Might as well get it started. Who's looking forward to it? I personally think that it could beat PS5, that is if they don't screw up. They need a basic UI, more first party titles, and focus only on gaming. They own the license to Rare games, we need to see new Conkers, Perfect Dark, Banjo Kazooie, etc. They did alright with Killer Instinct, I'll give them that, but they're sitting on a lot of games that needs remade, remastered, and sequels. As far as I know, it's slightly more powerful than the PS5, which isn't a big deal. But what is a big deal is that it will come with more storage. XBSX will have 1TB, which I admit, is not much by today's standards. The PS5 will have 825GB, which is ridiculous. I'm guessing that the next gen games will be around 100gb or more in size on average. If that is the case, I expect the discs will be on 4k UHD blu-rays.
So the way Microsoft has handled this whole next gen thing is partly terrible, that's no secret - the nomenclature related to Xbox Series X and Xbox One X being a big one. But now we also have to deal with different games/different versions, and that isn't always clear without a further deep dive on things (which isn't entierly on Microsoft, but again, with their naming scheme this further muddies the water). Maybe I'm just getting old, but I actually side with parents and grandparents on this issue. Sony has done a better job on this front, in my opinion.
Game Pass is one of of the few things they're getting right at the moment, and I love it.
In a few days The Medium comes out and it's the first XSX/XSS-only release (won't work on X1/X1S/X1X). I haven't been able to find any case photos...I'm interested in seeing how easy/hard it is to tell that it's next-gen only.
Instead of re-upping gamepass for $15 I bought a few of the games that were free on there. Plus a couple others. Got some good gaming ahead of me. Dragon Age Origins 360, Dragon Age Inquisition, Wofenstein II New Colossus, and Battlefield 1. Man Xbox games are so cheap, Love it!
Game Pass definitely helps drive down the prices on games that hit Game Pass. Hopefully in the future there will be competitive digital market places on consoles to help drive down digital prices even further.
I don't even know what that game actually is. I just know I get to check it out "Free" because its on GP day one. But I wont be checking it out for months, lol.
I'm gonna play it because I have GamePass and I may as well. If it's even slightly better than Blair Witch, I'll be okay with it. And it doesn't have to try too hard to be better than that to me.
I still can't find an XSX but my X1X is holding it's own so far. I was able to get an XSS and it's a fine system for GP for my son, but not for AA or AAA titles. The resolution is just so damn disappointing. Yes the framerate is usually nice, but I'd argue that 60fps at 1080p is not as great as it sounds if you've ever played anything in 4k. So. Many. Jaggies. And blurriness.
So far everything I've played on the XSS has been just fine. But I have preferred to play on X1X. So it all just makes me want an XSX all the more.
Tried it out today, seems pretty interesting so far - much better at this juncture than Blair Witch. And I didn't know how much I missed those cinematic camera angles in games until firing it back up.
Posted right above you at the same time. I'm pissed because I ran into the bug on the Medium that halted my progress today and now this haha. And I was getting more gaming time in lately. Sad panda, man.
Eject any discs from your console. Press the Xbox button on your console for 10 seconds. (this does a full shutdown) Press and hold the Xbox and Eject buttons (on the console) until you hear two beeps (continue holding until the second beep, which happens 10 seconds after the first).
Crap. You'll have to contact them for a send in and a replacement. The good thing with them though is all your saves and everything is auto uploaded to their server, so if you get a new console it will auto install you back to where you were tonight, saves, game installs, settings, the works. But you'll be without it for two weeks or more.
Actually I'm not sure what the stock situation is with them currently. So hopefully they can just fix it and send it back. If there is no stock it could take awhile.
The game was actually not half bad, gave me silent hill vibes and some pretty weird stuff going on, but the game breaking bug and then the console breaking was not a satisfying ending. From what I understand, not everyone got that bug but since the game only uses autosaves, not much i could do. I reloaded a couple of different auto saves before the console crap itself but still had that bug, so who knows.
Not sure why everyone is excited, I will never forget that microsoft Knew 2/3's of original Xbox 360 consoles would fail and they released it any damn way. https://youtu.be/xq-nAOJYeuE
I'm a ways into the Medium and I'd prob give it a 6/10. My main gripe is that it. is. so. slow. The story, the pace of the levels, how it looks like you can go down a hallway but nope there's an invisible wall so you need to backtrack down the single path they want you to. It's nice that LT makes you "run" but it's basically a speed-walk/jog and barely helps.
It's a nice looking point-n-click story game, but the puzzles are pretty much just finding an item a few rooms away (which will highlight so that you can't miss them), the extra powers have only very specific uses in very specific places (so they aren't really moves that you just use when you want), and for a horror/suspense game there is no sense of danger or any worry about dying (for the most part).
Xbox started working again today. Came right on and actually got past that part in The Medium and finished the game. I guess my xbox needed some alone time.
I score The Medium a little higher than Anxiouz. Maybe 7-7.5/10. It is definitely a slow burner, but one of the more enjoyable walking sims I've played in a while. Great atmosphere, cool duality mechanic, mostly solid voice work and performances. The ambient music is mostly great as well, and they manage to not overdo it - it shows up when it's needed and fades when it isnt. After Blair Witch, this is a much better outing by them, in my opinion. Some minor glitches and that one major one that not everyone seems to get need to be addressed, but all in all, a solid 7-8 hour romp.
Yeah, I may have been a little harsh but I'm still planning on playing more and my score may change. It's just so easy to find fault in some design decisions.
You can die but it's mostly only during frustrating chase or stealth sequences. But in 95% of the game you cannot as there really aren't any enemies unless you count moths (not a joke).
Its the best game they've done so far in my opinion. That may not mean much depending how high of an opinion you hold on the other games, but yeah. I enjoyed the layers of fear games for what they were, and absolutely hated Blair Witch. And coming off BW, the Medium was a pleasant surprise. Do keep expectations in check, because it is a walking simulator and it is slow, but it brings back those cinematic RE style camera angles, that nice SH inspired music and some messed up ideas.
After a quick search it looks like I'm about 3/4 the way through The Medium. It's still a slow slog...kinda interesting but I'm still kinda just wanting to get through it.
I really like some of the story telling but since the gameplay is 100% linear it's tough to feel like I'm actually using any skill to play this or advance the story because of my actions.
I would give a warning that there is some innuendo that infers some awful crap:
Several references to Jews being killed, but only through jewellery you find. The story telling is clumsy but there are several Jewish star necklaces near bodies that tell you (in the spirit world) that they were killed via violence.
And some heavy but awkward references to WW2 so this infers a lot of crap but ultimately is vague and has no meaning (or has super meaning?). But it's all pretty unclear to me how that era plays into this story.
But then there is perhaps the worst thing you'd want to see in a game:
...a pedophile taking advantage of kids is a thing. Unsure if it is sexual or physical abuse but it's a super strange turn and it lingers for quite a lengthy bit of time. And it's very much not clear what happened but you hear a child/adult voice interacting many times.
These aren't explicitly stated but holy hell does the mediocre voice acting and dialogue insinuate some terrible things in a way they may or may not be intended. Super weird.
Developer San Diego Studio has now confirmed that MLB The Show 21 will not be a PlayStation exclusive -- it will be the first title in the series to launch for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. MLB The Show 21 launches on April 20th, 2021.
Wow, Russell also confirmed that MLB The Show 21 will feature cross-platform play and cross progression.

