Thread Description This thread was originally created to encourage traders here at GTZ to do more trading, especially retro related stuff. It has turned into a lot more and I am so grateful to everyone who contributed to this thread and have kept it going for nearly 6 months now. I hope this thread will continue to thrive and everyone who reads/participates in this thread will gain some value or knowledge out of it.
We will still have Trade lists up here, though it's been a while since anyone updated. I encourage everyone to look over their lists and post updates. There is also a section for gorgeous pictures of game rooms that active participants of this thread have shared. Feel free to share some pics of your collection or game room. I will be adding another section for information regarding video quality of retro gaming systems on modern displays and how to improve them. There is rather some extensive discussion regarding how to improve the display quality of retro gaming systems and if you are new to this like I am, you will find it very informative.
Old Topic Description
GTZ has become a marketplace where the most commonly traded commodity is . I want to start an effort to get some trades going and to discuss some good games perhaps you never heard of or interested in but want to discover/know more of. For example, I just got intto shmups after years of ignoring the genre and I love to discover new(to me) and rediscover old ones(Sonic Wings comes to mind).
No pressure here. Feel free to discuss anything retro. Perhaps throw out some WTTF targets and what you have to offer. I am sick of browsing people's year old Available lists.
- WTTF/WTB/LF - What you think is awesome game/series/whatever - Potential games you have up for trade - Pics of what you have/what you would love to get/what you think is the bestest awesomest game ever - Show off your latest finds/adds to your collection
Sega CD - Lords of Thunder (2/3/17) Japanese PS2 - Mushihimesama (2/15/17) Japanese Saturn - X-Men vs. Street Fighter (2/17/17) Neo Geo CD - Sonic Wings 3 (4/17/17) Red Alert (5-16-2017) Seirei Senshi Spriggan (5-17-2017) Neo Geo Heroes: Ultimate Shooting (5-19-2017) Street Fighter Alpha (6-3-2017) w/Ryu on 4 Stars
> Told ya! Honestly for $70 some shipped, you prob got like 10 games and 2 controllers?
> After shipping and fees, seller is netting what $40?
> Xbox 360 has been hard to sell for more than couple years now.
Yeah. I knew a local store did some promos so I checked their facebook. Last sale on 360s (and they don't even take in old models) was $50 for the system with hooks + controller and three free games of your choosing from a selection of titles.
Bullet Witch is awful. I remember buying it when I was poor and it was the cheapest 360 game Gamestop had. But my tastes have evolved to love bad games and people here me because I don't think Uncharted 4 is the best so maybe I'd like it now.
oh no, gypsy, why?! why didn't I research?! I love tactical games, and only have disgaea on the two systems, so I figured I'd check these out. And I hoped Red was the same beloved devs as the PCE crew, which is probably ignorant and very wrong.
The star trek game I randomly got, also without research, actually looks pretty good it's like a space rts, wii mote as a mouse... who woulda thought?!
@Gredler Maybe you can trooper along further than I did. They are extremely grindy. In fact iirc there is experience pack DLC, and of course overpowered items DLC. XD
And yeah the game is also Idea Factory and Compile Heart, so that should give you an idea if you've played any of their recent stuff. Or their PSP stuff. In fact in Spectral Force 3 (360 game) I so borked my game that I had to restart.
> Post when you guys get these. Let's see who wins the case and manual lottery
Not related but I already feel like I won the lottery with the Tekken 7 for PS4 I got through Amazon Prime Day for $1.86 after a promotion credit and gift cards. $39.99 sale - $10.00 (from promotion for 1st time using Prime video on PS4) - $30 (from cashing out my My Coke Rewards points when it shut down) + 1.87 (tax) = $1.86 + $10 Prime Now future credit (For having them not rush shipping) Everything perfectly fell in line.
Some PS3 game trades are going to look like this later if not already for stuff earlier in the life span of the console. And of course, current gen stuff will look out of wack years down the road. But yeah, funny.
Ended up going with: BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger Enchanted Arms Infinite Undiscovery Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten Halo 4 Castlevania: Judgment Heavenly Sword Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom Crysis 2 Green Day: Rock Band I had: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles (Until sold out while adding things to cart) Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 and Akai Katana (which removed themselves from my cart during confirmation) -_- Let's see how things go.

