the dark side [lolsome pun, there], are there any games I'm missing out on from the must-haves?
This is the list I have so far:
Uncharted
Valkyria Chronicles
Siren: Blood Curse
MGS4
Infamous
The Last Guardian (Project Trico)
I know Resistance and Resistance 2 are on alot of peoples' lists, but I hated what I played of Resistance 1...maybe I need to give it another shot, but I thought it was generic as hell. I also didn't like Killzone 1, so I doubt I'll crap myself over Killzone 2. Convince me otherwise
Anyways, is there anything else spectacular that I'm missing from my list that I can't get on 360?

He used Manila with no padding. Couldve used a piece of bubble in it. Obviously I was justified to neg, it got damaged. Bubble envelopes are cheap and he charged $4 shipping, his label came out to 2.40

Ok, well, so far I've managed to update the PS3 and delete all of the user accounts, set up an account and a PSN account...I've got my first legitimate PS3 complaint: The controller battery sucks. I prefer the Wii/360 controllers' ability to simply replace the batteries. I don't like having to tether the controllers to the PS3 to charge them--I'd much rather just chuck a couple AA's in there and call it a day. Oh well.
Once Home finishes downloading, I'm gonna pop in some games. |

Enix, the PS3 controller lasts like 25 - 30 hours before it needs to be recharged, and even then it only takes about 45 minutes to recharge in full. I don't see where that's a huge problem. O_o

Is it just me or are the load times on these PS3 titles really long?
Also, yes...Home is ass. How do I uninstall that garbage? |

Go to it in the main PS3 menu, press triangle, and choose Delete.

wait. the PS3 controller lasts about 5 more hours than the 360 controller so that complaint is nullified.even PS3 lovers consider Home garbage. myself included. complaint nullified. So no legitimate complaints beside load times which yes are pretty long.

PS3 load times aren't too bad if you work the optional install on them (a lot of games have those).

One thing I do like is that it's like whisper quiet.
I had my 360 running a DL in the background and I was thinking to myself "man, the PS3 is fudging loud" because I kept hearing this humming/whooshing, then I went up to the PS3 and put my ear next to it to listen...nothing, then I realized I had my 360 on. lol. |

You can charge the PS3 controller on your computer. |

So...?
Regardless of the machine I need to be tethered to, I'm still tethered. I wouldn't mind it so much if they provided a USB cable that was longer than 3 feet. Which means that if I want to do this right, now I gotta to get a decent, long,USB cable for more money. It's just inconvenient. |

I bought a controller skin for PS3 at GameCrazy for $9.99, and it came with something crazy like a 10 foot USB charging cable for the controller. It was awesome.

The biggest pain in the ass on Ps3 for me is frequent updates.
I sometimes don't turn my consoles on for a week or 2 at a time... it feels like every other time I turn on the Ps3, there's an automatic update to download (which usually takes 5-10 mins to just download) just to get into the PSN store... then, even worse, 5 mins or so to install what you downloaded!! It's a pain in the ass if you have people over and the console is doing this crap. Beyond that, I love the Ps3.
I downloaded SuperstardustHD demo over a year ago... and needed to update THAT the last time I tried it. It gets a bit ridiculous, considering most 360 game updates take about 20 seconds. Ps3 start to finish usually takes me well over 10 minutes. |

i wish they would let you background download updates. I have an iffy wireless connection so 4 times out of 5, i get timed out and it has to start from the beginning again. |

I do no like how they have demos setup, what is this download and install crap. First there connections are horrible, there network is slow, a 1gb download takes 15 minutes, yet on the 360 you can download a 1.8gb demo in 5 minutes, and play right a way. Not on the PS3, you have to wait 15 minutes or longer for that 1.09GB demo to download, then wait another 15 minutes for it to install? wtf is that. granted I just got mine so I downloaded a crap load of demos to try games, but still its kinda of annoying.
I also don't like the setup of the PSN store, its the same thing as the PSP store, and it sucks, they need to fix this.
I was also very disappointed when I first turned it on to find out it uses the same crapty os menu setup as the PSP, would really have been to hard to make something new, a little more visually appealing and nicer to navigate.
But other than those tiny grips, I love it so far, lol.

I like the XMB overall, but I agree with the PSN store, it is ass. I thought the 360 store was a dog to navigate...I don't have an HDTV and the PSN fonts are so fudging small that I can't tell what the crap is going on. |
ENIX
| | #144 posted June 27, 2009 at 5:34pm (EST) |
Well, now I've got a legitimate issue with the PS3 rather than a preferential one. My PS3 was contributing to the noise I heard after all...apparently, it was causing a loud humming noise [feedback] to my surround sound and I couldn't hear it because I was playing a game, but when it was just on the XMB, it was obvious it wasn't the 360 once I got near my speakers. When the system was on, it was constant, and when I had it off (I mean switched completely off) it would make a pulsing hum.
Apparently, this is a known issue with the ground for the plug which causes a few different issues, so I had to go out and buy a 3-prong to 2-prong groundless adapter. Kinda gay. |

I don't really mind the PSN store.
Yea, its a bit slower than I'd like, but the speed and downloads don't really bother me that much. I prefer the content that can be downloaded a good deal more than on the XMB, so that is a plus as well.
I found out today that you can change it off of that gay-ass square scrolling crap to an actual list format and nearly crap a brick with how much easier that made things. |

I think that if the game wasn't damaged you shouldn't leave bad feedback no matter how poor the packing was, but if it came damaged they should.
But seriously, can't people buy bubble mailers? I won an ebay auction of 250 #0 for about $31 which is less than 12 cents a mailer and will last me the year. That's cheap!
