Switch is only about a week, two tops, from becoming the best selling current gen console in Japan and did so in just 26 months:

really? Only 5 years with Switch? Oh well, if Switch 2 is BC I'll be more than happy with the increased graphical fidelity.

thats what was talked about a little while ago, they envisioned a 5 year life, if they are working on something that might match up. and if it could play current switch stuff that would be pretty nice, high density carts would seem to be what nintendo would stick with. they may have looked at it and said we need to replace the wii u and 3ds, but the ps5 etc will be out and we'll need another so maybe it all falls in line. the switch follow up in 2021 or early 2022 might not work out too bad for them. they keep the current model around for awhile, especially the mini one to replace the 3ds, but all the units will play the games so its not dividing their dev teams or the consumers

5 year lifespan sounds good to me.

3 more years of this, followed by something more powerful for the next splatoon, kart etc.. count me in, I will be a day one buyer.

I'm good with it as well. They're going to need to upgrade to keep up with next gen 3rd party games.

ya i think it would be a good move, and if they keep the high density cart thing and it can play switch games like the 3ds did ds you arent splintering your user base again. though i guess some things would only be on Switch2

I've got zero interest in MM2 since it doesn't have multiplayer. So sad too it had such potential.

By "no multiplayer", that doesn't mean no level sharing does it? If so that'd be an incredible step backwards.

If you mean multiplayer as in you can't co-op a level or whatever, I could probably live without it for a Mario Maker game.

They didn't outright say it will have multiplayer (the Super Mario Maker website still says "Multiplayer: TBD"), but they kinda confirmed it in their promotional artwork, didn't they? To bother making this image and then not having multiplayer would be messed up.

They show 3 people with 3 switches. So I'm not sure whsy that's supposed to mean.

But I'm kinda over Mario 2D games if they don't have local mp. The fun if NSMBU and 3D World was having local and doing like a 4 man coop thing or even 2 person.

That's just me though I may be minority.

My guess is like the 3DS version you'll be able to create levels with friends, though on 3DS you couldn't do it simultaneously, it was through Street Pass.

That kinda bugs me though, I shouldn't have to "guess". This close to a game's release, we should really know this kind of basic info about the game already, I don't know what they're waiting for. Regardless I will be pre-purchasing this the minute it is available on the eShop. I won't make the same mistake I did on Wii U and get the physical version.

E3 is what, two weeks before launch? There is still the possibility of a direct before then. You should know what you need to know well ahead of release. My biggest worry is the online will still suck. Wait and see.

Yeah, not what Switch peeps were hoping for. I think Atlus wants to keep mainline Persona on PlayStation and mainline SMT on Nintendo. I haven't played a musou style game since I was a teenager. Really not my genre at all, but it's Persona so i'll probably give it a go depending on which characters I get to play as. I'm actually surprised they are only focusing on Persona 5 and not all the Persona games.

Give us that Link's Awakening special edition system with some nice colors and I'll contribute to that number.

Do you mean like collaborating on levels and stuff, or just being able to play through levels other people have made, in multiplayer? I assume the latter, and that might be tricky. I'm not against it, but I would want multiplayer levels to be separate from single-player levels. It would be too hard to cheese-proof levels if you have to consider what up to 4 players could possibly team up and do.

There's certainly room for improvement, but I don't think the online was nearly as bad as people made it out to be, especially after they changed the star filter to go by star rate instead of star count. Most people seemed to want online to feed them a constant stream of amazing levels, and that's just not feasible when the vast majority of level creators suck. I mostly just want better search capabilities, but they should also improve the 100-Mario challenge by filtering out new/low-starred levels. I wouldn't mind a more robust rating system, like a rating of 1-10, instead of just star or no star. I'm definitely curious to see what changes they make.

In addition, "If you purchase the "Normal Edition" or "First Time Online Set" early (including reservations), you will receive the "Nintendo Switch Touch Pen (Super Mario Maker 2 Edition)" as a bonus!"

Ya the latter.

That's fine if they had it separated out, I mean I get your point, I just wish it was an option.

Persona 5 S is NOT a switch port, its an entirely new game, coming to switch and ps4. its an action RPG developed by Koei Tecmo's Omega Force studio.

Persona 5 Scramble - The Phantom Strikers a dynasty warriors style game featuring persona 5?

did i want that... i mean not really, i'll play it, because P5, but why? a switch port didnt mean much to me but i know alot of people want one, and i want as many people as possible to experience, so it sucks for that and those that wanted it.

...

Do they just not want free money? I don't understand. They're like "Don't emulate Persona 5 on PC, it's not how it should be played!" and when people are like "ARE YOU GOING TO RELEASE IT ON PC OR WHAT?" they just smile coyly and say they're listening to consumer demand. I don't think they have ears, or they don't understand English. What a fudging swing and a miss.

kinda thinking that too, a port made a lot of sense, but... why release a port of the base game when you're about to release a definitive edition... maybe a switch version of R gets announced later. who knows anymore.

more P5R stuff is supposed to be coming may 9th.

maybe nintendo wants to reveal the switch version of P5R at E3

Yeah, I think it just gets messy if they don't separate it like that. I was only looking at it from a creator perspective, but even from a player perspective, if you're trying to play multiplayer but keep getting levels that were designed for single player, it's not gonna be a good time.

I believe them that they won't show it at E3, but normally they would have denied something like this with their usual "we don't comment on rumors and speculation", and they didn't this time. For me that is all the confirmation I need that it's happening.

Nintendo be like: "Its not a Switch, its a Switch Mini so we weren't lying". They could even call it something other Switch anything too I guess.
