"RULES"
1. Have fun 2. Beat games - proof NOT required via an image, but lying is lame and you won't 'win' anything for beating the most games 3. IF you are interested in badges, when you beat a game for 1, include something like 'Counts towards badge X' OR 'Earns me badge X, first game was Y' 4. IF you don't care about badges, then I will not be handing them out 5. No monthly leaderboards will exist in '22, I will post in the thread maybe around mid month and after month's end the top 5 or so participants 6. DLC generally doesn't count towards badges and any 1 game can only count towards a single badge

A little disappointed with my number 84, because I do like the original game quite a bit.
This one is Radirgy de Gojaru! for 3DS. I got it super cheap on the a Japanese eshop sale. It's kind of a dumbed down shooter that takes place on a single screen, and your job is to make sure no enemies or their shots go off the bottom of the screen.
You can shoot the enemies or swipe them with a sword to charge a battery which let's you use a shot-destroying net. So that's the gameplay loop. There are four weapon arrangements you can switch through at any time (including one where the sword also destroys bullets) but the frontal spread weapon is just generally better overall 98% of the time.
Also, you are invincible so you can get hit by bullets to stop them if you need to.
And there is tons of slowdown.
Anything that goes off the bottom of the screen will damage your base, and when it hits 0% it's game over. It's a pure high score chase game, and I completely destroyed the high score on my first play.
Go play the original Radirgy instead of this one. Even at the sale price it is disappointing.

No, I did not pay $350+ for this. There are other ways to play this game other than paying $350 and making the already stupid price go up even more. You're better off buying a new, cheap Capcom game to at least support the publisher cause guess what? Paying $350+ to play this game the legal way gives no money to the developer or publisher. It just further increases the stupid price. Unless of course, you're a condescending morally superior goody-two-shoes who could never fathom playing this game the non-legal way. I think you can buy it on the Japanese PSN store on PS3, but I certainly have no desire to do that.
25th overall, 1st of May, 7th Tunic Gets me half way towards Hyrulian Hero
This is my Game of the Year so far - lovely title that drips of the original Legend of Zelda's vibe. I loved the music, was plenty happy with the graphics, the gameplay was stellar and challenging. The secrets were excellent with many to find and lots of hints. I figured out a large percent myself and was clued in to many others that I ended up looking up as I went for the 'complete' ending. Without trying to spoil anything you can get 2 endings, the first would've required a skilled fight against the final boss, while the one I went for required all of the treasure hunting. I initially wasn't looking to go for that, but as I went along I was finding things and noticing plenty of hints in the booklet such that I eventually decided to seek them all out.
After credits, you can start a NG+ right away and I did, but I'm not sure if I'll bother going all the way through, since I put 22+ hrs in already. But so much of the unlocks have stayed with me, so I would be able to go a lot faster through the story/path, plus there's an achievement for doing the other ending. But there's also one that requires a new regular game and some stuff that I don't think I care to try for that and if I beat NG+ then that other would be the only missing one and I think I'd be compelled to try for it then.
I completely recommend this title and I suggest not looking into guides and trying to figure out as much as you possibly can on your own. The hints in the pages of the manual you collect are generally good and the game encourages exploration and has a ton of hidden paths and fun things to discover. It's also a bit Souls-like in that your corpse can be revisited for a pickup of normally 20 gold if you can get back to it. I did most times, but others I screwed up and lost that $$ for good.
@buster4252 Sorry I missed your Star Fox 64, I had it recorded in the Google Sheet, just failed to copy it to the OP. Corrected that and have you down for the Sasori Vader badge upon my next main OP update.
As for Wii Sports, that's tough b/c it's sort of an open-ended mini-game collection. I guess use your best judgement and try to get a lot of it completed. I 100% think you need to at least complete all of the sports a few times and finish well - like score above say 150 bowling, win 2 baseball games, win 2 tennis matches, etc.
> I'm going to need some clarification on this, lol.
The entire game, people are basically trying to rape/impregnate (although, they're always asking for permission to do it, and being refused) and or kill the main character. Maybe even a bit of both with some characters. It plays sorta like a Clock Tower game since it started out as CT4.
I beat skate 3 on the xbox360 I also beat call of duty black ops on the xbox360 (beating this and call of duty world at war gets me the 2nd amendment badge)

ok cool thank you! I think for wii sports in order for me to feel like I've actually completed it is to get pro status in all the sports. I'm almost there in bowling and baseball.
also finally finished mother 3 on gba. ironically on mothers day lol. man this game gave the feels so much! I really hope it does get an official release over here in the west.
#17 down: Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts on SNES. This year, one of my goals was to play some games that I might normally avoid because of how hard they are. The first was Cuphead (which was probably the hardest game I'd ever beaten). Then, I platinumed my first FromSoft game with Elden Ring. This time, I decided to take down an old school game that I could never beat as a kid: Super Ghouls n' Ghosts. This game is fun at first but quickly becomes frustrating, cheap, and (when it makes you backtrack to the beginning of the game once you think you're finished) straight up infuriating. I am really glad I beat this, but I will never play it again.
Got a few more done. Had already played most of Ecco.
Ecco the Dolphin Shinobi III
Almost done with this collection. There are 3 arcade games I plan to play and I've already started Beyond Oasis I don't plan to play any of the other RPGs from the collection any time soon.

Yakuman - Nintendo's quite plain, but quite charming 2 player Mahjong game for the original Game Boy.
I, uh... absolutely destroyed the CPU. You both start out with 30,000 points, and by the end of the match I had all their points and then some, and they were in the negative.
I don't see there is any career mode or any thing other than just to play - you can adjust a few of the rules to your liking to account for regional play styles). This is one of Game Boy's Japanese Launch titles from 1989, so you really wouldn't expect anything more.

Before the end of last month, I'd never heard of Alien Soldier before. Like Mega Man: The Wily Wars and Pulseman, Alien Soldier is a highly polished game that saw limited release in this hemisphere because of its exclusivity to the Sega Channel. Like many other games from Treasure, it's known for its excellent character design, frenetic pace, and extreme difficulty. You play as an eagle-like mutant with a customizable loadout blowing briskly through a few dozen boss fights wrapped in some sort corridors.
Alien Soldier is hard. Hard, in the sense that I limped my way through the first level and died unceremoniously to the boss after dealing only half the damage needed to kill it. The thing about the difficulty, though, is that it's easy to adapt to it. Getting through the entirety of the game on a blind playthrough without a multitude of cheap deaths is either flat-out impossible or dependent on an immeasurable amount of luck, but once you've fought a boss once - and learned its limited attack patterns and weapon resistances - it's pretty easy to get the upper hand during the rematch. This all moot, of course, if you're trying to finish the game on a single life (resources are limited and don't refill between stages) or if you happen to be on Stage 20 (which is unfair and unexpected, even by 16-bit standards) but it pushes the game from "exercise in pure frustration" to "satifying challenge," which is a rare denotation if I'm the one that happens to be playing.
Not to sound hyperbolic, but Alien Soldier is technically one of the most impressive Genesis games I've ever played. The sprite work is outstanding, with most character designs managing to scoff at the Genesis' palette limitations through rich blending and clever use of color. Larger enemies - and Epsilon itself - are pieced together from multiple independently-animated limbs that dance around the screen hypnotically. Throw in the weapon effects, and any battle scene is an explosion of excellent effects and animation work. It also sounds terrific, with an esoteric soundtrack whose instrumentation seems one step beyond what you typically hear on the Genesis' iconic sound hardware.
It took a few nights - one of which was almost entirely devoted to the aforementioned Stage 20 - but I did manage to limp my way through the game with a small amount of patience and whole bunch of trial and error.
Awesome little game with an amazing soundtrack. Definitely one I'd recommend to fans of adventure games. I'm going to play a JRPG next. Haven't played one in months. Torn between Tactics Ogre on the PSP and Grandia on the Switch. Or maybe I'll finally play that Elden Ring game. Apparently it's pretty decent.
I would highly recommend Elden Ring. I had never beaten a FromSoft game before that one (let alone platinumed one), but I put in like 140 hours to do both with Elden Ring, and it's still my GOTY so far.

I beat Super Smash Bros. Ultimate via three Classic mode routes: Marth, Pichu, and Sonic. I've now cleared it with every character and gotten an intensity score of 9.0 or higher. [imgt w=1280 h=720]https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FSbVFFMVIAA1sB-?format...[/imgt]

Hat tip to @WithinTemptation - after only around 130 days in 2022, he's sitting at 99 games, here's hoping he slows down, since quick math says we just passed 1/3 of the year, so he's nearly on a 300 game pace.

