Thread Description This thread was originally created to encourage traders here at GTZ to do more trading, especially retro related stuff. It has turned into a lot more and I am so grateful to everyone who contributed to this thread and have kept it going for nearly 6 months now. I hope this thread will continue to thrive and everyone who reads/participates in this thread will gain some value or knowledge out of it.
We will still have Trade lists up here, though it's been a while since anyone updated. I encourage everyone to look over their lists and post updates. There is also a section for gorgeous pictures of game rooms that active participants of this thread have shared. Feel free to share some pics of your collection or game room. I will be adding another section for information regarding video quality of retro gaming systems on modern displays and how to improve them. There is rather some extensive discussion regarding how to improve the display quality of retro gaming systems and if you are new to this like I am, you will find it very informative.
Old Topic Description
GTZ has become a marketplace where the most commonly traded commodity is . I want to start an effort to get some trades going and to discuss some good games perhaps you never heard of or interested in but want to discover/know more of. For example, I just got intto shmups after years of ignoring the genre and I love to discover new(to me) and rediscover old ones(Sonic Wings comes to mind).
No pressure here. Feel free to discuss anything retro. Perhaps throw out some WTTF targets and what you have to offer. I am sick of browsing people's year old Available lists.
- WTTF/WTB/LF - What you think is awesome game/series/whatever - Potential games you have up for trade - Pics of what you have/what you would love to get/what you think is the bestest awesomest game ever - Show off your latest finds/adds to your collection
Sega CD - Lords of Thunder (2/3/17) Japanese PS2 - Mushihimesama (2/15/17) Japanese Saturn - X-Men vs. Street Fighter (2/17/17) Neo Geo CD - Sonic Wings 3 (4/17/17) Red Alert (5-16-2017) Seirei Senshi Spriggan (5-17-2017) Neo Geo Heroes: Ultimate Shooting (5-19-2017) Street Fighter Alpha (6-3-2017) w/Ryu on 4 Stars
Seriously though where did you find that? Looks cool. The artist is my spirit animal, as my vintage gaming area is pretty much that messy. Though I don't quite have any consoles on the floor. The controller and wire nest is real however.
So I'm about to start buying vintage PC components off eBay and I kind of dread it. Not the prices, those I can live with. My main worry is improper packing on most of this stuff and having it arrive damaged because some trailer park queen doesn't know how to pack this stuff (not helping is that GiTS SAC 1/2 arrived with broken and crushed cases, and I was thinking any old idiot can ship dvds). Unsurprisingly the listings for this stuff are either from trailer park queens or overpriced "computer stores" that ship everything fedex. Quite a first world pickle.
I sold my Neon Switch for $380 last week simply to get my money back in the bank until I'm ready to play more Switch games, at which point I'll just buy a Switch (kept all the games, even the Pro controller). Broke even but honestly that's a good position for me to be in. Any time you can use and enjoy something and then get all your dough back when you're finished, that's the dream baby
I bought the at launch and have just been getting what I want for it a little at a time. I got lucky with half-price controllers (some locals traded in what they didn't need out of a bundle) so I've got 2 sets of Joy-cons and a pro controller to use. My personal collecting goals are maximum fun at minimum prices, and if I can help someone else out too, so much the better.
@Lunar I know you power cycle through new consoles, but I recommend just waiting until it's a price you'd want to keep it for. Plus by that time, it will probably have more really fun games. I agree there isn't much right now. Certainly when you only look at games that can't be played on other consoles.
It's fun but frankly everything out so far can be gotten elsewhere. My playthru of Zelda was on an Wii U, and I had a Switch on launch day.
Not to say it's a bad system, far from it. I love their digital selection, and that's without even having the Nintendo VC stuff yet. But honestly I'm having more fun with my 360 catching up on unbeaten games than I have been for the majority of this year with the PS4 (Persona 5 aside), Xbox One OR the Switch.
