I look at it as something they don't have to do and there are games that I would probably never buy that I have enjoyed, many of those are Indies. I like this month's additions. I also have nearly pulled the trigger on steep numerous times, last snowboarding game I played was SSX 3 so it's time.
Hey, guys. I'm having an issue with my NAT Type. I'm trying to play a multiplayer game, and it went to strict even though I changed no settings. I looked it up online, but where I am, there is currently no access to a computer to check the router settings.
Is there any way around this without using a computer? I also have to use the PS4 wirelessly. There's no way to hook it up via ethernet ATM.

No. Unless you can communicate with the router wirelessly via ESP, you're fudgeed. Call your ISP, if it's their hardware they may be able to remotely "fix" whatever they broke; if it's not they'll tell you to get lost.
If you know your router's IP address you may be able to access it with an iPad or phone or something but it's really going to be a pain in the ass and may not work properly if it didn't have mobile in mind when the interface was being designed, and honestly nobody's going to walk you through that anyways. Go to portforward.com and find your hardware, find the ports you need for your games/services and make sure they aren't blocked by your firewall (Hint: If your network is reporting the NAT is "strict", it's your firewall blocking ports)
If it didn't say Restricted before but it is now that's definitely funky behavior, usually means someone made a policy change on that network, either locally or at the service level. I'd call up your ISP and see if they can look into it.
So I was playing BFV tonight and all the commotion about the female aspect of this game is grossly over exaggerated. The game is fun, COD WWII was also a fantastic game but this feels a little more raw and real. So far I love it.
Yea, I think their marketing campaign and disregard for their playerbase's feedback and insults hurled probably sank what would otherwise be a mostly unremarkable BF installment.
Oddly they gambled it'd sell better with a hyper progressive spearhead. Anyone who's not retarded knows people on Twitter doging about female representation in video games don't actually BUY videogames. Anyways, that guy walked from the company.

