So in September 2017, I drunkenly left my luggage along with my 3DS and childhood Pokemon games in Berlin.

December 23, 2018 I picked up my luggage in Brussels. I've been playing games that were in my backlog during my college days, Pokemon Sun, Kid Icarus, Luigi's Mansion 2 and Fantasy Life. I live in France now so I am going to go through the backlog before I leave in May.

I can't believe I missed out on so many good games!!

I just started Tales of Vesperia this past Friday and the battles are much slower than I remember them being. I'm around level 25 now and they're starting to speed up a bit but small things like not being able to move for a while after a base attack and being able to be stunned while performing an attack is a little bit irritating and slows the pace of the battle some. Also don't like how you can't really attack anyone whos laying on the ground or when they're getting up, especially seeing as how that means that they're invincible for about 5 seconds while you just kind of have to stand there waiting.

Started up Pokemon Let's Go Eevee today and I kinda am loving it dearly. I love that they cut out the nonsense grinding in wild Pokemon encounters had in previous titles and when trainer battles do happen it feels a bit more special and rewarding. It makes leveling up go oh so much quicker. The music too is taking me right back to 1998.

This game is surely getting a Member Berries/10 for me so far. yes

Played a lot of small bits of games recently:

Majora's Mask 3DS. Seems like a re skinned OoT which is probably the case. not liking the timed aspect. may not go back.

Dead Cells - PS4. this is short burst fun. Grindy. Might get old quick.

Nioh - PS4. Not sure if I really like this or not. Love Dark Souls but something about this seems, meh.

Alienation - PS4. Short burst fun, not long from what I understand. managed to get a physical copy.

Panzer Dragoon Orta Microsoft Xbox via Microsoft Xbox One BC- 8/10 so far. Simple yet effective rail shooter with cool tunes and a fun pick up and play experience. Kinda mad that it took me 15 years to get to this but better late than never I guess! I hope Sega revamps this series. The graphics too on the 1x are really well done. They gave this game as much polish as they could and bless them for it.

The guy who did the Panzer Dragoon games left Sega and joined (or created/co-founded) Grounding Inc, which made Crimson Dragon for the Xbox One and he considers it the spiritual successor to Panzer Dragoon. I got the game at launch and really enjoyed it. He said that is the game sold well enough that he would love to do an RPG version of the game, much like Panzer Dragoon Saga.....so we'll just have to see what comes of that.

Don't even get me started with Skies of Arcadia, lol.

How much of Nioh did you play so far? I wasn't sure if I liked it at first either, but after the first few levels I really got into a groove with it and really enjoyed it. I eventually put it on hold though to play something else (I don't remember what exactly) and still have yet to go back to it, but I know I will eventually because I really did enjoy it a lot.

I remember getting the season price at a really good price during a sale. $10 or $15 maybe. I played the hell out of that game. Well over 100 hours once you include all the DLC. The gameplay is special once you really come to grips with it. It's easily one of my favorite gameplay experiences of this entire generation.

You can unlock of bunch of stuff in that game like little side story missions where you play as other characters (like playing as a grunt enemy being put through training learning the fly your little machine they fight you with), a bunch of different alternate dragons you can ride, different riders, etc... Quite a lot of content to unlock.

Oh yeah, theres much more to the game and the intricacies really come out when played on hard mode. Multiple paths to take in the game as well which show off some really cool parts of different stages. At first glance it looks kind of like an on rails score attack game but theres quite a bit to it for people who want to really dig through the game.

Xenodrifter Nintendo Switch .99/10 - I bought this game from the eshop recently on sale for .99. This game reminds me of Axiom Verge (like a dumbed down version) with a mutant mudd flare. To be fair I have never played mutant mudd but it uses the background/foreground mechanic. Early on you are underpowered and cheap deaths can be frustrating but as you power up you can easily make your way through each level untouched for the most part.

The game has some charm the story is non existent so far. I think im about 4/5 hours in, its enjoyable for sure if your looking for a bite sized game with familiar metroidvania type game play. The boss encounters are redundant though. They use the same boss (so far) over and over, they only mix up the attack patterns.

Cosmic Star Heroine Nintendo Switch too soon to tell/10 - I think I played 30 minutes so far. The game looks great following the oh so popular retro vibe, with a sci-fi twist. Familiar turn based action. Save on the fly which is great. Combat mechanics require you to "recharge" your combat abilities which imo forces you to waste an attack opportunity. We'll see how that pans out.

Pokemon: Let's Go, Pikachu! - 9/10

I had been wanting to re-play Pokemon Red/Blue for a long time, but I'm glad I held out and got to play this version instead. They did a great job of staying true to the original while fixing most of the issues/annoyances of the originals. It felt more challenging than the original. Trainers are actually smart and pick the best move to use a lot of the time, instead of just randomly firing off moves like they seemed to in the original. I really like that you can see the Pokemon pop up on the map now, and I much prefer the new catch method. Catching in the originals was such a chore, trying to weaken them without accidentally knocking them out, hoping they don't run before you do so. It was just time consuming and not fun. One thing I think they got wrong though is XP. You get SO much more XP from catches than you do from trainer battles, especially when you start chain-comboing, it's crazy. The game gets pretty grindy if you're like me and like to go after high-IV pokemon. You have to catch 30 of the same pokemon in a row to start being guaranteed to get ones with really high IVs. If one runs on you, you catch a different pokemon, or you turn the game completely off, your combo resets. I didn't realize until almost at the end of the game that the pokemon have a "tell" that they're about to run, wish I had learned that sooner. My only other complaint about the game is that it's ridiculously time-consuming, in annoying ways. For example, every time you get an item, it tells you what item it is, there's a short pause, you press A, then it tells you that you put it in your bag, there's a short pause again, then you have to click A again. EVERY TIME. It's not that bad at first, but over the course of the game it really adds up. Also, every time you catch a Pokemon, it tells you that you caught it, then you see how much xp and what items you got, then your pokemon get their xp and level up, then it shows the pokemon you caught along with some pointless stats, then makes a point to tell you that the pokemon went to your pokemon box, EVERY TIME. And a lot of these things you can't just quickly click through, they like intentionally made it to where you have wait a few seconds before you can click past a lot of the common text in this game. I know I'm ranting here, but one of my biggest pet peeves in video games is unnecessary time wasters, and this game is horrible about them. The game would easily be a 10/10 for me if not for this kind of stuff.

