Might as well get it started. Who's looking forward to it? I personally think that it could beat PS5, that is if they don't screw up. They need a basic UI, more first party titles, and focus only on gaming. They own the license to Rare games, we need to see new Conkers, Perfect Dark, Banjo Kazooie, etc. They did alright with Killer Instinct, I'll give them that, but they're sitting on a lot of games that needs remade, remastered, and sequels.
As far as I know, it's slightly more powerful than the PS5, which isn't a big deal. But what is a big deal is that it will come with more storage. XBSX will have 1TB, which I admit, is not much by today's standards. The PS5 will have 825GB, which is ridiculous. I'm guessing that the next gen games will be around 100gb or more in size on average. If that is the case, I expect the discs will be on 4k UHD blu-rays.

25-Aug-2021(#166)Ugh. The day I'm traveling they announce this. I was waiting for an LE to pickup a Series X. Hopefully Microsoft releases more.

* 27-Sep-2021(#171)Psychonauts 2 exists. That's all you need.
But seriously, the next big things for me are the XSX upgrade for Ghostrunner (tomorrow?), Guardians of the Galaxy looks like something I might like, and Forza Horizon 5 is going to be amazing.
Currently I'm replaying through Control: UE and very much enjoying it (again).

I still don't have series X. And Psychonauts 2 looks good.

* 28-Sep-2021(#178)Yeah Psychonauts 2 is about the only thing there I care about, and Gamepass is really the only thing I use on there and the main reason I still have the console. Don't much care for most of the Xbox flagship titles at this point - some of the way off in the future releases seem interesting (Avowed, new Fable, Senua 2, etc). I'm just finding it hard to be excited about most of the current lineup.

It's the opposite for me. I got my SX when they came out, and was unable to secure a PS5, so for a while I played the xbox quite a bit. But after I got my PS5, my SX usage has dropped dramatically to the point I'm thinking of selling it.

28-Sep-2021(#180)I just use my one s as a 4k bluray player. It has the same issue as the one x and series x...no dolby vision for 4k discs.

6-Oct-2021(#188)Anyone else playing the Battlefield 2042 beta? Several of my friends are plan on getting it but they are on Xbox one and PS4, so I would have to play the last gen version. I have tried both of the different versions but last gen is noticably bad. So I will be stuck playing the crapty version bc last gen and new gen don't have cross play. Now I'm debating on not even getting the game at all. EA and their bs

7-Oct-2021(#189)Do you guys think it's still worth it to get an X if my main gaming console will be PS5?
I will pretty much only use the X for XBOX exclusives.

I just sold my Series X after having it since launch, BUT I also still have a decent gaming PC besides my PS5. If you're gonna have Gamepass and you care about Halo, Forza, etc, probably worth it to you. I dont care about those and the exclusives I was interested in Microsoft side are years off, so it made sense for me to part with mine since PS5 is my main.

7-Oct-2021(#191)PS5 is my main, but I got a Series X as well, and I got it for: Xbox exclusives (especially for upcoming Bethesda and Arkane games and to play my physical backwards compatible 360 games), previewing games on Game Pass to see if I want to buy them on PS5, and beating games on Game Pass that I know I don't plan to platinum on PS5 (which has already made this pretty much pay for itself). I also use the Series X for streaming media, watching blu-rays, etc to save wear and tear on the PS5 (which I only use for games). It was worth it to me, because it didn't end up costing me much after I sold my Xbox One X.

* 7-Oct-2021(#192)I have a PS5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. I use the PS5 and Series X at home and use the S to travel with since it's really small and easy to pack.
Even for Xbox Exclusives you're going to want a Series X. The S Is ok in a hotel room, but the resolution takes a big hit on any decent TV, the frames stutter occasionally in games like Cold War when there are a lot of zombies on the screen. The whole promise of 1440p is a joke, and MS is wrong for talking about that. You're usually capped at about 1080p and games are just going to keep getting more intensive.
If you're going to be playing things like Sea of Thieves, Forza, Gears, Halo Infinite, Starfield etc. do yourself a favor and spend the extra $200 on a GPU that is like 4X what the Series S can do.
For a hotel machine it's really good. It's small, still runs games OK on weaker TVs, is a really good media player etc, but in my main display at my house, no way I would rock this thing.
Just to add, my life is pretty busy and my "gaming time" is kind of like my sacred time or whatever, so for me to play Xbox games like Warzone (which runs much better on the Series X than on the PS5), or Doom Eternal (gamepass) etc, I just can't imagine using the Series S. That's just me though your needs may differ and the $200 might actually be significant enough to warrant getting the weaker machine.
But if you have a PS5 and are asking about the Xbox I assume you can afford an X.

I'm going to have most my games on PS5. But SX will get it's play time with gamepass, and the big releases.
longhornsk57

7-Oct-2021(#195)Ya it's definitely to each his own type of thing. This month I am playing Pyschonauts 2, Back 4 Blood, when it comes out (pre downloaded), it's CoD Vanguard Beta for free play, and like I mentioned it does run Warzone better than the PS5.
I prefer my PS5 overall though if I had to pick one only it would be that one.

7-Oct-2021(#198)Halo is the only game I really care about on Xbox. I was considering upgrading to an XSX in time for Infinite, but after watching a comparison video, I'm going to stick with my regular old X1. The video compared X1, X1X, XSS, and XSX. I can obviously see the differences when they zoom in on various things and put the 4 images side-by-side. But even then, the differences look very minimal to me. When they were just running around and playing the game normally, I barely noticed a difference. The only difference that really stands out to me is the frame rate. I really wish this game were 60fps on X1. I remember the first time I played Halo 3 on X1 via the MCC...60fps was such a huge improvement, I loved it! But, it's not worth $500 just for one game.
I started to consider maybe just upgrading to an X1X, since I saw the biggest difference going from X1 to X1X, but it looks like retail on those is still $499. What's up with that?

* 7-Oct-2021(#199)It's becoming the opposite for me for some reason that I didn't even plan. I use my Series X for most 3rd party games and my PS5 for mainly exclusives. Probably because my friend only has a Series X and we can only play 3rd party coop games on there together.
Dasgessabel

7-Oct-2021(#200)The Series X is a good console, great even, but ultimately redundant for me since I still do game some on PC as well. Luckily I still have Gamepass until next year, so I can take advantage of it on PC even after selling my Xbox.

7-Oct-2021(#201)I have just an XSX and although PS has great exclusives, I'm not really feeling that I'm missing out on much. There's still plenty to play and GP has slowed down how much I'm spending on games so it kinda feels like this may be the cheapest generation for me.
My plan is to get a PS5 slim a few years from now since I absolutely need to play the new God of War. But I can wait and then just snatch up everything I missed on the cheap.