EA typically does not do much that I agree with, but I did like the "if you don't like it, don't buy it" stance. Fudge those ass hats that are complaining that there are women in this game, or that ones that said BF has always been about realism. Really? Women are not going to make the game real? Cool, so jumping from plane to plane is? Smashing a hammer against a tank is going to somehow repair battle damage? Oh know I got riddled full of bullets but some medic is going to bring me back so I can fight some more! Fudge these guys. BFV is true to the BF formula. BF1 was amazing! and BFV basically continues that.
EA/Dice did not pander and stuck to there guns. Your right though, they gambled and they lost. Though I won since I got it for $29.99
Yeah, the problem with the "if you don't like it you're misogynists and don't buy our game" stance is, surprise, nobody bought the game.
So, enjoy it if you will. They gutted their fan base to get some Twitter clout and it cost them their projections and their jobs because, again, the people they're trying to court don't actually buy videogames. Not too bright.
I don't thing you're misogynistic if you do not buy it, and I don't think they were saying that either. You had a bunch of morons yelling about women fighting in WW2 and how it takes away from the realism of the game as I said earlier the realism in this game can be picked apart pretty easily. Women did fight actual battles in the war and played big roles in the resistance this game makes note of that. If those people can't get over it then they miss out on a pretty good FPS. However in actually playing they game it's not shoved in your face, I don't see it online though I mainly play DOM and single player? Have not seen it yet either it's probably a campaign we're you play a women character, kind of like how BF1 did it, there were a bunch of main characters that played in there own story during different parts of the war. Basically a bunch of threatened idiots yelling for nothing. It may have cost EA but at least they did not cave and pander to the idiots. Sometimes doing the right thing hurts the wallet.
Anyone else still playing Spider-man for the DLC? Probably about 1/3 or 1/2 through the Silver Lining DLC now. Was kinda hoping when I initially saw the name that they were gonna debut Silver Surfer in this game somehow but it revolves around Silver Sable again. Pretty fun so far though... gonna be rough when I finish this and there's no more DLC and thus no more Spider-man PS4 to look forward to.
> They got what they deserved for saying idiotic crap (telling people not to buy your
> product is stupid) and I feel nothing about it otherwise really. Not into BF or COD
> for that matter.
I like how many just forget about all the stupid crap people were saying, EA had enough and said don't buy it. They did not pander to the butt-holes that felt there manhood being threatened. Yah they are paying for it with the poor sales but I am glad they said it... The stance HAD to be taken. Honestly if people have an issue with women fighting in WW2 and EA wanting to include it in the game they need to get over there stupid crap and grow up. Again I applaud EA for the stance. They have a hell of a game unfortunately some butt hurt Neanderthals won't get to play it.
the dlc is ok, black cat and sable are pretty cool in this, cat especially. if they dont mess this up they have the makings of their own arkham verse thing here, and it could be very good. anyway, dlc is alright, its alot more of the same overall, dont pay 25.
It's a great game that twists and messes with your mind. Headphones are a must when playing for the full experience. It's not a horror game but it's definitely creepy at times. And the lore stories are cool. Makes you feel like you're learning some deep mythical tales of Norse mythology. And it does that all in a slow yet methodical burn.
Yeah Hellblade took me about 10 hours to finish only because I went out of my way to get all the lore story collectibles cause I wanted to hear how they played out and they were needed to get the platinum but if ya rush thru it 7 sounds about right, give or take.
Oh, 10hrs for Hellblade? I was probably mixing it up with Heavenly Sword then which I can finish in 3 or so hours. That's good. I'll be sure to start it this week and get it knocked out. I've been wanting to play it ever since I saw it so long ago.
I finished them up earlier too. They were alright. The story was a little too short and always felt like a B-tier Spider-man issue due to the villains focused on, but I can understand wanting to save other main villains for the next game. I can really only speak on the story though because otherwise it really was just more base and Screwball challenges. The one "side mission" included in Silver Lining was a dud in my opinion, seemed like a build up to something that only ended up a possible tease for the next game, but not one that the main story itself didn't already establish.
So it gets points for just being more stuff to do in a game that's already pretty great, but I do wish the story had a little more to it. For example, Silver Sable's motivation for acting as a villain for the first half of the third DLC was explained via telephone calls, but could have easily been some of the most interesting aspects if this story had more time to breathe and be fleshed out. It's little shortcuts like that that always make DLC feel just a little less-than worth it at the end of the day but I can't pretend like it wasn't a fun time. Now I'm just playing to unlock that Spider-verse suit.
They speculate on that in the article but also mention about the teaser that was shown "The video begins with a PlayStation logo sting, indicating that, whatever it is, it'll be on PS4 at the very least. The teaser is also littered with the phrase "New Projects", suggesting there could be multiple things revealed in March."
My guess is they may add dozens of hours to it like Persona 3 FES and put it on PS4 and Switch. I'd be cool with that.
Yeah, there should be multiple things revealed in March. Atlus has registered domains for Persona 5 B, Persona 5 M, and Persona 5 S in addition to Persona 5 R. Who knows if these will all be versions of the base Persona 5 game or new offshoots like the Arena and Dancing games. Maybe a racing game, as @JD suggested above. Whatever they do, I just need an enhanced re-release of Persona 5. Preferably on the Switch so I can take it anywhere with me, but I'd be totally cool with just a PS4 version. And if Atlus wants to do something a little crazy, they can put it on the Vita. I'll be one of the dozen or so people who would buy that version!
Also, the director of Persona 5 was put in charge of a new studio at Atlus a couple of years ago that will be creating an entirely new RPG that's not related to either Shin Megami Tensei or Persona. Very excited to hear more about this. Hopefully we hear more about it in 2019.
It's not nothing for me; before I had the idea that P5 was coming to Switch I was already starting in on a playthrough on PS3, but that would have taken me probably a good month or two to get through, I work 9-5 like everybody else. Just a good game to blow time on.
It's hard to pick a game like that to play through unless it's God-tier; it's why when I pick up stuff like Labyrinth of Refrain I start to wonder shortly in if I really want to dedicate that much time to it or not.
everything with persona in the title will be had. id def put down another 120 hours to play an enhanced p5 with added scenarios and content. would love to see that be added as dlc for us who already have the game, crimson edition upgrade or something like that, would also be nice to be able to go through with that new data on NG+, that would make a couple of the dungeons easier to replay
it would have been nice if they had put in a way to see all the new story content without having to play the game over again. I don't care for this model with rpgs, if they are doing a golden style or FES style for p5 with added scenarios id do it, but overall id rather they just finish an rpg and if they are going to release additional content allow that to be played without having to play the full game over again.
>> I don't know how you guys can just replay 100+ hour games like nothing..
> I know right? When do you all sleep? Do you work? Have kids? What the hell.
Even back when I didnt have a job, I wasnt able to beat a most of the 50+ hour games I have, I probably will never have time to replay any of them. If I had kids, I propably wouldnt be able to play, period.
I work full time but have no kids. I don't sleep a whole lot (maybe 6-7 hours a night) but I still rarely beat long games. Persona 5 is the first rpg I've beaten in 10-15 years. It was so good though, I would consider replaying it if they add significantly more to it.
Although I did beat Metal Gear Solid V Phantom Pain 100%, and that took 255 hours lol. But that is my favorite game series, and it took several months and I only played it.
Yeah, I can't think of a game as beefy as P5 that I've beaten since... iunno, FF7 probably was the longest game I've beaten before that. I've spent over a hundred hours in Mass Effect but that was several play-throughs and unfinished restarts. And there's WoW of course, but that don't count since the goal of that game is not to beat it, but to stop playing it, or to never start.
I work from home and my work schedule can be pretty flexible so that helps out a lot. I usually work 8-10 hours a day, 4 days a week, but I still try to find the time for games. And if I really get into a game, I operate on like 3-4 hours of sleep during the week. It's super unhealthy, but that's the only way I can maintain some semblance of a life and still get my game time in. It's definitely going to be tougher to do that as I get older, though.
ya i need so much more sleep than i used to, when i was young i could go on 4 hours a night all week and id sleep til noon on saturdays to make up for it, but i couldnt even think of that now, one night of 4 hours and im dying all day, fighting to stay awake on my commute etc.
worst part is i cant lay down for more than a few hours and things start hurting and i have to get up..lol. getting old is hard.
I bought that FFXV pocket edition thing on sale a while back for $8 or something. Played it for the first time today, and man what a piece of trash that thing is. I loved XV and got the plat for it on PS4. But haven't played any of the DLC or seen any of the changes they did or all the stuff they added. So I bought it for $24 on sale on Xb1 with everything, Royal Edition or whatever. So I guess I'm playing through that again. At least the pocket edition thing was good for something, lol.
Wow. Its not as good as I remember. First of all. It looks like ass on the xb1. And two hours in I'm bored out of my mind. This is starting to feel like a waste of money.
Finally almost halfway through the RDR2 story, and i'm kinda getting bored with it. Maybe i just need to play something else for a day or 2 and come back. Though i usually have a tough time coming back to games, after i put them down for a rest.
Anyone give the NBA package on PS4 VR a go? Seriously tempted to snag a VR headset when I get taxes back for the courtside experience deal. Anyone have experience with this? Is it any good? Can you watch with friends like in that Oculus commercial?

