new Thread Description
This thread was originally created to encourage traders here at GTZ to do more trading, especially retro related stuff. It has turned into a lot more and I am so grateful to everyone who contributed to this thread and have kept it going for nearly 6 months now. I hope this thread will continue to thrive and everyone who reads/participates in this thread will gain some value or knowledge out of it.

We will still have Trade lists up here, though it's been a while since anyone updated. I encourage everyone to look over their lists and post updates.
There is also a section for gorgeous pictures of game rooms that active participants of this thread have shared. Feel free to share some pics of your collection or game room.
I will be adding another section for information regarding video quality of retro gaming systems on modern displays and how to improve them.
There is rather some extensive discussion regarding how to improve the display quality of retro gaming systems and if you are new to this like I am, you will find it very informative.

Old Topic Description

GTZ has become a marketplace where the most commonly traded commodity is PayPal. I want to start an effort to get some trades going and to discuss some good games perhaps you never heard of or interested in but want to discover/know more of. For example, I just got intto shmups after years of ignoring the genre and I love to discover new(to me) and rediscover old ones(Sonic Wings comes to mind).

No pressure here. Feel free to discuss anything retro. Perhaps throw out some WTTF targets and what you have to offer. I am sick of browsing people's year old Available lists.

Some examples:

- WTTF/WTB/LF
- What you think is awesome game/series/whatever
- Potential games you have up for trade
- Pics of what you have/what you would love to get/what you think is the bestest awesomest game ever
- Show off your latest finds/adds to your collection

If a seller has obo on eBay and they won't even take a dollar off, what's the point? I feel like this has been brought up here before, but it happened to me again so I wanted to dog. $6 + shipping item and I offered $5 just because I could really.

It's probably that big link at the top right that says "Purchase Plug n Play 2.0"

Lol, yesterday someone was trying to sell a $30 game for $46. Made an offer for $32 and they countered with $45.

I might get the 2DS XL then. I never use the 3D on my 3DS and the 2DS looks way better for travel, which is what I use my 3DS for most anyway.

It's super nice not having to worry so much about scratching the case. That case was made to travel. I didn't travel much with it before letting it loose but that was a system I felt like I could safely sling around without a care.

2DS XL is much lighter, it also feels safe not using a exterior case. The top screen has bezel that look just like a smartphone.

From what I read, specs should be exactly the same minus 3D gimmick of course.

You are also able to neatly tuck away the cartridge slot instead of leaving it exposed if you don't have a cart in.

HUGE bonus, you no longer have to take off the faceplates to put in a micro SD card(who the fudge made the decision to put it UNDER the faceplates?)

Just went through two playthroughs of Super Famicom Final Fight. Can you guys beat it? The bosses are harder than i remembered. They also do alot more damage i feel like.

I feel like this game is so unbalanced compared to Final Fight CD...Mike is almost unplayable given how slow he is.

This item is a good price already I guess. But the case is broken, so what is it REALLY worth? And it's a unique case so I'd have to orphan something else to replace it.

If I hadn't already hacked my N3DS I'd consider selling it and picking up a 2DSXL.

You probably won't have a problem. Between the 3DS systems and Wii U I think I easily did at least 3 system transfers this year, you HAVE to be being bad to get slapped. I bet you'll be fine. And if you have both systems, you can transfer no problem regardless I believe, should only be a week delay in between system transfers.

Nah, it's slightly shorter on both the top and bottom as you can see in Lunar's comparison shot. Screens themselves, display-wise, are identical, but space clipped off at least on the horizontal edges.

That thing probably won't fit.

totally forgot about the amount of digital stuff I have on my 3DS account

Used to be I'll have random amount of eShop credit on the account for random impulse buys but now the Switch shares the eShop, I doubt I'd randomly buy 3DS games anymore

Not having a 3DS, this is sounding like a good option to look into. How much shorter does the battery life seem (I see that's one of the things that people are talking about on other sites)? Also how's the sound (some said this was weaker) & the stylus (looks shorter in some of the comparison picture)?

Haven't tested out the battery life yet but I don't suspect it to be wildly different.
Stylus on the 2DS XL is shorter, though I did notice but I don't think it impacts much.