I thought they had said last year it'd be coming to Switch as well? I guess that didn't pan out? I wouldn't buy it on Switch anyway but it's nice for the other consoles to finally get a baseball game worth playing.
And had to restart. Tried hard mode, and the combat tracking makes dodging most things nearly impossible, so dropping that down so I can actually have fun with the game. I dont think any achievements or anything is tied to difficulty which is good
So yeah, Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Earthblood is rather lame, to me. Combat itself is fun to rip crap up, but the game is devastatingly boring. Factories, warehouses, dams, etc, all the locations you go on missions look exactly the same and consist of the same thing. Sneak by some, tear through others. Some cool ideas with the spirits and all that don't seem to have much bearing on anything other than them saying "Yeah we believe that". Its a $20 game at best. Maybe it will pick up but I think I'm at least a third through the game, and its been pretty dull - which, in a game about werewolves, is a gigantic missed opportunity.
About 75% completion, and not much has changed. I'm disappointed not because I expected an amazing game, but like I said, they made a game about werewolves boring as hell. I feel like you have to TRY to do that.
I watched the review from ACG for Werewolf and he was disappointed as well. Said it's a rental/deep-deep sale at best, which is his next to lowest score.

See, I knew going in it was never going to be great and was probably going to be extremely shallow. I accepted that, but I never expected it to be this dull. The environments are all uninspired drab, with the spirits you convene with being the standouts really. And when you hear werewolves vs amped up humans in mech suits, you'd think you're in for at least a crazy ride. But this is just boring which is not what I expected.
Target having b2g1. I scored a few xbox one x enhances games that were on my kinda maybe at a good price list.
Outer Worlds Spyro Spongebob Rehydrated
All for $20 ea, not bad. I also have Jurassic World Evolution that was on my list, but now that I scored one, I'm kinda like, meh. My first order had Jurassic World instead of spongbob so I cancelled the other 2 and reordered. However I was not able to cancel Jurassic World and it's still only at $20 (so maybe a tip for people who only want to, order 3 and immediately cancel 1 of them you don't want). I might return it to target once I get it. The other 3 games though, pretty excited to play!
Got an email from gamestop about online bundles for the S so hoping the SX comes in soon. They are giving an extra $50 starting tomorrow for the X so going to trade my two in for credit and hope to catch an SX soon. ($225 each) not having to ship so not passing on the deal
I am really enjoying a lot of these Xbox one X enhanced games. While waiting for the true next GEN games to start coming. There's a lot that came out the last few years that I missed out on. Playing Spyro right now. Beautiful to look out and fun to play, that's how I want my next Genny games.
Anyone on the Xbox series x or S, navigating the sales in the store is driving me insane. Periodically when I'm scrolling through the games, the cursor moves all the way to the left to select the categories, even if I'm pressing right on the stick. Also sometimes it goes all the way to the top. This happen to anyone else?
I haven't had that happen but I do 90% of my browsing from my laptop, and just send the DL to my system. I hate navigating stores on consoles but I just got my XSX in and I didn't have what you're describing happen when I did go to the store tonight.
Yeah, I'll pay $15 just for one month of Dirt 5. Right now it's $40 at the cheapest. I plan to pick it up eventually when it's $20. But it will be nice to play it now.
Dirt 5 showing up might be why Dirt 4 is leaving at the end of the month. If anyone cares/doesn't know these are also leaving in ~12 days: Vambrace: Cold Soul Oxenfree Momodora: RUtM Jackbox Party Pack 4
Shadows of the Damned is leaving soon too, not sure when though as it's an EAplay title.
Yeah I started Oxenfree the other night. I think I'm pretty close to the end. I'm only playing for about 45-60 minutes a night. Its enjoyable. Could probably be completed in one 2.5-3 hour session.
Been playing Jedi Fallen Order on the XSX in the updated Performance mode. 60fps feels great, and somehow the graphics still look really nice even though they're 1440p or something? Quality mode looks a little crisper at 4k but really not all that much better.
I started a New Game+ but you don't have access to all of your skills until they unlock at certain points in the game. That's a little lame but it does force you to complete certain puzzles and things in the desired way so I get it. The game is still an absolute blast. So good.
EA just completed the purchase of CodeMasters. I wonder if that means we will see all their games on GP now. Since the EA thing is a part of GP. Well, that might actually explain Dirt 5 coming so soon as well.
Holy crap. I'm late to the party but finally just got COD: Cold War and on XSX the "update" download is 155GB. A whopping 300MB on disc. LMAO.
Edit: Now it's installing 1.8GB from the disc, and another 89GB update. Amazing. I was able to start the game an uninstall some stuff but man, this was one of the bumpiest installs I've had yet. And all I want is the campaign.
Isn't Warface a F2P game? It is. But looks like breakout costs $20. I thought it was an expansion for the F2P game. But its a stand alone thing apparently.
Lame month... But Port Royal I would play that. I just got rid of GPU, so I guess I will miss out on this month's offerings... But I did manage to snag a copy of Pirates of the Caribbean... Looking forward to playing that again.
Well, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 delayed indefinitely. That ruined my week. Must have been a trainwreck though, so this is probably for the best
I remember Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption, I bought the CE? I think... I just remember looking at the box and thinking damn! loved the game, but never finished it. was hot and Heavy into UT99 at the time. I have wanted to get back into it over the years but I don't know where to jump back in? Was there a remaster? or how would a guy recommend jumping back in?