CeX does it too, which is crazy because they sell games as low as $0.01 and they all come in at least a third party case. I put in one big order with them and threw basically all the $0.01 and $0.05 games in to see what would happen and got a whole bunch of packages with a total value less than a quarter.
@PlayYing If you haven't played Last Story, depending on what else you have on tap, I'd prioritize it. I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. I also felt it was the best of the op rainfall games. Don't @ me about that anyone. :p
Anyone here have any version PS3 for trade? I'm looking to finally get a PS3 so I can play all of the Yakuza series (primarily). Can't really spend much on one but I'd love to trade if anyone is up for it. CML and let me know or PM. :)
> ...Crap, I forgot to buy Sonic '06 at Gamestop. CRAP.
> Well, I'll hit the bus up tomorrow morning and scope out the HPBs and Gamestops and
> Disc Replays.
Would you believe Sonic '06 is a rare fudging game in my neck of town? I'm about to have to take a bus ten miles out, then another two out possibly, to track this fudging thing down. The last stop will absolutely have it, but fudge, dude
So recently I had two eBay sellers never mark as shipped. I got one item today pretty fast. I was actually about to message them about why they hadn't shipped... It was priority and had tracking. Had an online label too so it's not like they paid at the post office and forgot to mark as shipped on eBay. Wtf.
The 2nd seller I had to ask. Also that package is coming UPS when I asked them to send USPS... I fully expect that item (old motherboard) to arrive in 1 million pieces.
My local game store got burgled. Thieves smashed a window with a rock, attempted and failed to smash the display case (but it was open from the back, this isn't a jewelery store), then made off with a Wii U console only and a 360. Crazy. The owner is happy they forgot to take anything valuable and had a 30% off "doorbuster" sale today, wooo.
I'm getting triggered at the amount of horizontal tearing in PS3 ports of games. Sonic Unleashed is tons better on 360, as is Asura's Wrath (still need to snag that on Xbox 360 to play through at some point). Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions has tons of tearing, I'll probably abandon playing that on PS3 to play on PC instead. That was the biggest reason I wasn't hunting for Sonic '06 on PS3, I had to assume it would make a dumpy game even more dumpy.
So I'm starting to get into retro PC RPGs, did I mention this here already? Sorry if I did. Just quickie, one of my favorites on DS is Orcs Vs. Elves which is a 1st person rogue like where monsters only move when you move. It's a short but fun game that reminds me of 90s PC gaming and the 3DO era. So One of the series I'm thinking about trying is Might & Magic. The PC games that are 1st person RPG games. It almost looks like these games are what Orcs Vs. Elves was inspired by. And anything else around that era that are really good PC RPGs. Gold Box SSRI games, Ultima VII. .
These are the style of games that I sorely skipped over. Any favorites?
> Just played some Tekken 2, god. It's a Virtua Fighter clone. Tekken 3 is SUCH a big
Tekken 3 and tag tournament were amazing and still my fav fighters ever. I need to play 4-7, kinda drifted away from fighters after those for a long time. My brother and I had matches on those games that made the scenes in the matrix look like amateur hour lol. The team battle mode 8v8.. wow the stories lol. I still rrmember my lineup :P

Yeah the PS3 kinda sucks man. I put up with it because it had a lot of exclusives and I buy used a lot so it was tons easier to find a PS3 disc in good condition compared to 360 due to the mandatory anti-scratch coating on .
> At least he has a sense of humor about it. And what kind of dipcraps rob a game store

The kind of person dumb enough to rob a store in the first place. I hope they get caught and go to jail.

