new Thread Description
This thread was originally created to encourage traders here at GTZ to do more trading, especially retro related stuff. It has turned into a lot more and I am so grateful to everyone who contributed to this thread and have kept it going for nearly 6 months now. I hope this thread will continue to thrive and everyone who reads/participates in this thread will gain some value or knowledge out of it.

We will still have Trade lists up here, though it's been a while since anyone updated. I encourage everyone to look over their lists and post updates.
There is also a section for gorgeous pictures of game rooms that active participants of this thread have shared. Feel free to share some pics of your collection or game room.
I will be adding another section for information regarding video quality of retro gaming systems on modern displays and how to improve them.
There is rather some extensive discussion regarding how to improve the display quality of retro gaming systems and if you are new to this like I am, you will find it very informative.

Old Topic Description

GTZ has become a marketplace where the most commonly traded commodity is PayPal. I want to start an effort to get some trades going and to discuss some good games perhaps you never heard of or interested in but want to discover/know more of. For example, I just got intto shmups after years of ignoring the genre and I love to discover new(to me) and rediscover old ones(Sonic Wings comes to mind).

No pressure here. Feel free to discuss anything retro. Perhaps throw out some WTTF targets and what you have to offer. I am sick of browsing people's year old Available lists.

Some examples:

- WTTF/WTB/LF
- What you think is awesome game/series/whatever
- Potential games you have up for trade
- Pics of what you have/what you would love to get/what you think is the bestest awesomest game ever
- Show off your latest finds/adds to your collection

99% they will make him accept a return if he fights it and then do nothing about the item swap. I'd love to be wrong though.

There is a 2% chance I'm retarded and did exactly what he said, and I say 2% because I do in fact have an empty Pokemon game case. If I go home and find an empty Pokemon case sitting on my shelf, he's full of crap and can get bent. But I'm PRETTY SURE I woulda noticed I wasn't sliding a sealed Pokemon game into the envelope before shipping it out.

Was at Barcade in St. Marks this afternoon. Must be a new owner at that place. I definitely don't remember an arcade in the middle of St. Marks. It has been a couple of years though since I been there. They got some decent titles. I guess all the 80s and 90s players are all older and prefer beer over Yoo-hoo! now.

I can successfully skip all pizza rolls now, but a Totino's crispy crust every now and then hits the spot. Nowadays I spring a couple extra bucks for a California Pizza or something.

The reason why it sold well on Wii is because the controls are actually responsive.

Same owners as the other ones in the city (and else where in the quad-state area ... apparently there's one in New Haven now) ... the ones throughout the city seem to have an unstated theme to them. The original one in Williamsburg is the old school-est of the bunch, Chelsea has more multi-player games (NBA Jam, Turtles, Simpsons, etc), and St. Marks has the most fighting games (and possibly the only neo geo of the bunch). That one has been down there for a couple of years, and when it isn't overrun with NYU kids, it's probably the best dive bar-y of the bunch. Williamsburg is the best bar to just hang out in when it isn't overrun by hipsters (although I think they only have beer), and Chelsea kinda sucks, unless it's the middle of the day - it's always just packed. Good tots though.

Then you wouldn't recognize it in 2017 ...

For example, you might remember St. Mark's Games .... one of Manhattan's few retro gaming stores. It was a long, narrow mess of a store (I can't even remember if I should call it over priced because I was too broke and in college to buy anything of real value). They are still around, just a few blocks over, and in a bigger space, and renamed VideoGamesNewYork (and, at this point in my life, I can assure you, they are overpriced).

I saw all 3 of those you mentioned in the St. Marks one. Also, T2, Chiller, Dynamite Cop...the fighting games are kinda eh, I played SamSho 2, I saw KoF 97 or 98, Marvel vs. Capcom 1, SFA2, Mortal Kombat 2, UMK3...that's it I think.

They had 2 Neo Geo cabinets, the selections were OK. I can't remember what USED to be there, I know I have been in the top floor balcony of that building when we went for Karaoke a few years back.

I dont think so. There were a bunch of basement games stores in Chinatown, but back before I got enough into collecting to really appreciate what they had to offer.

I'm sure there were others, but most of them are just gone now.

There is one basement store left that I know of, it's a bunch of guys that used to work/own Manhattan's only Play N Trade. They also moved to St Marks for like a year or so, as an independent business after they got out of PNT as 8-Bit and Up. They are now closer to 2nd ave and Soho... by far a much better store to be in. The guys that run it are chill, and the prices are reasonable. If anyone here is ever in the city, that should be a must visit (and then walk over to VGNY and marvel at their insane selection and prices)

It might be 8Bit and Up I saw if they were actually on St. Marks Pl.

You guys ever been to J&L on Elizabeth in Chinatown? It's gone now of course. They had some cool imports, but of course were overpriced.

They also did mod work.

J & L is actually still around ... they moved up to 33rd I think ... just south of Bryant Park.

Their prices went up with the move though