I agree. I am actively playing Pokemon Let's Go Eevee now and I am up to my 3rd badge and haven't had this much fun in a Pokemon game since probably Gold/Silver. The new catching system cuts out all that grind of having to weaken Pokemon and do the same song and dance all over again. I prefer this new catching system much more. I also love how they pretty much dissolved HM's and are now secret techniques that do not take up a slot in a Pokemon's move set. That was a really good move too I thought.

Yeah, I should have mentioned more of the positives like that, guess I kinda got carried away with my pet peeve lol TMs being unlimited, and not having to waste move slots on HM abilities (as well as needing to have THAT particular pokemon in your party) were such welcomed changes. I also love that you can access your pokemon box at any time, instead of just at Pokecenters.

There are also some other changes I was really happy about. In the original, outside of the "version exclusive" pokemon, there were some pokemon that you just couldn't get all of. For example, Omanyte/Kabuto, Hitmonlee/Hitmonchan. But they did away with that and made it possible to get the one you didn't pick later in the game.

I'm pretty much finished with the game now. I've been working on some post-game stuff but it gets REALLY grindy and I'm getting burnt out fast.

Resident Evil 2 Remake Leon A 9.5/10

Great remake of arguably the best (maybe second to SH2) survival horror game of all time. What's not to love? My only tiny issue came with the bosses feeling a bit underwhelming compared to the original for some reason, but I only played a small part of what the game has to offer.

Ya once Pokemon turns into a grind I usually set my sights to greener pastures. I was never one for catching them all. I tried once in the original Red back in '98 to catch them all and level all of them to 100 and it got way too time consuming and repetitive. I like to now stick to the ones I like such as the 3 original starters and the legendary Pokemon like Mewtwo and the 3 birds. Zapdos especially. I'll dabble in leveling them up a bit but I don't look to getting them all to level 100 and/or battle people online. I'm all about the journey man, not the destination.

I remember playing Pokémon Blue back in the day and being hell bent on leveling up my Mew Two up to level 100 and I think I quit somewhere around 60 because it got way too grindy. Loved the game though. I didn't know anything about Pokémon at all up to that point and I got really into it for a few year, knew all 151 and their evolutions and such. I'll probably pick up Lets Go once theres a gap in game releases this year since it sounds like this is more of a return the first few games in the series.

Yeah, Let's Go is a love letter to R/B/Y from the 90's for certain. It's the best Pokemon game I've played in years. I was skeptical of it at first because I thought there were no battle systems and it was a port of the mobile Go nonsense game but when I found out there was a battle system and it was pretty much a remake of Yellow, I was completely on board.

Resident Evil 2 Remake Steam - 10/10 (I don't care, come at me). For me, this is everything I've wanted from a Resident Evil game for a long time. I do wish some boss fights had more elements to it but almost every RE game I've played never had what I would call fantastic bosses, so I can't dock the score for that. I've only beaten Leon A so far and am already looking to continue. Been in a gaming lull for a while and this was just the spark I hoped it would be. Took me around 8-9 hours for Leon's first and I greatly enjoyed it, even when I was having issues. If you are a Resident Evil fan, you pretty much owe it to yourself to play this game.

In the originals, I did manage to get all 151, but it took forever. The most time-consuming aspect was getting the version exclusives, and the ones you can only choose one of (Hitmonlee/Hitmonchan, Omanyte/Kabuto, and all 3 Eevee evolutions since you only get 1 Eevee). I had a copy of Red and Blue so I had to do multiple playthroughs on my extra copy just to trade the exclusives/singletons over using mine and my brother's Game Boys.

Completing the Pokedex in Let's Go really wasn't that bad, since they fixed the stuff I mentioned above, plus catching is so much easier now. By the time I beat the Elite 4, I had like 120/150, and it didn't take long at all to pick up the rest. As opposed to the original, there's actually a reason to go for a complete Pokedex in this one. There's a certain post-game thing (which I won't spoil) that requires it, but is pretty cool.

A year or so after Red/Blue released, Nintendo held some kind of tournament tour at various malls across the country. Even though I had unlimited rare candy thanks to the Missingno trick, I was determined to level my team up to level 100 the hard way because there was some weird thing where your pokemon wouldn't gain as many points in their stats if you just used rare candies instead of actually leveling them up in battle. Well, I severely underestimated how long that was going to take. I must have fought the Elite 4 a hundred times and my pokemon were still only in like the low 80s by the time the tour came to my location. I actually remember staying up really late the night before trying to squeeze in as many more battles as I could, and then the next morning using rare candies in the car on the way to the event to top them off to level 100. That event is where I got my legit Mew from a Nintendo employee, good memories.

Unfortunately, the only way to get him is from the PokeBall Plus accessory. When you connect it to your game, you get it. Only works for 1 account, you can't just borrow somebody else's PBP to grab a Mew off of it.

Resident Evil 2 Remake (PC) - 10/10. I'm currently on my first playthrough as Claire, having made it to the lab with Sherry in tow. Resident Evil 2 was always one of my favorites in the series and the remake is just phenomenal. I well and truly hope we'll see remakes of similar caliber of the other games in the series, along with some that we never thought would get a second chance (like Survivor, Dead Aim, and the Outbreak games)

Shut Eye {Nintendo Switch} 4/10
This is just a Five Nights At Freddy's clone. You play as a little girl who is stuck in her room away from her parents for a week (that's just what I read in the game's eShop listing, the game itself does nothing to fill you in on any sort of story).
It's a dark room and as you sit on your bed you have to check to the left to view the clock and see how much longer you have to survive, look to the right to turn on the outside light, and you're on a bunk bed and you gotta occasionally check the top bunk and underneath the bed for spare batteries to keep your flashlight and music box powered. The flashlight is used to keep your anxiety down and the music box is used to scare away the "monsters" when they start to approach your bed.

In my first time playing the game I was able to reach day six in just a single attempt and it took barely a half hour to do. That's when the first jump scare occurred and it didn't even scare me. It might've if I was wearing headphones, but still, these types of games are a one trick pony and the jump scares are all they've got, so it's important to get them right. I haven't been able to make any progress since then and seeing the same old lame jump scares over and over has worn them out.

Also, I checked out a video on YouTube of the Steam version of Shut Eye and it makes the Switch version look so dumbed down in comparison. If they didn't share the same name I would have thought they were different games.

I'll keep it short and sweet: Capcom nailed it. I'm impressed.
I've only beaten Leon's campaign so far but during that playthrough I have no real complaints about the game besides in some areas it was just too dark to see without messing with the brightness settings. This is definitely going to be a GotY contender.

edit: After beating Claire's half of the story I'm bumping RE2's score to a 10. As good as Leon's campaign was, Claire's is more intense.