Had a cool completely unexpected experience through ebay. Bought an old sealed box of cards that was priced super cheap. Then I see the guy is about 20 miles from me. Turns out its the former owner of the comic shop I went to as a kid that closed down. He has started an online business now. He is even going to go through more unlisted old stock for me and give me first crack. ^__^
Her NES (NES??) is apparently hooked up via RF. Power adapters littered on the floor, unorganized games and consoles just fudging everywhere, food and drink scattered around, a gashapon machine on top of cardboard boxes. This hoarder girl needs a fudging intervention.
> lol, remember I had a DVDO iScan HD+ unit that was damaged? Turns out the LCD damage
> doesn't affect the unit. It works just fine!
> So does anyone want to get into RGB for super cheap?
> $30 + shipping for the unit.
> You will need a Power Supply, which I can direct you to on eBay($17), and a DVI cable(look
> in your old PC bin) to get the unit to function.
> It takes 2x RGB/YPbPr, 2x S-Video, and Composite(ew)
It's HD DVI so you don't even need an adapter you can get a cable with DVI-D on one end and HDMI on the other.
Also for anyone interested you don't really need the little LCD screen on the front. It can be nice to change settings with the display off just to save some power but any menu stuff will also be visible on w/e it's hooked up to.
I'm sure most have seen this but this dude has a lot of content available and looks like his high offer is only at 150. I already have a lot of it so I'm not that interested in paying for all but thought I'd share the deal.
I haven't been around lately but thought I'd check in before making some new trade threads. Trying to pick up more bulk lots of Saturn imports if anyone has extras or unusual titles especially. Looking for a lot of cheaper stuff but I'd love to trade for anything I can regarding that stuff. I've got my available lists up to date. Once my apartment has properly working internet I plan to be here more frequently. Hope you've all been well!
Just finished Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li, it took me 4-5 nights of 15-30 minute sessions. I couldn't take it more than that.
From the retarded story, to the million plot holes, to Chris Klein's overacting, Michael Clarke Duncan being Balrog(really?), Vega as the Spanish guy from Black Eyed Peas, Gen is Liu Kang from Mortal Kombat movies and a random club dance scene that's pretty hilarious and made no sense, if you enjoy bad movies, this is one of those really good ones.
Bison never donned his uniform, his outfit was a black suit
Gen made a small reference to Ryu, "some Japanese guy named RAIYU" at the end of the movie
This one is a real spoiler
Chun Li beats Bison at the end of the movie with a FIREBALL(wtf?!) then breaks his neck(WTFWTF?!), in front of Bison's daughter. The daughter was expressionless and we have no clue why she was being shipped in a shipping container
I guess I will go back to watching Smallville, Nash out!

The one in NYC has become somewhat self aware. Whereas they once carried a great selection of random, reasonably priced games, they no carry overpriced games that focus on the current generation of releases, with a smattering of vintage stuff.
That being said, they are still the best place in the city to pick up completely random import games.
Gotta love sore losers online, from people rage quitting(much less now since Capcom actually implemented a punishment system which should have been there in the first place), and leaving sour twinkie messages like these:
First of all, fighters online are inherently terrible because of lag as well as people like that. However I must say I am amused by people that are technical/analysis about this crap, and then get super mad when they lose to something simple. People overthink this crap so hard. JUST PLAY. It's a freaking fighting game.
I'm pretty happy with SFV's server stability. Also I hard wired the PS4 just for SFV. That guy went out of the way to send that message since you have to leave the game and type it out with a controller.
I've been getting into new fighters like the most recent KOF and Guilty Gear. However, that has, in turn, made me want to go play the old titles, lol.
Not exactly retro but is there anyone here who'd be interested in this shirt? It's the Odin Sphere PS4 storybook edition pack in, size L, and it is lightly worn. It no longer fits me since I've lost a good chunk of weight. Wanted to keep it but I see no reason to if it's huge.
