I'm doing this thing where I buy a $20 game from gamestop, return it after a week, and use the store credit to get another game, and this weeks pick was Bioshock. I have to say, this game is fair. I only played some, but I'm just not seeing the critical acclaim. I mean, the atmosphere is great and all, but it seems way over-hyped. This all might be just because I'm not a huge FPS fan, but perfect 10 all around don't seem all that fitting.

I see your point, I mean if you list it on Ebay or Amazon for lets say $40-$50 all applicable fees its around $8 right? Sounds as though you expect to get near full retail back for a opened piece of software that you had for a couple of weeks. Here is a news flash your not going to break even selling a used game (rare games aside) you will take a loss there muffin. If it's a new game lets say a month or so old your going to get more then $8 back. EB up here has these most wanted flyers with a large number of games were you get more credit then usual! I took back one copy of NHL 2009 and received $30 trade in! Keep in mind this was maybe 3 months ago a very odd time to be getting that much back on a sports game considering the season was winding down! If your that anal when buying games maybe you should just stick to renting them legally!! Sorry to burst your bubble but I am not the idiot here! You have that market cornered nicely!

This is the type of crap where ppl post too much information and get themselves in trouble in real life. Your anonymity is not invisible here, playa. Be very careful with what you say cuz the wild west polices itself and GTZ has her fingers in every city on the map.

Back on topic...

Bioshock was an incredible game! It's definitely not your typical FPS. There's a real reason why it was so highly rated and I agree with it whole-heartedly! Simply phenomenal!

I don't know how crap works in Canada, but here in the U.S. (a real country mind you), a single game rental for 5 days cost something like $10 (USD). I don't know about you, but that's too fudging much to pay for something I probably wouldn't beat anyway - given that I play it for the whole 5 days. Gamestop is still getting my money, and I'm sampling - er, was sampling (I settled on [Prototype]) the merchandise before I made my final decision. They made a profit, and I'm not stuck with a game no one here, even, would take off my hands.

First off...you had to drop the american butt-hole comment of every internet forum? There are plenty of people here from all parts of the world please do not drop any more mightier than thou bullcrap.

That being said...abusing the system is not against the law and it certainly is up to the manager's discretion to accept the return or not. It is their return policy don't hate the "abuser" as he certainly did not make up the rules. I'd love to know how him abusing Gamestop's return policy "ruins it for the rest of us".

I personally do not buy DVDs anymore I rent from Netflix for $10 a month. $10 unlimited rentals > $15-$20 purchased dvd. Game renting is an entirely different story and Blockbuster charges an arm and a leg for a 5 day rental but you can opt for the game pass deal they have but it too is a little pricey. For me even Gamefly is too pricey to rent games...I would much rather own games and play them to the fullest extent but being short on cash I opt for the $3 shipping and trade to others rather than shelling out $60 for any game. I honestly can wait for titles to drop in price now to where I can afford it at a reasonable price. Just my way of cutting back my expenses. My "Entertainment" budget is <$60...$10 Netflix, $35 Net, ~$15 for shipping now :D

Seriously though, the dude repackaging games is the one you should be ball hassling not the guy just returning games under Gamestop's policies.

I am by no accounts a noob at FPS and I thought Bioshock was one of the best Ive ever played. The atmosphere, plasmids, everything blended together so perfectly. Cant say the same about GAYLO 3.

Halo 3 was about the multiplayer.

Halo 1 > Bioshock when it comes to single player. Bioshock does have a nice atmosphere, not going to argue with that....its just not a great game.

System Shock 2 > Halo 1 > Bioshock > Halo 2/3

Hated what they did with the multiplayer in Halo 3 personally. Halo 2 was the best and Halo 1 invited me to the world of LAN parties...what a terrible stink of 16 sweaty nerds packed into one living room. I have fond memories of Halo 1 and nothing can trump it during it's time. Hell if MS brought back Halo 1 with Halo 3's engine I would rebuy it and enjoy it all over again.

I want to play the System Shocks.

And yeah Halo 2 did have the best MP. I like Halo 3 MP aswell, but just looking at the total games played, ive played like 6000 Halo 2 games (and remember the first month or 2 when games were endless on bomb games) compared to like 2000 Halo 3 games.....but the great thing about Halo 3 MP is I can put it down for monfhs, put it back in my 360 and it will stay there for weeks with me playing it.....I know when I put in Halo 3, ill be playing it every night for awhile.

No way. Halo had some of the most boring, repetitive levels ever. The Library level was so frickin repetitive and almost every level had some sort of base you had to go in and they all looked the same.

I love Halo... great game! something the next 2 failed at! However the first one I would put in my top 5 for single player FPS....

Half-Life
Half-Life 2
System Shock 2
Bioshock
Halo

I loved the story in the first Halo! It pulled me on more then any other FPS that I had played (got into halflife after Halo) Still has some of the best music in a FPS IMO....

Halo 1 was a fantastic multiplayer game. However, the single player was atrocious. If I had played Half-Life 2 before Halo, I can't fathom how disappointed I would have been. Hell, I enjoyed Project Snowblind much more than Halo 1, as far as single player is concerned.

For me Project Snowblind was better than any/all of the Halo games. I enjoyed Halo, Halo 2 I stopped playing halfway through cuz it was lame, and Halo 3 was pretty but felt identical to Halo 1.

And Bioshock was my GOTY, no doubt. The atmosphere in that game was superb and the gameplay was smooth.