So I finally finished Uncharted (ps4) over the weekend. Got 47/60 treasures first time thru
Decided to move on immediately to Uncharted 2.
So far so good. Is it me or is the difficulty ramped up compared to the first? It feels like it's harder to find treasure (I'm missing a lot already), puzzles (or even just what to do next) are ever so slightly more unclear, and the combat is a bit more challenging, especially the stealth parts.
Has this been anyone else's experience?
I dig it, dont get me wrong

I know I'm really late to the party but I finally popped in Metal Gear Solid V (X1X) after it gathered dust on my shelf for at least a year.

I thought there was too much story to start the game...you always need to get the player into the game quick IMO. Just moving the camera doesn't count. However, once it played out I was surprisingly interested in the entire prologue. Weird as crap but besides being a little slow at first, I dug it.

Then you start a mission and it feels like a completely different game. I haven't gotten too far yet but I'm excited to keep going. I've never been a fan of the MGS stories, but I do like the gameplay and level of polish they have.

You are not alone, I still havent beaten Phantom Pain. I did go back to it a couple of months ago and I think I have about 50 hours put in so far. I really like it, but the side missions are boring af.

MGSV was addictive AF for me. Those side ops were like crack. And if ya stick around long enough with it and do most of the side ops and story missions you get a really cool final boss battle and ending sequence.

About 3 hours into Kingdom Hearts III and yeah. I may have to take off work on Monday because this game is becoming my everything. 9/10 so far. I'm basing my score off the fun factor of the gameplay and charm and not the convoluted story. Shutting the brain off and going back to member berry/nostalgia land is the absolute best way to play this game. The action is so damn fluid and robust. Some insane over the top special technical moves I can't even begin to explain. They must be seen to be believed. And I'm playing on a PS4 Pro and I swear the framerate is almost damn near locked at 60fps for the most part. And the graphics are amazing. Unreal 4 engine really makes it all feel like a super alpha Pixar movie.

I still need to get around to KH3. I got Tales of Vesperia, RE2, and KH3 on consecutive Friday's 3 weeks in a row but have been stuck on ToV for almost a month now with around 34 hours in. Next is probably RE2, then probably KH3. Oh, and Crackdown 3 comes out in like 6 days. Just too many games to play right now.

Save me Mr Tako: Tasukete Tako-San {Nintendo Switch} 6/10
With the overabundance of 2D platformers that look like they belong on the NES that are all over the eShop, this game stood out...by looking like it belongs on the Game Boy instead. It looks, sounds and feels like a Game Boy game. You can change the color palette and borders as if you were playing on a Super Game Boy.

You play as an octopus named Mr. Tako. You saved a woman from drowning, even though the humans and octopi are in the midst of a war. A fairy witnessed you save that human and you are then granted the ability to walk on land and you begin your quest to put an end to the war. As for how the game plays, the creator calls it "kirbyvania" and I feel it fits that description.

There are 50 different hats that you can acquire throughout the game and each one grants you a unique ability (that's where the similarities to Kirby come in). There are 6 worlds to go through, solving puzzles, talking to NPCs, playing mini-games and doing side quests along the way (to be honest I haven't liked most of the mini-games and I don't care about doing side quests because it was too difficult to remember who asked for what, and how to find that person again when you've done what they asked).

If "kirbyvania" sounds like something you'd enjoy, I'd recommend giving this a shot, but for me personally I was enjoying it enough that I was intending to complete it until I reached a boss fight a little over 20 levels into the game and the difficulty just felt like it spiked up out of nowhere. That put a damper on things and I've still not beaten him weeks later.

Assassins Creed Rogue Remastered PS4

im a few hours in and at first I was like eh.. but its starting to get more interesting. this is the first time playing it for me I didn't play it on ps3 at the generations end like maybe a lot of people didn't, which is a shame because its good and offers the most different viewpoint of the series of any of them ive played, which is only up to this one, ive played them in release order and one of my playing goals for the year is to get heavily caught up on this series, if not all the way to odyssey Im hoping to get at least up to the end of syndicate around all the other games I want to play this year.

it starts to really get interesting after Shay leaves the group, so if you're playing it for the first time like I am resist the urge to go explore as you'll unlock some fast travel spots and get some ship upgrades and whatnot, as I now see I burnt a lot of time.
its interesting to see that there are members of the Templar and assassins order who question things, which of course we have seen many times, but this time you aren't just seeing it you ARE it.. and seeing how the events change Shay and put him (you) on the other side of this age old conflict is interesting at least if youre interested in the lore of the series. its very fashionable to hate on AC, and I get it, its ubisoft and its samey and this and that, and I get it, but still I like the lore and the history, and playing on the opposite side is interesting and is a different take on the all Templars are evil, shay doesn't seem evil, he thinks hes doing the right thing, as does Col. Munro, who also doesn't seem evil. to the Templars the assassins are the ones on the wrong side of things, causing trouble and disrupting order, in most conflicts both sides tend to think they're right though. I find it odd they paint assassin bases as "gang hideouts" though, and some of the same things you did in the other games, like saving citizens or saving native tribes, you're saving them from assassins, which doesn't make sense, and assassins are shaking people down like the mafia, which isn't something they would do.. so im interested to see where they are going with this.

if you've played all the other assassins creed games you already know how the assassins will attack you, so luring them from their haystacks or seeing them in the bushes, or seeing three people on a bench.. youre like.. haha I know that trick, but its still different to be on the flip side of it.

I hope Anthem performs below expectations (which to EA is still managing to somehow sell 10's of millions of copies still for some dumbass reason not appease the shareholders) so that it initiates order 66 on Bioware, shuts them down and they are bought and renamed under Microsoft's wing, because someone needs to treat those people right and let them make the games we deserve, not what slimy filthy money hungry organizations think we need to only boost their profits and pacify shareholders who make more money than all of us combined in 1 year that we won't ever see for 2 lifetimes.

Nobody sells off IP like that. Especially not IP that's as valuable as the ones Bioware has created. In the way that no one can come in and buy the Dead Space IP from EA, no one will be able to buy Mass Effect, Dragon Age etc. Those properties are going to die if BioWare dies. It's just the sad state of things at EA at the moment. Games they can monitize are pretty much all they care about at the moment, but my hope is that if Anthem does well, maybe Bioware will have more leverage and be able to call a few more shots. That's like the only hope right now.