Lastly the sound, I noticed vibrations coming from the back of the system while holding the system in my hand.
Sound seems louder than 3DS XL. I guess since it's much lighter material, the sound's vibration is noticeable.
I'll just think of it as free rumble feature!

I have brought this up before but the one I pre-ordered (both are called GCVideo) is from another vendor who has yet to get a single unit produced, has poor communication and terrible customer service so yeah, there's that. Anyway, the one you referenced here is 2.0, the first edition's main issue was the stress it put on the digital port of the cube itself. 2.0 has a more durable case but still doesn't feel super secure in the port from the people I've spoken to who have had it in hand.

There also was a video posted last week from a very large gaming youtuber reviewing this thing and sales went through the roof. So much so the seller made a video the same day saying he was doubling production to 12 units a day until he gets caught up again. One guy, building them by hand, if you want one it might make sense to get on the waiting list soon.

This was my first SNES game (besides Mario that came with it). I've played this game so many times I'm sure I could still beat it today. I will admit it took me a few months before I could consistently get past Abigail. I personally always used Haggar and his pile drive.

Yea, I lost all my continues at Abigail. Gonna try the US version and see if they corrected any of the imbalances.

Earlier this evening I was talking to my son about genre of games he likes and was having trouble coming up with good examples of things for him to try out. So I fired up the database application I wrote to organize my game collection and ran some reports for specific genres to help him out. While I was doing that, I though it might be fun to build a few new stats into the system that would give some insight about my collection. It was pretty neat and somewhat surprising when I looked over the results, figured I'd share them for here...

I haven't played Under Night In-Birth so I don't know about it's characters but I'm very excited about the other series and can't wait to see what characters they will choose from each. Most interested in the RWBY characters. I love crossovers especially fighters. grin

I wonder what my percentage is..I think it's less than 20%. Making a conscious effort to play more rather than just keep collecting.

These are some interesting statistics for sure.

@Wchillinman Fighter is the one genre where crossovers really work imo.

@Lunar I'm suspicious. I wonder if it will be paid for.

I'm very sure I have the most games in my library for PS2 and Dreamcast. PS3 and 360 are up there, my TZ listing for those two systems is woefully out of date.

That's with dumping a lot of my higher valued US DC titles too. I'm also 100% burned discs on DC shooters now I believe. Also there are some Dreamcast games I'm looking for. Mostly puzzle games.

Assume that I have everything common, except for Bust a Move 4 for some reason. I think I even have US and EU Chu Chu Rocket. Chu Chu is alright, but I wouldn't put it in the top 5 DC puzzle games tbh.

Mr. Driller is amazing, probably the best one.

Some I would like to get divided by group.

Impossible Japanese Rares
Cleopatra Fortune (I know this is like $1 on US PS1, I have that version, and hate looking at the cover)
Puyo Puyo Fever

Japan only but not terribly priced
Plus Plum
Hanagumi Taisen Columns 2
Get!! Colonies

I know I'm gonna just have to eBay this crap.

Those 5 systems account for more than half my entire game collection. I was actually shocked I have that many DS games.

My collection lists are quite a bit out of date here too, something like 300 games short.

Yeah I have over 500 games on GOG. NOT THINKING ABOUT IT.

For the anime fans here, I have the BD set of Gurren Lagann coming so I no longer need my dvds. It's the legends release so it's in a nice single size dvd case with trays.

It is. I hope I can move it here. I'll sell it cheap or trade for another anime set.

Oh and I'm not insane, I didn't pre-order the upcoming US set. I got an AU set cheap.

Only downside to this AU set is that it's a digipak case, but I'll live considering the price difference.

So I tried the US version of Final Fight. Not much was changed in terms of the power imbalance, all blood was taken out though. Samurai sword and daggers used to be so satisfying, but now you just hear a thud.

So I guess the proper way to beat the 2nd level boss(dual wielding samurai) is to jump around like an idiot until he finishes his bum rush and for Abigail, keep using your special?

Try Mr. Driller. Sure it's falling blocks, but it has the added elements of trying to keep your guy alive (don't get squished, and make sure you have enough air). And yes there are a lot of falling block games. Puzzle Bobble (bust a move lol) 3/4 are fantastically fun to play with friends.

Just keep creating groups of 4 with an off-color piece in between. Anything that doesn't fit into that plan, ditch on the other side of the screen. That strategy is good enough to beat pretty much any of the AI in the ones I've played.