That depends on what kind of pace the others set. I really want to try and get my badge added. Sarna didn't reply to my post about the badges, so I take that as only he will get to suggest/add the badges next year. Clears leader is my one and only chance for my badge to get added I might slow down and do some longer games. I can leave all the short/easy stuff I have left for Nov/Dec incase I need to get clears. Based on how you said you got passed last year I think no lead will be safe. I had close to 400 plats last year, so only clearing 300 games would actually be slowing down for me. And really I could just replay many of those games I already beat last year. I'll probably do some of that anyway since some of them are pretty fun and not very long.
I a few few more clears as well.
Astro's Playroom Bouncy Bullets 2
Astro's Playroom is so good now that they allow inverted controls. I didn't see the option in the game so it must actually use the system settings because I didn't have to chance anything. It was inverted right from the start. Seeing people here clear it gave me the idea to revisit the game and I'm glad I did. I tried playing through it at launch and had to keep stopping because it would give me a headache. It was a great experience this time. I really wish they would make another. I liked all the cool Easter eggs and what not that is packed into this game.
I have been busy playing on my 3DS. I beat Mario Golf: World Tour . Mario is literally a cheater on the last championship. There is NO WAY he got an eagle on hole 18! Took me a dozen or so attempts at the mountain course to get #1. Fun fact: in 2014, Callaway Golf and Mario Golf had entered a partnership, where users who played in the online tourneys were granted Callaway gear for their in game miis like the X Hot Clubs and Callaway clothes, among others.
I also beat Mario vs Donkey Kong: Minis March Again . I have always liked the MvDK series, the puzzles are a lot of fun, but up until now, I have not ever beaten one of the games. Some of these levels are genuinely very hard, but I never got a game over throughout the entire game, which consists of 32 main levels, 4 boss battles, and 4 bonus stages for collecting all of the mini mario cards in each level. The final boss is pretty cool, reminiscent of DK jr, where DK is climbing on the vines and you have to shoot mini marios above him to clobber him with the bananas on the treetops.
I know I am lacking this year, gotta step up my game. As of now I am at 5/33 games beaten
So I no longer have a ps5, nor do I have an xbox series x or s, and my ps2 no longer reads discs. I also no longer have android lol. So I'm down to pretty much genesis and PC
It's hard not to play Gris without thinking of Journey, if little bits of Ori's DNA were also sprinkled throughout. Like Journey, Gris is well-crafted while remaining minimalist, abstract while still clearly trying to invoke emotions from the player, and heavily reliant on sound design to achieve such goals. Gris herself has a sprite-like appearance and floaty, exaggerated physics that allow her to move through the world like Ori did, albeit without some of the Ori's more bombastic combat capabilities.
It was obvious to me from the very beginning that Gris' journey is supposed to be an allegory for something - most abstract, minimalist, exploration-based games like this one are - but it wasn't immediately obvious until one of the first achievements popped, revealing that Gris is grieving something or someone. As Gris learns new abilities, she - and the world around her - begin to re-develop and re-vive as she learns to cope with whatever tragedy caused her suffering in the first place. There are lots of subtle little design choices and quirks that are explained by Gris' backstory, but you don't get a fulfilling explanation of what's happening unless you 100% all of the game's collectables (which I didn't manage to do, despite giving it a good college try) or have the Internet explain it to you.
Gris' slow-paced gameplay, gamepad-friendly controls, and "Plays Great" status made it an excellent test drive for my new Steam Deck. The world of Gris pops off of the device's big screen, and the ability to complete a chunk of the level, put the Deck to sleep, and jump right back in whenever an opportunity struck is a level of convenience and seamlessness I've always wanted from PC gaming, if not from every platform on which I game. Repeatedly resuming the game without starting a new session did cause some audio skipping behavior, which was odd, and the game also does a good job of showing off how limited (if not terrible) the Deck's rumble effects are, but those are two minor details that are barely worth mentioning in an otherwise awesome experience.
Unique Systems Covered: 9/36 Total Games Beaten: 14
What I hope ends up being my first successful Mass Effect 2 playthrough is officially underway. I'm still chipping away at Lunar: Eternal Blue and Diablo II Resurrected on the sidelines, but with fewer windows for small gaming breaks, it's slow going.
It's Excitebike World Rally, a WiiWare remake of the beloved classic NES game.
Controls are responsive, they added several new background environments, there are more races, there's a track editor... so what is wrong with it?
It just doesn't feel like excitebike. The jumps are way floatier, but more importantly the sense of speed is greatly reduced, especially after jumps.
In addition to feeling slower, the tracks take quite a bit longer as well. They're still short, races are over in less than two minutes, but that's still 50 to 100% longer than the original game.
You might think going from a 1 minute race to 1 minute 45 second race isn't a huge deal, but longer races plus slower feeling game just kills the fun factor for me.
I hadn't played it for years - basically when it first came out and I was disappointed then for similar reasons, but I decided to give it another go today. It still is just ok, not great.
I also miss the jumping celebration when you are on the podium after a race in the original. It was a part of the game's charm. The little song is running throuhh in my head now. And if you have played Excitebike, now it's in your head too.

Is Minis March Again worth buying if you've never played an MvDK Minis game? I played the GBA game years ago, but I haven't bothered with the Mini-centric ones. With the eShop going kaput, I must now consider it.
