E3 is upon us once again and the rumor mill is once again churning. Anything you guys looking forward to seeing this year?

Also, who was the user who did that E3 betting thing last year? If there is enough interest it would be fun to do that again.

BotW was just about as much RPG is RDR2 was.

Looks like Avengers will have microtransactions after all but it seems as though they will primarily revolve around outfits. They also said it is not an open world game and would not answer when asked if it will require you to always be online. Seems like lots of swings and misses.

Ever since Anthem, if I see a GaaS game I will stay FAR away. Played some of The Division 2 and was like "Wow I kinda like this" and then I remembered/realized all the bullcrap with the constant charges for more content and was like, "no god, NO Please GOD no PLEASE NO". the Avengers game will be nothing but MTX and charging for new content.

That's a good point. I can enjoy games like RDR2 with heavy RPG elements depending on the theme. Don't really care for the wild west theme. I don't care if you want to call Zelda an RPG or not I just lump it in with the RPGs because it's got heavy RPG elements. So to an RPGer like me, it's a must play game no matter what you call it.

I also read that the Avengers game will not have the main story be in coop but rather coop missions be spin off mini stories of the main story which is fine for me. They said they want the main story single player focused as it draws on a heavy narrative as there are story moments when the characters swap around. I'm happy to see such a strong commitment Crystal Dynamics has to delivering a good tale and was one of the things I was worried about.

Makes sense considering the all-star voice cast they hired (and paid). Half the main storyline is gonna be sitting and watching cutscenes. That doesn't work in a co-op game.

I'm not sold on Crystal Dynamics as storytellers, but with Eidos Montreal on board, I feel a little more at ease. This all sounds really good. The stuff about microtransactions doesn't bother me since cosmetic stuff doesn't affect the game in any meaningful way. And the lack of an open world is actually a plus. Far too many open world games these days. The always online stuff @dustin11 posted about is a little worrying, though. Hopefully they find the right balance because I know they want this to be a cash cow for them, but as long as they can find the right balance and cater to those of us who just want a story-driven single-player Avengers game, then I'll be very, very happy. I guess time will tell how it all shakes out.

Crystal Dynamics aren't the same company as the one that made the first 2 games in the most recent TR trilogy either. The guy who headed up those projects is head of The Initiative now which is probably partly why SotTR received low scores from not only critics and also with users here. I'm definitely not convinced with this Avengers game, seems like they're using the "Avengers" name to sell it and its worrying that they really didn't want to show any gameplay with it or even tell much about the game when asked specific questions during interviews.

It could also be Disney who is holding them back from saying much about the story or show much gameplay yet. The mouse locks down crap like that which is why anything major Star Wars related has to be kept so close to the chest until it's out to the public, cause if the mouse finds out there will be hell to pay. Disney owning properties like Marvel/Star Wars and now Fox I'm finding is a double edged sword more and more as time goes on sadly.

I have been playing Division 2 almost since release, and outside of what I paid for the copy of the game I haven't spent any other money on it.

its very bad, disney ruins everything and is not the company they once were, that they now hold two of the things most dear to me in marvel and star wars is heartbreaking. everything since they took over ive hated so much. i hate the direction they've taken SW, i'll see ep9 to put closure to it, and it cant be worse than 8, and i hate the mcu with everything i have, its the worst thing ive ever seen. the creators of the xmen animated series from the 90s have approached disney to continue the show, and im just like dear god no, as there is no way they would just let them do it without mountains of intervention and telling them what to do

Avengers was okay, but I really didn't like End Game, I thought it may have been the worst in the Avengers movie in the series when it was said and done. I watched Star Wars episode 7 and hated it, most of Rogue One was bad, Solo was pretty bad too, and I won't watch 8 or 9. Whatever they've taken over they're tried to turn into a cash generating machine more than it once was, which is fine, but they're done it by appealing to the lowest common denominator rather than the fans that had kept those series going for decades and that's kind of what bugs me the most.

After buying the base game of division 2 you will get all dlc for no additional charge. U won't be charged for more content bc it will be free. Dont kno where u got that at.(gaas is the devil i guess) The year 1 passes and the like only instant unlock stuff you can get in main game. It's like they want some people to pay to not play the game. But u definitely get all the content for free, except a couple of. 10 min quests and a couple of badges.
Division 2 is so awesome that I don't see why anyone would pay money to not have to do some cool missions

The year 1 pass is $40. Am I missing something? Do I get that for free if I buy the base game?

I'm with you guys. 9001% I'm likely done supporting them too after Endgame. Endgame to me was me putting the MCU to bed. I won't see episode 9 of SW since episode 8 ruined my life, quite literally.

So Episode 1 with Jar Jar didn't ruin your life? The whole "The Force is just this mystical thing" and then "MIDICLORIANS" didn't ruin it? The most recent edit of ROTJ with Hayden Christensen force ghost didn't ruin it?

The last battle in Endgame was just so poorly done that it just about ruined the whole series for me. They pretty much spent 15 years building up to that point just for such a hilariously bad finale that I'm probably done with the Marvel cinematic universe for a while.

As I understand it, the year 1 pass only gets you the DLC stuff early before all the rest of the non Y1 purchasers. Basically it's a fee to provide you with the content early before it comes out for everyone else.

Which ... is kinda dumb, but I'm cool with people paying to get it early.

At least those movies had a soul. Episode 8 with Rose Tico, Admiral Holdo, Superman Leia and turning Luke Skywalker into Jake Skywalker who has a fetish for sucking green milk from alien bewbs made the above on some Citizen Kane status for me.

It would have been better if Hugh Jackman walked through one of the Dr. Strange portals and lit up a cigar followed by the rest of the X-Men pouring out joining the fray. That would have been an epic way to solidify the unification of the entire Marvel universe.

The end was just so stupid. He had the infinity gauntlet at the end...why didn't he just stop time mid battle then look into the future to see what strange had seen then undo it. Or when he had the infinity stones in the beginning of the movie, why didn't he use them to look into the future at all to see what was going to happen and plan against it? None of it made any sense and the big bad guy for the whole series just kind of laid down and was purposefully stupid just to progress the movie to where the writers wanted to force it to.

Its an awesome game. And yep, all main dlc will be free. But if u want to play those free dlc 7 days early then u can pay $40. Since it's on sale I opted out of that and just bought the standard edition for $38. I can wait a week for the free expansions

Other then Keanu calling us breathtaking, E3 was a snooze.

I got to see my favorite Twitch streamer win prizes in the human claw machine so that was cool.

Jim Sterling posted his E3 review today and ya I kinda agree, it had a few hits and a bunch of misses as it had been the past few years the trend seems. I wouldn't be surprised in a couple of years each major publisher does their own Nintendo-Direct like showcase and E3 dies forever.

This year is a generational shift and most devs probably didn't want to show their games for next gen yet. EA didn't have a conference, good, they shouldn't since they don't ever have anything but Madden and FIFA to show anyhow. Pretty much all other major devs had conferences though and I can see next year being one of the biggest shows this generation because everyone will finally be able to show their launch lineup for next gen and they're going to come out with guns blazing.
