Yeah this is pretty much how it works. Have good prices and get ravaged/never keep anything in (esp somewhere like NY) or have insane prices and have a great selection (and occasionally sell crap but mostly sell new releases and bargain bin older games).
Not keeping anything great in is a bit dangerous, because then a lot of walk-in customers won't think you have a good selection.
7+ years ago before the old game pricing boom, a store near me was pretty much out in front of it and the ideas behind it. $12 games on eBay for $70 in store. I was basically, politely told to eff off by an employee when I tried to haggle there so that was the last time I went in there. Before that though I had talked to the owner a fair bit and he was saying that most purchases are going to be $10 or less anyway, so only have the complete garbage priced cheap, people will buy it anyway looking for something to buy. And as for competition he said it was only worth being competitive on new games prices, and crap Gamestop actively has in stock for newer games. He said that people will then perceive the store as having good prices. Judging by their google reviews and crap, they have quit even bothering with that. With older "rare/desirable" games he mentioned some blablabla about having to pay good prices to get good games in thus making him mark them really high but also mentioned that his target consumer there is essentially people that don't check online/refuse to buy online, and that what choice do those people have to get harder to find old games. Also some crap about how he felt old games had a lot of room to go up compared to eBay (which tbf, he was right about).
Basically, people are f@#&ing stupid but we already knew that.Lunar wrote:

Yeah, if they will even do it the cost might be more than just buying another PS2.Lunar wrote:
