I would say no, if you want a complete game its $60. Meaning you can play and complete a full game for the cost of $60. If you want a complete experience its $180 I guess (I assume this is $60 per game plus DLC).

It's $60, or $90 with DLC. With online trading there's really no reason to buy both Sword and Shield unless you're a hardcore collector/fan.

ya and it sounds like it will be structured a little differently too not following the "month" structure of the main game, but once you play through abyss you will be able to recruit the characters into the main story and use them so thats cool, Hapi and Constance will fit right into the harem run i'm thinking of doing possibly as an ironman.

i'm also not that super into Pokemon myself so I have definitely not been following all the news recently. But do you really have to pay for two different DLC packs if you have both games? That seems incredibly asinine.

Supposedly, they're going to be big games. I don't know. This was a Nintendo press release. Most people have probably already seen it, but I figured, what the heck. I just watched Spawn Wave now and found out about it.

Honestly, a pretty weak lineup for me personally. Bravely default 2, Silksong, and Xenoblade and really the only ones that I'm interested in.

That being said, I think I'm ok with it. Gives me time to catch up on my backlog. Plus I'm sure they'll be a couple things that'll pop up as a surprise. Indies, ports, and bigger titles

This definitely isn't all they have coming this year. I'm sure there will be a Direct soon where they announce some big stuff for 2020.

Nintendo said in a tweet that they would be making announcements all year long. I'm mainly looking forward to those same ones that bogo mentioned, and hoping that 2D Metroid rumor is true.

Yeah thats definitely not their entire lineup all year, just the ones that they've talked about already. Still waiting on that Panzer Dragoon release.

What I'm hoping is they released that because their direct is so full, they don't want to waste any time talking about them. The other possibility is that they released them in lieu of a direct because they don't plan on having one until March or April.

I'm already pretty happy with all of the Nintendo Switch physical releases I have lined up all the way through May. I'm sure there will be some great announcements for the 2nd half. Paper Mario is now on the top of my hope list.

While I definitely don't expect to be getting any of them on release, the games I'm interested to snag eventually from that image are Animal Crossing (will be my first time with the series), Trials of Mana (but only kinda), Crystal Chronicles (real interested to see how well the multiplayer works via Switch), and The Outer Worlds. Think that last one, TOW, is the game I'm most looking forward to from that lineup, I hear really great things about it.

For the rumored 2D Metroid, are y'all more wanting a Super Metroid remake, or a brand new 2D Metroid? I'd be fine with the remake, but would much prefer a brand new game.

I've been hearing alot more rumors about it being the SM remake. Either way would work fine with me as I've never really played much of any 2D Metroid before.

I would like to point you to Metroid Fusion and Super Metroid. Zero Mission's alright.

Samus Returns was about the worst possible outcome for a Gameboy remake IMO, the changes were very, very silly. I'd prefer a new game I think, but let's not shoehorn in parries and slow-mo this time around please. If it's Super Metroid, it deserves a sober translation.

I still need to play Samus Returns. I started it once and couldn't get into it, but I didn't play for very long. Definitely seemed like I just wasn't in the right mood for it at the time, but would enjoy it later.

Considering I find Super Metroid near perfection, I would not want it remade in 2d. I'm too afraid they'd gimp it like Samus Returns, nerf the wall jump, and force feed you all the secrets. That would piss me off. Even if they gave it the "Link Between Worlds" treatment I don't think it would feel different enough to warrant. Give us a new adventure.

Now if Retro was up to the task to make a Prime game loosely based on Super (think Force Awakens/New Hope), I could get excited.

Having played Super Metroid basically for the first time last year, I think there's a little room for improvement, but probably not enough to warrant a remake. I wouldn't mind the ALBW treatment, I loved that game and thought it was really cool making a brand new game using the same world as an old classic.

I would adore a remake of Metroid Fusion. That game is such an underappreciated 2D Metroid IMO. Loved it and beat it twice on GBA.

Hmm, I personally think Fusion is very overrated. It's the precursor (in my mind) to the linear progression that was so lambasted in Other M. Exploration is almost non-existent in Fusion...pretty much exactly what KC and Zane are worried about with a Super Metroid remake. They hold your hand and tell you exactly where to go. That's not Metroid. I think Zero Mission is the far superior game from the GBA.

From my perspective, Fusion isn't overrated at all. I think it's rare to see people praising it. More often than not, people are criticizing it for being too linear.

So my joy cons are drifting for the second time in two years. Obviously, I'm going to have to call Nintendo. Again.

Would y'all recommend getting a used set from GameStop and return them once I get my set back from Nintendo or just splurge and buy a new set and have an extra set readily available? They're so expensive wry smile

I love the Hori joy-cons. They're inexpensive too. Sure, you can't use them in wireless mode, but they're ideal for ppl who play mostly in handheld mode. Had this one for about 6-8 months now and haven't had a single drift issue. Plus, there's that sexy normal d-pad...

@JD It works for the vast majority of games. Mostly just not games that use motion or alternate control setups, like 1-2 Switch, Nintendo Labo, Mario Party, etc. The only notable game I can think of that doesn't fit in the above category but still doesn't support it is Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee.

Yeah, it's frustrating. I play Switch about 50% handheld when working side jobs for work. The biggest piss off is that they feel so cheap and plastic-y, yet a 1st party set is like 70$??? That's crazy

I don't think they feel cheap at all. They feel like plastic because they are, but so are other controllers. The only issues for me are the size and how much they flex when on the console. As far as the size, I'm sure they designed them with the Japanese market in mind. The flexing is just a necessary evil.

I loved it too, just wouldn't consider it overrated at all. My favorite part was having a more active antagonist throughout the game.