Making money is fine. I just simply hate the fools who don't know how to run corporations and only care about money and not the consumers desires. I mean, it's not like we're the ones responsible for their successes, right? We don't play the final products at all. It's just some kind of magical spectres and ghoulish ghosts that make the infinite amounts of capital that fund those shareholders 15 luxury sports cars, 7 yachts in each port of every continent and 5 G-5 turbo jet airliners for private visits to their own set of dozens of private owned islands to sip their hundred thousand dollar champagne and get angry at the man when the latest Battlefield sells only 7.5 million copies instead of 12 million. if bioware is only going to be what it has become currently under EA and they die im ok with that too, at least the memory of real bioware can rest in peace, and not disgraced by EA. id like to see it fail and MS swoop in and buy it, if it tanks hard enough it will be worth less and MS is more likely to see it as something viable, there is no chance EA will ever let them make anything that isn't a monetization machine, its all EA does now. MS can afford it no matter the price, MS has so much money its unfathomable. they could buy sony, Nintendo, EA, activision, ubisoft..they have more than all of them combined it would be nothing to them. Gates alone is worth a crap ton more than sony and Nintendo combined. MS has virtually infinite money. the problem will be MS's return on investment analytics they may see buying bioware as taking too long to recoup, but id bet spencer would really really really want to do it. but like was mentioned they may just shutter it and say whatever, wouldn't be the first or last time they've done that. we're never going to get another real mass effect, jade empire or dragon age game anyway under EA.

Yeah, but MS is so freaking cheap though. Like I said before though, when we do large jobs for them (we're talking like $125m lab remodels), they'll legit audit us on how much we charged them for paper and will also make us justify every hour we billed them for the job. Its nuts.

The amount of money they have is insane though, right now its:

MS: $829b
Sony: $58b
Activision: $34b
EA: $32b
Nintendo: $32b
Ubisoft: $7b
Square Enix: $3b

Essentually, MS is worth 5x more than Sony, Activision, EA, Nintendo, Ubisoft, and Square Enix combined.

Far Cry: New Dawn wouldn't recommend/didn't finish

It seemed ok at first, but the more I went through, the more I realized it is just a crapty version of FC5 (which was already not exactly the best FC game). The game is a bit buggy, but I could live with that since updates will likely fix it. My main issue is that I noticed the monetary aspect. Even in FC5, I never felt it was necessary to spend money. It never even occured to me. Over and over again, I noticed how much easier it would be to do certain things I should have already been able to do if I spent real money. It seems like it suffers from the same issues that I heard people complain about odyssey for.

The one good thing is at least it's not a full price game, and the amount of content seems decent for the price.

Good to know same old Ubi doesnt change. An old dog cant seem to learn new tricks. Ubi will eventually end up monetizing the air we breathe which is why I do not think I am going to purchase another title from Ubi, EA or Activision (with the exception of Spyro and CTR which I consider remasters and not new games) But ya I was done with FC after 5 and it's numerous tedious repetitious segments. Every region was a cookie cutter carving of the previous region. They only changed 1 or 2 things until the boss of that region so I got tired of if quickly. I figured New Dawn would follow the same pattern in a sense. Thanks for confirming that. yes

Well, I actually liked FC5. I thought 3, 4, and Primal were better, but I enjoyed it and had fun. I never even noticed a grindy/begging for money aspect. It was more like that than 4, but I still didn't really think about. This one had me thinking about it constantly.

Also, guys, I just watched a YouTube video on this. It's definitely worse than I thought. It's really more like $20-25 DLC (good DLC but still DLC). Early on, the amount of content seemed good for $40, but I'm not sure that's the case.

$40 and they will make back the other $20 to bring it well over the price of a new game with the hope a lot of people will spend real money in the booster packs etc. Ubi has long since joined the ranks of the other wretched hive of scum and villainy in the AAA market space and I dont see them slowing down anytime soon so long as people keep buying their crap and spending real money on in game purchases.

Glad to know this info. I agree that 3, 4, and Primal were all better than 5. 5 I didn't hate enough to quit playing before the end, but I still didn't enjoy it very much. (Fudge that stupid arcade mode and put some more effort into programming the campaign.) This new one will definitely only be a rental for me.

Wario Land II {Game Boy Color} 6/10
Being played via 3DS Virtual Console.
I kinda have a love/hate thing with the Wario Land series. I like Wario the character, but with only a few exceptions the Wario Land games usually aren't very good, this one included. I wouldn't say they're bad games, but by Nintendo standards I expect better.

This is less of a 2D action/platformer like the first Wario Land and the Virtual Boy one (all the cool power-ups are gone in this one) and this is more of a puzzle/platformer.
I'm a little over halfway through the game and it has just been too easy so far. You get unlimited lives and you never will die, you just lose some coins when you take damage. The only challenge comes in if you care enough to try to track down all the secret exits and hidden treasures, and I sure don't. I still plan to beat the game and try out Wario Land 3 but I'm not looking for 100% completion like I do with Mario titles.

---
Tiny Hands Adventure {Nintendo Switch} 3/10
Obviously I didn't buy this with the expectation of it being on the level of Super Mario Galaxy or something, but geez...out of allllll the turds I've bought on the eShop, this is the worst. It's a mess. It feels like an early 3D platformer from like 1995 on the Sega Saturn and PlayStation. I'm calling it now: this is the modern day Bubsy 3D.

I don't want to believe that they are able to sleep at night knowing they are selling this for actual money in the glitch-filled state that it's in. I should have beaten the game weeks ago, but an annoying glitch prevented me from making any progress. The game itself is fairly easy, the challenge comes from how poorly the game was made (lots of glitches, confusing level design and poor hit detection).

It's published by "Forever Entertainment" who also published Hollow and Shut Eye, two other terrible eShop games I've purchased. This is the 3rd strike for them, I need to stop giving them money.

Octopath Traveler Nintendo Switch - 8/10 so far for me, rapidly approaching an 8.5, and may even reach a 9 by the end of the game if it keeps up this momentum. I'm only just finishing up chapter 1 for all 8 characters and I haven't had this much fun in a classic 2D JRPG since Crono Trigger. I just got my ass kicked by a polar bear and I loved every second of it. The boss fights are as tactical as they come, forcing you to engage your brain and implement various attack patterns in order to figure out boss weaknesses to take the reigns of each unique fight. I love the different job classes that range from clerics to alchemists to thieves. But I think I love the hunter class the most so far. Nothing quite satisfies like capturing a wounded beast and making it your biznatch for a while. Plus the golden axe is OP. H'aanit strikes swift and true!