Not a remaster, but if you buy the digital version (on Steam or GOG), there is a guy who to this day still works on patches and additions to the game. It was pretty buggy on release and they only ever released two official patches, so lots of issues remained. The digital version of the game goes on sale fairly frequently (usually 4.99 or 9.99), but to me its even worth the 19.99. It came out in 04, so expect some old mechanics, but it still has an almost unmatched dialogue/choice for characters due to how well written the game itself was.
The patch is called Wesp's Unofficial Patch, or something close to that - it would be one of the first results to come up when you search it. There are also mods but those are harder to track down these days due to site hosting. I highly recommend it even now.
I hate everything about the store and dashboard on the series x. Id say it was my controller, but in game it seems fine. If I'm browsing the store, it constantly boots me back to the very top of the list or all the way to the left side of the screen to select a category. Every single time, whether I'm in the store or on game pass section. Only place it works properly is on the main home screen.
> me back to the very top of the list or all the way to the left side of the screen
> to select a category.
I've seen this too, but not often. Lately it hasn't been an issue but the triggers are also shortcuts to move you to the top (LB) or bottom (RB) of screens. I've accidentally hit those before and it surprised me. Not saying that's it, but who knows.
Outriders demo just dropped. Apparently its a massive demo. 18GB. Covers the prologue and the entire first chapter of the game. I haven't really payed attention to it. But from my limited understand it is a single player with co-op version of a Destiny type game (as in it is a GaaS style game, that isn't a GaaS game). That could be wrong.
Also Diablo 3 + expansion is this weekends free to play game. And it also on sale for $20 again.
Seems like it, but not 100% sure. Seems like that stuff is turned off for the demo. But it is definitely a not so great first person shooter MMO with bullet sponge enemies and horrible gun play. Terrible story and horrible pacing.
The older Xbox One discussion got closed, so I'll put this here, as GamePass info is relevant to the Series consoles as well. Leaving GP in ~2 weeks (normally on the 16th) is: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Kona Alvastia Chronicles Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night
Has anyone played The Touryst? What started out as a nice little relaxing island hopping adventure quickly degenerated into one of the most frustrating experiences I've had in recent memory. Holy crap.
> Has anyone played The Touryst? What started out as a nice little relaxing island

I beat this game and got all achievements but I almost had to start an order for a new series x controller. Relaxing game early on turns into a rage fest later on with some of the crap you have to do to 100% it. This game starts out as a lie - relaxing and kinda charming. It only stays that way if you don't want to get full completion
> I played The Touryst a bit but got confused about where to go next/what to actually
> do.
I just kinda wandered around for a while until things started making sense. But the game takes a huge stressful turn after about the halfway mark and becomes a test of human patience. If I weren't committed by then to get all the achievements I would have quit.
Damn, I bought that game on Switch like a year and a half ago when it first released. Haven't played it yet and after reading that I'm kinda not in a hurry now. Though I wouldn't be going for 100% anyway because without achievements/trophies on Switch I find less incentive to do that unless the game really deserves it.
I think for the first time ever I finished Halo today. Great game .. but man those warthog controls are janky, but the game is what 20 years old. On to Halo 2 next. But I may try some Doom eternal or Dirt 5 next.
Also, those cut scenes at the beginning of Halo 2? Were those added for the anniversary edition? I don't remember them and they look to good IMO to be that old lol.
That's a nice set of new games in GP. It's a touch misleading though as some are simply coming back into the service and others are available already. Several are new, so I'm not complaining.
Doom Enternal is already up... And I am sure Fallout 76 is also. Regardless that's a great list. I bought Doom 1-3 all on PlayStation, was kinda hoping the one just before Doom Eternal would show up though.
Stoked about Morrowind and Oblivion coming back. I didn't get around to playing them last time. I downloaded Morrowind last night, and man does that game look rough. But I'm going to play through it anyways. Might take me 2 years, but I'll do it damn it.
Morrowind aged like milk indeed haha. I tried it too and it's like playing an old school D&D game. No wonder why I never finished it back when I had it on the OG Xbox. One day though...one day!
Just saw a rumor that Godfall is rumored to be coming to the Series consoles in May/June. Might be part of GP as well. I think I'd play it as part of the GP service, don't think I'd purchase it based on the reviews and such that I've read about it. Not to surprised that it's coming to Xbox, I suspect Deathloop will also eventually arrive there as well. But with Godfall not doing great on the PS5 and not being a Sony developed/produced title I don't think too many could be surprised at the rumor.