> It's a weird system, feels like NOBODY likes but I know some people grew up
> on it
> Why is Conker still like $70?
. Banjo Kazooie, Tooie, Diddy Kong Racing, Ogre Battle 64, original Paper Mario, Goldeneye, Excitebike 64, 1080. And plus the coolest 30 second slice of Opera "finale" style singing in any video game ever. Haha https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJrnlFW4IMc
Anyways, N64 just doesn't really have a library that held up as well as, say, the Saturn or PS1. Alot of it's games are just kind of hard to go back to, like, ocaraina of time is great, but it runs so choppy that it's really hard to go back to, compared to say, wind waker or the 3ds remake.

The complete Collection is less than 300 games IIRC, with not enough quality games that were made better on the GameCube(Mario party) or remakes (3ds/ds) . Hardly even investing in an everdrive for the durn thing.
And don't get me started on the crap visual quality crapstorm of the damn thing.
With that being said I have 4 of them (I'm a sucker for alternate colors)
We're just getting in to PS4 (benstylus for the rally racers, me for the RPGs and stuff like Gravity Rush Remastered), and are looking for good games that may exist just off the beaten path. Same deal with Vita - I picked up a practically new PSTV for $40 the other day plus Persona 4 Dancing All Night and had a blast with P4D. Now I'm just looking for a decently priced memory card and some great games to go with it.
Not really collecting in the "gotta catch 'em all" sense, just looking to try some fun games.
> They announced their copyright infringing game a week in advance so Capcom has a
> chance to shut them down. Dummies.
I don't fudging understand this crap. Honestly. Every time it happens I'm like "WHY" and then PCGamer will post up a story with the subline "Hopefully Capcom doesn't mind." and I just wanna poke out this nonpersona's eyes out.
Looking for a White Japanese Saturn (HST-3220). This is purely aesthetic tardism since I have my Saturn next to my Dreamcast and my Duo R. PCE, Saturn, Dreamcast. Spiritual brothers. All three true must owns for fans of older Japanese gaming, imo. I would say each had the best arcade ports for their era.
I'm going to be putting together another IFU set-up. Just got the cheapest IFU off eBay from my booooi Uzimat. Seriously though can't recommend them enough. Properly tested items, well packed and usually the lowest price on eBay. This is all regarding consoles, idk about controllers or games. Probably going to sell this Core I'm getting in trade and buy a White PCE. I remember a guy on facebook I've bought from before had a bunch for $35 shipped each.
Anyone interested in this lot? The GameShark lets you play the Japanese Mario Kart, but in order to get the GS to boot, you need to load another game first(one of them will work is Bomberman 64). GS is complicated I guess, that's the only way I got it to work. It worked with a couple of other games but I don't remember which ones.
Anyway, Japanese Mario Kart, GS Pro, and Bomberman 64 for $30 shipped(that's less than the price of US Mario Kart 64!)
@Lunar Various games require different settings or some crap to actually work with codes too. You need to boot it with a game it currently works with to change the setting. Then turn the system off and put in the game you changed the setting to. It's a damn mess.
"Is there anyway I can get this for $25.75 - $26 shipped for this game? All I have is $26 and I really wanna play this with my dad before he passes, we used to play it a lot. I wish I had that extra few bucks but I don't on my card :/"
Jeepers, cheapest copy on eBay and this is the second person who randomly only has 24-26 bucks.
In case this was legitimate, my response was "My condolences." But this IS the third "Dad's dying" discount begging I've seen this year alone. I'm so cynical at this point.
Also, I destroyed my working 20GB X360 hard drive as well as the 120gb that just came in. Got a bit overzealous in deleting the huge piles of crap he had installed on it, deleted whatever tells the system it's an internal 360 drive, and THEN accidentally formatted my working 20GB as a USB drive, which kills its ability to be an internal drive, permanently.