I used to play Legacy Lands. With the current buyouts and shady behavior, I can hardly imagine trying to buy The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale now. Karakas used to be brutal but wizards finally reprinted it, and I was never one to care about paying a premium for what version/artwork of a card I was playing. Actually I just looked and it looks like there are now 2x Drop of Honey in the sideboard. Looks like that one was bought out and went from $75 to $1000 in about a MONTH.

Standard is obviously cheaper, but definitely not for anyone w/o financial security.

Tabernacle is $1k? Omg. I'm having serious conflicted feelings. I sold off most of my Legacy stuff for video games but I'm thinking MTG has appreciated more than NES at this point. Drop of Honey is $750?? I should've been in on these shady buyouts Jesus Christ.

It's no contest, MTG actually appreciates (in some cases. Wildly not in most), classic gaming overall has depreciated slightly over time for the GOOD titles that didn't just hit trash prices. What they're worth now isn't a fraction of what they retailed at, in about 99.9% of cases.

Cause Saturn is cool, it's going to be easier than 3DO, and is probably going to be more price-prohibitive to do it 5 or 10 years from now. I already completed the two sets I really care about, NES and SCD, so it's on to more quirky things.

I'm surprised you didn't mention lumines, that game is so much fun.

I just realized after I traded my psp copies that I had lumines live on an old 360 arcade compilation disc. That and geometry wars 2 (also sooo good but obviously it's a shooter) plus bomberman live, which maybe I'll get into later on but I wasn't liking it .....

Hmm, debating this:

You're receiving this mail as you registered your interest in purchasing a NeoGeo Pocket SD FLASH cartridge at RetroHQ. If you are still interested the cartridge costs £70 (UK pounds) with postage of £5 for international orders and £2 for UK orders. If you would like to order one, please let me know and I will send a PayPal invoice over to you - please specify if you are in the UK or not so I can apply the right postage.
The cartridge accepts FAT formatted micro SD cards up to 32GB in size (not included) to install games to the onboard 15MB FLASH storage and comes with an instruction leaflet detailing how to install and play games on the device.
All retail games which have been tested are fully working with the cartridge. Only one compatibility issue has been found in King Of Fighters when playing link play between a NeoGeo Pocket black and white unit with the NGPSD cartridge and a colour console with the original game. This results in a slowdown of gameplay in head to head fights, however there is a workaround for this issue and a full fix is being investigated.
If you need any help / support, please visit the support page at RetroHQ : http://www.retrohq.co.uk/support/neogeo-pocket-sd-...
Many thanks!

Depending on what you want, I may be interested in the lot. I'm considering a Saturn set, and getting a ton of the commons together sounds good to help with shipping costs.

I was going to get it but after I sold you my Pocket in the steal thread I decided not to replace it. That reminds me I still have a copy of Metal Slug 1st Mission around here somewhere which should probably go to someone who can actually play it. :)

To any of you guys who go to conventions, how do prices on games generally go at those things? There is one in St. Louis area this weekend that I was pondering on visiting. I've never done a gaming convention, Lego yes, sports cards yes, comics yes, but no game cons. Figure pricing is high until late the last day like most other cons but wanted to get some feedback from those who have been to one.

I figured that was the case @Gypsy but yeah, meeting up with fellow collectors in the area would be the main reason to go. Also the Nintendo Playstation will be there on display, which I'd love to see and the guys from My Life in Gaming will be doing a panel. Couple other YouTuber's too as well as some small gaming tournaments, but I think it'd be a fun weekend for my son and I. Kinda last minute but I don't think it'll be a problem getting tickets/hotel room.

What kind of gaming tournaments? Any fighting game tourneys? And were you planning on entering anything? That was something I would have loved to do when Mortal Kombat 9 was still huge.

There aren't any "real" fighting game tourney's unfortunately but I might enter a couple of them for fun. They are doing Mario Kart 64, Star Fox weekend comp cart, Smash Melee, 1991 Nintendo Campus Challenge. Also a Final Fantasy trading card game and Magic the Gathering too but I don't know anything about those. Was thinking about doing Campus Challenge and maybe Melee, wasn't a huge Mario Kart 64 fan, if it was Diddy Kong Racing then I'd be all over that.