Deathloop is only a timed exclusive, so it is coming to xbox. And will most likely be a day one on GP for xbox as well. Which honestly has me considering skipping it on PS5.
I am not sure about skipping And waiting for DL to hit Gamepass. The game makes clever use of the dual sense Wich IMO will be the better way to play if you have the option for both.
God Fall is good, and while it's cool playing with the dual sense it's one I would wait on again if you have both consoles. I just got it because I wanted to play something that could not be played on a PS4.
Quick question about the Xbox One S, I am does it play audio through the controller? If I was watching Netflix could I send audio through the controller and plug my headphones in that way like on PS4? I like watching tv at night but I do t want to make to much noise.... It seems to be easier to find a Xbox one than a PS4 right now.
So they added the FPS boost thing to a few of the Bethesda games that were added to GP today. I was playing Skyrim last night for a few and it was locked at 30. I just booted it up and its running at 60+. It looks like the PC version on the XS now.
They also added it to Fallout 4, Prey and Dishonored. And they are planning on adding it to more.
Skyrim is a sink hole. Beat it twice in my life across 2 generations. Got all the achievements on the 360 version. Once you start it's really hard to stop, if you're into endless quests for various factions and just getting lost in the wanderlust landscape the land of Tamriel has to offer in the snowy peaks of the home of the Nord with a stunningly orchestrated soundtrack. Oblivion is like that too, but Skyrim is the complete package for me. The Dark Brotherhood for Life! Sanguine!

as a first time player playing a female nord. Who should I side with? I can see the reasons to side with "my people" but also side with the empire her bring a rational thinker and smart person. I literally can't progress any more because I keep running into those skirmishes and I need to decide!
While playing as a Nord I always sided with my people and dealt with the consequences as they appeared. May be a bit tougher in Imperial populated areas but you'll always have your brethren on your side plus you'll get a more authentic Skyrim experience how I think it was meant to be by siding with the Stormcloaks. If it was Oblivion and took place in Cyrodil I'd say go side with Imperials as the core of Oblivion resided in the nation's capital which is inhabited mainly by the Empire.
That FPS boost might be the catalyst for me to finally seek out a SX. I was holding of b/c I just didn't see the value as really only the Medium was an exclusive and my 1X has been working just fine. Plus stimulus money needs spent on something, right?

We bought one to use as our bedroom media device- mainly because we have a membership to les mills on demand workouts which is easiest to use on Xbox. It's been great. Much faster than PS4 at loading / streaming all that. Sound quality is great. There are not too many Xbox family games I want to play so it's been perfect for that with game pass too. It's very small and takes up less space.

Yeah that's the problem. I'm having trouble deciding what my character will do. I'm at a point where there is a quest to go to something with the nord king. I'm not sure if that's the decision point but I feel like "my character" hasn't really even learned enough about the story to even MAKE a decision.

Then make a save. And pick one. See if you agree with it. If not go back. I'm 100% sure that is what I did the very first time I played Skyrim as well. Because you really are not given all the info before hand if I remember correctly. Or you are, but only if you do things in a certain order I think.

Yeah, there is nothing on PS5 right now that says I need to get a PS5, even more so that 95% of Sony full exclusives still release on PS4. My Xbox Series X just gives me everything I need at this point. I'll reassess when the first PS5 revision gets released (slim version) but so far, looking ahead, this new gen is going to be a 1 console gen for me only.

Not trying to kick off a console debate, but I feel exactly the same about the SX. With a good working 1X, the SX just doesn't have anything that says 'I need to own an SX right now'. Note I'm not interested in the SS. Having only got a PS4 in the past 6 months or so, and barely played it either, I'm not seeking out a PS5 either.
With both, Sony more so, being a challenge to acquire from a retailer, I'm less inclined to hunt for one or pay somebody extra $$ to acquire one. I feel like there's just really little reason, in my opinion, to upgrade to either. I can admit that the FPS Boost and Quick Resume features seem really cool and nice, but I can, and have been, living without them thus far.

I left off the PC only titles. The demo for Outriders was alright, not enough to make me buy it but on GamePass I'll give it a try. Octopath Traveler is also a surprising announcement, I've wanted to pick that up for the Switch for a while now but keep putting it off.
Idk $15 a month seems like a sweet spot. Anything above $20 I may have to reconsider or only resubscribe when theres big or numerous releases at once I wanna play
Like most things in life, the price is going to go up. What I've liked about Microsoft's approach is that they typically continue to add more value to it to justify the cost. There are more games on Gamepass than ever and they've continued to expand their "first-party" offerings to have more games being launched on Gamepass and there hasn't been a price increase (except for PC) since it launched.
That being said, Microsoft now has 3 subscriptions for the Xbox ecosystem. They can probably get away with small price increases, but y'all saw what happened when they tried to double the price of Xbox Live.
I wont like an increase to $20, but I wont complain about it either. It has saved me a lot of money. I also currently have 3 years on my current time left. So I wouldn't be paying the higher price for a couple years anyways.
$20 a month I'd do with all these new acquisitions like Bethesda they have to justify the increase sure but make it a nominal increase like Disney Plus just did. Raised $1 a month. Don't double it to $30/mo.

