new Thread Description
This thread was originally created to encourage traders here at GTZ to do more trading, especially retro related stuff. It has turned into a lot more and I am so grateful to everyone who contributed to this thread and have kept it going for nearly 6 months now. I hope this thread will continue to thrive and everyone who reads/participates in this thread will gain some value or knowledge out of it.

We will still have Trade lists up here, though it's been a while since anyone updated. I encourage everyone to look over their lists and post updates.
There is also a section for gorgeous pictures of game rooms that active participants of this thread have shared. Feel free to share some pics of your collection or game room.
I will be adding another section for information regarding video quality of retro gaming systems on modern displays and how to improve them.
There is rather some extensive discussion regarding how to improve the display quality of retro gaming systems and if you are new to this like I am, you will find it very informative.

Old Topic Description

GTZ has become a marketplace where the most commonly traded commodity is PayPal. I want to start an effort to get some trades going and to discuss some good games perhaps you never heard of or interested in but want to discover/know more of. For example, I just got intto shmups after years of ignoring the genre and I love to discover new(to me) and rediscover old ones(Sonic Wings comes to mind).

No pressure here. Feel free to discuss anything retro. Perhaps throw out some WTTF targets and what you have to offer. I am sick of browsing people's year old Available lists.

Some examples:

- WTTF/WTB/LF
- What you think is awesome game/series/whatever
- Potential games you have up for trade
- Pics of what you have/what you would love to get/what you think is the bestest awesomest game ever
- Show off your latest finds/adds to your collection

It's actually not a big deal to me. I like it. I like waking up knowing I will receive something in the mail. When I don't have a package, I get depressed!

I'm done with people "oh, I'm not sure what I want for my own item. Care to make an offer?"

No, I don't want to make an offer. If you don't have a clue what you want for your own fudging item, how do I know how much you want it for?

Or better yet "How much do you want to spend?"

The answer is a resounding "FREE, please"

I just click back on threads that don't have prices listed. I want to buy video games, not enter into fudging trade negotiations.

I went to gamestop earlier trade in some game and saw they had ebay cards. I was going to use my credit to buy some so I could get some TG-16 games but it didn't work. Anyone need GS credit?

Was that its MSRP or did you have some sort of membership discount or use some sort of trade-in credit?

MSRP was $40. It was $32 with GCU at BestBuy and I had a $5 certificate.

Ok folks, recommend me some of the best 80s - 00's PC RPGs. I especially would like to play some that have lots of voiced dialogue. And SSI games seeing as Buck Rogers on gen is one of my favorites. I really haven't played many PC RPGs and the 80-00 era is right in my wheelhouse.

If you love SSI Buck Rogers you should try Pool of Radiance on the PC(Nes version is decent too) I enjoyed the "Gold box" engine.

Baldur's Gate! Especially the 2nd one. They're tough as nails, but fun. Plus Minsc is a hoot.

I always recommend Baldur's Gate so I'll second that. I will add I would recommend playing the original version, not beamdog's crappy "enhanced edition". There is a good mod that lets you play the first game in the engine/graphics of the 2nd. That's what I always do. The 4 in 1 pack should still be like $10-12 new and the cheapest way to play the game. All you can buy digitally now is the ee, which breaks my heart since I don't want to give beamdog a dime. Oh well, I've got multiple physical copies of all of it.

Anyway I also recommend: Icewind Dale, Icewind Dale 2, Fallout, Fallout 2, Planescape Torment. If you want to dig a bit deeper: Arx Fatalis, Lands of Lore series (3 games), Quest for Glory series (5 games), Arcanum: Of Steamworks & Magick Obscura, Gothic, Temple of Elemental Evil.

These are predominantly later 90s to early 00s. Earlier 90s and before is a whole different ballgame. Though, Quest for Glory spans from 89 to 98 iirc. As Bighab mentioned the gold box stuff is all pretty good. They are all really cheap digitally too, put in the "forgotten realms" bundles on gog. Some are still separate though, like the Dark Sun games are together for $10 (when not on sale), Ravenloft as well.

QFG was the crap, though I'd only worry about 1-4. Most of the Sierra stuff to come out in the later 90s was garbage. QFG4 was a masterpiece though, I still consider it the pinnacle of Pre-Doom 90s PC gaming.

Can't you buy Dungeons and Dragons Anthology digitally anymore? If not that game must have skyrocketed.

Edit: Looks like its cheaper now.

@DiamondDave V is pretty divisive. But IV ends on a gosh darn cliffhanger. It's most definitely not as good as the first four, but I think it's worth a play, just to close crap out.

@GreenCard200 You mean the pack with the BGs and Icewind Dale and such? I think it's around $30-40. This is the one I think you are talking about: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dungeons-Dragons-Anthology...

There are some older collection releases, I have one of them that I got with some CIB gold box games for 50 cents each. It's this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Advanced-Dungeons-Dragons-... Oddly enough, iirc one of the floppy disc gold box releases I got is one of the three packs that's in that set. It was an older guy with a lot of stuff. Unfortunately he had already just threw out the old computer he played the stuff on, assuming no one would want it. :'(

Oh and I can't remember if it came up in this thread or another but I sold some TI-83+ on eBay that I'd been sitting on for awhile. Payment literally came from a paypal account with the email address: ebay@calculatorti.com Other offers were from obvious stores as well. It's stupid but yes, there are still people buying calculators to scalp to dumb college students.

I think it was $50-70 at some point. The collection is good because theyre made to work on Windows 7. It was only $20 at release too. I believe GOG had it for sale at one point. I'm going to try to get that other box set you linked for cheap.

Thanks for the tip on the GameStop trade-in deal. I did that today, trading
Binding of Isaac Switch
Mario Kart 8 Wii U
Michael Jackson Wii
Last of Us PS3
R & K Future: Crack in Time PS3
God of War Collection PS3
Borderlands 360
Lego Indiana Jones 360

for $75 = Mario Kart 8 DX + joy-con wheels

Those PS3 games I only paid .50 each for too. So, this was a good deal for me.

So yeah, two seven disc dvd sets each in a large hard case, not something to send in a bubble mailer. -_-