I've always found at least some decent deals regardless of size (decent usually being slightly below Ebay and not having to ship). There's always hilariously badly priced import guys and people selling $30-40 Aliexpress repros too. I like grabbing fragile Sega cases in person or dollar-bin Atari carts without having to ship. I need 3D Tic Tac Toe but I'm not paying more than a dollar for it, so until it shows up at a con I'm not buying it.

@dunno001, you're the third person to want those games but it was a poorly worded WTB list smile

I don't blame you there I prefer the arcade Mario Kart they had at Disneyland for a few years over any of the home versions I've played. I too loved Diddy Kong Racing way better than Mario Kart 64, I actually liked Mickeys Speedway better as well. But if I were there that would be the one I'd enter.

I can totally get behind paying slightly under eBay and buying dollar carts in person. Gotta love bootlegger guy (figuring that he can likely sell boots with impunity and hey once they are sold there are no returns, because it's a con) as well as overpriced import guy (because buying online is hard).

One of two stores that would actually price games at a dollar near me went oob, and the other one sucks in general but sometimes I check what they have in. Never buying any game worth more than $10 online there though, because lol prices.

Good idea with the dollar bin replacement cases and games I'd generally only pick up at garage sale prices. I'm sure a CIB Musha will be there taunting me at ebay or over pricing for sure, need to take some Monopoly money with me to be on the safe side. My screwdriver set will be making the trip as well, just in case.

Mickey's Speedway was much better on the GBA as they took out most of that super slow moving and annoying dialog, more streamlined and better racing IMHO. I'm actually not sure how long it's been since I played any of those tourney games, so the fun might be how terrible I am at playing them now, lol.

@tonymack21 I remember seeing multiple copies of that game for $5.99 back in the day. I also don't remember it being that good. So of course it's $50 now.

Oh and @DefaultGen in fairness to me, the site I ordered from had been down (noticed they were back up when I was looking for merch) and these dvds are from 2003 so it's kind of surprising they still have new stock. Of course they only have the first set in stock. I would have stock piled full sets (3 sets of 3 dvds each) if they had the others in stock at the same price.

ive been ejecting games lately too, especially anything I can play on the NVidia shield, which is just an absolute beast. it can do anything up to the dreamcast pretty much except og xbox and ps2... a group has recently gotten some ps2 games launched but not playable. but let them ever do and it will be on unloading those. its odd that ps2 was the weakest system of that gen yet dreamcast emulation is so good and its so bad. maybe because DC was windows based? seems like I remember the "emotion engine" being hard to work with back then.

I tell ya TEKKEN 7 has really re-ignited my love for the series and for fighters in general. tekken is also a series where pad players aren't at a great disadvantage to stick players except at the very highest levels. movement in tekken is arguably as important as anything else and pad players have less motion required to move. at the last evo or maybe the one before 5 of the top 8 americans were pad players. ive been watching youtube stuff with againstthepuddle or Aris or whatever his name is and seeing some of the stuff they can do with a stick is pretty cool but ive been playing this way so long and im not a tournament player so I don't know its worth relearning how to play.

I actually watched a pad vs stick vid last night and he talked about how with tekken there are pros and cons but they don't really outweigh on either side, and until you literally run upon the best of the best its really not a thing. he said its typical to see americans and westerners who are pad specialists struggle against the worlds best who are Japanese and Korean, and they are all stick players but their tourneys tend to be on arcade cabinets and not consoles, so when they come here and play console the field is more level

It looks great, particularly the animation for a video game. It's just kind of a chore to play. I posted it up for a very fair price, so I hope I get a taker here and avoid listing it on eBay for like $55.

The Dreamcast was a very progressive console. Almost the entire library is playable via VGA when patched. Most games are compatible w/o patching, but patching gets it over 90% I think. The reason a lot of arcade ports are soooo good on Dreamcast is that it was based on NAOMI hardware. What a nerd @DefaultGen is for not liking it. Xbox is the other good console from that era. Much much much better console for beyond 480i than the PS2. The PS2 however had brand recognition and a huge software library. Having MGS2 exclusive for I think over a year was pretty huge. Also iirc a lot of GTA games before Xbox as well.

Like the PS2, the PS3 had crapty architecture too.