You are not wrong. The rush to get a new console right now is irrelevant as the games designed for them specifically are not even out yet, If you have the last version of XB1 or PS4 then it's all good for a bit imo. I came from XB1 vanilla so this is a major upgrade for me.

From an original XB1, I can see the desire and value in upgrading. I've been sort of mystified that the only SX/S 'locked' title I've seen has been The Medium that got... medium reviews. I was thinking that the likes of Dirt 5, Tetris Effect and a few others might also be limited to only SX/S releases - not that they couldn't also work on the X1 since obviously Tetris is just a port, but I figured they might limit it to just the SX/S. Alternatively I also see the value of having more games available to their larger customer base.
I'm still largely in the M$ system with GP pre-paid for another almost year, so I will be seeking a SX at some point, but a compelling reason to upgrade now just isn't there.
Have been having fun with Doom Eternal, but it's very hard. The only game that impressed me visually was Gears 5, but when you sprint I get instant motion sickness, but apparently you can turn that off... The thing is from what I played of the game I don't really like it. So I am just waiting to play that true next gen game that I can have a good time with yet on the SX.
Dirt 5 looks great from a last gen perspective, but next gen? It got an update right? I feel it lacks in the next gen visuals department... But it's still the most fun I have had with a DiRT game in awhile, well I think it's my favorite racer currently.
Maybe someone could give me some ideas.... I have GPU for a little, a trades some old psx controllers to a friend for a 3 month pass.

I believe the first game that will really take full advantage of SX will be MS Flight Simulator this summer (if its still on track for that time frame).
> @Finn the 4k update for Dirt 5 dropped last night. So it should look much better.

I cannot find anything on that... played some DiRT 5 tonight and did not notice anything different. Its not a breaker, I am really liking what they did with DiRT 5. I skipped 4, but from what I did find apparently this one they changed a lot of stuff. I don't know if I liked the forced extreme edge style they are going for (Hello FH3) but I do really like this game.

Oh wow. My bad. It was Wreckfest that got the update. Not dirt 5. I just played them both back to back and they run together in my head as the same game.
I've been doing maybe 3 Dirt 5 races a night and at that pace I've really enjoyed it. The visual modes for Dirt 5 are confusing though: Image Quality vs Resolution. I finally figured out Image Quality is the way to go.
Has anyone tried the new MS branded headset for the SS/SX? I like the price point, but I love that it does not need a damn dongle... something Sony really needs to start doing.

I've heard good things. The thing to keep in mind is that it only works with Xbox and PC (via Bluetooth I believe). As a guy that has a lot more systems that support USB audio, I'd say it's worth the extra $50 to get the Arctis 7X.
I had thought about that at first, but I could not find a pair and it was also over my budget we gave ourselves for birthday spending... being an expensive year after buying a house and all. So I went with the pulse 3D for the PS5. But you know I still have my Sony Golds and it would probably be smart for me to sell both and get the Arctis7X. rather then dropping $130 CAD on another pair.
My son tried Wreckfest tonight, continuing my career (but failing to win a single race). It definitely looks more crisp on XSX after the recent update (now that I can really look while not playing). It's still not my type of game (it always seems either too easy or too hard) but for something on GP it's outstanding and it looks really nice now. I expect to play more so that he can watch.
It Takes Two looks great. I was going to preorder it at Amazon earlier this week but it wouldn't arrive until Tues. I just bought it now and it'll be here Sun lol.
I was going to ask what's a good pirate game on Xbox? I have an itch to scratch and since Pirates of the Caribbean is not BC what are some good options? I see Port Royal is available with games with gold be never tried a PR game before... Looking for suggestions...
I remember trying sea of theives when it came out and being very unimpressed with it... Has it improved? And yes I do have Black Flag, I can't believe I forgot about that.
I wish they would do a remaster of PotC, maybe now that MS owns Bethesda they will add it to BC? I know it means nothing or we would have Mech Assault there also. But I can dream.
Argh, I forgot the whole thing behind the PotC game on Xbox. Oh well.
I've never touched Sea of Thieves but I'm well aware that over the years it's changed/improved drastically and some consider it the best true Pirate game available.
I may just do this... I am going to get Sea of Thieves via Gamepass but I may want to see about a flash deal on Lego games... They seem to pop up from time to time.
Actually, I see that it never came to PS4... But I think I seen it on PSnow...

Been playing Ryse Son of Rome for the first time since playing on a friend's Xbox and it's it's a little better then I remember it but the one thing that gets me is the 3 character models for the barbarians they toss at you. I am only 20% done and kind of have to finish it now. I like the concept and the theme but it definitely has its issues and the gameplay could have used some more polishing. But I think I would play a Ryse 2 if it ever released.
I just finally gave Ryse a shot last night. It was part of the weekly tasks for some points and I've wanted to check it out for a good while. I only got through the first fight and brought Nero into his chamber - wanted to assassinate that horrible emperor. I think I'll put some more time into it though.
It definitely needed some more polish... The controls seem pretty awkward at times. But my biggest gripe is the is with the extremely limited bad guy models. According to the game they could not have been that uncivilized if they mastered cloning it is not a great game but it's decent.
I would like a part 2... but apparently that got nixed over a dispute with MS and fighting over who owns the property.
What of I already own gta 5, lol doesn't leave much I'm interested in, for now and it seems I have previously already boght zombie army 4. I need to stop buying games I guess
I've been playing Borderlands 3 on the XSX recently, and it looks and plays really good. I usually lose interest in these games after awhile but so far I'm digging this. I love the aesthetic!
Quick question... I bought a wireless headset and when I want to switch between it on my speakers do I have to go into the he audio settings everytime? Or is there a faster and more convenient way like on the PS4/5?
If I have my headset on I hit the PlayStation button I believe and I can easily adjust the settings for sound. It feels like less steps... Though if I am not mistaken I believe it was even better on the PS4.
Just seems more awkward on the Xbox. I know I can have it set up so that sound comes from both and I can just turn off the headset... But if I am using the headset I don't want to have sound coming from speakers... And I have to hit the Xbox button go into settings audio and piss around in there... I could just mute the TV also but that just seems to mute everything.
Ways to kill XBL Gold - Hike the price - Appease the market of freemium players by removing the requirement for XBL Gold to play online for f2p titles - Make the other incentives (like GwG) unappealing - Make GPU more appealing with more exclusive titles being added
It's the fact that much of what they're hyping has been available somewhere else for a while that turns me off. For Xbox exclusive gamers it's great- if you've got / had another platform- unappealing imho.