I can't wait to play this game. It's insane to me how divisive it is. People either absolutely love it or they think it's boring. There's like no middle ground. I think that's why God of War is going to take most of the GOTY awards for 2018.

It baffles me when I see some say RDR2 is boring, because it's a slow burn and it is kinda meant to feel that way and I absolutely agree with your God of War statement and I loved both GOW and RDR2 almost equally, but GOW for me I feel should take GOTY in most areas because of simply how they executed the story without rebooting the franchise. Most people who I've heard and seen play GOW are nearly absent and nowhere near as divisive as people with RDR2. Now that brand has a bright and ominous future ahead whereas RDR2 leads into RDR1 but it kind of just ends after that, which is fine and all for the time being, but not if you're looking to continue and breathe life and longevity into a franchise. Corey Balrog did and achieved what most others are envious of in reviving a brand without rebooting the characters at their cores and for that alone I tip my hat to him for his success.
ya I don't get that with rdr2 either, its one of the top 10 games ive ever played. its unrivaled but by very few experiences. its more an experience at times than just a game. it can seem slow at times but they are setting things up for a powerful finish as well. even spiderman was a lesser experience following it right away, im playing small games like VA-11 HALL-A and watching anime for awhile before playing another to settle down from it, this is like post witcher 3 withdrawl all over again where nothing mesasures up.