It's one of the best games I've ever played. I already beat it on Honour mode (hardest difficulty with one save that gets deleted if your main character dies) and am already going back for another full playthrough to finish up a couple of trophies for the platinum. Once you get access to the level 45+ dungeons you can level your lower level characters real fast anyway. Along with bewildering grace giving up boosts you can catch anyone up fast for the post game.

I grinded until all my party was level 50-something and I would still get killed pretty easily becuase my equipment sucked. I used bewildering grace at least once per battle and I got a few exp x100 which boosts you like crazy.

Yeah, I found out that you don't want to fight anything too strong when grinding with BG though because it can totally eff your whole team up if you get a bad hand. I don't use it during boss fights either because it seems to always make me lose all items, heals the boss to 100% health, casts silence for like 4 turns, and positions my whole team, almost every time I use it.
Gypsy
GameTZ Gold Subscriber Quadruple Gold Good Trader Global Trader - willing to trade internationally

Agree with never using it against bosses. I never really bothered with it in main game for that matter as I never felt the need to grind. I'm fairly sure the only time I used it was in the Forest of Purgation.

I just wish there wasn't such a huge level gap between chapters 1 and 2. I'm still only on level 19 with 4 characters and the earliest level for chapter 2 is level 24. I'm just going to save up money and buy better gear then tackle the next chapter. I may just go back for the Carrion Caves to evenly finish leveling my characters before I continue the story because the Grandport grinding boost I looked up is quite treacherous with those Kingfishers one shotting your entire team in 2 turns. Unless I venture back to get the staff of knowledge, which I may do as well. Or try to randomly encounter those Caits which give a stupid amount of xp.
Gypsy

Trying to hit the caits isn't really that effective. I was fine sticking with a core of 4 characters and just rotating in the others when their quest popped up. I had to do major leveling for the post game but I think that was faster than keeping all 8 characters at the same level throughout.
TalonJedi87

Yeah they're random encounters those caits and it will take forever to find them, so I think I'm just going to try the Kingfisher power leveling after all since I just got the knowledge staff and platinum vest now. I just need to get Cyrus and Therion to level 20 then I can start power grinding until I'm level 30.

On YouTube, there's a video that says they tend to spawn more in areas where you encounter 5 enemies at once. One area said Whistling Cavern is a good place to farm caits since you run into 4 or 5 enemies at a time on average.

I really have no idea what im doing. Cleared the first easy peasy dungeon and now I just wander around. Actually I don't know if I want to play it any longer. I don't know if I can handle the load times. Every time you enter a house or cave or whatever there's like this (feels like) 2 minutes load up time. Whats it loading lol, they're like maybe 4 assets in each room. Thats a little harsh but if you have to walk in and out of the room you spend more time waiting for the game to load then you do playing. I may give it another shot.

ya I think we are hitting a point where that's going to be the case a lot of years. all three players putting out good product means most if not every year is gonna have some great stuff. all these studio acquisitions should start seeing MS catch up some in the games department. may not be til the next hardware but they should get there.

I talk a lot about wishing they'd buy bioware, but so many of the old staffers aren't there anyway, what I really wish they'd do is find all those people and let them have their own group.

This year looks to be Nintendo's year by a long shot, I just don't see enough 2019 games from any other console to come close to competing with them. I'm really looking forward to some X1 games like Gears 5, Ori 2, (possibly) Forza 8, Battletoads, and Cuphead DLC, but man, Nintendo is untouchable this year.

Yeah, that's the problem with Bioware, all their good guys left. Its like when MS bought Rare, all the good devs already left so they were left with Rare in name only and minus the talent that made them who they were. Why buy Bioware when they're not even Bioware anymore?

ya you'd have to want the name and the IP to buy them at this point.

ps4 will still have the best year for me personally im guessing, but not everyone cares about the jrpg stuff I like, but that's my #1 thing and isn't most peoples. between granblue fantasy if it lives up, the cold steel games and yakuza remasters, judgement and if ghosts of tsushima is a 2019 game it will beat the switch for me personally, but I know that wont be everyones opinion. fire emblem is the only switch game I can think of that im really excited about but its def way up there. all the other stuff from that direct either isn't for me or its multiplat that I already have.

I'm beginning to have a newfound love for JRPG's that sparked again with Octopath. I'm on chapter 2 now, levels 32-47 between the 8 characters and it has me like the bloody Matrix haha I'm really digging some of the character's stories too like Alfyn and Primrose. I want to see how they evolve each of their story arcs over time. I also think the banter option between chapters is cool too to have character's interact with one another. Brings the game to life a bit more.

Ya that's the one thing I wanted it to have more of, more talk about how the stories are more connected than they seem at first and more interaction and relationship between the characters, kind of like most rpgs, but they were going for something different here and that's cool too. its still a fantastic game. its like you're playing the side stuff as the main game and the actual main thing is something happening to the side.

if youre in the chapter 2's you can quickly make a loop and get all the secondary jobs, giving you all 8 skill sets in the party at once. Anamana has a great vid to do it very easily.

2015 was definitely amazing. I'll have to look at a list to see if I'm missing some games, but I remember it being a little top heavy for me when compared to 1998, 2007, 2011, 2017 and 2018. People sleep on how good 2018 was, but I think it'll get its due in time once people get around to playing those games. Those years were all completely stacked. My top 3 from 2015 (Life is Strange, The Witcher 3, and Bloodborne) are definitely three of my favorite games of all-time, though.

Yeah, I didn't even do that one (more than once). I platinumed the base game, but didn't care enough about the 100% to put myself through the frustration.

That's tough. Probably 2012 or 2014. It's all subjective, really. 2012 didn't have many big AAA games, but smaller games picked up the slack. 2014 gets a lot of hate, but only because I don't think many people owned a Wii U. If you add the Wii U stuff like Bayonetta 2, Smash, Shovel Knight, and MK8 to the list, it's actually a pretty great year.

I guess I should have mentioned MGSV. It's just that the game completely falls apart at the end and I'm still salty about it lol. Such an amazing game, though. It'd be ahead of Bloodborne and probably tied with The Witcher 3 on my GOTY list for that year if not for the way it ends. It's honestly that good.

My GOTY for 2014 personally is Infamous: Second Son or Bayonetta 2 or even Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor as an HM. 2012 was a pretty dry year for hits if I recall. Not much tickled my fancy that I can remember off-hand in 2012. Duke Nukem Forever, maybe? J/K lol...or am I?