Same..I usually chose 360 during that era for most games that came on both but still had more ps3 games probably for the rpg exclusives. I find I'm back to ps4 this gen but the one x could change that for multiplatform gams
PS2s are finnicky pieces of crap. All I can say is to play and enjoy games on it while you can. Also it's a good thing that they are cheap, and lasers are readily available. Plus it's very easy to set it up to play games from an hdd. The one I'm using right now is probably on it's way out, but I'm gonna ride it till the laser dies.

Yeah, Tekken is one of my favorite fighting. I probably should play some of the older ones again. Also Have you played Tekken Tag Tournament 2? I didn't see it listed.
I was actually playing Tekken 7 earlier, just got it yesterday so I've only tried the Mishima story. It's a nice story so far & it's covering and filling in a good amount of the details of the family's story from throughout the series with a nice blend of flashbacks and current story. One of my only problems is they force you to play as Heihachi for part of it and he has never really been one of the characters I like playing with. Which is part of the reason I'm stuck right now, that and the opponent is a beast. I probably just need to get used to the controls. Also, Akuma's interesting as well. His character uses elements from Street Fighter which takes some getting used to.
Interestingly, I thought I had a version of all the Tekken (or related) games (except Street Fighter X Tekken) but ironically the games you two were talking about, Tekken 2 & Tekken 3, are the games I'm missing. Must have remember played them (Tekken 3 at least) at the arcade.
>> As long as the drive is in good shape, you should have a lot better load times.

Very likely what is wrong and taking it apart and cleaning the lens can help. I got my Japanese PS2 from won't read CDs at all to reads them sometimes which is enough for me to not bother replacing the laser yet.
@ErickRPG Cool, I'll check it out some time. Sounds like a cheapy too.
I ordered 100 and threw in some dvds too since they use fedex and charge actual shipping. They sell gold ones too, but the price kind of kills the point.
For anyone wondering, PCE CD and Sega CD were both designed for older cds. I think a lot of Sega CD games were on 500mb cds. 650mb I think was the max cd spec of the time that PCE CD came out. Sat/PS1 were more 650mb cds for games. So using high quality 650mb cdrs (and burning on slow speed) is probably going to lead to a smoother experience. I bought some because I had some issues with some PCE games on a system that has zero issues with retail discs.
That'll probably be one I emulate to beat, but I've got a huuuuuge incoming backlog on Xbox 360. I plan on going through... a good portion of the games in the Sonic Ultimate Genesis collection by the end of next year if I can stay focused. I'm already planning that far ahead with the 360 lol
I remember when I picked that up from Target brand new online for $25 when PSX was still rolling. Probably got traded in for $4 at some point
> Traded Tag 2 and SF x Tekken to the other huge Tekken enthusiast on here
> I still have Tekken Hybrid if anyone is interested.
> I was playing SF x Tekken the other day, I random got off some huge special, wayyyy
> over the top. It looked cool though.
Yeah that was part of the reason I didn't get Street Fighter x Tekken it was made more in the Street Fighter style. Was hoping for Tekken x Street Fighter which would have been made more in the Tekken style but that seems to be in limbo for now. Though apparently the "polygon models and other gameplay systems had been completed" but seem like they are waiting for the "perfect opportunity" to release it. So I guess Akuma in Tekken is the only taste of Street Fighter in Tekken we will get for now.
Also did someone buy Tekken 2 & Tekken 3 from you earlier?
> |>> If anyone cares, I found a company that still makes and sells high quality 650MB
> |>> cdrs.
>> Is this a fudging interest check
> Lol no. Do you really think I'd try to scalp already overpriced cdrs?
> I was gonna link if anyone wanted them but I wasn't going to bother otherwise.
I meant just post the link rather than ask if anyone cares > What are we gonna do, you for the info? Unrelated, I just bought a PS2 mod chip for $1.50 shipped on Ebay. gosh darn I love living in the future.
Anyone here looking to pickup a 32x and some games for it? I'm debating trading off our very small 32x selection and unit if the right trade comes around. I don't use it much and, though I still have to see if I like it better, I think I may want to use my X'eye on its own without the 32x plopped on top. If anyone reading this is curious or has questions check the stuff in my collection listings or shoot me a pm.
Love the tekken talk. I've been away from the series since tag tourney. Need to play tekken 4 on from there but I booted up a little 7 tonight just to see where they have taken it and it's def different. Sad to see so few of my fav characters still there or changed so much but I'm sure had I played all the others I'd be ready for something fresh. I haven't played many fighters the last 15 years or so, but played hundreds of hours of tekKen 3 and tag, was nigh unbeatable amongst the local group. Won a tag tourney tournament at a hastings by miles once, now this one kicked my ass for a few mins til I stopped ttying to play it like it was those from way back. Interested to get caught up and spend some more time with this one.
Fighters seem to be hitting a resurgence for me. Its been a long long time since there were so many i was interested in
>> Also did someone buy Tekken 2 & Tekken 3 from you earlier?
> Yes, those are gone
lol Just my luck. I dozed off for a bit after my first post. I'll get them eventually, though. Main reasons I didn't take a chance at getting Tekken 3 through GameStop was being worried about it being complete or being black label. Maybe I should have gambled though.