PS2 is easy to pirate if you want to dump games. Just keep a system. I ripped all the games I'm going to send to @Rune_Walsh for instance.

ya the ps2's library def held it up, though it was def the inferior hardware. and yes NAOMI is love. had the DC had the rpgs the ps2 had it would have been my fav system of that era. but FFX is like my # 4 or #5 game of all time.

i like street fighter and guilty gear and MVC, but the 3d ones have always been my fav. god the hours on tekken 3 and tekken tag... the matrix level battles my brother and i had back then, and i really like the soul caliburs too i am in the midst of getting all those again as well i have pended up 3 and 4, have 2 on the GC (well, the gc version on the shield anyway) and so that only leaves me SC5.

Yeah I love the Dreamcast still. Not many RPGs but I did enjoy a few on it. Nowadays I'm playing mostly arcade ports on it. Fighters, puzzle games, Crazy Taxi etc...

Lots of screen tearing on PlayStation 4 too sadly. I notice it a lot, but it doesn't stop me from playing. Of course, I will only generally play exclusives on it. Multi-plat I can play on PC. Like the Shantae games I sent you, I got them on GOG on sale and played through them on PC.

And yeah, going from the Saturn controller which was perfect, it was a big disappointment. However, the pre-cursor (Saturn 3D controller) was a gosh darn warning sign with neon lights.

ya i liked the controller S for the og. but ya the dc, ogx and gc all had something terrible about their pads, all the while sony was rocking along with the DS2, if you think about it the dual shock has really stood the test of time. i really hope they never deviate from the back design i love love love the ds4.

lol, we were just talking about tekken with a pad vs a stick. tekken is a great fighter to play with a pad, until the highest levels in the world its not a significant difference unless you are amazingly good.

you can turn the light down on the ds4 as well in the settings, I keep it on the lowest and its not too bad and helps battery life.

Did we get to the point where third party joystick/buttons aren't total garbage? The last time I went shopping for joysticks was the PS2 era and it was pretty much your choice of Sanwa, Seimitsu, or nonsense.

@Gypsy - I'd love to do that with a Switch arcade stick and some of my art. Or the Ace Attorney-style Iwata art in my bio (which is from a Nintendo Direct, if a higher res version could be found).

I have an Agetec Sega Dreamcast stick, and Hori sticks for PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii.

I have a 360+ in there. So I get to use it with Sega Dreamcast too. I'll be buying a Chronus Max very soon now that they have worked out a lot of the kinks AND it will also let me use my Logitech G27 on PlayStation 4 All the buttons, the gate and the stick are custom. The only stock thing is the shell, lol.

@sailorneorune I can check my records and see if the site I used is still around if you'd like. Edit: Actually, this might not be doable. I don't think I would have deleted those emails though.

Its hard for me to play fighters on a stick now. Im so used to comboing with a controller. Even switching to a different controller i can see the difference in execution.

Im mostly wanting a cheapish stick to test out how much better(if at all) with shmups. Its sad when i realized i can dodge bullets better on my phone with touch controls than i can on a control pad.

I'd say get an X360 version as they are basically plug and play with a PC. Actually I've never tried an XBONE stick so they might be the same.

The Qanba N1 is a decent PC stick, entry level. Mayflash aren't too bad for entry level either but I can't remember if they have a 360 model, probably do. And then there is the Hori Mini. All of those retail from about $60-80 each and should be good ones to try out to see if you want to get into the higher end models or if they fit the bill for ya.

*Edit - actually that 8bitdo one I mentioned earlier is in this range too but I don't think there are any reviews on it yet.

We all pretty much grew up playing on Ataris or in the arcades anyways so even if we aren't using sticks now we did at some point.

But I'm with you on the whole switching thing, it's almost not possible to pull off the same moves with the same precision if you aren't using the same controller all the time.

I play an upper mid level Mileena on Mortal Kombat 9 on 360 and I've won thousands of online (I win at least 4 out of every 5 or better and have had streaks of over 50 wins in a row several times) ranked matches with her all with a basic 360 controller the one that came with the slim. BUT if I switch to this Mortal Kombat X controller or this Chun Li Street Fighter pad I have for 360 I can't even let myself play online with either of them. Now the combos in mk9 aren't as tech heavy as certain SF combos usually but in order to play and win at a high level in MK9 your footsies have to be on point and you have to have split second reactions to win against high level players especially when you are counterpicked.