I think i sometimes just get lost in all of the sidequests, as i feel that i have to do every one that pops up. The same thing happens to me with Assassin's Creed games, as well. I love them for a while, then it just kinda feels like more of the same. With RDR, i just always kinda feel like i'm playing GTA on a horse, no matter how much i try and love it. I'm gonna keep going on it for now, as i played a bit of Katamari this morning, for a break.
Don't even get me started on the new AC game. I finished that game last week after a month of slogging along and I can confidently petition why people should avoid it at all costs, unless they rather enjoy 120 hour grind fests with a lackluster ending.
the assassins/Templar conflict is one of the most interesting parts to me, im only up to black flag on the series as a whole, so ive got a ways to go to get caught up but that sucks that part isn't still good
ya the real world stuff up to revelations/3 was intriguing, seeing how what was happening in the past was affecting it in the present day of the game. black flags real world thing was ehhh.... rogue and unity are up next for me at some point, as I do want to play the whole series as I get to them around all the other million things I want to play.
Yeah there's still good gaming to be had in the series. I thought Syndicate was a really fun game. I even enjoyed Origins with the rpg elements. But Odyssey is more of the same as Origins and way more of a grind.
The Cult of Cosmos is the start of the Templars. So its in this game, but its not as good as in the past games. Because you don't find out they are the "origins" of the Templars until very, very late into the game. And from all the people I've talked to, a lot of people missed this. Why? Because you find this out as some throw away bullcrap side quest that most people wont do because they are so sick and tired of side quests at that point in the game. Also the Cult stuff was implemented so poorly. They looked at Mordor games and said, hey this nemesis thing is cool, lets try something like that. But lets split out it into two separate systems. We will have the cult and bounty hunters (or what ever the fudge they were called). And then they fudgeed up both systems.
And the future stuff has become such a joke now. Such a joke. The best thing about these games early days was the promise and potential for future games to have the majority of the games to take place in the modern day. And then they fudgeed that all up. Just threw that in the trash. And then people freaked out and now we get these horrible throw away mini things. Then what they did with it in this game, is just, fudge you ubi. There is something so profoundly stupid that happens in this game, I can't spoil it for anyone who hasn't played the game. But, fudge them for doing it. Its so out there and just wtf are you even doing.
Man, the lack of the real world stuff is one of the reasons I lost interest in the series. I was hoping Odyssey would be the one to pull me back in, but none of you guys seem to have enjoyed it and I really don't think I can handle something that just feels like a grind.
Oh, don't get me wrong. I had fun with the game. Because I do like the core of what the game play is. But it is one of my top 3 most disappointing games of his year. And its probably on my top 10 of most liked Franchises of all time. AND on my top 5 most disappointing franchise of all time. So take that how you will.
Ya what Archer said. Cult is the birth of the Templar order kinda. I mean the game had so much damn potential. Gameplay is fun at times and it infuriates me that it was about 40-50 hours longer than it needed to be. I was looking forward to this game until I heard about the microtransactions and sheer audacity for them to come out of their slimy malformed faces and say that we need to cough up $10 to level up at a barely normal feeling pace. I mean Odyssey was an okay story and did have some cool core mechanics, they were just both buried under some of the most throwaway cookie cutter side quests and nonsense grinding I have ever witnessed. All because Ubi had to pacify it's shareholders to make this game stretch out and last a good part of 2019 since there is no new Creed game coming this year and you can't count the AC3 remake, cause that is technically another fatigued port. I truly think I am done with Ubi games for a good, long while. Odyssey put that nail in the Ubi coffin for me.
Quick external hard drive question because Google failed me or I didn't search what I wanted correctly. If I have an external hard drive plugged into my PS4 and I want to move it to another one so I don't have to install games and download updates again, will it work like it does on Xbox One or does it reformat and all that nonsense like it does for PS4 internal drives? Does anyone know?
I've never put a game on an external so I don't know if it will play the game (it should). But I've used the same external between my two systems to add mod files for a game (PES). And to play media files. And never had an issue.
just watched the trailers and materials for Ace Combat 7 again and the hair on my arm is standing straight up, i absolutely can not wait for this def one of, maybe my most anticipated game this year (i am pretty eagerly awaiting those yakuza remasters though), its ALMOST here... i cant stand it. comes out on a long weekend for me too!!
I got a 3tb external last year and moved exsisting installation over just fine. It took awhile but it was transfering 850 gigs. I have had no issues with playing of an external. I have not tried two externals but everything I have read says the you could have two connected only one will work.
I don't understand the lack of reverence for Abyss on this site. Clear winnar. Let's chalk it up, @Gypsy :
Abyss Best Default Battle Theme, Hands Down, Series Wide, Contender for Genre-Wide Best Supporting Cast Actual Protagonist Character Development, Japan First in Video Games Second Best Intro Story Doesn't Make You Want to Barf Much Excellent Battle Pacing Interesting "Fake Hedgehog" Sonic/Shadow Dynamic On the Side
Vesperia Probably Has Good Music I Haven't Gotten To Best Intro with Possible Best Localization of Intro in History Because Fudge Utada Hikaru AND Kingdom Hearts Probably Good Gameplay and Supporting Characters I Haven't Gotten To Probably Good Story I Haven't Gotten To Don't Think I Liked Battle Pace As Much as Abyss Yet Another Superman Protag
>> Don't hold your breath. The 3DS version was definitely copy pasta, and squinting
>> at a small screen does not improve the game feel
> Yeah the 3DS version definitely does not count. I'd buy a PS4 remake. Hell I will
> grab Vespy on PS4 despite currently having it twice on 360 (regular and steelbook
I'll trust that at some point this one actually gets better but I honestly didn't have any issues with the story that I can remember in Abyss, most of the characters seemed pretty reasonable (and hated the protag because he was a chicken, and he had to work hard to not be "that chicken in our party")... honestly I didn't think it was that trope-y, but I guess I could be mis-remembering. I got pretty far (further than most Tales games) but I think I gave up in some sort of mountain because I didn't like the slog through the mountain, nothing to do with the story. But that was at least 30, and I think closer to 50 hours in.
My biggest issue with most Tales games is the delivery of the story. There are usually extended periods of nothing and then big exposition dumps. Then you always get to a point where it feels like the game is about to end but really there is at least another 20 hours to go.
Or you hit credits and you're halfway through the game. I actually quit Legendia after the first credit roll, when it started up with the new character, I actually smiled and turned off the TV and said "good game"
Just bigger, mostly, lol. Surprisingly faithful translation to 3DS minus some speech I think (maybe not even that) but playing a long-form JRPG on a two inch screen's a dicey proposition. But I couldn't play it long either, tried twice
That is what I mean. Trying to play a long ass game like that on a 3ds is not fun (oddly never had issues with PSP or Vita ones though). Something about the 3ds form factor makes holding that thing for more than 20 minutes uncomfortable to me. And its the main reason why I've never seen further than what I assume was maybe close to half way through it. And I'm not really interested now in buying a PS2 again for the 12th time or whatever it would be. It would be nice if it hit PS4 as a PS2 classic title though. But that will never happen. The only other one that I started to play and never finished was Zestiria. But that was because I hated that game.
DQ8's probably worth a buy, I'd wait for a list of 4-5 games to pick one up though, but if you see one in the wild priced decently, pick it up. The prices on working systems is starting to skyrocket a bit.
With any luck Vesperia will do well and they'll consider reaching back into the catalog to revive some other games. I think Abyss would be an attractive re-polish title.
I think Resident Evil 2 may be my last game I try to play through for a bit. It's one of my all time favorites in one of my all time favorite game series, so if I can't even make it through that, then I'm not sure what my gaming future holds. I've started and quit so many games recently that I've just resigned myself to playing Siege and Path of Exile with friends when I have the time. Hopefully Resident Evil 2 rekindles the flame some otherwise I'll be selling my ps4 pro/games and trying again later. /short rant