Man, 2005 had DMC3, Shadow of the Colossus and RE4. Those are all games I would still pick up and burn through over a single weekend. F.E.A.R. and God of War introduced as well.

But eh we all have different tastes and if I am comparing it to other years around it maybe it's not as good. I was just thinking of some of the quality titles from that year.

Dragon Quest 8, Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, Spider-Man 2, Guitar Hero, Psychonauts, Jade Empire, the first Forza, Need for Speed Most Wanted, MVP Baseball 2005 and much more came out in 2005.

I used cyrus as apothecary, I find that putting cleric and sorcerer, black and white magic on the same character slows battles down.
I used primrose as a sorcerer and she was a screen clearer.
for the most part their path counterpart is a good choice for a second job. haanit with warrior, opens up swords to her, which is great for the skills though she still used the axes most of the time, but that attack all sword attack is great for breaking sometimes. therion as a merchant is great, the abilities compliment him well and opens up spears and bows to him. cyrus as apothecary still allowed him to cure status and heal, but also gives him an axe to help break when the enemy has no elemental weakness. Ophelia as a dancer worked well, I would put her in when I need cyrus in the party, and usually kept alfyn as a cleric. olberic was usually apothecary or cleric depending on the party make up, though if hannit isn't your main like she was for me and has to be there hunter makes sense for him since hes also a bruiser, I just always had a hunter in haanit.

with haanit as a main I was usually like this
haanit hunter warrior
therion thief merchant
primrose dancer sorcerer
alfyn apoth cleric

when I had to have someone for their paths I would adjust in different ways. though prim and alfyn and cyrus and ophilia stayed together most of the time because of the easy job swaps. tressa was the odd out, id have to get a little weird with her but usually subbed her for alf and made her an apoth and then took her right back out when her chapter was up, she just didn't fit into my party make up most of the time. but that party gave me all path actions in my party for towns without having to switch to duel or talk to people or steal. sometimes you need tressa to buy things, but its rare. it also kept therion for purple chests and his steal sp and he can redistribute sp to the mage. the accessories that stop silence I kept on alfyn and prim so he could cure the others and prim is so dependant on casting, so I kept the sp regen abilities and accessories on her too.

Metro: Exodus XB1X - 8/10 thus far and I'm about 2, maybe 3 chapters in. I already started to compile some video clips for my formal review on my YouTube channel so once I've finished the playthrough, expect a link to my video review for my final thoughts but as for now, it's a slow burn but a good burn at that. Any fan of the Metro series will find this entry to be quite a delight. Plus the graphics surprisingly support HDR and it looks better than I expected it to look to be honest.

One of the hardest games I've played in a long time. If I wasn't playing on the easy mode with unlimited lives and extra checkpoints, I would have given up a long time ago.
It's the type of platformer with sub-8 bit graphics and it was made for you to die again and again and again. If that sounds like your cup o' tea then this game is waiting for you in the eShop for $5

Visually speaking Metro is super pretty in 4k in terms of the environments and arsenal. Character models do look a bit stiff at times when up close and personal but other than that the 4k graphics are probably just as good for me as RE2, which I also played on the 1X, but the framerate I must give RE2 the trump card in that category. Metro Exodus is locked at 30fps since it's a semi open world. And speaking of, after spending a couple of hours with it I'm going to lower my score so far from an 8 to a 7. Metro does not fare well as an open world thats for sure. Its lonely, deserted and boring when you venture out off the beaten path. Kinda how Fallout 76 would be I imagine. But when ya stick to the objectives and main story it's fine. And without fast travel, traversing the map can become a chore at times. I recorded a bunch of clips to showcase what I mean in my video review when I finish up the game in a week or so.

Cities Skylines... played a few hours last night on pc, I don't know well it translates to consoles control wise but if you liked sim city you'll probably love this. I can see burning huge amounts of time with this. I think im growing my city too fast, cant keep up with the trash, that and traffic are my two biggest issues. the problem is once you get an area too built up its hard to upgrade the roads, to widen them you have to demolish whats built along their sides depending on how you've laid it out. starting with 4 lanes in an area you think will become built up or heavily used would have been better.

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifics (X1X) - 6/10 - Yes it's gorgeous, yes it's a fantastic story of mental issues. But it's barely a game. People complained about The Order 1886 being mostly graphics and story and little substance...this is no better and is mostly similar.

Absolutely stunning graphics, smooth gameplay, great combat, and interesting story.... From such a small dev team it's insanely good.

But Hellblade is 90% a jogging simulator and is 100% linear. I love everything expect that I always feel like I should be able to move on quicker and there is so little satisfaction when proceeding.

As a GamePass game it's fantastic, no doubt. Had I paid retail I'd be more disappointed than I would when I bought The Order. At least that felt more engaging...which says a lot.

100% agree. Graphics, audio, acting, voice work, mo-cap, all top notch......gameplay not so much. Puzzle solving wasn't very fun and the battles were really repetitive. If I paid more than $15 I would have been disappointed, seeing as how it was a gp game it was just an easy 1000 achievements. Can't wait to see what they do with a bigger budget.

Anthem (PC) - Bought an EA Premiere sub to check it out, Fifteen bucks is about right. Flying around feels okay, but early impressions are kinda bland, shooting isn't fun at all and the game doesn't feel the least bit rewarding. I like how if you end up hating the mech you choose even if you restart the game they make you stick with it AND re-level/play until you unlock the next one.

And that's not including inflation either. If you take that into consideration then those 16-BIT games were more like $100-120. NES games were $40 back in the mi-80's and after inflation you're looking at $100. The reason I think that the Hellblade isn't worth full price is because it was pretty short, had almost no gameplay, and had zero replay value.

This game really impressed me. It's by some Swedish indie devs I never heard of before, but I'm damn sure going to keep an eye on them now. It's published by EA, so I think some people might have skipped the game for that reason alone, but they're missing out. I think had this released on Switch I would have preferred to play it there, because these guys have done something that many other developers often try to do but fail at, and that's capture the "Nintendo Touch™". It's a 2D platformer that you use physics puzzles to get through the levels and I don't know exactly why, but this reminds me of a bastard child between Yoshi and Chibi-Robo.

The physics can be a bit wonky at times, so for that reason I took a point off the score, and sometimes the difficulty is inconsistent (you might struggle on one level but then breeze through the next couple) but other than that I have nothing else to complain about with this game. These dudes put their heart and soul into making this game and it shows and I'm glad I played it.