And I mean I get it the Switch version is fancy and crap, and has online play. However when you are strapped for cash and just want to play it with your dad before he dies (I know it's a lie, but playing along here) you should probably go for any of the numerous cheaper versions.
Anyone have any Xbox 360 Slim/E 250GB system w/power cords available for trade or sale? My system's working fine (other than being hard drive-less until next week, assuming I don't kill that drive too) but it'd probably be a good idea to have a newer model as a back-up. Or an excuse to throw out the Arcade model.
Probably have some SNES/SFC titles unlisted, probably not much for PSX/PS2 but I'll post up a list later (right off the top of my head I've got Ultimate Alliance, MGS3: Subsistence and MGS Trilogy boxed available but not listed on PS2). Also have a PS2 fat available, as well as a Logitech wireless PS2 controller with receiver if I recall.
Also have US and Japanese Dreamcast system floating around. Can put a system/game bundle together for the Japanese system.
Thanks dude, SFC/SNES stuff sounds great, I have what you have on your available list now. I will get the system out and test it tonight before agreeing to anything anyways. I do love dreamcast, and my only working console is a black sega sports one I'd rather retire as a momento.
Yeah the only expensive games I own (PDS, Earthbound, maybe a few more I'm not aware of) I got when they were on retail shelves or bins; I can't imagine spending more than MSRP on a game - it'd have to be magical memory or something I just play the crap out of to justify that. I often think I should sell my expensive games, but then again they are something I'd likely never replace and the physical copies I have are memorable, a replacement down the road probably wouldn't be the same lol
Don't have enough that I can't just kinda leaf through, like you see, they're in a drawer.
Drac X fetches around $50-60 shipped, probably very close to what I'd value a 360 Slim 4GB at with a controller (I'll obviously need to invest in a hard drive separately but I don't need a controller necessarily unless you happen to have one floating about). Lemme know if you've got any ideas how you'd like to move forward. Counter-points, fighting, whatever
If you don't mind the controller mismatching I can toss in a white controller with the system + power brick, but I do have a black controller if it's a deal breaker but I love that thing I keep it with my laptop :P
I hunted for Drac XX in japan while I was there, I Was sad not to find it I had 40k yen in hand with drac x written on it, but never found a copy.
I need to get home and test the system, then we can move forward.
I also have a crap ton of 360 games I've been meaning to add to my available, if you're looking for any to go with the system.
@DiamondDave , if all of those are available, I know I'd be interested in the Nintendo Puzzle Collection and, since I somehow don't own it, Mario All-Stars. There is also a PS1 game, but it goes for a lot more than I value it at.
> NPC's gone baby, someone had PMed me interested earlier and finally asked me the

Eh, fair enough. I saw another person above offer it, so I'll enter dealings there. And I'd figured you knew about those Namco games. Both 1 and 3 got GH reprints, so they're cheap, even if ugly compared to the original cases. 2, 4, and 5, though... I'd like to find them sub-$20 each, but I'm not thinking that'll realistically happen.
Talking about the Namco collections actually brought me to this, which seems like a pretty decent assortment of titles from the Namco Museum collection. Also snagged Sonic Ultimate Genesis Collection. I think honestly once I get Sonic '06 I'm essentially "done" with the 360 games I was looking to get, other than maybe Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions, a few odds and ends here and there. Really glad I found this 360 last week. Without any current-gen systems to distract me I'm having lots of fun with it.

If Akai Katana is still like $8, buy that.
I absolutely love Mushihime-sama Futari, Espgaluda II and DDP Daifukkatsu (Resurrection) + Saidaioujou are solid. All four I would take over Akai Katana all other things being equal, but they aren't equal. I certainly doubt those four could be bought for under $100 total now, like I did admittedly two years ago when lots of sellers still had a bunch of new stock.