Yeah, that's likely it. I'm convinced RE2 will be one I play for sure, but nothing else right now is taking hold too much. Time constraints and lack of interest has been hampering my enjoyment for sure.
I don't even know what they were thinking with Revolution. Nobody asked for that. Glad they came to their senses and took the series back to its roots. VC4 isn't perfect, but it's pretty damn good. Glad you're enjoying it

Yeah I'd probably give it an 8.
I posted this recently on another site, covering my biggest issue with the game
Nearing the end now. The game really ramps up in the 2nd half in multiple ways. This is the VC sequel I always wanted. Doesn't re-invent the wheel but adds interesting touches and changes to the game. I like the simplifications of character classes as well as the addition of grenadiers. I don't like how there are missions where there is obviously more to them but you can't possibly know what is going to happen until after you complete the objective then the parameters change. The issue with this is it's possible to play well and screw yourself badly once the mission changes and new (sometimes invincible) enemy units come in. Of course once you know the jig is up and it's very easy to plan accordingly. Just kind of feels a bit cheap in that regard.
ya, I got to where I was taking pretty much the same loadouts into every mission so id be ready for anything. but the game is so good that was a minor gripe for me. if I can finish FOTNS before ace combat 7 hits I need to back and play the squad 7 DLC, theres no way I can beat FOTNS and Vesperia before AC7 so Vesp will have to wait til after the skies of Strangereal are safe again.
@tonymack21 so far it was really only two missions that were super annoying in that regard. I use the same general squad too but in that mission where
you just have to "capture two enemy camps" but then when you do that Crymaria appears near one of them and well absolutely shred anything you leave there since she gets to move twice and just wrecks everything. I knew something was up because it was too easy but you can't really predict where Crymaria is going to appear.
Once I knew that I got A rank easily on the next try.
> @tonymack21 so far it was really only two missions that were super annoying in that
> regard. I use the same general squad too but in that mission where ... Once I knew
> that I got A rank easily on the next try.
ya that was a tougher one going in not knowing that, but at least she can really only attack you one way and if you keep under something she isn't much of a threat, but not knowing shes coming and then catching you exposed its like raining death lol.
Oh yeah it's actually really easy once you know how it plays out.
I just left the Hafen over there to keep her attention while pounding Walz's tank with two grenadiers. Since you control when the 2nd part of the mission triggers it's easy to get everyone else out of that half of the map before doing so.
ya i think so too. ya i like kai as well, i found a lot of the characters to be pretty likable, i wasn't sure about claude at first but he was alright. kai and raz were def among my faves but i think they intend it to be that way.
which kai? lol kai or leena i liked her as well, and Raz of course
> ive been ready for a ridiculous amount of time, one of my top series ever, been so
> long since AC6.
Dude, that footage got me so hyped. Really looking forward to trying it in VR although I read that you can only play a few non-story missions. It's a bit of a bummer, but it should still be a really cool experience.
I'm absolutely blown away, with how good they're made the Spyro trilogy look. Just started it this morning, and it's bringing back those fond memories of PS1. The controls aren't frustrating like i remember them being, back in the day, either. I really needed a game like this, after RDR2. I have no complaints, especially with Spyro only costing me a bit over $8, out of pocket.
The original Spyro is such a special game. I'm glad people are enjoying it and that it has held up. I was worried that it would feel too dated. I'm looking forward to revisiting those games at some point. Maybe the reception to this trilogy will make Insomniac consider a new Spyro game. I wouldn't be against that idea.
All jokes aside I am on the fence about it, I don't really care about disney characters etc, but I am looking for a new game to get into and that is the only coming out soon that I can think of that is a 1st player good game.
If you can shut your brain off and just enjoy it for purely nostalgia, KH is a fun action/RPG romp. I have had KH3 preordered for about 3 years and I may have to take a day or 2 off in February since both that and RE2 drops on the same effin' day.
I liked the former KH games alright....the gameplay is Average, but I'm a Disney/FF fan so the presentation always appealed to me. I think I may put KH3 in the "wait for a sale" bucket with Resident Evil 2, God of War, Bayonetta Switch, and DK Tropical Freeze.
if youre looking for a good rpg there are lots of good ones, id play tales of vesperia over KH if id never played the old ones, but there are some good summary videos to catch up on KH story at least so that's good, KH1 in particular ive heard hasn't aged well and from my memory of it I can def see that. Im looking forward to finally really sinking into the Trails of series as well.
> Any words on ffxv save working for royal edition?
I need to fire that up, I honestly forgot with all the stuff I have going, I will knwo tonight for sure.

I don't really know about or feel those "Tales" games, it seems like a slog, some of the games are remasters or were on portable or are 10 years old etc., everyone here seems to either hate one and love another, then another person hates that same one because it's long and boring etc. There's no nostalgia for me since I've never played any of those.
I think I just want a new RPG or 3rd person type game and not .
When Kingdom Hearts III hits you all with that 90 on Metacritic, you'll all be singing a different tune. Hopefully anyway lol. Seriously though, I played Kingdom Hearts 2.8 which gives you a taste of what KH3 will look and play like and I was completely sold. It plays like a dream! I'm certain it's going to be a great game.
I mean, c'mon. A sixty trillion dollar Square Enix game isn't going to average below 80%. Game journos have such completely diminished critical eyes (or are looking at things other than the actual game to come to a conclusion) that unless the game is quite literally broken, it's gonna score well. Kingdom Hearts was literally designed to appeal to as large a spectrum of consumers and gamers as humanly possible. It could be 100% non-interactive and it'd still get a 78 on Gamespot.
You're not wrong. Odds are it'll score over an 80 just because of brand recognition and the budget. But like I pointed out, based on Kingdom Hearts 2.8 which is a prologue to KH3, this game will also review well because of how well it plays. I can't stress enough just how fun and mechanically sound the gameplay is. It probably won't hit 90 because the story will be a mess and because very few games hit 90, but the combination of that mass appeal you mentioned and the fantastic core mechanics should lead to very positive reviews from critics and gamers alike. I understand that the KH games don't really hold up at all, but I hope that doesn't stop people from checking this one out.
Ya I'm predicting KH3 will sit at about an 7.5-8 average in the ratings with critics but fare better with fans. I hope I'm proven wrong though and it gets a RDR2 or GOW like score but that's a fat chance since it's been in development hell the last near decade.

> I would love this!
Ratchet and Clank (the newest one) was probably my favorite platformer in recent memory up until Odessey came out. They did an amazing job. I plan on getting spyro at some point maybe on a better flash sale or something, I never really played much of the original so it's basically new to me.
Insomniac is in a pretty great place right now. They could make a new R&C, a new Spyro, another Spider-Man game, or even a sequel to Sunset Overdrive and people would be happy. Not many developers have that many options.
there is a rumor that spiderman is getting more dlc that will feature the fantastic four, I would be all about this as FF is a fav of mine, use to read every issue back in the day. while I am in for that, Id rather they work on a sequel than continue to release $25 dlc chapters.
I just want Fantastic Four or the X-Men to get the Spider-Man treatment. A proper AAA game with co-op for either one of them would be so sweet! I'm not interested in paying money for Fantastic Four DLC. I hope it's just a new suit or something.

Preach. Also, just look at the metacritic scale and how it's different for everything BUT video games... Read: it makes more sense for other media. For some reason, games need inflated scores to make people feel better about buying them.
Remember to learn to kick people into the air early on. It took me forever to learn that if I can launch them into the air first, it makes it so much easier to take 'em down.
I think I finally heard a SABLE agent say something like "Don't let him get you in the air" and I was like "Ooooooh. Gotta learn air launches. Gotcha." Since learning them, launching dudes in the air and wailing on them is so much fun!
Finished up VC4 and I'll be starting FOTNS Paradise Lost tomorrow.
I am glad the last mission is actually hilariously easy since you have to do it twice for the true ending. After I spent a lot of time on it and failed the first time around I changed what I was doing and beat it in a couple turns. The key is pretty much
the fact that you have to damage it with grenadiers, I didn't realize this at first and I was not at all suited to take it out. Beating the tank is quite literally all you have to do, I was thinking I'd still have to get Riley to the submarine, but you don't have to. Once you know where the enemy tank will be on the 2nd turn you know where to set up Riley and block off the tank's los with Cactus so she can't get killed. Then the entire 2nd turn is just piling up overpowered orders on her and taking out all 4 radiators with just two shots. Literally impossible to miss.
Mikami created RE and did 1-4 and Code Veronica (including the first Resident Evil Remake). We probably would have gotten a way better 5 and 6 if he was still around but he said he would cut his own head off if RE4 was on any console but Gamecube. Capcom the kings of ports put RE4 on PS2 he left and the rest was history. Then he went on to do Vanquish, Shadow of the Damned and The Evil Within 1 and 2.
I played the RE2 demo. Amazing. Truly a great remake and reimagining. The camera screamed RE4 but the atmosphere is purely old school RE1-3. It was a mere taste though. Over in the blink of an eye. Cant wait to play the full game.