When I hit the Xbox button I do see an audio option but it tells me to use the headphones to control volume.... I don't see a headphone icon other then the indicator in the top left that's not something as quick and easy as the PS5... I have to be missing selectable.
On the PS5 hit the PS button, go to sound and select what I want the PS5 to output to... 3 steps.
Right now on the Xbox I have to goto settings, select general, volume and audio output, speaker Audio then HDMI Audio off.
I know it's litteraly 2 more steps, but it feels damn awkward and not well thought out. To select these options seems like there is more "travel" to get there.
Again if I am missing something let me know, I would love a simpler way of doing this. I could take a pic of what I see if that helps.

Hmm, I think I get the icon on the home button screen because I'm plugged into the controller (yep I just tested, without it plugged in there the icon does not even appear). So its just one screen for me. On both systems. I started doing that this gen (plugged directly into the controller).

Hmm, seems odd that MS would overlook wireless headphones, but I am sure they will fix it, they take feedback better then most.
I almost bought wired but I remember back about 3 years ago when I bought a wired one for the PS4, I though what the hell it's plugged into a wireless controller who needs wireless. Well I get home plug them in put them on and 30 seconds into playing COD WWII my cat put and cut right through the damn things. That cat is sadly no longer with us, but the Orange tabby we have now is just like the other guy! So I did not want to chance it.
It's not a deal breaker, but it's just a 1st world issue.
I can't hype NieR Replicant enough. This game is just as good as I'd hoped, actually better. Running on Series X it hasn't once dipped below 60fps that I can see and the performance is supposedly even better than PS5.
Combat is amazing, story is good, script is actually really really good, and overall it plays like a late PS4 game and you'd never tell it was originally PS3, they obviously did a ton of work.
And the soundtrack, well you already knew it was going to be incredible. Anyways definitely recommend and I'm glad I got the SX version.

They did. But, just like last time, its only for new Spotify Premium subscribers. So if you've ever had it before, Spotify wont let you redeem it. I had that problem the last time they did this. I had a 7 day free trial of Premium a couple years ago. And they wouldn't let me use the GP 3 free months because of it.
I guess I just don't care enough about a few ads while listening to music to bother with that. Spotify is no different than listening to the radio to me.
They had the 2 bundles up couple days but not long ago I signed on and you can get console only. I got to use my credits from system trades and $5 coupon from Pro. Still have enough for a PS5 if they ever get one.
I keep reading developers are having issues with the Series S development... not sure how true it is. Wouldn't buy it over the Series X even if I was desperate for a GamePass machine
After going through my games from PS4 and Xbox One, I for sure prefer PS5 going forward BUT I am digitally invested in some Xbox and Gold 360 games so the Series S is going to be fine. If they had the X I would have picked it up but its not like the Digital PS5 and PS5 for me, no way the Digital PS5 works for me with all my PS4 games. I no longer have a Xbox One X or PS4 Pro. I saw I only had 9 Xbox to Xbox one games not Digital, and I put 8 in a bundle for sale. Only keeping Sid Meier's Pirates Xbox, have a 360 for it but will see if they have it digital too. Was much prettier on Xbox One X
> I keep reading developers are having issues with the Series S development... not

When they were announced I did wish MS went the Sony route and made the same system minus disc. Drive, if they still wanted it cheaper then still do the 512 SSD. $350 would still be a nice sweet spot.
MS is gonna drop the XSS at some point. It's come up a few times that some devs are struggling to get titles to run well on all of the diff hardware. And I don't see that the $300 price point is making any difference post-launch.
I had an XSS for a bit...if you've never played in 4k on a home console it's wonderful. But if you've had an X1X or PS4 Pro then the XSS doesn't have any wow factor. Sure the UI is snappy but I can't recommend getting one even for GP. The SSD isn't as small as people make it out to be, but it IS limiting. Just get a used X1X until the XSX comes down in price.
Ya I've always had my doubts about it. I was going to buy one since I'm traveling a lot for work but I ended up just packing my Series X and I am glad I did.
I can understand why they wanted a gamepass 1080p machine but really it's just a bottleneck and a bad idea. The $400 PS5 is such a better execution, for $100 more you get a 3X GPU and the same hardware across all lanes
I currently have a series s and actually like it. Zero issues and is super fast. I will eventually upgrade to the series x, but for the time being the S is fine for me. But I mainly use it to play mp with some buddies. I use my ps5 for most new games
Same here. My XSS has been running like a champ. I did end up getting an external SSD on the cheap as there are some massive games that I play frequently enough that I didn't want to have to keep deleting them to make space. I'll probably wait until there is a 2tb LE XSX before upgrading.