Yeah, I have to agree with you on Tekken 7. The style is definitely different & getting used to the new fighting style will be interesting. This year definitely feels like the return of fighting games to the spotlight.

I have tag tourney 2 but haven't played it. I loved the first one. Tekken 3 and tag tournament 1 are probably my all time top fighters. Lei and Nina are my faves..so I'm very sad to see Lei not in this one.
I have only tried the Mishima story as well, and have gotten stuck a time or two with unfamiliar characters for a bit but I used to play some Heihachi in team battle, he was typically my lead off hitter he's such a bruiser i could usually take at least one guy out so I'm familiar enough with him. Apparently counters aren't in this one and I keep taking kicks to the head thinking I'm gonna counter like in those old ones lol. I can tell there is a lot of story between the old and now alot has apparently happened iam lost on the current stuff.
Akuma is cool, it gives you an idea of what tekken x sf might have been like...I'm still hopeful they do that one someday. I have st x tekken but haven't played it yet. I've got all the Tekkens I may start playing through them a little at a time during the evenings when i don't have time for long games.
Once we learn to play we will have to play a match or two lol. Too bad tram battle isn't a thing in this unless I missed it. I still remember my old lineup
Heihachi Law Paul Jin Nina Hwaorang Yoshimitsu Lei
Add me tonymack21 if you wanna play sometime
This bonus chapter boss is cheap af..I can barely touch him even on easy...
Ya that will be cool. He will probably be as cheap as akuma but we will see.
I kinda take it back about the less I like it. Getting into the other game modes it's starting to feel more like tekken again.. story makes you use the same charcaters alot so you don't get as good a feel. HeihacHi is just so slowing makes the game feel slow
Random, but still relevant question for this particular subsection of the site ... has anyone here messed around on the AssemblerGames forums, and, more importantly, has anyone had luck trading/selling there?

