Those blocks exist because someone with a similar mindset screwed it up for everyone else. If I did something like that at work, I'd be thrown out of there faster than you can say "oops".
I don't think there's anything wrong with making a little bit of a profit. What I do have a problem with is squeezing every penny possible out of people and giving nothing back in return, ever.
This "screw everyone else" mentality that seems to have become so popular lately is not only just getting on my nerves, but it has become a major problem with society as a whole.

Explain how I'm trying to screw everyone else... I don't think I am personally.
Am I supposed to sell things below market price so cheapasses like you are happy?

There was a sign, it wasn't there 3-4 months ago, but regardless there was no traffic or pedestrians at all--the cop was going in the opposite direction I turned and he made an abrupt u-turn in the middle of a busy intersection to pull me over. |

Either its not sealed, its a bootleg, or the seller is a moron. |

Yeah, but pretty much all the fakes on ebay are cart only. Man, I don't think I've ever seen more fake copies of a game on there, and they're so blatantly obvious, they take like color copies of the original label, so it's not shiny at all. (Emerald)
If it's shiny, it's real.
If it's a solid color (not shiny), it's fake.
One of my little sister's friends (10 yo I'd say?), his parents make him pay for all his videogames himself (he just got an SP like a month ago XP) and he only had ~$20 left and really wanted Pokemon Emerald, so he ended up buying one of those pirated copies (the ones that are all listed as like $17.99) and it freezes and resets his data after he gets to the 3d gym. Needless to say, I felt sorry for him and traded him my real cart for the fake one. :P Dumb, I know, but pirated stuff is actually pretty interesting, though not as much when it's as common a game as Emerald...
He does have Gold, though, so I don't know why he'd even bother with the 3rd gen...
and yeah, I don't trust anything shipping/selling from China. I always check the "US only" box when searching ebay.

It's good to avoid sellers from Hong Kong or China for the most part.
The only one from that area I've dealt with, toysonlinehk, is legit, but only really deals with old console games like Super Famicom and doesn't deal with portable games at all.
A lot of the bootleggers do try to sell "new" games, though. If the listing states that a game is new, but the box is being shipped flattened, then it's also probably a bootleg.

Wow, nice find. You got some of the best games on the console. Black Belt is one of my personal favs. Wonderboy III. Psycho Fox is actually a pretty tough find as well, not to mention Alex Kidd in Shinobi World and Castle of Illusion. Phantasy Star of course is one of the best games ever on any console(in my opinion). Good job.

You just have to be careful and/or read up on what you're buying. Most of my purchases of ebay have come from people in Hong Kong or China (a lot from Japan too) and I've never received a fake or pirated game.

| | #219 posted September 18, 2009 at 8:31am (EST) |
That's true - as I stated in my earlier post, there are good sellers in those areas, if you're looking for import games. I got a decent deal on a complete Sailor Moon S for Super Famicom a while back from the seller I mentioned. If you're looking for US or PAL GBA/DS games, though, steer clear of sellers in China or Hong Kong, as they more than likely are selling bootlegs.
I've gotten to the point where I ask for pictures on every listing that doesn't have them or uses stock photos.
@ Miracle_Warrior - thanks! There was some good stuff in there - I'm guessing that someone bought a rental store's stock forever and a day ago, and didn't want to go through the bother of selling them on ebay or Amazon. The buy one get one free Sega Special (currently only good for Master System and Genesis - would love to see it extended to Sega CD, Saturn and Dreamcast) made it so much sweeter.
The local game stores are becoming something of a treat to visit, except for the Book & Music Exchange in Henderson - they still suck.

Nice! Those last scores were at a different EZ Pawn near my friend's house that I don't normally go to but decided to stop at on the way home. All 3 of them in town seem to have really fudging weird prices.
I can't believe people are paying about $40 each on ebay for gallop racer 2006 and swbfII though, its crazy.

None of the stuff I post here is used for "flipping" or making money off of.
It's for my own personal collection/use.
Most people that post "finds" here are actually "finding" it for someone else (cuz itll eventually trade hands via trades or sale).
The "finds" I post are generally meant (not always) used for my personal collection and not someone else's.