That being said just for fun I like different control types occasionally including sticks when I have a chance to play an arcade game or whatever. But for any serious gaming sessions where I will lose without perfect timing (like super meatboy) I have to be playing with an original 360 or Xbox one controller. They are very similar so the differences are minimal. Even though most people hate the 360 dpad it's all I'm decent with anymore.

I'm not sure I'd go that route on a first attempt but certainly the way to go once you decide you need a stick. Still need to swap my super sensitive Sanwa buttons on my Atrox with the heavier force trigger Hayabusa buttons. A couple of mine are so sensitive just lightly resting your finger on the edge will trigger the button, doesn't even feel like you pressed it at all.

My stick posted above is the PS3 Madkats cheap fightstick. I got one wwe one (https://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&lo...) for 30$ new shipped when they first came out and no one wanted it. Was pretty easy to swap the buttons out with sanwa and put in a seimitsu ls 32 stick. I use it on PS3, PC, and PS4.

For 360 I use the tekken wireless stick, which I end up using very frequently for my living room gaming (it's what I've been using to practice mushihimesama futari) because I can sit 20 feet away and not worry about my dogs yoinking the system off the entertainment system.

On PS1 I use the Namco 6 button stick (I believe this was also a hori manufactured tekken stick)

on Saturn I use the aforementioned SS stick which I love.

I want to get a dreamcast solution, snes, nes, genesis solution - my sticks on those systems suck asssssssssss. Current plan is to get a bunch of tototek adapters to use my PS1 stick on those systems (http://www.tototek.com/store/index.php?main_page=i...)

On PCE I use this guy, and I love it! :)

Thanks for the correction.

However, Capcom's mishandling of this series outside Japan makes that bombastic 15th anniversary set feel like I'd imagine a punch in the face from the first Phoenix Wright game's gilded crook Redd White would feel like.

They didn't promote Ace Attorney in the West very much at all. One of the excuses Capcom trotted out for not localizing AAI2 was that the original was outsold by Okamiden, which didn't do all that well either.

Capcom at least tried with Okamiden.

They removed the CE a few minutes before release frown Guess I waited for nothing.

The CE was available (not anymore). I just got the regular edition though. You're paying a lot more for a lot of nothing IMO.

They took down the bundles and CE a couple minutes before release to prevent "cheaters" somehow. The URL stays the same and they go back up at 10:00:00. You just need to keep refreshing.

I seen that after it was too late. I had the page open and the CE was completely removed from their site, even at 10am. Somewhere between 10 and 10:02 it was put back up and sold out. And by that time it made me miss out on the regular edition.

They're just putting Night Trap on disc because it got a digital re-release. The original developers have been trying to bring it back for years. There was a Kickstarter years ago.

Yes. They just grab what people will let them print, which is why they get so many cheap old indie games.

If they ever handed that to LRG, I would disavow the company and shun the game. LRG is crap tactics, purposely withholding quantity to ensure it sells out because everyone wants to throw them money and flip online.

I mean, it's fudging Night Trap. Sold out. Really???

LRG claims it's up to the developer to determine the quantity ... but who knows.

CDs, paper and plastic have a static cost and are (essentially) limitless.

Hardware, components, ICs, anyone with a background in electronic manufacturing knows it's a fudging crap show. Nintendo sold it for too little money, and when their supply contracts ran out everyone selling them parts were probably like "Yeah, we can do more, but it's gonna cost you this time". Or they had to start dipping into the grey market to even be able to afford manufacturing costs. So they've got Nintendo chodes on one side of them screaming "I DIDN'T GET ONE FUDGE YOU" who expect it to be on shelves in perpetuity, with the component suppliers ringing their hands trying to see how badly Nintendo wants to fudge themselves over to try to regain some customer satisfaction, all over a limited engagement product they DEFINITELY met demand with on the supply end, until you throw in the eBay flipcraps.

One of these scenarios has no problem. The other one has a large, expensive, complex one. You'll note the SNES version had less games and cost $20 more this time around.

There are three people who care about LRG releases: LRG, people who flip LRG releases and people who collect LRG releases.

The hilarious part is that when the LRG collectards have their collection, they'll eventually be looking to unload their LRG collection to other people who have LRG collections who don't need their LRG collections. It's all artificial crap, and only LRG and the flippers benefit from it.