If you couldn't immediately tell as soon as you got control over Link that there's a quarter-to-half second latency in between inputs and screen output, I guess that's okay or you're used to it, so you can ignore that. OOT is crap but that's not what I was talking about, just the overall performance of that game, the latency and the many changes made between the N64 debut and what you're playing that are well-documented.
WW is the best non portable/home console (Link Between Worlds is phenomenal) Zelda game to be released after Link to the Past. Don't @ me. Tbf I haven't played TES: Zelda yet. I imagine that will could my opinion. I'll try the Wii U version after I'm done with Yakuza 0.
> From this link, looks like it says less lag, only one negligible change in logo and
> crisper resolution(which was immediately noticed when I compared)
I don't believe the less lag for a second. I bought it on Wii U and immediately closed and uninstalled it, I thought I was going to be sick. I actually went out and bought a physical copy of Zelda after playing the Wii U port, that's how poor it was. You missed the removal of blood, gore, symbols on shield and boxes, and a lot of other stuff; music...
They improved the framerate of the last sequence in the game (when they are talking about lag, they mean framerate), least of my worries. What's left is a lesser, input-laggy product with slightly sharper edges and a couple improved textures. Hand me a gun and put the N64 version next to a Wii U, the big black box gets the bullet every time. But that's like asking if I like peanuts in my crap.

I had it on Switch a week after the system launched, but I played it start to finish on the Wii U. It's fine. It's also a pretty excellent game. Can't easily compare it to any others in the series, but certainly the most enjoyable 3D Zelda game to date imo.
eBay trailer queens don't know how to ship, part 2*: Bought 25 vintage PC game magazines from a seller. Media mail shipping as I expected and wanted. Well they strolled on in. When I see a key in my PO box instead of a too large for locker notice my bullcrap sensor is already flaring. Sure enough, they were in a mailer. An UNPADDED mailer. It was of course torn and beat to crap. *sigh*
*part 1 was GiTS seasons being so tightly packed in a mailer that the cases shattered, I got my money back
So I bought the Capcom Humble Bundle, it came with a 50% off SFV, despite having it on PS4, I bought SFV for about $18(10% discount for having Humble Monthly, I highly recommend it) Playing some newer characters now that I get to mess with Rookies and Bronzes. Ken is super cheezy lol, come challenge me peeps!
I pulled out that 360 4gb yesterday and played some Raiden Fighters Aces on it to test everything - it made me want to have my 360 hooked up and out again for sure! I didn't have my 360 hooked up, literally had my 250gb and 4gb in a closet.
I want to transfer my saves from the 4gb to the 250, but otherwise I am good to say goodbye to the little guy.
I didn't realize until some research just now that there was a third hardware resdeisgn - the 360 E. So I have a few 360 originals (white, red ring risks, one already broken), and then these two working solid and good shape S models, but this is not the E model - to be clear. I am not sure what the benefit of the E model would be, but this is the S model
> Do you think Nintendo will release a Breath of the Wild Complete Edition(with DLC)?
When the inevitably rerelease it, sure. We're already up to Twilight Princess in terms of games that have been re-released. I bet we see a Skyward Sword on Switch and complete BotW in the far flung future
Alright, got Kirby's Dream Land 3 in today from an eBay Bucks gift code plus $14, took pictures and sold it for $80 so I've gotta bring it home tonight and beat it before I go to bed so I can ship it tomorrow... in 3 hours the journey begins. It's in my short list of games no Everdrive can play that I want to beat. And time is money, so obviously the day it came in I had to sell it immediately.

This broke my heart a little to read, due in part to Dream Land 3 being on the short list of games missing from my HAL collection (though I can play it on the Wii) and also because it's a reminder of why I don't come around here much any more.
Yeah, doesn't take much. I remember when we were doing the tourney when it first came out I had the best capture out of everyone who was running, and back then I was using a 750Ti, had a fairly smooth 60fps at 1080p.
Plus it's heavily used and from a power seller. I've always waited until games looked like they were legitimately being sold by someone who's owned it for many years and taken care of it. IE a game that hasn't passed from user to game store to user to game store.