True, but I don't think many of us were old enough to have been expected to pay for our own games during the 16-bit era, so we never took price into consideration.

I don't remember 16-BIT game prices very much (other than when we got a "new" game it was from the bargain bin at KB Toys) and really didn't until the N64 in which my Brother and I had to save up our money for months to buy a new game. I didn't think much of it, but whenever we got a new game we played the hell out of it until we had 100% the game at least once which is probably where my impulse to 100% everything I play comes from.

Dude, def try Unravel 2...it's co-op and absolutely fantastic! My 5-yr old can play more of #2 and when it's too tough you can hop on the back of the other player so they can get past hard areas then you just jump off and continue together. It's def more fun than the first game (which we also both really loved...but he got stuck a ton) and it's one of our top 10 best game purchases ever. Everything is improved over the original game.

That game is nuts but it plays really well and is constantly engaging..."say what? what's the mission?" I think it's their best as they really grabbed the silliness by the horns.

Apex Legends (PS4 Pro) - 9.5/10

I'm not sure what they could do to make this a 10/10. I'm enjoying the HELL out of it...and for $0. I can't imagine a better value in gaming right now.

I suppose my only complaint, although it's nobody's "fault" is the unbalance between users. I mean, I'm level 29 and do "ok", considering how little I play online FPS's (I suck BAD at aiming) - but some people are level 95 with 1500 kills already. They literally must play nonstop day in and day out, whereas I have to eat and breath and live. I can't blame anyone really, but maybe they could add a way to group talent together a bit so I don't play one game for 20 minutes and get all the way to the last 2 groups - then the next game I'm in it for 10 seconds because somebody with 600 head shots mows me down as soon as I hit the ground.

Maybe have a lobby where you can pick a level to play at, and a different lobby where it's open to everyone? Not sure. Is this even a thing?

Still, my favorite game right now and I'm loving it.

Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn

The new ravel abilities add to the variety but make the game a whole lot easier than the Wii original. Even Devilish mode isn't terribly hard so far (especially if you have a ravel ability). I do like the new Dedede Gogogo minigame, though. Reminds me of Bit Trip Runner, but simpler (and shorter). Being portable is a plus, too.

No 2 player mode in this version though, which is kind of a bummer since the Wii version had 2 player co-op and was quite fun. Wii version can also be had for under $15, compared to $40 on 3DS

If I had to pick between the two, I'd probably say most people should go for the Wii version. You're not missing a whole lot of extra content compared to the 3DS version, and 2 player co-op is great!

If you're a loyal subject of King Dedede, though, he probably would want you to buy this version so you can play as him.

Okami (X1) 6/10.

The first 8 hours so far has felt like 1 never ending tutorial. Just when the game starts to feel like its taking the training wheels off they throw more and more tutorials your way. The game has a pretty cool art style and the gameplay is okay, but I think playing the game so long after its initial release takes a lot of the "wow" factor away that it had when it first launched on the GCN all those years ago. Its an above average game, but not one that I would put in the "great" category by any means.

It was PS2, but I think part of the wow factor was the fact that it came out here at all. Many people thought it was just too Japanese and US consumers wouldn't get it.

Hey Talon, so I'm through mission 8 now and I'm still loving it. Only issue I have is that the game is super easy. I really wish there was a higher difficulty level because I'm just crushing everything so far. Have you played as V yet? What do you think of his play style?

Yup, looks like it was a PS2 title and launched later on its life cycle too. I'm glad I finally got around to playing it, but its still really a slog. Capcom needs to get on that Power Stone HD release next.

Yeah but if you want to get gold on every stage you can't afford too many hits for the loss of beads. Brute forcing through it to see the ending is easy enough though.

Barney's Hide and Seek for Genesis has to take the prize for easiest though. If you can't figure it out, just put the controller down and it will win for you.

I barely made it through the game once, I just wasn't feeling the story too much and the gameplay was not very good. Incredibly impressive from a technical standpoint though and it really shined on the X1X. Seemed like one of those games where you either really enjoy it or you don't care for it too much.

I did buy that along with the first Unravel, they were on sale for $7.99 each. I do wanna play it in co-op with my friend, but I don't want to start it yet because we're in the middle of a couple other co-op games already. I do look forward to it though and I hope this is the next one we start.

Ms. Splosion Man {Nintendo Switch} 8/10
This game is a blast. I'm late to the party because I skipped this on Xbox 360 but I'm glad I saw it on sale in the eShop and didn't want to miss out again.

While the game is certainly fun in single player, I would recommend this more if you have friends to play with, either locally or online. I've been playing online with my friend and lag has not been an issue, so if indie devs can put online play in their co-op platformers I don't wanna hear any more excuses from Nintendo about why they won't do it with Mario.

It might not be as casual-gamer friendly as the New Super Mario Bros. series, because in those games if you play with a less skilled player you could pretty much just go and play through the game without ever interacting with them or using any kind of teamwork, but teamwork is definitely required in Ms. Splosion Man.

There are 100 levels in the game, 50 for single player and 50 completely different levels for multiplayer, so either way you play it you're getting a full game's worth of content. There's also "2 girls 1 controller" mode where you can play the multiplayer levels alone by controlling two characters at once.

I only have one main complaint with the game and that's how when the camera zooms out pretty far (especially in multiplayer mode) it becomes easy to lose track of your character because they look so small. It is not so bad when playing on the TV, but it sure sucks in handheld mode.

Yeah, I'm sure I'm in the minority on the Lost Legacy over 4 thing. But I'm in the minority on pretty much everything Uncharted related so i'm not really surprised. I love 4, but I'd give Lost Legacy the slight edge. I love how open things are for the first half of Lost Legacy and the freedom you have. It's slower paced which I'm sure people didn't like, but I really like that about it. Chloe and Nadine also have really good chemistry and I'm glad Claudia Black got a chance to voice Chloe again. I really hope it wasn't a one off...i'd love to see Chloe star in another game.

Left Alive already received a 60% price cut in Japan and it has been out for like a week. Yeah, not looking good for this one. I'm not even sure what the game is trying to be. It looks like a bit of a mess outside of the Metal Gear style art.

Red Faction {PlayStation 4} 7/10
I never played it when it originally released (I did play Red Faction II on GameCube but remember nothing about it), but playing it now, nearly 20 years later, it definitely feels like I'm playing a game from 20 years ago. It's a little hard to believe that almost 20 years ago the main selling point of this game was the destructible environments, because seeing it for the first time now, it's a bit limited. Speaking of destructible environments, I found it funny that I can use a rocket launcher to blow a hole through a wall, but I saw a little thing that looked like hand sanitizer on a desk and I tried to shoot it but it had no affect. It didn't even leave a visible bullet hole.