One of my favorite series of all time. I have played several iterations of sid meiers pirates sooooo many times over the years its insane. It doesn't take a great pc to run the pc version if that's a possibility for you its pretty and has content cut from the console versions. Inland cities and more interactive way of hunting thr treasures and stuff.
I want a series S for the bedroom... I can't seem to find a cheap last gen console right now and for what some people are asking for an Xbox One S I may aswell get a Series S.
But I am in talks with a guy about his PS4 Slim... But he is hesitant... He kinda wants a PS5 lined up first.... Argh.

I traded in @ gamestop my Xbox Xs, PS4 Pro (did keep the Star Wars controller) and V1 Switch for $225 each, saw they did $250 each not long ago so they are holding value. They have the X for sale @389 Used not sure anyone would buy it for that price. The Star Wars Pro pictured shows a Black DS4 (makes me think its my old one and famous or everyone who trades theirs in kept the Star Wars controller too LOL)
I got pinged about controller battery recharge kits so I thought I'd share. For anyone looking, I bought this offbrand one in Feb and it's been fantastic for both our XSX and X1X. I believe these batteries are larger than MS charge kits and for us they are lasting like 2+ weeks even with daily usage. If you are looking I highly recommend this one.
My series x just died. No power. MS is asking me to send it back. Sucks but I'm glad it happened under warranty and they'll have some experience with making sure it's GTG.
Bummer @Feeb. My first X1X died within the first year. They just replaced it with a refurbished unit so I didn't have to wait for them to repair it. That was back when there weren't stock issues and you could just walk into a Microsoft Store and make the swap.
Got my Series S in Wednesday and loved just being able to boot it up sign in and download my games and saves even without Gold or UGP etc. Quick Resume is sweet and the fast loads even sweeter. Didn't realize the Series S doesn't get the Xbox One X Enhanced games effect but its own "enhancements" but the Series X does get it. Not sure yet how that will turn out. Needed a HD even when I had the 1TB One X and went back and forth but went ahead today and grabbed the expensive 1TB Expansion Card. No regrets, its only money . Started up Halo as I never beat any of these games, had the discs then the Digital Collection for years so its time to play or delete it and don't look back. So far its not grabbing me like Gears of War does.........on Halo able to cycle between the original look and the updated version, is that really what Halo looked like?
@groo, yep that's what it looked like originally. It's a 20 year old game.
I felt like the expansion card was way over priced. After watching some videos, I ended up buying an SSD as most games aren't going to be Series X|S specific for quite some time. By the time they are, they will probably have released a 2tb Series X.

When they make that Gears of War 6 Series X 2TB I will upgrade, I had sold my X, Pro and V1Switch to upgrade. I did not plan on getting an SS at all just the way it shook out. I had swapped a Gears of War 4 2TB Limited S for my first X and hope the one for GOW6 is as good, didnt care for the 5th's console.

I am so with this.....although I already have an XSX I would get the gears one that comes out with 6 for sure. I still have the XOS that you've mentioned(the controllers are still the best!) and my 360 is the LE gears 3 console. Definitely prefer the red consoles.
The service process is so easy. I love the Microsoft support stuff because they have their crap together. You can tell they genuinely want you to enjoy their products and be satisfied.
I had played Just Cause 4 when it came out but got bored with it...unlike the previous games which I totally loved. It joined GP recently so I gave it a whirl again and...it's still lifeless and dull. Not sure what the magic sauce is but this is missing it.
On the other hand, I saw that Shadow of the Tomb Raider hit the Frame-rate Boost list bringing it to 4k/60fps on the XSX. This is my least favorite of the TR reboot trilogy but at 4k 60fps it's really quite fantastic. It was already a great looking game but it feels so good now.
I encountered 2 issues with Shadow of the Tomb Raider and FPS Boost. There were sequences of being chased where you had to basically just run/jump/climb quickly while being shot at. After dying like 30 times in a row when in High Quality mode with FPS Boost on, in the game settings I set it to High Framerate. And got past the area in my first try. I don't know it it was a latency issue or what. But besides these 2 sequences I had no other issues.
I also tried out the XSX upgrade of Saints Row the Third Remastered yesterday. In general it's pretty nice although it def still feels like an old game. But I forgot how great the beginning mission or two are...this game starts off with a bang.
So I used some of my reward points and got a gift card to pre-order Necromunda: Hired Gun for like $9 out of pocket. It looks like a decent enough time, especially for $9.
My Series X will not wake up alot of the time and I have to power cycle it. Happens far more than I would like.
Also, Concept Destruction seems to have an issue everytime I try and pop the survivalist achiement... Game just locks up. Though I will say the survival mode in that game differes greatly between that and the PS4 version...from what I remember. But I absolutely love it. Cardboard car destruction... Whats not to like.
I will call tomorrow, maybe there is a setting I could tweak.
So I had this game with a crazy amount of GS tied to it but man there are a few things I really enjoy about it is the shooter/tower defense aspect of it. Also the boss music is pretty damn good. I have a number of achievements left to get but I am not rushing it... This is exactly the type of game I was looking for.
Though it did ask for permissions before I played it Wich was kinda wied ...
I played a bit of Saints Row the Third Remastered but remembered far too much of it so I wasn't really enjoying it. Decided to give Crackdown 3 another go...and I'm having a blast. I remember even more of this game but am having a lot of fun jumping around and doing the repetitive missions. The orb collecting is addictive.
I don't see a topic for Xbox one anymore so I'll post it here. I ended up buying cyberpunk for $10. I have an Xbox One X. Anyone know if it's stable enough to play now or do I need to wait for more patches?
they are working on a next gen upgrade that hopefully will help. the game ran great on pc, so if they can get a next gen upgrade out to get it to that level it should be fine.
I played Cyberpunk on X1X many months ago and it was stable then and played mostly ok. The game itself has design issues that I couldn't overlook though, so I had more issues with the game design than the bugs. It's a clumsy game but should play mostly fine on X1X at this point.
xCloud coming to X1 consoles to bring future gen compatability to last gen consoles. So you'll be able to play XSX games on an X1 in the future, if they're on Game Pass and cloud enabled. While it's cloud based, which means you'll need a strong internet connection to play, it's a great option for people that can't/don't want to drop $500 on a new system.
All I know is I definitely want to upgrade to series X win halo infinite and Forza horizon five come out. At least I have the limited addition cyberpunk 1X so that should make it a bit cheaper to upgrade.

