...the battery died before you got to save!!!

This just happened to me while playing Mario and Luigi: Dream Team on 3DS. I forgot my charger at home and I was on this volcano boss and just as I beat him after 2 tries my 3DS died on me before I got a chance to save :(

this is why I love the switch. I lost my save data in the same place twice in pokemon sun when it came out, because I would put it to sleep and then not play it for several days and forget to charge it.

Haven't played it since that happened and since got rid of it lol

This happened to me when I was playing Majora's Mask 3D a couple of years ago. I think I had just completed the Woodfall Temple when it happened.

I'm an AC charger miser. I don't think this has ever happened to me. If that LED even flickers red I'm plugging in a charger or changing the batteries. How can you guys play with the low battery indicator on? It's too stressful.

Yeah I know. I am gonna remember to bring my charger to work from now on. I was playing on my break and lost to this boss and my ego got the best of me. Should have quit and waited until I got the charger.

Yeah, since the charger days began I've never had any game die on me.

Happy to say, never ever in 26 years of portable gaming.

Never had it happen to me before on a portable, but once during a wind storm I was playing Enchanted Arms and we lost power while I was in the middle of saving my game. Needless to say, there went my save file.

That's just brutal. I guess it's true then when those games that require you to manually save mean by "Saving...don't turn off the power." is that if you lose power your save file is in jeopardy.

Probably Crystal Warriors on Game Gear. Sometimes you don't have 6 AAs lying around.

Luckily I wasn't very far in the game and its still better than my N64 memory card dying and me losing my full season in Ken Griffey's MLB and all my progress in Turok 2. That happened numerous times.

Can't say I've ever had this happen to me but there have certainly been times when I've been grinding for hours on RPGs without saving and then come across BS enemies with insta death moves that have wiped out all my progress. Those are the games I've tended to never play again.

Insta death and perma death in games just make me sad. That's why I refuse to play games like Diablo III on one life to live mode or whatever it's called.

Hardcore. It's fun! Consoles have the benefit of less rubber banding and disconnects than PC! (though I've seen rubber banding in SP mode anwyays, pretty messed up)

I experienced a lot of cheap deaths in D3 where one second I was alive and the next I was dead. If that wiped out 30+ hours of gameplay I would probably never play the game ever again.

Haha. Well, anyone playing Diablo 3 for any extended period of time knows the game's largely about the restarts. Seasonal progression cycles around it, and legit knowing that you DID get a guy up to Torment XIII without a single death is pretty gosh darn grafitying. Gotta play it safe, excessively, and the progression's a drag and a half but Hardcore has its own set of intrinsic rewards that can't be shown with an achievement or banner pattern. =)

But yeah, the punish is brutal if you're playing in a mode that you can't completely crush at all times regardless of the group suffixes

I was playing Wario Land on my VB earlier this year. Turns out that the battery was dead! Had to get someone (Kwaza) to replace it for me.