The AI of the NPCs is really dumb at times (and so are the things they shout when they see you have a gun pointed at them) and they'll end up getting themselves killed often. And there's apparently no checkpoints, so you'd better remember to save your game often because when you die that is where you will be restarting from (I found that out the hard way).
And a warning if you're a trophy hunter, beating the game on the hardest difficulty doesn't automatically unlock the trophies for beating it on the easier settings. If you want the platinum trophy you'll need to beat this 4 times. I do plan to finish this game (I think I'm halfway through now) but I definitely won't be doing it 3 more times.

The soundtrack is pretty good and the game itself isn't bad, once I reminded myself how old it is I could enjoy it more. The first thing I recommend you do though is get in the options menu and adjust the controls because the way they're setup by default just feels really sluggish.

I have it on Steam from a Humble Bundle from 2012 or 2013. I will get around to it at some point. I just checked now and I see it was upgraded to the Re-Mars-tered Edition for free, so that's pretty cool.

Unfortunately now I'm not sure if I'll beat the original Red Faction. Due to the lack of checkpoints and me being one of those suckers who doesn't use multiple save slots, I'm now in an area where I have only one gun and no more ammo for it and I have to enter a room full of enemies with no way to avoid them. I've spent the last half hour trying to get through this and just keep failing and failing. I checked a guide and I'm actually closer to the end than I thought and I really don't plan to restart the game now.

Gears of War 4 (PC) Bought Xbox Game Pass to play this. This is the only Xbox "exclusive" I miss by going PlayStation. My only real complaint is the forced Horde Mode stuff in the Campaign mode.

Although there really isn't such thing as Xbox "exclusive" as everything can be also got on PC. Crackdown 3, Cuphead, Ori and the Blind Forest to name a few. Is there a true Xbox Exclusive game that can't be gotten via PC?

I think the mainline Forza games before 7 and the Horizon series before 3. All though not "exclusive", Rare Replay isn't on the PC either. Also not "exclusive", but a lot of the backwards compatible stuff as well.

Does anyone really care about Halo anymore? I mean, I never did so it doesn't matter anyways.

Halo 5's campaign was one of my favorites, the gunplay and fire fights were much better than 2 or 3. Story was meh and no coop, but the game itself was pretty damn good.

5 was solid. Curious to see where they go with the story for 6. I heard it's supposed to be a soft reboot of the series too in a sense.

I'd love a reboot of some kind for Halo. The first game (at the time) was amazing but I've had issues with every game since. It needs a shake up of some kind IMO.

Infinite looks like it may be open world with some sort of possible RPG elements (according to a job posting they had listed for 343 Studios). Also going to support slit screen coop like the good ol' days. The reason why this game took so long is because they had to create the Slip Space engine from scratch so they could deliver on the promise of coop being added.

There's always Halo: The Master Chief Collection (PC) once it's released....it's possible that Halo 5 could be made a part of it.

Probably not for a gooood long while. They're still only adding one game at a time because each one isn't ready and then they're still needing to make Infinite for it too. Its possible that it will one day, but that probably won't be any time in the near future.

Is UNDERTALE actually good? It just looks like Phantasy Star/Earthbound which I never found the appeal of.

I didn't care for Undertale too much the first play through (probably a 7/10)....I did a subsequent play through on pacifist and enjoyed it immensely more..,I'd give it a 9.5/10 now

What makes it good? Story / dialogue? Cause the combat/battle system looks like poop.

the idea is to play it pacifist and blind, if you look up literally anything its going to spoil the whole thing

The writing, characters, dialogue variance, the music (Megalovania and His Theme is fudging awesome).... the battle system is unique and has a SMT "negotiatons" aspect to it.

Like I said, it took me a second playthrough to fully appreciate it...and the genocide run afterwards is gut wrenching topped off with a freaking tough final boss

I'm spending time on two different games a few hours each day for each. Nier Automata and Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake. I am really enjoying Nier, I have beaten Route A but to beat the game you have to beat B (which is mostly a replay of A) and C-E. So I'm working on that and Solid Snake, wow this game is a blast as was Metal Gear. I am referring to the real Metal Gear 1 and 2 for MSX that are on the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection as well as Metal Gear Solid 3 Subsistance not the poor games on the NES that weren't canon. It is kind of sad for me because this is it after I beat Metal Gear 2 I have beaten all the Metal Gear's that matter. All the Metal Gear Solid's including Peace Walker and Portable Ops and these two. It's my favorite series of all time so it'll just be sad to not have any more games in the series to play. For those that are fans of Metal Gear Solid I recommend you give Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake a chance they are a lot of fun, so ahead of their times.

Dillon's Rolling Western {Nintendo 3DS} 6/10
I had been meaning to check this game out for years and finally went ahead and got all 3 games in the series, but now I dunno if I'll actually play the next two if this one doesn't start to pick up.

Basically during the day you get a short amount of time to run roll around and collect as much resources as possible, sell them for money to upgrade towers and equip them with weapons, then when the day turns to night is when the enemies arrive and start to head towards the village you're trying to protect.
It's kinda repetitive, though I don't know of any tower defense games that don't feel that way.

I figured with how little anyone seems to talk about this game that maybe it's a hidden gem, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Not even Nintendo is exempt from making stinkers now and then.

I haven't yet played Nier Automata but it looks like fun and I've been intending to play it for quite awhile now. Replaying the game to get different endings...is apparently amazing but can someone explain how/why without giving too much away? Does the gameplay just branch like Outrun where it offers direction choices so you need to play a few times to hit all the options?

I haven't understood how replaying it 3-4 times makes it better besides understanding the story more but that's still unclear. Would love some info.

Anxiouz:

Playthrough 1: main character
Playthrough 2: secondary character is main character from first as a story parallel to playthrough 1
Playthrough 3: third character and this acts as a sort of epilogue to 1&2

Most of the endings occur when you fail, stray from specifics objectives, etc...

Automata is beautiful and I can definitely see how playing through a few times sounds like it would be weird/tedious but you'll never really get it until you actually play it and then it will all click. Let's just say I wouldn't exactly call it "Playing through the game multiple times"

Devil May Cry 5 Sony PlayStation 4 Pro - 9/10 - I'm on mission 13 and all I can say is hot damn. I'll never look at a motorcycle the same way again. This is possibly the best DMC game I've ever played.