It was from an email they sent out if you subscribe to ataribox.com, a mystery box we knew nothing about until today.
Our objective is to create a new product that stays true to our heritage while appealing to both old and new fans of Atari.
Inspired by classic Atari design elements (such as the iconic use of wood, ribbed lines, and raised back); we are creating a smooth design, with ribs that flow seamlessly all around the body of the product, a front panel that can be either wood or glass, a front facing logo, indicator lights that glow through the material, and an array of new ports (HDMI, 4xUSB, SD). We intend to release two editions: a wood edition, and a black/red edition.
As you can guess, those ports suggest modern internal specs. It also means that while we will be delivering classic gaming content, we will also be delivering current gaming content.
We know you are hungry for more details; on specs, games, features, pricing, timing etc. We're not teasing you intentionally; we want to get this right, so we've opted to share things step by step as we bring Ataribox to life, and to listen closely to Atari community feedback as we do so. There are a lot of milestones, challenges and decision points in front of us in the months ahead. We'll be giving you lots more information and status updates as we progress, and we are thrilled to have you along for the ride!
Hope you like where we are taking this, we'll be in touch soon.
I'm wary after the Colecovision/Retro VGS bullcrap, but maybe this will be handled properly (and by that I mean not demoing your "system" by shoving an SNES Jr. and flash cart with SNES ROMs inside of a Jaguar shell at a major gaming convention and taking photos of a PC capture card to showcase your "prototype" mainboard)
Got another wordless cancellation on an item on eBay, decided this time I would leave appropriately neutral feedback instead of not scoring the transaction.
"Seller revoked sale without any message, was probably sold elsewhere."
Here's what I got back:
yea it was sold elsewhere and i gave you a full refund what more do you want? 1 negative feedback and 1 neutral on mine for 2 items i never sold and gave full refunds. you guys are a joke really, you know i did you a favor cause you can get a new one on ebay for 45 at the lowest you paid 50 for a used one. And the item had a slight scratch on it which wasnt disclosed in the item description. i am sorry for your huge inconvenience. like i mean theres only 1000 ppl selling these things for around 50 i gave you a full refund you simply could have bought off another buyer. all my actual SOLD ITEMS ALL GOT POSITIVE FEEDBACK like seriously hope you enjoy your refund cause i got nothing out of this transaction just lowered scores thanks for that
Man, I'm glad he did me such a solid. And the revelation of an undisclosed defect on a "like new" product, good catch seller. The way he's talking it sounds like I wasn't alone, and the other guy gave him a negative instead of a neutral, so I'm not sure why I'm the one he went off on. Oh well.
Edit: After looking, it actually looks like he asked the other buyer afterwards to give him more money because Paypal took a fee out (different item but related). So that was certainly deserving of negative feedback. I sent a mildly spicy message back to him so if I end up dead within the next year, look to Canada.
He's not understanding that $50CAD shipped worked out to just over $30 for a boxed like new (WITH A SCRATCH APPARENTLY) NES Classic first party controller, so no, that was a pretty good deal for me, and yeah, I was miffed when he cancelled it without so much as a howd'ya do.

His slowness and the fact you have to fight as him so many times is my only issue with their story mode. Finally beat Mishima Chapter 13. On the 4th and final battle of Chapter 14 and this is intense. I hate that the computer/AI characters like to spam at times especially when you are starting to get the upper hand during this story mode. I also tried a few of the other characters they are much faster.
As for characters I like playing alot of those from your list especially Forest/Marshall Law & sometimes Jin which are usually my main. I also like playing as Alisa and few other characters as well on the newer games.
> Yes wish they would have worked those character episodes in there to break it up

I wish they had broke it up like that but I guess I can see their point in not putting it since it was the family's story. I'm trying to do story on casual but that finally battle is a bit of a pain, it seems like he senses he's about to lose and pulls things out of nowhere. Also I just mess up and left that battle and went back & it started the 1st round again. -_- So, I'm taking a break. Does online matches require a PS+ for this game? I know for some games it does not.

I am not sure about the ps plus.
As far as that cheap final battle , I am assume you mean against ....not really a spoiler I guess but still.
that bastard akuma lol where you play as devil kazuya
Try to use the L1 +X kick when you can..it closes distance and takes him off his feet if it hits..of not maybe..MAYBE he doesn't uppercut you into the air..and you can start the casual combo...sadly it starts with a short range uppercut but also it starts with a short range uppercut lol so you can trigger a combo that ends with you slamming him down so he's off his feet again. The three fireballs, the yellow ones after he charges up..usually always come in three and are easy to side step..just keep sidestepping. Take your chances to get him off his feet. Try to duck under that charge up lunge punch that he uses alot to stun you for a combo...the cheap unlockable one..you know it lol. It follows you I'd you sidestepping but you can duck it..it's fast so it's hard. Try not to take fireball damage...it's minimal of you block but it adds up. If he gets you to rage and you can connect it will even the score depending on where you have his health. Once you are getting him down to about a quarter you know you are figuring it out. It took me several fights to even get him to half. Once you get him really low he gets desperate, even on easy, just stay with your plan. I swear M bison was easier on Sf2 when I was a kid lol.
>> Don't be a tease and share your "mildly spicy message" with the group.