Yeah man, those 30 mins went by so fast. It was definitely that blend of classic RE with a bit of RE4 and even a bit of RE7 as well. It was everything I wanted and more. The 25th can't come soon enough!
Maybe it's just me, but I never got into the KH series. It's one I tried starting a few times, but like FFX, it bores me and I lose interest. Even looking at the list of games they released on PS2, other than DQ8, I can't say I even see any great games. (Well, okay, I see another if I include their late PS2 publishings in the EU market only.)
I thought the same thing until I actually played Kingdom Hearts 1 and realized it was a great JRPG regardless to what characters were included. I personally just found the Disney aspect a breath of fresh air - the sort of crossover that wasn't being done a lot at the time. Of course I've never been one to hate Disney just for being Disney, so I dunno how much that factored in for other folks.
Never beat it though, or played any of the following games. Still on my ever-growing "to beat" list, so maybe someday now that I'm back in the Playstation camp.
I always had a super soft spot for Kingdom Hearts. It fused together 2 very important entities from my childhood. Disney and Final Fantasy characters alike. Sure the dialog is cheesy on the Disney side and stiff on the FF side. Sure the story is more complex than Chinese algebra. Sure it takes forever for the games to come out, but when you're playing and invested into the core game, it's as smooth as butter and engaging to boot. I speak solely for KH1 and KH2. None of those other spin off nonsense games really matter to me.
I'm not sure w/e is an appropriate grade on that game... I thought it was pretty pukey. I didn't say as much when I let it go free again, mind you. Old musous age terribly. Everything I've played since Hyrule Warriors has been alright.
> I knew I wouldn't be the only one to love it on this forum.
Yeah I was 99% gonna love it. Had to wrap up VC4 before starting as I really dislike trying to play two larger games at once. That usually never works for me and I end up not going back to the first game.
> ya FOTNS is pretty good, imagine If they do another one with the dragon engine that
> would be sick. ive seen the movie but never the series but want to watch it now.
That is really my only complaint with this game. I wish it would have been in the Y6 engine. A little bit lame going back to save points and such. Just a small issue though and I am really enjoying the game overall. I do like that the game is a bit shorter.
Also, playing "baseball" with a steel beam and hitting bikers is hilarious.
Jason Schreier just broke some news. EA has canceled the open-world Star Wars game that EA Vancouver was working on. It's the one that Amy Hennig was making at Visceral Games before EA came along, killed the studio, and moved the project over to EA Vancouver. This is just ridiculous. Disney just needs to rip up the contract they signed with EA and give the property to someone who can actually do something with it.
I've always thought EA was clueless, but this gen they've taken it to a whole new level of stupidity. I don't think I've bought one EA game this gen nor do I have any plans to. They went full 'tard with online only games, while games like God of War, Spider-man and many others prove you can still have a single player only story and sell a ton of games, but there's a deep hidden secret to it, the games have to be
The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III coming to the PS4 this fall. I got really excited until I saw the localization is being done by NISA and not Xseed. So I'm hyped and worried at the same time. It's a very strange feeling...
im gonna play in Japanese anyway, hopefully they can at least get the subtitles and other localizations right but still, my confidence in nisa is just 0 right now, and I used to love them. hopefully they realize they need to take their time and get this right, they already service a niche market, if fans jump ship they will be in trouble, I reminded them of that too lol.

I assumed most of us were. I wouldn't count on the subtitles and other game text being well done. They have had poor text translations all the way back to the PS2 era when they got started. Dig deep enough into any of their games and you will find a fair bit of bad English. Ar Tonelico 2 and Mana Khemia 2 both had bonus dungeon game breaking bugs. AT2 was patched by freaking FANS and MK2 can be worked around but still...just shoddy work.
ya.. its a shame xseed couldn't work more with falcom to get all their games, falcom rocks so much and xseed does a much better job of things. nisa must have really went in there willing to undercut the pricing. like you said if it was only up to them im sure they would love to do all falcom stuff especially this series but now we just have to hope its not completely terrible.
the Jump Force open beta is up, has anyone checked it out? I was super underwhelmed by Jstars+ victory vs or whatever it was hoping this is going to have a little more to it, I love a lot of these characters.
Kakashi, Boruto, Gaara and Kaguya just got announced as well.
and ACE COMBAT 7 is tomorrow...so ready. I haven't watched the last couple of trailers or anything I want to be blown away by the opening when I play! Namco always has sick openings for these games.
yes I had posted in the rpg thread how my day was ruined yesterday knowing NISA had gotten this game.. but knowing key members of the team Xseed had working the game are working it I don't feel nearly as apprehensive. I also saw another article today that said they aren't rushing it, so maybe they learned something from Ys 8, a game company learning something would be something to see these days.
Ac7 is very much a a real ace combat.. I'm 8 missions in and it is different in some ways .planes and weapons and upgrades are unlocked along a skill tree not just bought and sold, so once you unlock something you have it you don't sell it to buy the next one. I don't know it's gonna best 4 and 5 but so far I'm enjoying it..maybe I'm just super sleepy but it seems like it hits a point of real difficulty spike but I'm also about to fall over. lol.

Ya it's not super hard. I'm just playing the story on normal and getting used to the new intracicies before playing on ace. I've beaten them all on ace and will this one too I'm sure. The drones are more challenging than most previous opponents..sometimes just fighting a swarm of the high end drones is like fighting Yellow sauadron..well almost.. yellow 13 was no fool. It feels as fast as any of them I guess? The story is ace combat fair. The political intrigue between the nation's and it references back to 4/5/0 and some. Seems like maybe some corruption in the Osean govt, osea saying Eurasia is evil and vice versa, civilian targets accidently hit and Eurasia claming it's intentional and osea claiming they're being set up.. so typical AC stuff. It def borrows ideas for enemy super weapons from previous gamss too but that's part of the series to do that.

