I beat A4 with Ironclad. Defeated the Heart with a Feed :)

And it actually raised max HP.

There's no way I could have pulled this run off without Apparition and Demon Form. I simply didn't have hard hitting attack cards. Now with Demon Form, that's another story. A 20 x4 pummel is pretty strong.

And Apotheosis is fantastic. Great card.

:) Thanks. It's pretty satisfying to have a smooth run almost throughout.

Paying 40 Max HP is a hefty price for Apparition, but I think it's worth it.

Yeah, Apparitions are great. I used to never take them because I was scared of the low max HP, but it's almost always best to do so. On A15 or higher you only get 3 of them, and it's still worth it.

have never been brave enough (or had increased HP enough) to go for that, or the Bite for Strike trade-off. One day I'll try though

Btw, got to A14, maybe my least convincing run this time, barely made it through multiple fights, had 2 HP left against Awakened, but pulled it off

I take Bites less often. They can be pretty good sometimes though.

If you have blood vial, Bites is usually a good idea.

you dont have to lose max HP in that case, right? I think i had that happen once, otherwise i always reject it, seemed too high a cost trade-off wise

Yeah you don't lose Max HP if you have Blood Vial. Not only do you get the Bites, you also get rid of your Strikes!

Something about Slay the Spire is addicting.

Even though I just started playing Hades yesterday, and am enjoying it, and plan to play more of it, earlier today I picked up my Switch and thought to myself "just one quick Slay the Spire run." :)

I've got to hand it to the developers. They made a very solid game.

Yeah it's ruined my gaming life basically but I love it

Just got to A15, unconvincing run tbh but luckilt had time eater at the end, i seem to struggle with him the least. If it was awakened i think it woulda killed me, i wasnt happy with my damage scaling

Is there ever a point in having 2 Electrodynamics cards? Other than channeling 2/3 lightnings but that seems secondary.
Do they stack somehow?

@DrizzDrizzDrizz Nice work! Awakened One can be tough with Defect since you're typically going to have a lot of powers, but as long as you have a lot of frost orbs you should be able to deal with his extra strength.

Yeah this run i was really, really frost-poor, so it probably woulda been a slaughter lol

honestly if it wasn't for all the buffer stacking i was doing pretty often i woulda been destroyed late act 2, let alone act 3. I also didnt really have any truly great relics

Weird run, but good to mix it up

Nice. I got tired of going after A20H as Ironclad so I switched to Silent. I had what felt like a really strong poison/footwork deck going, but then The Collector just destroyed me out of nowhere.

Yeah i've been kinda craving to go back to Silent but wanna see if I can get closer to A20 with Defect first. But Silent was really fun, poison especially I really like

Explain Footwork to me, I always ignored it, seemed kinda crapty, but then I realized people love the card, so i'm definitely missing something

Footwork raised the amount of block that you get from cards. An extra +2 (upgraded version is 3)

One of the benefits to having Footwork in play is that if an enemy would let's say do 6 damage, and your block card would ordinarily give you 5, you'd now get 7(8), so you're free to focus more on attacking and less on covering your damage.

Or if an enemy would do 14 damage, you can use just 2 defend cards, etc.

Having an extra card to use without having to worry about defending can go a long way in this game. One card can make all the difference.

There's probably a lot more strategy involved in Footwork that I don't know about.

I'm thinking similarly to you on that card. Doesn't seem that great.

But I occasionally find surprising combos that I didn't know before. I'm sure there's something with Footwork, maybe a stackable bonus or something else.

Footwork is like a Defect card that gives you a frost orb. It's just 2 extra block, but it adds up, keeping your HP from going down too much.

i guess... but frost orbs can be evoked and focused, this seems more straightforward. I mean i can see its usefulness, just dont quite get the amount of love it seems to get

To be honest, I used to always take and use footwork, often upgrading it too. But, I've been avoiding it recently and winning.

I recall a long time ago, there was a Slay the Spire "turtle" guide for Silent where you focused on high block to get a win. But, I think that was a pretty bad idea at this point.

One way to win any game is to build an infinite combo deck. It takes lots of tries, but once achieved, you win all fights.

Time Eater and Heart are both difficult with infinite combo because of the 12 turns time warp thing and "invincible 200/300" buff respectively.

The benefits from it can add up quickly. Defends only block for 5, so making all of them block for 8 instead is a huge difference. There are a lot of Silent cards that are already good, but even better with more Dexterity. For example, Backflip (gain 5 block, draw 2 cards). I almost always take a couple backflips if I can because the card draw is great, so blocking for more on a card you were going to play anyway is good. Another one is Escape plan (costs 0, draw a card, if it's a skill, gain 3 block). Most good Silent decks are going to be made up almost entirely of skills, so Escape Plan hits the majority of the time, and gain extra block from a free card is great. Cloak and Dagger benefits from it while also giving you a shiv. Dodge and Roll benefits from it twice. Deflect is a nice, free block card that gets even better (good Silent decks usually have a lot of card draw, and free cards are excellent when you have a lot of card draw). Silent also has Blur, which lets all of that extra block you're going to end up with carry over to the next turn. There are just so many good synergies with it.

Beyond that, I find that most Silent decks need a lot of block because they need to be more defensive. Shiv decks don't put out a ton of damage and usually need a lot of turns to get the job done, so the extra dex goes a long way in keeping you alive. Poison decks are similar. Typically, you want to stack a bunch of poison, then you can just comfortably block until the enemy dies from it.

I don't know that I have any amazing tips. Most of my better Silent decks end up being heavily shiv-based. I'd like do more poison decks, but there really aren't that many poison cards, so it's not uncommon to go an entire run and only get offered a couple of them. That said, I'll still pick up a Noxious Fumes just about any time I see one, that card is insanely good. Also a Corpse Explosion if it's fairly early, but I probably wouldn't take one in Act III. But yeah, I'm typically looking for multiple Blade Dance, Cloak and Dagger, After Image, Thousand Cuts. Shuriken, Kunai, and Ornamental Fan are all excellent relics for shiv decks if you can get them. I'll also pick up Footworks. Accuracy can be temping, but don't go overboard. One can be good, but usually not more unless you have Mummified Hand and/or a lot of card draw and energy. Malaise is another great Silent card that I almost always take. Wraith Form, of course.

All of this! I find corpse explosion to be almost necessary especially if you run into any bosses that have multiple enemies like the donut guy. But yeah I try to pick up as much as possible and pray for a mummified hand because that almost helped me win once by itself