Sorry, I fried my wall outlet last night plugging in my Xbox 360 to test it out and had to re-arrange the bedroom to set up a temporary entertainment center so I could clear a path for Maintenance to work on it while I'm out today. Anywho:
"Communication would have been appropriate instead of wordlessly cancelling the order. Of course, after reading that wall of sad, I'm not convinced that would have been wise after all.
Looks like you deserved the negative for multiple reasons. Enjoy! At least I got a good laugh in the end."
you likely would have left negative feedback anyways since you seem like a douchebag overall
i got negative cause i didnt sell my NES mini for 220 and i got neutral cause i didnt sell my nes controller for 50
you guys are just so butthurt all you can do is be negative or neutral a positive person would just take the refund and buy elsewhere
honestly you got your money back so the only thing you didnt get was the product so instead you guys whine and complain
you got a negative on yours for not shipping an item too like really?? so its ok for you but not ok for me? ok bud
please just try thinking it might help
"You can clearly see all the feedback I have ever left, lol. And unlike you, I did notify, which was noted." (I ALSO APOLOGIZED)
They still were unhappy as are you and the other buyer. It's mostly negative for me I'm sorry I just want to move forward now ok. No worries, I know now to contact buyers. I didn't do my due diligence. Thanks for ur feedback I'm trying to learn as I go.
I'm sorry ok we can't change the past anyway, hope ur ok. I'm done arguing for today. Sorry
I'm pretty lucky that in ten plus years, international and otherwise, never had to make a claim. Had one package come to me thrashed but that was the worst of it, and eBay covered me as a buyer so that was fine.
> Well crap, I guess I pay $25 for their DVD case then.
Have you seen what Shovel Knight for Vita currently sells for? In spite of other physical versions too. I'm not saying to invest your life savings, but for anyone that wants to try the game or likes it and wants a physical, I don't think it's a bad purchase at all.
Don't get me wrong, Undertale's a lovely game, but $10's about where I'd cap it. Physical for $25's a bit ludicrous to me. Ducktales Remastered was a licensed release and even that was what... $15, 20 max?
If it was that or nothing, I'll take this. In Japan they can probably get away with selling the OVA by itself for buko bucks; here, that doesn't fly anymore. And I'm positive Kadokawa was like "This needs to be premium priced, period" because this is pretty much their gem accomplishment.
I think less people were importing it in 2006. At least in 1999 it was fresh. Lol. Basically it was just something cheap and Japanese for me to collect for. Shoulda picked something like PC-FX in hindsight.
I cannot play SFV on PS4 anymore! After playing for a good bit on PC, it just runs much smoother than PS4 and loads much faster. MY GPU is several years old too(Radeon R9 280 3GB), but I put in way tooo much RAM for my own good (I like to open Chrome tabs and leave them open lol)
@Lunar lol, I will get a list when I decide what to keep and what im gonna let go. I am going to have to make some decisions about what im going to physically collect and what im ever going to be able to play, as my collection rule for myself is it has to be something I will play at some point, but im running out of space and time is at a premium and there are so many games out now I just don't know how much I will get back to certain things and I doubt i'll ever play certain things again, too many games I haven't played to replay something I have in many cases, the exception will prob always be ff7, i'll probably always play that one every few years or so. I had decided I was going to do ps1 gen and forward but I may have to change that to ps2 and up as far as collecting goes, and digital the ps1 and older.
