I put 55 great hours into this on Switch (not doing everything still)

This one is probably in my top 3 favorite indie games along with Shovel Knight and Undertale

I tried it a few months back but couldn't get into it. I think I just wasn't in the right mood at the time, so I'm going to give it another shot later this year.

I played about halfway through on pc before my laptop crapped out. Hoping it will go on sale again soon on Switch. What I played was really good.

I think I'm at like ~45 hours and all I have left is 3rd round at the Colosseum (so frustrating), Nightmare King Grimm (ugh) and the Godhome DLC (haven't started). Well, and the final boss!

Careful looking up Undertale. Lotsa spoilers.... also, never heard of it??? buy it now

FYI, there's Hornet DLC incoming yet to be released

Hollow Knight is amazing. On my first completion, I clocked 26.5 hours with 76% completion. I'm up to 30 hours with 84% completion now.

They've stated before that Hornet campaign will be paid DLC....but the other DLC has been free.

Round 3 of the Colosseum is driving me bat crap crazy! I refuse to finish the game until I beat this! I just made it to the boss with full health and soul, yet died. Thought i was gonna cry... Still might.

Haha I think I'm on like hour 6 of collesum (3rd round). Always dumb mistakes.

I didn’t like how long it takes you to travel to some places and not knowing where the heck to go. Also, not enough stations to revive and having to backtrack when you die sucks. It had moments of briliance for me but got sick of it after halfway through the game

I would have liked to have seen something near end game that allowed you to quick travel to benches. I enjoy back tracking, but there definitely is a lot and sometimes at far distances between stags.

Haha after multiple days of anger, I sat down and did the collesum without breaking a sweat on first try. Now off to get void heart and finish the game.

Yeah. It took 2 playthrough before I truly appreciated it as a gem that it is. The games 4-6 hours long

Would it be worth doing a Nindies thread? Pick a game a month from the eshop that's well reviewed and on sale?

Hollow Knight has been on my list of "games I want to play but just never seem to get around to" list since it launched. Another game I just ticked off that list is Dead Cells, which started in early access a couple years ago and came out in full last year. Been hearing nothing but good things since it came out but I only just started that game up a few days ago, and it's fantastic. Basically elements of Castlevania, Rogue Legacy, and Dark Souls smushed together. It's on the big three consoles and PC; highly recommend checking it out.

I thought Undertale was definitely over-rated, but I did enjoy Hollow Knight quite a bit.

I put about 40 hours into it myself. Still, need to go beat the final boss but I was trying to get the void heart. I will probably get just the regular edition. I want the CE but I have put a lot of money into Hollow Knight merc already.

I picked up Ori and Owlboy. Have most of tomorrow free for my bday and planning on dusting off the Xbox for the first time in a couple years to play Ori first!

Just got 100% on Ori in two sittings. Fantastic game, loved the art style!

Decided to replay this on ps5 with the ps+ collection. What a fantastic game all over again. Feels like I'm flying through this time as I am remembering quite a bit from two years ago.

I feel like I'm enjoying this more on PS5 with the dual shock over the Pro controller on Switch.

Absolutely one of my all time favorite games.

I first played it on PS4. I've thought about getting it on Switch. Silk Song I think is only slated for PC/Switch

I love this game as well, epic games gave it free and liked what I played but really got into it this month since it was on PS Plus.

Back to back White Palace and Grim Troupe, first shots. I really wish they would have released more difficult DLC.

Prior play through, I do remember giving up on Nightmare Grimme but pretty sure it'll be way easier this time.

Wow, third trial of Colleseum... First shot! I remember this taking me a few days. I think it's easier with the dual shock TBH.

Silksong was supposed to be out before June... They've been quiet lately, not a great sign.

With TotK, FFXVI, and Diablo 4 all releasing in the same time frame, not an ideal window for Silksong to launch!

I didn't know Silksong was supposed to be out before June. When was that stated? I thought there had just been radio silence for a long time now.

Well Starfield was also shown in that "playable in the next year" bit and that was a lie.

I mean, in my mind, "hopes to be have it out" is basically the same as "yep, it'll be ready"

They're a small team, totally get it, but I mean, c'mon ... at least give us some updates on what the delay is!

They're basically just like the Cuphead devs, minimal updates but we'll get it when we get it. And it'll probably be good.

June clearly didn't happen, but I missed this update back in May.

Maybe we'll still see it in 2023, but who knows. Would rather they take all the time needed to release an amazing game.

I've heard high praise about hollowknight. I tried it out, but it just wasn't doing it for me. I wanted to like it. After hearing so much praise for it, I was disappointed. It's one thing to try out a game without hearing anything about it beforehand, but it's a bigger letdown when you hear a lot of consistently great things about a game and then it just doesn't add up for you.

Maybe I'll watch gameplay of it, at least experience it that way.

What did people here enjoy so much about Hollow Knight? The question isn't rhetorical in any way. I'm just disappointed and want to understand what other people experienced with the game that was so good.

Yeah, I have enough trouble with the average length MV (10-15 hours). By the end of the game, I'm usually starting to have trouble remembering where everything is because the map has gotten so huge. With HK being 50 hours long, I feel like I'm going to constantly be forgetting where things are.

HK is one of those games that's not for everyone. Even as a Metroidvania fan, it took me a few hours to really get into it. Probably a combination of the dreary environment and difficulty. However, once you unlock some of the abilities that improve your movement and improve your combat skills against bosses, the game really starts to shine IMO. I put about 70 hours into it and didn't even do all the challenges.

There was a demo for Edens Guardian back in the Steam Demo Fest like a month ago. It was pretty good.