That's kind of cool, but I still worry about latency and the resolution/compression. Anyone who's played stadia (and is honest about it) can tell you it's better to have it on console. Xcloud is OK but it's not like playing on a series X.
But it you're really short on cash and the game is only on series X, it's not a horrible alternative. Pretty cool of MS to do that.
Monster Hunter: World, Outer Wilds, Soulcalibur VI, Battle Chasers: Nightwar, Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite and The Messenger all leaving GP soon. So if you've been putting them off now is the time to play them. These will all likely leave on the 30th.

I have an issue with Outer Wilds. I got it for free from the E3 thing Microsoft did a few years ago, and it showed in my ready to download list. But at some point it wasn't there anymore and now says I can download it with gamepass. Also when I boot the game, the gamepass icon shows on the bottom right, so it's not showing as me owning it anymore.. anyone else experience this, and what should I do to make sure I don't lose access to it when it leaves gamepass

I don't own that game. But I get this with other games I own that are on gamepass. If I play them they show the GP icon when it boots up. And I get credit towards the GP daily and weekly rewards things. But, they all show in my owned/ready to download when not installed. So I'm not sure. Maybe that was a timed deal from E3?
Agree with Archer, I owned Batman AK before getting GP and am pretty sure when I load it up the GP logo appears and I'd get that credit for playing a GP that day.
That said, some of those leaving might adjust my priorities...
Well u always get the gamepass points, whether to own the game or not. But my issue is that it's no longer in my ready to install list. And no, it wasn't a timed thing. It was supposed to be permanent. I would hate to have to call Xbox to get it straightened out. I will just have to wait and see what happens when they remove the game from gp

I started it on Wednesday night and played for about an hour. It seemed pretty fun. I think it's a game I could get into. However when I booted it up to play yesterday i had to download a 30GB patch (version 1.23). I read online that they are planning another big patch (1.3) so I guess I will just hold off on playing for now. Seems like there must still be a lot of bugs that need addressed with patches this large still being released. Good to see they are still supporting the game though.
Sounds like EA might be bringing Dead Space back. They will be announcing a new game in an existing IP at the next EA Play, next month. They didn't say which IP the game was in. But everyone seems to think its Dead Space. A new Dead Space trilogy would be cool.
I only ever played to completion DS3 co-op with a friend on PC. It seemed to be rather different vs. the first ~15-20 mins of DS1 that I played a long while back. I.e. DS3 and co-op removed a bunch of the 'horror' aspects. I want to try out DS1/2, simply haven't found time.
Dead Space 1 and 2 were phenomenal. I never finished Dead Space 3 cause it didn't grasp me the way the first 2 games did. If not a 4th entry, I'd take a remastered trilogy collection similar to what we got with the Mass Effect LE Trilogy.
The Dead Space trilogy was great. People seem to crap on Dead Space 3 for it being co-op, but my friend and I really enjoyed it. One of my favorite moments of DS3 was when my friend and I were split up in the game and I think her character was hallucinating or something and she was seeing all weird things that I couldn't see, so she's describing it to me as we're playing. Pretty damn cool. It might have been the weakest of the trilogy but by no means was it a bad game. If they were to remaster just the old games to test the waters and see how they sell, I'd hope they do all three games and not just the first two.
Yeah when I played co-op I was Isaac and was seeing the hallucinations and it was pretty freaky, especially when my buddy wasn't. After we realized that, I started to describe them better to him. They were cool. DS3 certainly seems to have taken a bit of a different vibe, surely driven by EA's love of $$ so some of that complaint I feel is merited. But I wouldn't call it a bad game, just was clearly approached and targeted at a different set of gamers, via a different overall style.
If y'all like the hallucinations aspect, Gears 5 co-op might be up your alley. I've been playing this via online co-op with a couple people and Kait has several of these that the other players don't see. We tend to rotate characters each time we jump back on to play, mainly so everyone gets to have fun playing as Jack.
I forgot about the hallucinations in Gears 5, surely because I played as J.D. and therefore didn't see them. I should really replay that sometime soon.
How good is the Xbox series S? I've been in the PS4 world for years and haven't kept up with Xbox stuff, but would like to catch on several Xbox one exclusives. I don't mind an all digital console as long as it's good to go hardware/bug wise.

The GPU is really gimped, so if you're on a 1080p screen it's a pretty good device. If you're on anything better it's just not as good if you care about graphics. It also plays all the Xbox One games that had a 4K patch later as the old One S version, meaning no 4K etc. For the extra $200 you get 3X the GPU power, so I always recommend the X but if you just want to get in on some exclusives and have a 1080p screen then the S is not bad