Beat Kirby. Did the crapty ending to give me a reason to play it down the line. Cool cameos, and I like the puzzler aspects of the game, even though I didn't get a few. Sick cameo from METROID THO, felt mildly fanboy-ish smart for figuring out how I'd need to get a full clear on that stage as soon as I saw the icon for the target for the stage.
It turns out some guy recently bought all those $32 NIB copies of I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream and as of yesterday is selling them for $125. He has over 600 copies, so of course he's trying to get Ebay prices. Christ, hopefully he dies with them.

I wish the same. I really dislike when people do things like that. Just out of curiosity, I looked it up and if I'm looking correctly, it's on different digital platforms for $5.99 & less and some physical copies (though not the same) are close to that $30+ range or a little higher so I don't understand why they think anyone is willing to pay that much. Also if it was on Ebay, they may have removed their listing because I don't see it.
so oddly enough the last ps3 I needed as far as my list goes for my personal ps3 list to be "done" was Dragon age 2, (as ive decided to just worry about class of heroes 2 on psp/vita as its way cheaper unless I just happen upon a great deal) which id had in the past as well. found one on amazon today listed very good for 6 bucks shipped thanks to fulfillment by amazon so that's another system I am "finished" for as far as my collection list goes.
Gamecube and PS3 down. under 20 on everything but ps4, vita and ps1, which is close to 20, and in single digits on another half dozen or so systems! by this time next year I hope to be just worrying about current gen and guides if I decide to continue collecting those for my rpgs, I guess im old I still like a nice guide, though I guess I could be looking at the art online and looking up the info I need. still though a nice book with big pretty maps and art is nice.
@Gypsy thanks for the site I wasn't familiar with that one. ya really nice to hit those, to make it feasible I had to limit it to games and series I like and things I know I will at some point want to play, and 5th gen and up mostly.
@lunar ya they do, price and space savings since space is a concern for me is another reason I love digital when those sales are really hitting.
super special thanks to @Missile for a sweet hook up on that ps3 class of heroes!! now I really do think ive got ps3 finished up collection list wise. there may be a game or two out there I missed back then I may want to go back and play at some point but my personal list of what I want to have is done! yay!
> Raiden IV, Raiden Fighter Aces, Akai Katana, Deathsmiles,...
Is where my library ends (I have some craptier ones too though, not listed above) But I don't have the others.. Are any of those under $30? I might start shopping and pick up a new one to play. 360 is the only system I have a wireless arcade stick for, it was pretty nice sitting on my couch playing Raiden Fighters Aces with an arcade stick on my 60" plasma 15 feet away. 9/10 times I am at a coffeetable sandwiched up to the tv, or a desk, when I play shooters on any other system - 360 is freedom thanks to the tekken 7 stick :P
Unfortunately not anymore. I paid $100 total (so about $25 each shipping included) for Esp, Mushi and the DDPs but this was two years ago when Japanese sellers still had tons of new stock for the platinum hits versions (pretty sure I have plat hits for the three Japanese games) and new copies were cheaper than used, no joke. All Daifukkatsu versions are region locked for the JP release, but there is a region free EU release. The only game in the series that saw a release outside of Japan I think.
Current prices on all these are between $40-50 I think.
The Bullet Soul games are even pricier, I sold my copies to @dunno001 recently. I paid $30 for Eschatos not that long ago though, so maybe on that one?
>> Buy 4 games under $5 for $10 on Gamestop.com right now. About 10 games went out
>> stock in my cart as I was adding games, so good stuff is going fast. TONS of Wii
> I see Akai Katana, Otomedius...
Got those, buying tons of dumb Wii games now. This is probably one of the last blowouts we'll get. Gamestop doesn't seem to want to price games below $3 anymore. Jerry Rice & Nitus' Dog Football is part of the sale!
