Welcome to The GameTZ Game Club! This is my attempt at forming an easy to get into book club type thing, but with games! Anybody and everybody is welcome to join in on the fun!

Rules:

- Each month a random game will be chosen, by myself, for the club to play. Games can vary from the beginning of gaming onward to current generation platforms. There's no limitations!

- You have from the 1st of every month to 11:59PM EST of the final day to complete the designated game. 100% completion isn't required. The point of the club is to provoke game discussion, as well as give GameTZ veterans and new users a place to mingle!]

- For every game completed, post a picture as proof of your completion Example. This is essential in order to receive your badge and entry to the monthly raffle.

- You will be awarded with a badge each month you complete the game. All badges will be proudly displayed next to your name in the original post. As long as you "roll credits" the game is considered beaten!

- Some months will feature prizes! Every user to complete the game each month will be thrown into a drawing to win prizes! Users will be assigned a number and users will be randomly generated at some point the following month.

- Each month's prizes will vary. Prizes will be given out by either me or another member. Sometimes physical, sometimes digital. If you would like to contribute, drop me a message. smile

- If you don't own the game, and you have access to it on another platform, you're welcome to play it that way. Just make sure that it's the same version, to qualify for the prize or badge.

- If you do not want to participate in the games, but would like to join in on the conversations, please do!

- If you would like to join, just post here, and I'll add you to the list of users. If you have any questions, comments, concerns, or criticism, please don't hesitate to post them!

Surprisingly I've earned the last 7 month's badges straight and they've been pretty eclectic, but I haven't even bothered with OAO this month (nor trying for the Retro's Sonic CD title either). But the first half of the month I was focused on beating Darksiders 3 before it left GP and now I'm focused on some other titles related to Antipop's Beat a game for all platforms in 2020 thread.

I think if I would have already owned the re-release of this I might have gone for it, but <shrug>
Thanks again @Frank it's been enjoyable playing some games that I don't think I would have bothered with otherwise - specifically RE7, UGG and Tacoma recently, plus pushing me to replay some other enjoyable games like Arkham City.

Idea... instead of a hiatus, can we just have another makeup month for a past game? smile

Finally beat Abe's Odyssey! (Well, maybe)

Took days.

Tips hat to @Renaissance2K for beating this game, and anyone else who also did.

I got out so many times in this game, too many. wince

@Frank Is the above counted?

Technically I got to the end of the game, but happened to have not reached enough Mudokons in order to get a true ending.

I vote "Yes, it counts" because you don't see that warning in the remake.

Ah, interesting. Yeah, I'm playing the original old school one, on a CD.

What happens in the remake after Abe

gets caught by the big boss? Here he threw Abe into a hole that had a giant spinning fan at the bottom. Poor Abe. But before he does, it cuts to a scene of the masked guy who gives Abe powers after Scrabania and that other place, talking to other Mudokons assumably asking them if he should assist Abe. They say no, claiming that Abe didn't help them, or something like that.

smile Thank goodness! I don't know if I can handle going back and rescuing every Mudokon in the factory. wince

There were numerous times in this game where I had to figure out alternative strategies, because the controls sometimes weren't split second responsive. Perhaps it's only like this in the 1997 PC version, I don't know. I'm pretty sure I solved some of the puzzles in a completely atypical manner. The way I was going about some of them did not make sense, but I was determined to try to get to the end of this game.

Thanks @Frank yes

I miss that 20 questions thread I did earlier this month... Oh well, let the questioning begin!

Are there goblins in it?

@Kommie Interesting thing about that goblin question, it's quite specific, but even if it were to get a yes, that still wouldn't be a total giveaway.

Though it would be cool if something so specific got a yes.

5. No. I wanted to pick this last year actually, but since the only way to play is an actual VB (or emu) I figured it's too niche.

I will also be playing this on Switch. Played 64 and Sunshine this year, saved Galaxy for January smile

I was going to start Super Mario Sunshine in January, but I guess I can change it to Super Mario Galaxy instead (via Super Mario 3D All-Stars). I'm interested to see how it plays with a Pro Controller when it clearly wasn't designed for that originally. I'm really hoping this aged better than Super Mario 64 did because playing through that felt like a chore at times.

Same. I think I'm going to be stubborn and play it on the Wii, though.

Oh wow, that's totally my bad. I don't know why I answered no for that. Maybe I originally read it as exclusive to the Switch. Sorry about that raspberry

From what I've heard, Galaxy is the only game actually running natively on Switch. 64 and Sunshine are essentially just emulated. raspberry

I started playing a couple hours ago, it's as fun as I remembered it being. I started out using the Pro Controller but switched over to the Joy-Cons after a bit and I think that's what I'll be using for the rest of the playthrough.