And of course they're known to sell out; they only stock enough to last FIVE MINUTES, IF THAT of digital ordering, and everything goes straight to eBay. That's nothing to be proud of. That's something you chuckle to yourself quietly over on your way to the bank. raspberry

So funny story, I was moving stuff out of the house to bring down to my in-laws for the annual garage sale and there was a locking cabinet I remember using for a short time to house my nes and snes stuff years ago. I opened the top and nothing, I opened drawer #1 and nothing. I opened the last drawer and low and behold boxes for Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy 3 and Illusion of Gaia greeted me. Only FF3 had the manual, sadly no map. I totally forgot I had these!. Also an extra snes composite cable and oem nes cleaning cart with manual. Boxes are not Grade A mint as there are some small peels and wrinkling, but everything but FF3 is available. Edit: for clarification I would say CT is "fair" and I would say Gaia is probably g-vg. Can put pics up when I am out of work later.

The PS4 ones went together. 235, so pretty much at what we talked about. Rune Walsh wants the Vita one so we're gonna try and work something out. He has that MS Saga I've been looking for but now I'm considering jettisoning ps2 lol but I'll get it as I haven't talked myself into 100%

Yeah you could probably use the 3D0 box for shipping, just take the seal off and empty out the box.

lame, missed Night Trap again and I had my order in in 10 seconds. All was good until is asked shipping method, after that it said sold out. So lame it lets you get that far into the order and still not get the item.

Play-asia was pulling an LRG on me today. It took 9 attempts at putting in payment info, 2 bank accounts, 3 credit cards and paypal...all declined multiple times. Never had an issue before today, then finally, I used a credit card through paypal and boom, processed like a champ! That was easy...stupid fraud protection.

Never used it because of course. Never used it or used it for like 5 hours total run time is probably at least half of framemeister owners. But anyway that's a low starting price auction for anyone looking. I'm sure it will get bid above retail though, because lul.

So how do you consider a game beaten? Is it on normal settings(normal difficulty, normal amount of lives etc)?

Final Fight is giving me more trouble than I'd expected. Finally made it to the final boss but wasn't able to close it up.

I know there is a cheat code that can enable more lives, I am tempted but still rather try to beat the game as developers intended.

There are also save states on Wii U and SNES Classic I am sure, those seem like cheating but sure saves alot of time.

I'd say the extra lives code is less of a cheat than save states.

Take my Final Fight example, if I can save state before the last boss, I can keep trying to see if I can beat him and skip having to replay the whole game.

Okay. I think I get it. Essentially, it just cuts out the filler and let's a player focus on just one portion of a larger level or stage.

Yea, essentially what people end up doing is save state after your best successful attempt. So you always have a clean/perfect record.

It basically enables a save point at ANY time during the game.

Ok, so pretty much where they could say something like, look I beat the game with one life (or bare minimum of lives), type of thing. Artificially making themselves seem like a beast/expert of the game. If that's what it is, it's a waste of time when/if people know about those save states.

For me, I like it because it saves time if I don't want to keep replaying the same (easy/boring) parts.

I must have sunk 10+ hours into Final Fight. Gonna try a few more times.

Save states do make the harder games easier and more accessible to the newer generation.

I've save-stated my way through games I can't otherwise beat before, same thing with 30-livsing Contra or feeding credits into The Simpsons until you win. Golgo 13 is one of my favorite NES games and I couldn't beat the final boss without cheating.

These days I'm usually happy to just see how far I get though. The fact that Duck Tales and Chip n Dale got re-released with save states and rewinds makes me feel like save states are for total wimps. I think there's a difference in cheating your way past a brick wall and winning the first time every time, like most games these days.

I think "bragging rights" doesn't mean the same as it used to. If you think you are a pro at (whatever game), just do a search on YouTube. There is always someone with faster relexes, more skilled and also better looking than you. So just accept it.

Also, the guy who spends 50 hours mastering a game to perfection vs. The guy who beats it in 5 hours and moved on to another game, who is the loser and winner? You tell me.

I'm totally fine with save state cheating fwiw, but it's cheating by definition.