Cool. I just played it for about 15-20 minutes in VR and it's incredible! The head tracking is on point and the sense of speed...hold mother of God! I felt pretty sick the entire time, though but I kept going until I couldn't go anymore. Also, doing a barrel roll is such a trippy feeling, but I got used to it after a couple of minutes. I wish I could play the regular game in VR, but I really don't think I'd be able to handle it.
Heartbreak... Retrying the last segment of the last mission...getting tired..finger slips and I hit quit mission.. it's in three parts and I just can't do it again. Maybe tomorrow. But thinking I was doing something wrong failing it I looked it up, so now I know what happens..and I kinda don't want to now. It's alright..but for me at least its not 4/5/0/6. It's prettier for sure..and handles fine I guess. Maybe I hyped it too much..maybe I'm just exhausted.
Played a lot more FOTNS last night. Did all the bartending and bounties up to the point where it puts stuff in the wasteland so I have to wait for morning as it won't let you drive out at night. The Colosseum opened up as well. As @tonymack21 informed me, the hostess mini-game is oddly stripped down here. The substories really started flowing in chapter 6 as well. Maybe I just missed a fair chunk of them previously. I'm making sure to walk around the city and look for triggers, since it isn't that big. I have a ton of new parts for the car now, but I can't mess with that until morning for that either.
This was a power buy at $20, but it's back up to $45 on Amazon now.
I got 2 chapters left to go in FOTNS:LP and yeah I think the sub stories and minigames are a bit watered down in this game so the story is more streamlined and showcased. I loved doing the bounties though. Also the wasteland traversing could have been deeper but that's fine the game is still awesome nevertheless. The bartending minigame is fun as heck too and hilarious to boot.
I also found about that point in the game the substories really open up..and and at points through the hostess game if you go in the nightclub you'll get substories with the hostesses like in Yakuza, not talking to her outside you have to go in. More hostesses will also pop up around town you can get and one does at highland village. They always want you to trade them something in exchange, most of it is easy to get either in the bazaar or the coliseum. Some are A rank and better than you'll get just through girls joining from playing through the mini game levels. I almost wonder if this game has been in production for awhile as the use of the old engine may suggest and perhaps this cabaret game is the early concept and 0 and k2 are the more refind ones? But that doesn't make sense as K1 doesn't use it.
I thought they kinda made the wasteland exploration minimal, which was ok.. it's almost all optional except for a couple story things. And strangely even though by the time I needed to do it I could put better parts on that would do what I needed to do...whether it was a rock breaking bumper or all terrain tires the game wouldn't recognize them, and I had to go back and pit the base pieces on that the story gave me.
Ace combat 7. So I was exhausted last night I guess. Beat that last mission just now, way easier. There's a trick to it I won't spoil.
Just checked out the trophy list.. def not doing all that lol
Overall it's pretty awesome. It said I didn't get a couple of trophies for things I thought for sure I did..not sure yet if this has branching paths depending on some choices but there aren't choices to make unless I didn't notice them.
There are a couple of missions that are a little frustrating, and I didn't recall having to retry as many missions in the older one as I did here, but that's not so much a knock on the game..there are just a couple of missions where you have to rack up a certain number of points and you have to be very calculated where you're spending your time. Several times on one mission like that I'd get down to needing just one or two more targets and time would run out.
I play with the old style (expert) controls and a couple of times it seems like a part of a mission would be designed for the standard, so I didn't care or that. Overall project aces did a pretty nice job. You cant hope to unlock all stuff in one go but that's not new iirc it takes a couple plays to afford everything. I was able to get the f15, su35 and 37 in this play. Couldn't afford the f22, yf23, su47 or Su57 they are expensive.
I still think I like 4/5/0/6 better.. but will see after more time and reflection. Maybe as good as 6.. but no wingman commands..they don't cover you and it seems like they skipped on things to put in multiplayer and vr .. I'm not against those things but when it costs key things to campaign it's kinda eh. There are times when it's like hey trigger do this..only you can.. oh and we will fly around and watch while 20 enemies shoot at you...but you got this!
There hasnt been one in about that long? 6 was forever ago and assault horizon is gross. This one pretty good though. It's at least as good as 6 of I really got down to it probably but that 4/5/0 trilogy is just the best
This one is odd..no wingman commands..they don't help cover you or destroy things.. it's weird.. it's like they scaled back on things to make room for multiplayer and vr and that held it back.
@tonymack21 Damn, you tore through that fast! No wingman commands is a bit of a bummer, but everything else sounds pretty great. I'm gonna finish up the VR stuff today and then jump into the main game.
> @tonymack21 Damn, you tore through that fast! No wingman commands is a bit of a bummer,

Ya I played for a while Friday night then about 10 hours yesterday probably. Well under 20 I'd say. And I still felt like it took me longer than usual ac game..but maybe ive just played the others so many times.
My ps4 now keep saying unrecognized disc when i try to start up the game i was just playing it fine for couple weeks even last night I did rebuild database and still said same Is it my laser going bad now?
It was uncharted remastered ps4 bundle so yes original I tried blowing in disc slot and it seems to be working after researching online I think its probably disc drive either replace that or upgrade to slim or pro
Damn that's a tough gig. Could try sending it back to Sony by means of tech support. I'm not sure how much they would charge though. Might make sense to just go out and buy a new console if the repairs will be high from Sony.
