new Thread Description
This thread was originally created to encourage traders here at GTZ to do more trading, especially retro related stuff. It has turned into a lot more and I am so grateful to everyone who contributed to this thread and have kept it going for nearly 6 months now. I hope this thread will continue to thrive and everyone who reads/participates in this thread will gain some value or knowledge out of it.

We will still have Trade lists up here, though it's been a while since anyone updated. I encourage everyone to look over their lists and post updates.
There is also a section for gorgeous pictures of game rooms that active participants of this thread have shared. Feel free to share some pics of your collection or game room.
I will be adding another section for information regarding video quality of retro gaming systems on modern displays and how to improve them.
There is rather some extensive discussion regarding how to improve the display quality of retro gaming systems and if you are new to this like I am, you will find it very informative.

Old Topic Description

GTZ has become a marketplace where the most commonly traded commodity is PayPal. I want to start an effort to get some trades going and to discuss some good games perhaps you never heard of or interested in but want to discover/know more of. For example, I just got intto shmups after years of ignoring the genre and I love to discover new(to me) and rediscover old ones(Sonic Wings comes to mind).

No pressure here. Feel free to discuss anything retro. Perhaps throw out some WTTF targets and what you have to offer. I am sick of browsing people's year old Available lists.

Some examples:

- WTTF/WTB/LF
- What you think is awesome game/series/whatever
- Potential games you have up for trade
- Pics of what you have/what you would love to get/what you think is the bestest awesomest game ever
- Show off your latest finds/adds to your collection

Far as I know it acts like Ground, except they let USPS handle the last leg of the delivery, so they just dump 80 billion packages in the local USPS location and let them deliver it all. But this UPS location's about a block away, the USPS office is literally across the street, so I'm guessing UPS was like "Eh fudge it, it's just two packages, we'll drop them off on the regular truck". Generally if they've got a lot of stuff to drop off it all goes to the post office anyways, must just be a slow day for USPS injection.

In this case most of the wait was me holding my breath to see if they would actually accept the order since it errored out right at the end of the checkout, after it was confirmed it was only about a 2-3 day turnover. I can certainly live with that, even if it didn't get delivered until tomorrow through the post office, no big deal.

My DS collection has been complete for a while but I traded those 3 games before I actually ever played them for whatever reason. Super excited to get them back as I've actually been working through the backlog recently. Finished Metroid II and Link's Awakening, now wrapping up Act 3 in Pillars of Eternity...all great games.

Thanks, but really if @Gypsy wants them I'm certainly fine with holding off. I have plenty of things to play and can grab those down the road or maybe even when he's done with them.

You said it, that was the best recommendation for me for sure, I really love that game. Can't wait for the sequel. Actually, I discovered "Critical Role" on YouTube a few months ago and picked up on the voice actors from the show in that game pretty quick. Kind of a neat synergy there.

This is a very accurate observation, as it appears I may have already missed out on a couple games I had my eye on cuz I couldn't respond in between meetings.

Mine is pretty quiet and I've had it since they first came out. Might just be a bad fan bearing which is very common on electronic devices in general.

I picked this one up from Wally World on Black Friday for $60 or so. It's all glass shelves, semi-articulating arm stand and free shipping. Took me a long time to find one in the style I wanted too, it supports up to 60" TV I believe. Mine is a 43" LG 3D model.

That is the one, but normal retail is like $129 and on sale it's $99, black friday was $60-70 depending on stock levels. And yes it does get dusty but I prefer it to all the enclosed ones I looked through. Kids do the dusting anyway so I'm good for another decade at least. :)

@DiamondDave Classic, although I remember this one taking me longer than normal to finish. When renting games back then, for a single night, it was a must to complete them in a single rental so you could get a different game next time. I rented this one 3 times, only game I ever had to rent more than once.

My folks were always more keen to rent than buy, just made more sense than shelling out $50 in the 80's for a "game". Didn't really have too many games growing up that I owned but we had to cherish each one because it was rare to buy and when you drop that much money you loved that game even if it was Renegade and Bayou Billy. Renting was what most of us did and how we got to experience most games back then.

Now we're like "HAVE ALL MY $60, I'LL SPEND ANOTHER $50 ON DLC WITHOUT BLINKING BRUH"

Though technically $60 was a looooot more money back in the 90s. All these games have depreciated terribly, even a lot of the "more expensive" titles. Solomon's Key at this price would have been about $13 on a shelf when this game came out.
FrictionPin

It's funny to see how the price of games has changed and not changed over the years right. Atari games were what, like $25-30 before the crash and $2-10 after. Then Nintendo jumps in a $50, it's really interesting that we're at basically the same price for games on current gen...at least for the suggested retail price in the first month or so. :) After a couple months pass, we're back at Atari prices.

I mean, what else retails for basically the same price that it did 30 years ago besides new video games?