Anyway, this isn't as crazy as @DefaultGen 3DO story but I got that anime set I derped on the price with eBay today. I asked the seller to ship in a box. They responded to that and said they would. Arrived today in USPS flat rate envelope with no padding. dead face

In the end it's all going to work out, albeit in a crapty way where I'm only happy because I was able to buy new old stock for less from the company. The first two discs both had inner ring cracks and the third volume had a busted case. So yeah, at least now I don't have to return it out of pocket.

I would also think it would be OK save stating a tough fight if you had already worked up to it before.

I spent the past almost 34 years of my life training my mind and body to beat Ninja Gaiden without save states and just accomplished it a couple weeks ago. I'm a loser, but on the other hand, I don't think a LOT of people have beaten Ninja Gaiden.

More than you think. Check YouTube. And they did it without dying!

I'll try NG soon enough. I'm pretty sure I beat NG2 couple decades or so ago. Don't remember if I did NG1

Actually, checking Youtube for like, "Ninja Gaiden NES Clear" shows a bunch of results initially but the majority of them aren't full clears or they're completely unrelated. Even if all 8K results there were full clears, there's a LOT of people on this planet. raspberry

I'm not saying I'm like Top 500 or anything, but it's still a fairly rare gaming achievement that's getting rarer I think. DON'T CRAP IN MY CHEERIOS ;0;

Alright, I have a pretty big NES lot on my hands, and any and/or all of it is available. For trade, I'd want what I'd usually want: NES, SNES, SCD or Saturn games I don't own. I'm willing to go more modern if it's on my wanted list, that should be up to date. Willing to sell and part out however anyone wants. The only thing I want to keep together is the console with the cables and at least 2 controllers.

I'm making it available to you fine folks for a few days before posting it in the Classifieds.

Included:

Toploader
Crappy after market RF cable
Nintendo brand AC adapter
4 brick controllers
Four Score
21 games:

1942
Blades of Steel
Defender II
Disney's Adventures in the Magic Kingdom
Gyromite
Kirby's Adventure
Mach Rider
Millipede
Monopoly
Pac-Man (Tengen Grey Cart) x2
Rally Bike
Super Mario Bros / Duck Hunt x2
Super Mario Bros 2
Tecmo Bowl
Tiger Heli
TMNT 2
Wheel of Fortune Family Edition
Win Lose or Draw
Zelda II

There is at least one game I've beaten more times than anyone I know of or am even aware of. And it's without "cheating".

I've spent a ton of time on it and basically to beat it even once I had to, because even on American gamefaqs only one person had beaten it and it's not even about quick reflexes it's a mini rpg called Buddhas Quest. From the psp game WTF WorkTime Fun. There was no complete walk through by anyone so I literally figured out almost every stat on my own. I'm that one mini game only. And it's not easy with my knowledge of all the battles. It's probably impossible without it. It's possible you could play it 100 to 1000 times without beating it if you even could stick with it that long.

Also as far as I know I'm the only person who has a video on YouTube of finishing it. It's on my friends page because we all went there to his house to post videos of all the mini games and beat as many of them as we could.

If the information to beat that mini game were readily available I would never have been compelled to spend maybe hundreds of hours figuring this game out. So sometimes it can be worth it to have to earn your wins. If nothing else we posted a video of passing this game and I added tons of stats to the page. Even though the walk through faq is no longer there now. But the video is, I also got to the final boss in the Japanese version. And in that one I didn't start from beyond the middle of the game I started from the very beginning.

You can win either way as long as you had a good time playing the game.

Thanks, I suppose its worth a shot. I do wonder if its limited to 5000 copies how they could come up with more? This is only the second purchase I have made personally so me being a frequent customer wouldn't matter, lol. Both 10am and 6pm don't work well with my schedule.

I stopped buying their games back in late March. Really only been 3 titles I'd like to have gotten since then. Night Trap wasn't really one of them though, perhaps it would be trade bait for something else. I dunno I guess I see this one as more of a fading interest rather than something that would hold any value down the line. Of course I eat words like that all the time so what do I know.

Night Trap sucks. But to realize that people would have to open the game and play it. So I predict value will stay high.

Fuuck I just realized no one is going to play it so people might still think Night Trap is some weird, misunderstood thing. If it has some modern newbie mode where you don't need to play through the same scenes 400 times with a notebook to try to beat it, I might actually give it a go.
